BULLET JOURNAL.

August 31st, 2017

My BuJo.

Back in January, Emma mentioned to me how she wanted to start a Bullet Journal.

Before then, I had never heard of such a thing, and I was instantly intrigued. I looked up on it, and quickly realised it required quite a bit of pre-planning – which I’m not going to lie – put me off.

I kept coming across beautifully decorated journals, wondering how much time people spent on setting them up, wishing to have one for myself. Almost 9 months went by and my quick, scribbled, pre-made planner run out of pages, and so back on Monday I went out to grab some supplies, a new notebook, and set my own bullet journal up!

At this point I had saved a few blog posts that inspired me and helped me organise the journal, specifically this one, and this one.

It’s kind of overwhelming when you get started, as it seems like there is a lot that needs to be included, but soon enough I realised that since it belongs to me, I can edit out what most people write in there, and tailor it to my own needs.

I did keep some of the main important bits: I’ve given it a small intro page, where I wrote the Index, so that I can quickly find the topic/page I need; and the Legend, so that I have all the symbols I’m using in one place.

Because I’ve started this so late, obviously I didn’t need to write down the entire year, but I got to focus on the last 4 months left. I’ve created a mini calendar where I get to mark important dates and trips.

Then I’ve also put together the Future Log, which allows you to take a better look at the months to come, so that you can really plan ahead. As you can tell things are pretty empty right now, and I did have to edit out some info as I wrote down locations I’m going to be at (safety), but I definitely think I will find this very useful once I properly start to use the journal.

I’ve also used up two more pages to track my projects. I’ve only included the main, big stuff I work on over the months, although I should probably create something similar for smaller things as well as a video calendar. Again, I removed some info, this time because I don’t wanna give away what I’m working on just yet.

The final thing is the weekly spread. I saw most people manage to fit lots of stuff in here, like what they eat, how much they work out, sleeping times and so on; but I wanted to dedicate the space to my lists of tasks.

I did get a free corner on the bottom right, which I decided to keep for photos, doodles and ideas (in this page I’ve attached a photo of me and Maya). I’ve also started the journal a bit earlier, so the dates with the star washi tape indicate these past few days, belonging to the month of August.

Can you believe that tomorrow is already September?!

Anyway, this is all I’ve got so far. A bit empty and more ‘minimal’ than others, but it has all I need for now. Any suggestions on what I could add? If you have one yourself, is there something that really helped you, or enjoy keeping track of?

Let me know!

INTERIOR DESIGN.

August 29th, 2017

The course I took.

I’ve talked about my Interior Design studies and how much I’ve enjoyed the course I took before: I’ve posted about it on here since the very beginning, and gave some updates on my channel.

I came across The Interior Design Institute last summer, and got my diploma in January, but recently they reached out to me and offered to give away a free course for one of you, marzipans!

It’s an online course, which allows you to study at your own pace, and once you join it, you are paired with a teacher that helps you through it by giving you book suggestions, tips, and grades your assignments.

There are 12 Modules to complete, all incredibly well structured, and at the end of each, you get to put to the test your newly acquired knowledge and skills.

In the beginning, you get to study the basics and history of Interior Design, to then put it into practise by following a renovation project for a client, that carries through as you move forward with each chapter.

When I came across this course, last summer, I knew I wanted to start studying a new subject, but I didn’t know how much I was going to enjoy it, and how useful I would find it. Since graduating, I believe that I’ve developed a much clearer sense of design, when it comes to my own renovation projects and decor; I understand the process of creating an harmonious and balanced environment, and I’m able to appreciate different styles, knowing how they developed over time.

I’ve since been able to start my own projects; in fact, in the past, I had redone my bathroom, and left every decision to a designer: both Felix and I were quite underwhelmed with the results achieved – as we weren’t able to express what we really wanted and the look we were going for – so when it came to the kitchen, after studying Interior Design, I was able to follow the entire process and make all the decisions directly.

My point is that, even if you are not thinking of doing this as a full-time career, having the knowledge is very helpful, if you have an interest in this subjects. It can save time and money, stimulate your creativity, and help you create the best space for yourself.

