When Romance Meets Suspsense
When it comes to a mystery, I love one that has several twists and turns. This one fit that bill quite well. The layers of who was doing what against Eve kept me interested in the story.
I found the end especially intriguing as it flashed between different POVs to tell the climax. Definitely intensified the suspense there.
The characters were openly Christian and talked about church, prayed, and had a verse or two they relied on. As for a specific spiritual theme or lesson, I could not really...

A 5-Star Christian Historical Read
You ever have that book that just falls in your hands at the perfect moment? Well, that was The Librarians of Boone’s Hollow for me. I love giving books five stars, but usually there’s just something in a book that knocks off a star for me–whether it is content, writing style, etc.
I honestly can’t think of giving this one any less than five stars. It was just so beautifully done. I have loved reading Kim Vogel Sawyer’s books for years now, and this is one of my favorites.
Maybe it’s beca...

The Secret Place of Thunder – Available Now!
All four books are now out in the world! Today, Alicia is joining me with an interview–and there is a lot of other fun stuff as well!
Interview
Amanda: We all first learned about the Pack Horse Librarian project kind of together when my sister posted the video on my timeline. What was the first thing you remember standing out to you about this historical program?
Alicia: I loved the way the librarians expanded the world of the mountain people through reading; it reminds me of a favorite par...

Do you Remember 19 Years Ago?
There are certain days that become cemented in our lives. Suddenly, you remember where you were that day. Vivid details that will forever be etched on your memories.
For me, 9/11 is one of them.
The phonecall from Dad to Mom. Dad and the boys coming home from work and bringing a borrowed tiny black-and-white TV. Images of the Twin Towers and the airplanes plowing into them.
It still brings chills up my spine to remember all the lives affected by this attack. This instance in which one m...

Of Ghosts, Circuses and Hauntings
Jaime Jo Wright definitely knows a good way to mix historic and present-day mysteries. I love seeing how the stories of the two eras come together and how a mystery of the past continues until today. This one totally kept me up at night to see how it would turn out.
The characters…
One thing that really stood out to me in this book is the extreme diversity of characters. I sometimes have a hard time remembering individual characters, but that totally was not the case here. Every single ch...
When the Great War Ends
Happy release day to the final book in this series!
The characters…
Lily and Zivon’s story was the perfect ending to this series. It was more sweet and solid than suspenseful, compared to the other books. Also compared to the other book, this one seemed a little more distant from the actual war than the others, but perhaps that’s because it was toward the end of the war.
Being a hobby photographer myself, it was fun to learn facts about photography from WWI and I especially loved the wo...

A Dazzling Romance Read
I needed a quick, upbeat, and sweet read and this one totally fit the bill.
Wit, humor, friendship, and history is balled in one.
Penelope and Tucker’s friendship was a comfortable fit. And then… the pretend dating. Yeah, there were several times I, being my very unromantic and unsappy self, rolled my eyes at them.
There was a good picture of “unforgiveness in denial” coupled with bitterness. But it didn’t stay there. The end was packed with a solid lesson in Biblical forgiveness and followin...
