What Makes a Good Christian Read for a Hot Summer Day

I live in the south. Where summer is HOT. So when it comes to a cozy summer read, one that is all about winter and blizzards and the freezing cold is a perfect fit!

All that being said… I should really investigate books a little more before I request them for review. Once again, I jumped into book three without realizing it. And from how much I enjoyed this book, I would have loved to experience the entire series—in order.

I was prepared to find Rae annoying. She’s a reporter and a woman...

How to Create Vintage Scrapbooks

My upcoming YA Christian Historical Novella | Graphic designed by Michaela Bush | tangledupinwriting.com

It’s one week until “A Strand of Hope” releases!!!! There’s so much happening, it’s quite the whirlwind of excitement!

For one, I’m doing a local party on release day, Lord willing and the Covid don’t rise (okay, yes, that was pretty corny). There will also be a U.S. Goodreads giveaway, Lord willing. And a giveaway on my blog. And probably a little more as I think of it. I’m super stoked!!...

How to Read All the Librarians of Willow Hollow Books (for free!)

I have had several people asking me how they can read all four of the Librarians of Willow Hollow books–and if the other authors have launch teams they can support.

Well, if you’ve been wondering, great news! Though my launch team is closed, the others’ launch teams are still wide open and accepting applicants!

I Love to Tell the Story, by Faith Blum

About the Book

“A Strand of Hope’s” Blooper Reel

I am totally the person who watches a movie then instantly goes to the behind-the-scenes or blooper reel. It’s fun to see the human side behind a production. Anyone else like that?

Well, every book has its blooper moments too! Here are five from “A Strand of Hope.”

1) I almost plagiarized a sermon

One of my launch team members created a great graphic for “A Strand of Hope.”

As soon as I saw the quote, it suddenly hit me. This was a direct quote from a sermon I had heard — I had copie...

The Book that Simultaneously Creeped me Out and Sucked me In

Death Seems to Follow Harriet’s New Friend

When Harriet Peters came to Boston in 1882, the Robinson family took her in like one of their own, and Harriet became closer to Lizzie Robinson than her own siblings. Now, four years later, Lizzie is deathly sick, failing quickly just like several others in her family have done over the past few years. How can so many in one family die from the same mysterious illness? Harriet doesn’t have answers, but she is determined to help the family, bringing in a...

What Makes a Good Suspense/Christian Mix

My review

I have read Dani Pettrey several times now. She is one of those authors who can have amazingly complex suspense stories with a good, solid Christian message. The one thing that she sometimes has too much of for my taste is the romance aspect, so I’m always curious to see what each individual book holds in that field.

I enjoyed riding the waves with the characters. I absolutely love the family circles that Dani Pettrey has in her books, and this one was no different. Noah was very mu...

A Boy, a Bike, and a Book

If you like bittersweet yet heartwarming tales, then The Key to Everything, by Valerie Fraser Luesse, belongs on your shelf.

Peyton Cabot is the most kind-hearted, serving, and pleasant teen around. The people he meets can’t help but love and trust him.

And though he sets off on an emotional journey, it is lyrically and smoothly told. He quickly learns the skills he needs for his bike journey and sets off to follow the path his father had traveled over a decade earlier.

A long, slow glimpse of ...

Why make the hard choices?

“And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” Genesis 7:1

Why make the hard choices?

Why strive to be different?

Does it really even matter how much we’re like the world?

Noah isn’t some super human without fleshly temptations. He very likely had moments of questions, wondering if it was “worth it” to be different. His sons probably tempted him to be more lenient in some areas (after all, NO one...

What Website Crashes have to do with Gratitude

“Your newsletter sign-up is giving me an error screen.”

Not the words I wanted to hear after three days of fighting with website updates and a week of trying to drive more readers to my website.

I love web designing if it’s easy—I mean, who doesn’t?—and an error page is not my happy place.

Error pages don’t belong on a checklist. And I’m the type of person who sees the checklist of things that need to be done immediately.

But that’s not how it works in cyber world. That particular day, my...

Horseback Librarians Needed (at least, virtually speaking)

Do you ever wonder what it’s like to release a book into the world?

Or have you already released your own book and are wanting to get ideas for another book launch?

It’s 35 days until “A Strand of Hope” (affiliate link) enters the world!

And I need some virtual horseback librarians to help bring some books into the mountains of Kentucky–or, rather, into the hands of remote readers. Or less-remote readers. You know what I mean.