So now, to the fun bit: The Interior Design Institute wants to provide a free course to one of you. All you have to do is leave a comments saying why you would like to become an #IDIstudent (use this hashtag so I can count you in).

I will select a winner on the 31st of August, at random, which will be contacted by me directly as well as the name will appear in this blog post – so make sure you come back to check!

Please, if you are not passionate about the subject I would ask you to not join so that people that truly would love to win the free course can get a better chance. Also, I need to manually approve all the comments, so simply leave yours – I will see it, it will just take longer to show up but you will be counted in!

In the meantime, you can check out the course over HERE and you can also take a look @theinteriordesigninsitute on Instagram for some inspiration.

I’m so happy to be collaborating with them to bring you this cool opportunity, so I really wanna thank The Interior Design Institute for doing this.

Good Luck everyone!

MINI GOLF.

August 27th, 2017

Summer days are back.

Remember back in June, when I blogged about my whole week, saying how we were having a wonderful hot week? Well, since then, the weather has been rather mild, not really summer-like.

The past couple of days, finally, the heat and sun came back. Nothing too warm to be fair, but at this point I’ll take any chance I get to wear a t-shirt and have a good time outdoor.

Felix and I sent out some texts yesterday morning, to meet up with a few friends and play mini golf.

We have been living here for years now, and always seen this ‘crazy golf’ course, but never had the chance to actually play.

It’s pretty small, but luckily it was pretty empty so we got to take our time.

The results!

Then we walked to Marrocco’s, which is an Italian ice-cream place, and it’s always incredibly busy.

I peeped through the construction wall, where people were queuing up, and saw this. Isn’t it so gorgeous? I had no idea something this beautiful was here, as it’s always covered up.

After what felt like the longest line, we managed to get ice-cream. Here is a shot of Felix’s, as the cone was so pretty.

Anyway, the real reason why I’m writing this post is because it’s now a Sunday, which is the only day I get to record videos at home since there are no workers, and so I’m wondering if you have any questions for me, so I can reply to some as I get ready this morning?

Leave them down here, and I will select a few. Thank you!

Marzia.

SUMMER LEMON.

August 24th, 2017

A small giveaway.

Summer is coming to an end, and as you know, I’m doing lots of progress with the new winter line.

I have some samples from the Limone line in my office, and so I thought I would give them away to 3 people. Open to find out how to enter!

There are 3 outfits that you can create with this line, and so those are the ones I’m giving away.

Basically:

lace dress with leaf beret;
hoodie with pants;
pinafore with t-shirt.

I’m not including the socks as I’ve given them all away to friends, and unfortunately even the lemon tee is gone already, but I’m substituting it with the Forest Creatures t-shirt.

The fact that I’m giving away samples mean that they are not identical to the finished product: some have loose threads, some are missing embroideries, some lack detail stitching, and others have some small marks or minor fitting issues.

The point is: they are not the real deal, but they are pretty close, and instead of keeping them hanging in my office, sending them to some of you seemed like a better option.

I fully understand if you would rather have perfect pieces, and with that I’m happy to let you know that the Limone line is currently on sale, if you wanna grab something!

——————–EDIT

This giveaway is now closed. Here are the winners, that have already been contacted.

[image error]   ///OUTFIT 1

[image error]   ///OUTFIT 2

[image error]   ///OUTFIT3

As usual, thank you so much for joining everyone, new giveaways will come soon.

August 22, 2017

Hello, Iceland.

August 22nd, 2017

Reykjavik, The Golden Circle, and Volcanos.

Felix and I celebrated 6 years together on the 19th of August, and as every year, we decided to go on a trip: this time, Iceland.

I’ve been wanting to visit it since, a few years ago, we watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

We arrived on Thursday afternoon, which gave us the chance to walk around the city centre and snap photos of all the colourful houses.

Reykjavik was so cute, and both Felix and I agree that it has a lot of similarities to Swedish cities.

The view you get from almost every street is unreal.

Another thing we noticed was all the cats chilling here and there; I hadn’t seen so many in a long time. I guess Brighton is not a place for outdoor cats.

