Recent Readings

My personal reading has been hit or miss recently but there have been a few good ones.  I judged for the FF&P chapter of RWA for their PRISM contest. I enjoyed my first time as a judge but I won't be mentioning the titles. Here is what I've been perusing:

The SoulGirls series by Heather Long - A hint of paranormal mystery with the fun of a Vegas casino.  I read all four of the available titles and I'm anxiously waiting for the next one.  Here is the link to Heather's page f...

The Dungeon Tower on Veil Isle

From Assassin's Soul, a fantasy with romantic elements novella.

They crested the hilltop, and she glimpsed the crumbling tower. "Why

do you let it fall into disrepair?" Caitlyn asked, curious. Earth Mages

could restore the ochre clay bricks with a bit of magic.

"Ashe Tower is not a vacation spot. Prisoners are sent

here for the safety of others, not a restful holiday."

While the foundation and supports appeared in good condition, she didn't believe the build...

I love the Marvel Universe

Full disclosure, I loved Marvel characters more than DC characters overall.  Batman is an exception but there are so many more Marvel characters to like.

Marvel learned how to bring in the original comic readers with the new generation of movie goers. Their extended plan of merging individual character story lines with the group dynamics is genius.  I don't know how many times I've replayed the Iron Man, Thor and Captain America movies.  And Avengers is in a league by itself (...

Ellemarlene Map Reveal Part 2

Once Ellemarlene was part of a vast Empire but then the Dragon and Phoenix clans went to war. What was once fertile land full of life, is now a dry empty desert. The stories say it is a wasteland full of weird creatures, large lakes of molten fire, and it takes at least three days to cross without resources for food or water. But who can say what is real and what isn't because no one has returned from a trip into the Burning Desert.

Ellemarlene is the center of life in the region. There a...

Ellemarlene Map Reveal Part 1

Part of the fun of a fantasy story is visiting a new world. Today I'm revealing the first part of the map I've created for the area surrounding Ellemarlene, the main city in my new novella Assassin's Soul. Wednesday the second section will release and then the complete map on Friday.

Veil Isle is the island where the mages make their home. It's a 3 day sail from the mainland and they use the round gate for instantaneous travel between the island and Ellemarlene. There is a dungeon to...

Sneak Peek Sunday

Welcome.  My sneak peek is from my soon-to-be-released fantasy with romantic elements novella Assassin's Soul. The story has magic, death and a touch of romance. Enjoy the preview:

Close to the jagged cave

ceiling, she climbed over the rail of the circular scaffold. The walls

amplified the collective babble into something akin to a dragon’s roar. For a

group who made their living executing silent deeds, they chattered more than a

pack of nobles' daughters.

The

rickety platform...

Spring Break

Spring Break starts for my kids today.  It's exciting and my worst nightmare at the same time.  Usually the kids go wild and crazy and I try to survive the week.  This week our weather is cold, wet and dreary.  Not what I was hoping for in the way of taking the kids out exploring places.  I still have two more days of edits to go through on Assassin's Soul so maybe by the end of the week the weather guys will be wrong and we'll have some sunshine.

What do you do on y...
