The Last Lullaby
Shutting the front door, I moved into my bedroom. I have had such memorable moments in this room, but it now appeared hollow. I untied my hair and slipped off my dress before walking inside the bathroom. A nice shower could certainly do me good.
Looking at myself in the life size mirror, I admired my body before sliding into my nightie. With nothing else to do, I picked up a wine bottle and poured myself a glassful. It smelled exquisite. Sitting on the bed, I looked at the photo-fram...

Sinister
As the cold water splashed against his face, he felt a sense of calmness rushing through his nerves. Wiping his face from the hand towel, he was constantly thinking about the reason why he has been having the same dream every night.
Aaron had been married to Joanne for three years now and they had been living together for the past five years. Everything in their lives was running smooth. Of course, like any other married couple, a few problems obstructed their lives every now and then, but th...

Reincarnation
Alan was drenched in sweat when he woke up. It was the strangest dream he had ever had. Although he was never good at recalling the dreams, he remembered someone chasing him endlessly. It was a mysterious figure and he was trying to run away from it. He could not recall the reason, but something was downright scary about the mysterious figure. He gulped down a glass of water before shutting his eyes again.
The following morning was a weekend, which meant more workout and more sleep for him. H...

Quiet
“Quiet, you fool! My child is sleeping,” the man shouted at Dennis who was playing in the lawn outside their new home with his sister. They had recently shifted to a new place, which was not easy especially for Dennis. He had to leave all his school friends behind and although he knew he would make new friends in his new school, the loss was not something you can move over in a matter of days.
His sister was however too young to understand such sentiments. She was extremely happy in the new h...

Planchette
Liam, Dean, Flora and Rhea were sitting in the living room of Flora’s house around a planchette board. Flora’s parents had gone out of town for two days and Rhea’s parents had obliged their request to let Rhea stay with Flora till they returned. Flora had taken up the opportunity merrily to call Liam and Dean at her house that night. Liam had always been complaining to her that they spent too less time together and in some way, he was right. Flora’s parents were not the orthodox kind, but the...

Ordinance
She was heading home from her office with a delighted mood that day. Finally, she had received the promotion for which she had been working so hard. All she needed tonight was a big tub of vanilla ice cream and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon to celebrate the big achievement. She lived alone; had been living alone ever since her parents died. She had always been oriented towards her career and apart from a couple of casual flings in high school, she had never been in a serious relationship. Ho...

Nightmare
Her pale face with a bald head was the scariest things I had ever seen in my life. Two white spheres were all that could be concluded about her eyes that were supposedly reading me; I couldn’t judge. There were no eyebrows and her nose was eaten up in half. She had pitch black lips, which were letting out a thick black liquid from her mouth every time they opened. The fluid was now dripping on my face. Her hands were holding my hands tightly against my will; only there wasn’t any skin on her...

Mine
Sam had never felt better. It appeared to be the golden period of his life where people had started looking up to him without getting scared. He remembered his high school time. Forget the girls, even guys used to run away from him. They used to call him a freak, but they had their reason; a reason that was legitimate.
While waiting in the college’s cafeteria for Selina, his mind was throwing back memories at him. He could have never imagined that a person like him would ever be able to find...
Let Me In
The lamp post in the front of their house was not working today. For so many nights, the light emitting out of it had given a sigh of relief to him. Though, the warmth of the light could not be felt inside the house, it made him feel safer and consoled him through the long sleepless nights. He had considered telling his parents about the curse, but refrained himself from actually doing so. “They will never understand me,” he had thought.
He was gifted or rather cursed with an ability that had...

Killer Doll
“I will always miss you Nancy,” Fiona said while kissing her favorite doll.
Her family was moving. Besides, she was not a little girl anymore to play with dolls. However, you cannot deny the fact that such things are an essential part of your childhood and it is natural to form a special bond with them, which makes letting go harder than you can imagine no matter how old you are. Her sole solace resided in the fact that Nancy was going straight to her little cousin’s collection and she knew t...