On our first morning there, we planned an helicopter tour over the volcanos. We got a call, telling us that we had to move it later or maybe even cancelled, as the weather was too windy, so we checked out some churches, as well as the Whales of Iceland museum.

This was quite small, but the whales were enormous. Very cute place!

Luckily our helicopter tour didn’t get cancelled, and so we headed to the airport to catch our ride.

It was my first time being in one, and both Felix and I felt a bit nauseous, but it didn’t matter as the view was amazing, and we even got to land on a volcano!

The wind was insane, and it was very cold, but it was so cool to feel the warm rocks and take a walk in places that not many get to be at.

After the helicopter, we had a 6 hour car ride ahead, as we wanted to do The Golden Circle, so that we could see some waterfalls and geysers.

We made it to The Great Geysir at around 8pm, and managed to see it blow up a few times. Conveniently enough, right in front there is a cafeteria so we grabbed dinner, and then made our way to Gullfoss.

You could feel the water from far away.

Absolutely stunning.

As if the trip wasn’t amazing already, we even managed to spot some Northern Lights from the window of our hotel room, at around 1pm. We were both hoping we would, but we knew that in August it may be hard.

Seeing them was the most magical experience.

On our final day there, which was our anniversary, we booked a Whale Watching tour in the morning.

I was surprised by how many whales we managed to see, I imagined that we would see one jumping out of the water, but it was more like multiple ones just coming to the surface.

The boat ride, for me, was probably the most fun experience as I love going fast on boats, plus the weather was so sunny and there was almost no wind.

Felix and I also bought matching wool sweaters (typical and handmade in Iceland) as a memory and to wear on the day. They kept us very warm!

Later that day we drove to the Blue Lagoon, which was our final stop.

We had dinner at the Lava Restaurant, and then got to chill in the hot water.

We stayed almost 3 hours and didn’t want to leave, as this place was – once again – incredible, but it was the perfect ending to our trip.

Both Felix and I vlogged the whole thing, and I’ve just finished editing them both so you will have lots to see soon. I’m not going to lie, I’ve forgot to snap photos so this blog post isn’t the most detailed, but you will get to see everything we did in the videos!

Iceland was wonderful. I loved it.

BEDROOM MAKEOVER.

August 15th, 2017

Fairly minimal, cheap and quick.

This is the bedroom in the ‘old’ flat (the one where Felix works from).

About a month ago I sold our bed frame on eBay, as it wasn’t really our style anymore, and I decided to do a simple makeover.

The quality of this photo up here is clearly bad, but I wanted you to be able to see how the bedroom looked like before.

Originally, we decided to go with a French frame as we wanted to match all the beautiful details on the walls and ceiling, but the gold/brown shade of the bed and its matching side tables made the space feel a bit dark, and somewhat dated.

So as I said, I sold it all on eBay, which meant I now had a blank canvas to play with.

I had some paint samples around as we are getting our flat (the one we live in) re-painted, and so I picked these two – Pashmina and English Manor – and mixed them up to give a new, fresh colour to the background.

In fact, since we now don’t have a big frame covering it up, having that beige shade in there was fine, but I wanted it to stand out more.

After painting the wall, I used sandpaper to give it a distressed look. I think industrial/distress and period features work really well together.

These were the only two things I had to buy for this makeover.

I intended to place them one on each side of the bed, but I ended up propping them next to each other, as it seemed more unusual.

I’ve also added a bigger, fake plant (which before was in Felix’s old office) as I think it balances the others, and the green just looks so pretty against the faint pink wall.

In the basket on the right, I put some books, decor items, and a small humidifier lamp (which I had bought a long time from eBay) that changes colour, so it not only has a purpose, but further creates an interesting light effect.

Finally, I kept it simple with some white sheets, as they never go out of style.

I placed the mattress on a rug, to add more definition to the bed area, and that was it.

For how little it costed me, and how quickly I turned it around, I’m honestly really happy with the result!

What do you think? Do you like it?

TIME FLIES.

August 6th, 2017

Another update.

I always say to Felix that time goes by way too fast. I’ve never noticed it as much as this year.

