If you Like Action-Suspense Reads, try this One

Once again, James R. Hannibal has given an exciting, action-packed, and unpredictable tale. I was never bored while reading this and, once it was over, was sad I did not have it to turn to every night. While I suspected some of the plot twists, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it all spin out of control. There was plenty of unexpected turns that kept me guessing the entire time. The suspense-action side of me appreciated this entire book.

The spiritual content was masked to me. In reading the au...

When it All Piles Up (and one way to get it all out)

“I’ve just been getting in my head too much,” I told a friend.

When you have a chronic illness, it doesn’t just mean you just feel less-well than a healthy person.

It means there are dozens of small, everyday matters to reevaluate and often bigger lifestyle choices to change. Things that never crossed your mind before.

I don’t want to admit it, but I was letting the questions and worries percolate in my mind and could feel the tension bottling up.

I had to get it all out.

So, I poured out my ...

Another Great Read from one of my Favorite Authors

This book had such a nice balance of mystery, faith, romance, folklore, nature, gentry, and intrigue. As far as books by Roseanne White goes, I found this one to be a little lighter than her last few books, which suited this particular story and setting well.

The ending wasn’t as suspenseful as some of hers, but again, I think it would have put the book out of balance. All that to say, I appreciated it for what it is and thoroughly enjoyed the full story. It was exactly what I needed for re...

A Mansion, a Mystery, England, and a Giveaway!

Being a mystery lover, I loved the hints of how and why things happened. I also love dual timelines and felt like this one was nicely done. Traveling to England was also delightful. This book gives much fodder for imagination.

There was a solid Christian message in both storylines of God making something beautiful out of pain and using people in their pain.

I am not a romantic, and this book had two fast-paced romances. If you like rapid romances, then you will find this book doubly delig...

A Read for Romance Lovers

Both the late 1800s sugar refinery and rich, aristocratic circles were intriguing elements in this story. I think my favorite scenes dealt with uncovering the underhanded dealings with the sugar refinery. This was not a suspense or mystery by any means, but I relished the hints it took in that direction.

I went between enjoying and being annoyed with this story. The premise was intriguing, but I thought it sounded like The Bachelorette (from what I have heard, I have not watched it). Given ...

Of Red Shoes and Joy

I bought red shoes.

If you know me, I’m not a big, bold, or flashy person (I kid you not, half of my shirts are gray—I really need to get a Spring wardrobe). My other shoes are all black, gray, or brown.

But… these shoes just made me smile. And since I needed new shoes anyway, I thought, “Why not buy something that will give me a little smile everyday?” Especially on those chronic illness days where I really don’t feel like getting dressed and seeing people. I can slip on my red shoes a...

The Creepiest Read of 2021 (so far)

Have you ever read a book where you’re mentally screaming at the main character that she’s making a stupid mistake? Yeah, that was pretty much me for Stella. I did understand where she’s coming from, as a chronically ill individual willing to take whatever step needed to get better. But starving yourself? I mentally shook Stella so many times then watched in horror as the realities of Dr. Hazzard were revealed.

This was such a creepy read! Good, but not for the faint of heart. And the fact ...

What “Good Things” Have You Not Been Considering?

Do you ever have one word or phrase that suddenly stands out to you–especially in Bible-reading time?

“Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.” Psalm 85:12

This thought of God giving that which is good led me to think of another verse that has greatly encouraged me over the last few years:

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11

Which ...

Guess how old “Journey to Love” is?!

Tomorrow makes five years (!!!!!!) since I dipped my feet into the pool of serious publishing. And wow, has it been a journey since! I think “Journey to Love” will always hold a special place in my heart. I learned so much while writing and releasing it–and have learned even more since.

In addition to Journey to Love celebrating five years, A Strand of Hope just hit the six month mark (already!). So I decided to celebrate both these milestones together with a sale (and a free short story se...
