Sounds of the Season to set the mood.
The Sounds of Halloween and Halloween Horrors were side 2 and side 1 of the same album (you can see as much if you look at the text on Sounds). I know because I owned it as a kid.
Sounds was just a collection of various sound effects you could use to make a spooky recording of your own. Innocent enough, sure. But, the other side of that album…
Halloween Horrors was a full audio story about a guy who seeks shelter in an old mansion during a rain storm and it used effects from side 2. I guess it was like an example or something.
It was the most terrifying thing I’d ever heard. It was so scary, that my sister and our friends used to dare each other to listen to it and see if anyone could sit all the way through it. And we barely ever were able, even in broad daylight.
It left a mark on me so deep and so disturbing that just seeing the cover art has me flipped the fuck out right now.
