also if u press the “esc” (escape) key on ur laptop before the page fully loads, it won’t load any pop-ups blocking u from reading. if the article has images, then this method sometimes does not u see them. but! the words will be fine :)
Pro tip: If you copy and paste a link that said “no free articles” into a private/incognito browser, it will let you read the whole thing.

If the site is particularly badly designed, you might just be able to delete the overlay itself. Right click > Inspect element and delete the line of HTML (it’ll be highlighted automatically)

If you are on a desktop browser , there is a “Bypass Paywalls” on Github by
iamadamdev for chrome and fire fox. It will bypass all the well known news magazines.
Hold on.
The problem with these “solutions” is real journalism costs money.
Reporters, editors, reserachers, proofreaders, photographers, and designers all have bills to pay. And I don’t mean a mortgage on their mansion. No, I mean rent, food, etc. Trust me, no real journalist gets into the business to get rich. It can’t be done. And since ad revenue for newspaper sites is down (those advertisers moved to TV), they have to make up the money for those salaries and other costs with a paywall.
You know why Fox, Breitbart and Daily Caller are free? Because they get huge injections of money from conservative and alt-right orgs. So, if you skip the paywall on legitimate news sites, eventually real investigative journalism will die and all you’ll be left with are the alt-right megaphones.
In summation: Skipping the paywall makes the problem you’re citing worse.
(And don’t even get me started on how deregulation lead to newpapers being forced to turn a profit, even though they are not and have never been profit-generators.)
If you want a workaround that won’t kill the press, many newspapers have mobile apps that give you access to all of their content (the WaPo and LA Times apps, for example, are great). Yes, you also see ads when using them, BUT your eyes on those ads allow the paper to show advertisers user data that keeps them coming back.