I’ve been meaning to write here on my blog multiple times in the past week, but always ended up finishing my daily amount of work late in the evening, feeling too tired to put some thoughts together.

Here is a collection of failed attempts.

First of all: we got a hedgehog!

His name is Dogy, and as of today, he is 9 weeks old.

He looks like a tiny pig. He loves that blue fish toy.

Felix had been showing me hedgehog videos for a while, suggesting that we would get one. I never really considered it, I never knew if he was serious, knowing that he has little time to spare, but eventually we were both looking up info about them, and getting one seemed doable.

We contacted multiple people looking to re-home their hedgehogs, but pretty soon we learnt that they all go quite quickly, in a matter of hours.

Last Saturday we saw that there were just a couple left for sale in Birmingham, and so we went for a 7 hour drive to pick Dogy up.

The following days went by fast, as I was driving to different pet shops to get Dogy a new cage, better food, a big wheel, a playpen, toys…

And then Thursday came. I had been invited to the Gudetama Launch in London, and so Felix and I hopped on the train to spend an egg-cellent evening meeting some really cool people.

I was introduced to the Sanrio team, and I was also given a tour of their office.

I ended up speaking to lots of people and had little time to film around, so my original idea of blogging and vlogging had to be scrapped.

At this point, on Friday, I felt like I needed to get back here as too much time was passing by, but on the same day I had to come up with a video idea, film and edit it.

I ended up trying to make a smoothie recipe for the blog, but realised it was far too simple to post. So that’s another idea that didn’t cut it.

Oh, and my camera completely broke. Not sure what happened, but this is how the screen froze. I removed the battery, fully charged it, hoping it was a glitch… but it wasn’t. It’s gone. So that’s something I will need to take care of tomorrow.

Also this laptop I’m currently typing on is dying on me as well, so I will have to fix this too.

Everything happens at once, it seems.

Yesterday it was supposed to be a sunny day, and since Felix and I spend Saturdays together, we decided to drive to Camber Sands, which is less than 2 hours away.

The weather was very windy, and kept switching from rainy to sunny to rainy, but the beach was stunning, as usual.

Edgar and Maya love it there, and I do as well. The beach is so open and peaceful.

Look at all these cute houses!

I actually recorded some clips, so I may edit a video, but if I don’t have enough, I may not upload it. Will see. I never know these days, haha.

Anyway, that’s about it for this week. The vast majority of my time went into developing the different projects I’m working on, and the best progress we have made is regarding the winter clothing line: all the fabrics have been selected, and we managed to bring down the price (originally it was going to be very expensive); I’ve also changed the theme of the line, so it won’t be bees anymore, and all the designs are finished, so we are currently going onto the sampling phase!

Sorry that I haven’t been able to reply to your comments, just know that I always appreciate seeing you here.

How is August going for you, so far?

WINDY.

July 27th, 2017

A chilly summer evening.

Yesterday I had a work meeting. On the way home, the wind was pretty intense, and since I was all dressed up, I decided to stop by outside and take a few photos.

This isn’t really a post about anything, if not a quick update.

This year, so far, I’ve been really focusing on making projects come to life. Right when I think I have plenty on my table, I come up with a new idea, and something new begins.

The fact that I’m working on the winter clothing line is not a secret, but I have a total of 5 different projects coming up, which will all be revealed this autumn and winter (if everything goes as planned).

One of these secret stuff includes Felix. I’m very excited about it because we have never really worked on creating anything together, but we are both putting lots of effort into it. It’s taking a pretty long time, but it will be worth it once it’s all ready to go!

Changing subject, can we appreciate how cute Maya looks in this photo? It’s not properly focused, but she is too adorable.

It’s morning here right now, so I’m gonna get started with my day.

Hope you liked the photos!

PAMPERING.

July 23rd, 2017

With new products.

I’ve been collecting lots of boxes full of new products to try out.

Today is a rainy Sunday, and so I spent the afternoon opening everything up and use it, so I could write about it on here.

I’ve had this package from Tarte for a few weeks but never came across opening it, mostly because I peeked inside and noticed that I already had almost everything.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautifully they put this together?

