Coming Soon to a Bookstore Near You…The first half of 2014 revealed!

2014 is going to be an awesome, action packed year of full length novels, many of which (but not all) I am revealing the covers for. I’ve been in a cover design flurry for the past few days and am excited to share the results. But don’t just peek at the cover. There is also an announcement down at the bottom of this post. Also, fun fact, ALL of these covers were designed by me, even the Thomas Dunne book, which is super fun for me. First up, XOM-B! This is my next hardcover release from Thomas Dunne Books. It’s due out on April 29 and available for pre-order now!

Due out in July, this is the next full length  Jack Sigler thriller, picking up where OMEGA left off, BUT also offering a fresh start to new readers who might not want to read the bazillion Jack Sigler books before this to catch up. With all of the plot lines from the first six novels wrapped up in Omega, we’re free to blaze a new trail and submit the team to some of their worst, most painful—and deadly—threats yet. Sometimes, a chess piece has to be sacrificed… Yeah, I know, I’m awful. Maybe I’m screwing with you, maybe I’m not. You’ll find out in July.

Let’s face it. The Jack Sigler/Chess Team universe is getting large. With seven novels and nine novellas, there are a lot of characters, locations, plots and details to keep track of. So, together with Kane Gilmour, co-author of RAGNAROK, OMEGA and CALLSIGN: DEEP BLUE, I will be putting out ENDGAME, a comprehensive guide book for all things Jack Sigler and/or Chess Team. If I get my way, it will include illustrations of key characters and monsters, and hint at future novels. Aiming for a release date shortly after SAVAGE.

Genetics gone awry? Real life GMO food threats? How’s that float your boat? No? How about this: The end of the human race. Not enough? The end of ALL LIFE as we know it! Better! THE HUNGER is a post-apocalyptic survival story unlike any that have come before it. And no, it’s not zombies. That would be preferable to what I’ve got brewing in this dark, breakneck-paced novel. That’s all I’m saying for now. The goal for this book’s release is September, but it could be sooner or later depending on how things go.

And now, announcement time!! This year, I’ll be releasing THREE novels with co-author, Sean Ellis (who co-authored PRIME and the CALLSIGN: KING trilogy). The first of these three novels is above: SAVAGE, the seventh Jack Sigler Thriller. Next up, and pictured to the right, is FLOOD RISING! This is a brand spanking new thriller series featuring Jenna Flood, a fifteen year old girl with a mysterious background, uncanny abilities and a penchant for being hunted by different factions of bad guys, some out for blood, some for control. With pacing based on SECONDWORLD, you know it’s going to be a fast read! Our release date goal for this book is October. And if that’s not enough to get you excited, how about this? Sean is joining me to bring you an EIGHTH JACK SIGLER THRILLER! There is no title or cover yet, but we’re already hashing out the story and man oh man, it’s crazy. This book will (hopefully) be out in December, in time to make your Christmas merry. Last but not least, I’m also planning on a Project 731 novel, continuing the Nemesis storyline and merging it fully with ISLAND 731. No cover for that, either.

GUARDIAN has arrived!

When I came up with the idea for Omega, the latest full length Jack Sigler/Chess Team novel, I knew the events of that book would spawn a new series covering the events hinted at in Omega, but not covered in detail. GUARDIAN is the first book in that series, which I’ve dubbed, The Jack Sigler Continuum series and is co-authored by the very awesome J. Kent Holloway. Kent is not only an excellent writer, but also a hardcore fan of the series, and I think that really comes through in this story.

THE QUEST FOR WORLD DOMINATION – 2013 REVIEW!

Greetings underlings! Err, I mean, loyal readers. Well, hopefully loyal. Actually, I’d be happy if you just stumbled across me now. Whoever you are, it’s no secret that I’m ambitious, probably to a fault. So each year I set a few goals (not resolutions) and then work hard at reaching them, beating them into submission and consuming them like a binge eating Galactus (the big purple world eating dude with the multiverse’s loudest helmet—seriously, what’s up with that helmet?). The last few years I’ve taken a morsel of time to look back at the previous year and fill you in on what it to come.

