The Geography of You and Me- Jennifer E. Smith

The Geography of You and MeThe Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Going through various discussions under numerous groups here on Goodreads, I realized there was a brilliant author out there that I hadn’t stumbled upon yet.

Jennifer E. Smith, I am speaking of none other than you.

Just by reading the title of this book, I knew I had to read it. Without wasting any time, I did what i should have done ages ago and got myself your book. But then, better late than never!

As I began reading it, I knew there was no way I would be able to put it down without devouring the whole story. The story that got to me from the very first page, the very first chapter. The more it unfolded, the more diverging Lucy’s and Owen’s paths became, the more eager I felt to know how and if at all their paths would cross.

A tale of two souls as far apart as physically possible yet united in every other aspect of life, that reeks of relentless optimism on one hand, and despair on the other, drives you to the point of biting your nails in anticipation what might happen next!

A must read, guys!!

Confess- Colleen Hoover

ConfessConfess by Colleen Hoover

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Are you here to save me?”

Being a fan of romance novels, I can say that one of the most highly anticipated scenes in a story, is the one where the hero meets the heroine. The very first conversation they exchange, throws some insight our way about the kind of relationship they may be destined to have.

This book has such refined dialogues, with each and every word holding a paramount significance. They captivate you, impelling you to keep your gaze fixed on the words, the whole time while the scenes transform to vivid visions in your mind.

It’s a Colleen Hoover book! Need I say more? It was bound to make us cry, feel, hurt, laugh and choke on our emotions. She delivered everything a reader could have expected from the synopsis, and then some.

I would go so far as to say, she is perhaps the only author who can ensure a reader doesn’t forget to appreciate the beauty of life, while she tells a painful tale where life proves to be nothing but the villain.

The Raven (The Florentine #1)- Sylvain Reynard

The Raven (The Florentine, #1)The Raven by Sylvain Reynard

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know you’ve read a BRILLIANT book when the moment you read the last sentence, you flip the pages around and begin reading the book once again.

What can I say about this book other than what I already said? It was bloody brilliant! Before I grabbed this book, I thought I was done with all the vampire stories that I could ever read. Little did I know Sylvain’s Vampyre story would bring a refreshing change. This one was exceptional!

And the writing style? I don’t think I can comment on the degree to which it was phenomenal. It is clever, clean, rich and emphatically impresses upon the reader where a character is speaking from. Every chapter has been left at a cliffhanger and I just couldn’t put it down. Not before i devoured the whole thing. After the success of Gabriel’s Inferno and the prequel, The Prince to The Florentine Series, this book had sky high expectations to fulfill. And fulfill them, it did.

I am thoroughly impressed and am restlessly waiting for the release of the second book in the series.

Ripped (Real #5)- Katy Evans

Ripped (Real, #5)Ripped by Katy Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading the other books in this series I was unequivocally positive about this one being if not more, then at least equally sizzling, hot, sexy, invigorating and exhilarating. What’s more? It was everything I thought it would be, and more. If there is a book that packs a punch, then it this one.

We learnt of Pandora’s inability to show warmth towards anybody and everybody. But what we didn’t know was the reason behind it. Or, who was the reason behind it.

The Rock Star that every girl in the United States wants to marry, is none other than the one Pandora harbors so much hate for.

A juvenile act on her part brings them together for the first time in six years. Upon seeing each other, the ruse that had initially been orchestrated as a one time thing, stretches to something that requires being in close vicinity with each other for days on end, when she is presented with an offer she cannot refuse and he is assured something he had always wanted.

Two opposites when approach each other are bound to set off a reaction. But when the two opposites are Pandora and Mackenna, the reaction is bound to be explosive.

This is a book I couldn’t put down once I started. Every emotion you could ever possibly feel, is worded into this book. Go ahead, lovely ladies, pick it up. You wouldn’t be disappointed.

Beautiful Redemption- Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Redemption (The Maddox Brothers, #2)Beautiful Redemption by Jamie McGuire

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever.

The statement speaks for itself. Although the claim can be substantiated by the concrete proof we have been given in all of the books about The Maddox brothers so far.

But what if he didn’t love you first? What if he loved someone so deeply that she is now ingrained intricately into his system? What do you when you give everything you have to the person you love only for it to one day stop being enough?

Foul, alone, distraught and scared.

That’s what becomes of you.