But as I said, I already have most of these things – of course, I love them all – so I am giving away the foundation, the palette and the blush at the end of this post. (I’m keeping some things for my mom). Because of it, I’m not gonna go through these products again on a blog post – just know that I really like them all!

I don’t know if I ever mentioned it before, but 99% of my makeup brushes are from Tarte. So I’m keeping these two to myself cause they are too good. Hehe.

Other makeup and skincare stuff came from Milk, Soap&Glory, and Cover FX. I’ve never heard of the latest, so I was curious to give it a go.

They sent me this minimal-looking bottle of setting spray, which says ‘illuminating’ but I’m not sure how exactly that would work. I couldn’t tell any difference from other setting sprays I use, but I go through them pretty fast so I was glad to get a new one, and I really enjoy the way the mist feels.

I’ve sprayed some over the plant (not actually on it) so you could see the blurriness and get an idea of how, when you spray it, it creates this ‘soft cloud’. All of this to say that I like how the mist is sprayed across the entire face gently. Hopefully this makes sense.

If I had to point out one thing I didn’t love, is the scent, but it doesn’t truly matter.

Zoe also sent me her newest line the day it came out. I saw on Instagram that she had a little ice cream truck by the Pavilion to promote it, which was such a great idea!

The packagings are really good (and I like the names as well). The one thing that I didn’t expect was the scent, because she picked elderflower and pomegranate for all the products, whilst the names were gelato (ice-cream) and jelly inspired – so I expected something on those lines. Either way, it smells totally fine.

I love the look of the bath fizzies, very cute. I used too little so I didn’t really get to see much fizz, but I was planning on using many more stuff in the water anyway.

Whilst I was preparing the bath, I poured one of these packets containing ‘bath milk powder’ which basically makes your water cloudy.

I was excited about this, cause as you pour it, it creates a beautiful effect. I wasn’t able to catch it on camera unfortunately!

Lush also sent me stuff, which as you know, always makes me happy. This time they included two bath bombs, two jelly face masks, and two hair treatments.

I was looking through the papers they attached for me, showing the new stuff available, and instantly wished I had the rocket bath bomb. I’m most likely gonna pop into the shop tomorrow and grab one!

The product I was most excited about was this face mask: first of all, I’ve never tried a jelly face mask before, so it was pretty fun – although quite tricky at first; and also the ingredients all sounds good to me (chamomile, honey, rose oil – all ingredients I look for in my skincare).

Oh! Not to mention the name ‘Bunny Moon’ which is also translated in Japanese ‘Tsuki no Usagi’. This mask must have been made for me.

After using it, I could actually tell a drastic difference. I’m not saying it because I wanted it to be good (for the reasons listed above) but because I could truly tell it worked for me: I’ve been battling pretty bad breakouts in the past few days, so my skin is red and angry in some areas. After washing this off, the redness was much less obvious, and my skin was very soft.

Since I was preparing a bath I figured I would give a go to the hair mask as well. It wasn’t really time to wash my hair yet, but hey.

I love how these come with the wooden stick and instructions, and this red one smells like cinnamon – which I love – but the ingredients didn’t list cinnamon so maybe I’m going crazy.

You just let the product melt in hot water and then put it on your head for 20 minutes.

Quite simple, but it got quite messy. And very chunky.

Washing it off fully was also a bit tricky, but my hair smells amazing so, even tho I wouldn’t do it regularly, maybe once every couple of months could work for me.

I then popped the darker bath bomb into the water, and I was not ready for it.

With Lush, most bath bombs are just very pretty to look at, so when I put this in I expected for the black to be a thin layer, and then the inside to be very colourful.

That wasn’t the case.

My first thought was ‘why’. Then ‘oh, kind of creepy. Black water’. And finally ‘I like this’.

It was just fun. The foam felt a bit different, it kind of ‘attached’ softly to the skin to further moisturise. I don’t know, maybe it’s not the prettiest, but I ended up really enjoying it!

Going back to Zoella’s products, I’ve then used the scrub, which was not as grainy as my usual ones – definitely more on the gentle side.

