Spring Cleaning

When my husband and I surveyed our messy kitchen the other day, I joked, “Too bad one of us isn’t compulsively neat.” No matter our good intentions, magazines, envelopes, boxes from Amazon, and do-dads accumulate.

Spring has officially made her appearance! Already? It’s dark this morning, but I hear pairs of chickadees and robins outside twittering. Yet I’m not in the mood to tidy our nest. Are you?

All Stressed Out

Last week, I realized I hadn’t taken my blood pressure for months. I keep a battery-operated cuff in the TV room where I’m apt to see and use it. After viewing the 5:00 news, I was stunned to measure my blood pressure and find it elevated. I did the same procedure three days in a row and experienced the same disappointing result. I’ve heard heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. Yikes!

The fourth afternoon, instead of news, I watched the 1944 movie Wuthering Heights, based on E...

Weekend Walk

Instead of going to the gym my husband accompanied me on a stroll!

Looking east, we paused at the shore of Lake Washington.

Patience Versus Promptness

I recall as a teenager staring out the classroom window in March, April, and May, counting down the days until school let out for the summer. A classic case of Spring Fever. I wonder how many of you reading this are suffering from the same malady right now.

I’m impatiently waiting for these daffodils to return at the Urban Horticulture Center.

Speaking of fevers, I remember many years ago lingering in a doctor’s exam room for hours until 5:00, closing time. A startled looking nurse eventually...

Valentine’s Day: Sweet Success or Monumental Failure?

Many years ago, a girlfriend mentioned her husband had never bought her flowers on Valentine’s Day. My heart was in the right place, but my brain was on vacation. I picked up the phone and ordered her a small arrangement with a card that read “From you know who,” assuming she would recall our recent conversation. But she didn’t, and gushed all over her husband when he got home from work. He was not amused. Lesson learned: Do not buy your married girlfriends flowers on Valentine’s Day. Have yo...

Joshua’s Mission – Finding romance and grace in the midst of disaster

Thank you for allowing me to visit your blog today. I’m very excited about the release of Joshua’s Mission (2-1-16), which is book 2 in my Plain & Simple Miracles series. This book is a Christian romance story, but some of you may wonder … how do you find romance in the midst of a disaster? And how is this sort of story about the grace of God? Great questions!
