Some days, writing just doesn’t work. Some days, my mind prefers to draw instead.
Today I rediscovered the joy of drawing by hand (rather than by computer). Contrary to my fears, I feel I haven’t quite lost my skills all together.
This style is a bit rough, but more natural and far less time consuming than doing all the lineart in Illustrator. With that in mind I’m redoing the first ‘oval’ portrait I did for “Dark Eyes” in the same style, and the sketch of Anne is on my list to do after that.

The darkest night…
…is pitch-black and seemingly endless.
Suffice to say this past week was not the best of times for me. Chronic depression is never fun, but you learn to live with it. That is doable, until something snaps and you are reminded of the full depths of it. The way up is hard, as always, and it is even harder to keep your sight on the silver lining. But nothing lasts forever. Really, nothing. To quote the miserables of Les Misérables: “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” Eventually, anyway.
Unfortunately this situation has caused progress on the various projects to slow, but it is not entirely stunned:
The work on DE#11 is minimal and I may get it done tonight, meaning I can start the week afresh with writing part 12. Either way, the upcoming newsletter will include a new instalment! “Res Arcana: Chalices” is waiting for the finished cover and interior design, and will be published as soon after.

New: progress bars!
I care a lot about keeping my promises, and this shows exactly what I promised and how far I am bringing that to you!
EDIT: Now with greatly improved design!
I just added a spiffy new feature on the Current Projects page. From now on, I will keep you posted on how the projects I’m working on are coming along with these:
These progress bars show you how I’m progressing with project from the moment I begin planning to the moment it is ready for publication. They will be updated once a week, or more often if the work goes faster.