But it was a nice surprise when I opened up the body cream as it had these pink dots everywhere. Nice touch!

I’ve almost forgot to mention that I’ve used the ‘Soft’ line by Maria Nila to wash my hair. I use the ‘Heal’ one on a regular basis, but I’m about to run out of it so when I saw this package I was incredibly happy, so I have a replacement.

I love this brand a lot. It’s vegan, cruelty free, from Sweden, and the packagings are gorgeous. Plus, the shampoo and conditioners usually match the colours of their bottles.

They included a heat protectant, which seems quite strange as it’s in cream format (resembling more of a leave in conditioner). I’ve tried it with wet hair, but I’m curious to know if it would work on dry hair before curling it, or if it creates a paste? Have you tried it?

On my face I used the Matcha cleanser stick by Milk, followed by the toner. I really like these, they are so convenient and feel so nice when you apply them onto your skin because it feels like a mini massage.

Finally, I wanted to quickly talk about this… serum? I’m not sure if it’s a serum, a moisturiser, or something else, but I’ve been applying it in the morning because you can smell the Vitamin C, making me feel like it’s waking up my skin.

Plus, it looks so pretty.

After pampering myself, and taking photos of all the products, I looked over at the couch and saw Maya looking adorable, so I had to photograph her as well! She has a cold, apparently (we went to the vet again yesterday). She keeps coughing and sneezing, but the vet said it should only last a couple of days.

How have you spent your Sunday?

Oh! Of course! The giveaway.

In here is some makeup and a face mask. If you wanna enter, just comment “SNEEZE” and you will be counted it. Open internationally. Random pick. Winner announced tomorrow, so come back here to check if you are the lucky one!

July 17, 2017

Hello, Menorca.

July 17th, 2017

A romantic weekend.

Felix and I have talked about going away for a weekend since summer begun, and finally we decided to buy some plane tickets, book a hotel, and fly to Menorca.

We left on Friday, arriving at the hotel at around 5pm. Luckily, the weather was wonderful, and we had a few hours of sun left to enjoy before it got dark.

Bathing Suit: LOST INK

We left our bags at the hotel and run down to the gorgeous beach.

I loved the sandy beach, but having these massive rocks creating a moon shape around it was breathtaking.

This is Cala Galdana, if anyone is curious. My friend Anna often comes to Menorca, and she suggested that we would check out Cala Macarelleta, and even tho – on maps – they seem to be located quite nearby, going there by car would take around an hour. So we opted to stay in this area.

When the sun started to set, we knew it was time to get ready for dinner.

Dress: LAZZARI

After changing, we still couldn’t stay away from the beach: at this time, it was even more relaxing as most people were eating, so it was very quite and romantic.

On Saturday, our full day there, I really wanted to get to see a city.

We left the hotel in the morning and with a 30 minutes car ride, we reached Ciutadella de Menorca, which is the old town.

This place was so lovely, and had much more to offer than what I’ve expected.

Dress: VIVETTA

All the buildings and roads were so picturesque.

I kept taking photos everywhere.

Even tho the weather was pretty hot, it was also very windy, so walking around wasn’t painful but actually quite nice.

We walked across the main street, I believe, and ended up in a small square.

And there was this windmill, that looks like it would belong in Greece, but still looks amazing in this setting.

Bathing Suit: Top –ASOS // Bottom – ASOS

After lunch we got back to our hotel and enjoyed another afternoon at the beach.

We bought these ‘2014 Brazil’ rackets and tried to play in the water, but we didn’t manage to keep the ball going for long. But hey, it was still fun!

In the evening we decided to go on a restaurant build on the big rock I’ve photographed earlier: the setting was stunning, and the path there was so pretty.

OUTFIT: Dress – ASOS // Necklace – FAWNSTAR

I took the chance to wear a fancy dress. I’ve had this waiting to be worn, in my closet, for a while, so it was nice to be able to put it on.

It was a very quick trip, but getting a break to enjoy the sun, whilst being with each other for a couple of days, was all we wanted.

I still can’t get over the view.
