Which prophet was lifted by his hair to the heavens?

I know. That sounds weird. But that is probably not the weirdest thing that happened to this prophet.

Prophets had a tough job. They were Exhibit A for the object lessons God wanted Israel to see.  Many times prophets rose to the public microphone to deliver unpopular messages. These were words of warning, foretellings of disaster, punishment and judgment if Israel did not change their behavior.

Ezekiel came onto God's stage after Israel had ignored the prophets before him. Judgmen...

Did King Solomon Have Monkeys and Baboons?

First you must know some scholars do not believe there was a King Solomon or a King David either. They claim there is no evidence to prove Solomon or David were real persons. But that is not true.

Recently six clay seals were discovered at Khirbet Summeily in Israel. These seals date to the time of David and Solomon (10th century BC) and show that there was some type of government activity going on there. While it may not prove it was King David's government, it at least makes it possible.

Round or Square: The Controversy Over Jesus' Tomb

The size and shape of the stone sealing Jesus' tomb has been studied and the results may differ from the images we are familiar with. Perhaps that isn't a big deal, but it could be if you take the arguments for a square tomb as fact. Let's take a look at the scholars' claims, and I'll give you five reasons the Bible disagrees with them.

Several scholars have written about the shape of stones sealing tombs in Israel. There is the circular stone most artists have depicted, and then there is th...

Who Am I? Your God Identity

We have been busy crafting workbooks for elementary aged children, and ta da! I'd like to introduce our newest title, Who Am I? Your God Identity.  In these lessons, children learn what part of their identity they have in common with every person born, and what  part of their identity is their choice. Part Two of the book discusses who they are in Jesus after they receive salvation. It is the first book we've produced to go along with videos I've put up on Youtube.

Right now it is only on Amazo...

The Sign of Jacob's Well at Shechem

Sometimes people can doubt the promises of God. In the middle of a challenge they wonder if His words will prove true. Will the promise they have taken for themselves, depended on, are leaning on with no safety net beneath them, be seen in their life?

Abraham was a man with an experience. He didn't have a Bible. He didn't have a stone with the  Commandments on it. He didn't have a scroll with the laws of Israel on it. He had a Voice that spoke to him. He had instructions, and he had a promis...

Did Archaeologists Find Bethsaida, Peter's House of Fish?

When Peter was close to the end of his life, he was determined to remind the believers of the promises God gave them. He said, "According as his [God's] divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world" (2Pe 1:3-4).

He told...

Who Were The Magi?

Two of my grandsons were wisemen in the Christmas program at their church. They are a year apart and are like two mischievous raccoons. More like wise guys than wisemen at this stage of their life, and I love them to the moon and back as the saying goes.

Also dearly loved, one of my granddaughters asked me what my favorite part of the Christmas story was besides Jesus. I told her at that moment it was the story of the wisemen. I like a good mystery, and the real wisemen are certainly mysteri...

What Mother Mary Got Right

When God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus, she responded in a way that still has an important message for us today.

The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, scaring her out of her wits. She may have been startled by his sudden appearance though the text doesn't say that. It says she was troubled, alarmed, by what he said (logos). But she listened when he said, "Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God."

Then he told her why he had come. "And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy ...

8 Misconceptions About Hanukkah

Hanukkah starts Sunday December 18th this year (2022) and lasts until Monday the 26th. Non-Jews  have many misconceptions about Hanukkah. One of them is that it is the Jewish Christmas. Nope. Not even close.

Let's start with how to pronounce the Jewish holiday. Hanukkah in English is 3 syllables, HAHN nuh kah. In Hebrew it is closer to 2, khan newKAH, with the accent at the end of the word. If you want to wish someone a Happy Hanukkah, Hanukkah Sameach, but you don't do the Hebrew kh sound w...