2013, much like 2011, was a year of unchecked ambition. I published a stupid amount of books.

Yeah, that’s fourteen books. Eight of them came out between October and December. And sure, one is coming out in a week, but its close enough to 2013 to count. And yes, one of them is a collection of the previously published Antarktos Saga, but it includes a long interview with fan provided questions, and a new short story, AND it was released as an 800 page hardcover novel with 20+ illustrations from four artists!

How did I do compared to last year?

In 2012, I sold 82,431 self-published books (e-book, print and audio). That was a 31% sales increase over 2011. In 2013, I sold 105,040 self-published books for a sales increase of 28%. My goal was a 30% increase, but that’s close enough for me! None of those numbers include books sold by major publishers, which I only get every six months and are harder to tally by year. Overall, this was a fantastic year for sales, in part, because of the copious amount of books I released.

What’s coming out next year?

In a word: less. Fourteen books a year, even with co-authors is not sustainable. Seriously, some small presses with staff publish less, and I am, after all, human. Actually, let me reword that… I am, for now, human. Once I get my robot body, fourteen books a year will be a piece of cake. So, what’s on the docket for 2014?

ISLAND 731 – February 2014 – The mass market paperback edition of ISLAND 731.

GUARDIAN – February 2014 – The first book in the Continuum series, co-authored with Kent J. Holloway, which (potential spoiler for those who haven’t read OMEGA) follows King’s exploits in the past.

XOM-B – April 2014 – I know that a lot of authors say this about every book they read, but I don’t I try to reserve it for when I really mean it: XOM-B is the best book I’ve written, hands down and if it doesn’t get my name on the New York Times Bestseller list, nothing will.

SAVAGE – July 2014 – This is the seventh Jack Sigler/Chess Team novel, picking up after OMEGA, co-authored by Sean Ellis, who also co-authored PRIME and the CALLSIGN: KING – BRAINSTORM TRILOGY.

Okay, now here’s where things get sketchy. After July, things aren’t set in stone. Why? Because I’m going to be working on a short film based on one of my upcoming 2015 novels, THE DISTANCE. I don’t know when we’ll be shooting, or fundraising, or going to film festivals, or whatever else we’ll need to do, so my writing schedule could get jostled a bit. But if I get my way, I’ll find time to make the movie AND write/publish two more novels in 2014. They are:

THE HUNGER – September 2014 – A post apocalyptic story with gobs of monsters and the end of humanity as we know it (yah!).

PROJECT 731 – The third book in the Kaiju Thriller series featuring Nemesis, Jon Hudson and the FC-P with returning special guests from ISLAND 731. And yes, the title implies that we’ll be picking back up with element of ISLAND 731 and the Nemesis storyline.

So, five new novels for 2014. Maybe six, but that’s a secret project I’m not sure about yet. But, if everything goes right, 2014 will also be the year I break into the movie biz and we start to see my stories on the page and the big screen. And let’s be honest, that would be absolutely bad-ass.

As for what I’m writing in 2014. I’ll be co-authoring GUARDIAN and SAVAGE, and possibly writing THE HUNGER and PROJECT 731, but I will also be writing two novels that will be released, in hardcover, in 2015. They are CRAZY and THE DISTANCE, which is being co-authored by my amazing wife, Hilaree.

I’ve got high hopes for 2014. Not only am I planning to kick down the doors of Hollywood, but I also have high expectations for Xom-B. Seriously, anything less than the NY Times Bestseller list will disappoint me. See that ambition? Ugh. Where 2013 was about putting out a crap-ton of books, 2014 will be about kicking things to the next level. Hope you come along for the ride!

And before you ask, no, the photo of Obama with ISLAND 731 is not real. Nor was last year’s Snooki reading PROJECT NEMESIS image (which seems to have fooled a few people).

THE LAST HUNTER – Collected Edition – Available Now!

This project has been in the works for about a year now and is the culmination of four years of writing, editing and designing. SUMMARY:
