“Oh, You Beautiful Babes From England, For Whom We Have Traveled Through Time… Will You Go To The Prom With Us In San Dimas? We Will Have A Most Triumphant Time!”
I love this movie.
I saw it when I was an awkward high school sophomore. And unlike the teen nerd revenge flicks of the ‘80s, this movie showed awkward high schoolers who were focused on positivity and following their own path. Their victory wasn’t rooted in showing the jocks who was better or losing their virginity. It was a story of two weird kids making their weirdness work for them.
I won’t say this movie made my life suddenly work out. It didn’t. But, it did show me a scenario in which someone like me could be happy — someone who didn’t fit in and didn’t care to, someone who had creative obsessions others didn’t, someone who believed in the good in humanity.
Plus, it was about history, which is rad.
And the drummer from The Go-Gos played Joan of Arc.
Anyway, it may sound trite or whatever, but this movie saved my life.

It’s An Honor Just To Be Nominated
I just learned my book Anyone Can Be President is nominated for a Mom 2.0 Summit Iris Award, which allows members of the parenting community to recognize achievements in the sphere of parenting and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah… My book is nominated!

So, I know back in the day, there was a posse of dad bloggers who either attended the Dad 2.0 Summit or crashed the Mom 2.0 Summit. If you’re still around and are able to vote (you must be a previous conference attendee and part of their council of something or other, I think), please consider voting for my little ol’ book, would ya?

Thanks a pantload!