A handful of insight into the secret life of Thomas Maddox in the epilogue of Walking Disaster and his fair share of involvement in Beautiful Oblivion, we could expect Thomas’s story to fall in the category of Ugly Cry. And ugly cry, it certainly was.

It makes you feel for the man who is built like a brick house on the outside but is far too vulnerable when it comes to his family? His family, which was once his solace, is now something he avoids. An impervious FBI agent clearly in need of saving meets another FBI agent who is even more of a lost soul than he is. But, surprisingly, their wayward souls, a burned bridge and the need for atonement is all that constitutes the ammunition to fighting a doomed war.

Can she save him? Can she be what he needs her to be for her.

His redemption, when she clearly shows signs of being his payback.

A wonderful book, fraught with pure emotions, grief, sacrifice, turmoil and love.

Absolutely adored it. The more I read, the more I cried. The more I cried, the more I savored it.

Never Never- Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover

Never Never (Never Never, #1) Never Never

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ahh! The much anticipated joint venture of Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover!

I have wanted to get my hands on this book so bad that i could barely wait for my courier from Create Space to reach my mailbox. Yes, i could have read the kindle version, but there was something about this book that compelled me to wait for the paperback. I wanted to FEEL the book, because i knew it would feel so much stronger than just reading words off a screen. And God, did it feel amazing! Every word screamed to be savored, to be admired and devoured. It told you to slow down, to delay gratification but hell if the pace at which the story was progressing was going to let me do that. I, like many others, swallowed it in one go. The sense of satisfaction that has just settled in my stomach was all worth it.

But then, the cliffhanger!! I can’t tell you how my heart rushed when i realized how little was the number of pages left compared to the major chunk of the mystery that was still left to be explored. But I ain’t complaining. This means we get more of these two amazing authors and of course of Charlie and Silas.

Had there been a provision to do so, I would have awarded it a 6/5. Yes, it’s THAT good. If i haven’t already made myself clear, then let me spell it our for you. IT IS BLOODY BRILLIANT!

I can’t wait for part two!

The Prince- Sylvain Reynard

The Prince (The Florentine, #0.5)The Prince by Sylvain Reynard

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Prince is a story of a certain someone who owns the city of Florence and has an army made up of his followers, at the ready to fight off anybody who tries to breach their borders. That aside, the star characters of Sylvain Reynard‘s series- Gabriel’s Inferno, are seen in this book from a distance. Just as they were, they last time they traveled to Florence, they are completely consumed with each other’s love and besotted with the rich history and culture this city has to offer. Not to forget, they are unaware of the potent danger to them and the world as they know it, lurking in the shadows, biding its time and patiently waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Gabriel has something that belongs to The Prince. Needless to say, there will be blood if the item is not returned.

Suspense, drama, thrill, mystery, enigma, heat, lust, absolution, atonement and grief. You name it. This book has it. It is only just a prequel to a new series, but this novella is nothing short of a masterpiece. I couldn’t put it down once I began reading it. By the time I reached the end, my eyes were wide and my breath was uncontrolled gasps of shallow air. Can’t wait to begin the Florentine series now! Something tells me they will threaten to make me forget Gabriel’s inferno. And that’s saying something.

One Night: Unveiled- Jodi Ellen Malpas

Unveiled (One Night, #3)Unveiled by Jodi Ellen Malpas

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The final piece of the One Night Trilogy is now out to be devoured. Several loose ends that we were left with at the end of One Night: Denied are seamlessly tied up in this one. Olivia and Miller go through hell and back to ultimately find the peace that they both so desperately needed. They are presented with back to back obstacles at every succeeding step, which demands flesh or blood or both, to allow them to pass. The people who were labelled as Immoral Bastards are brought to the forefront. And with them, the intricate network of bond between the characters starts pumping blood when old ghosts breathe to life.

I would mainly like to comment on the writing style. It is rife with understanding of the human mind and how sometimes even the best of us act recklessly. Especially when the situation is out of our control. Although I did feel annoyance at the selfishness of Olivia’s actions. More often than not, her method of remedying her pain was by inflicting hurt on Miller. Despite the fierce love she had for him. Sincere praise to the way Miller handled the situations thrown at him, along with tacking his sassy and uncontrollable girl. As says the tagline for this novel, it is indeed their love that manages to chase the darkness away. The content is thorough and rich and the story has been unhurriedly narrated. Time has been given to the reader to feel every emotion and savor it. Even if it is a painful one.
