Teaseday – Prophecy: Child of Light (Vampires Realm Romance Series Book 1) Plus FREE EBOOK
Today’s tease comes from the book Prophecy: Child of Light, which is the first book in my popular Vampires Realm romance series.
Read on for this Tuesday’s tease… it’s a bit of a long one this week! I hope you enjoy it. It’s one of my favourite scenes in the book.
It had been a nice ending to the night, but in a way, he was sad that it was over so soon. He had barely managed to dance with her at the ball. Everything had moved so swiftly once he’d caught hold of her and in the blink of an eye it was over.
He looked up at the flickering neon sign above the hotel entrance and then down at her. He sighed. She looked beautiful standing there bathed in the dim light from the hotel. Her lips were smiling at him. Her eyes were still hidden behind her mask, giving her a mysterious look even though he knew who she was beneath it.
“There is someone we must visit tomorrow,” he said, his eyes still fixed on her apparel. “Pack your things and wait for me in your room. I will come for you shortly after sunset.”
He raised his eyes to meet hers. He could see by the way they were narrowed that she was frowning at him. It seemed so wrong to give her such a beautiful dress and only let her wear it for one dance, especially when most of that dance had been passed in the arms of other men. The memory of watching them touching her still made his blood boil. He hadn’t been able to stop himself from reacting. Seeing their hands on her had made him more than a little jealous.
He’d been ready to tear their throats open.
He’d wanted to massacre them all just for looking at her.
He clenched his fists and reined in his anger, not wanting her to see the effect that she had on him. He glanced up at her through his eyelashes and found her looking at him with concern.
“I wish…” He took a deep breath and sighed it out as he straightened up, reminding himself who he was. “I am sorry that we had to leave. I could have danced all night with you. At the risk of sounding ridiculous, I still could…even without the music. I shall see you tomorrow.”
He turned to leave, but found her hand on his arm. She held him tightly, not letting him move.
“You could still dance with me.” Her voice was trembling. He could feel her fingers shaking where they were gripping his jacket. He looked back over his shoulder and found her smiling at him, her eyes silently telling him how much courage it had taken for her to stop him from leaving.
He looked around them at the street. “Here? People will think we are crazy.”
“What people?” She smiled reassuringly and moved closer to him. He stared into her eyes while she reached up and pulled his mask down, covering the top half of his face. “Besides, no one will know who we are. Let them think we’re crazy.”
His hands moved of their own volition, claiming her waist as their prize and pulling her to him until her body was curved against his.
Prophecy took a deep breath, trying not to let her nerves show when his fingers splayed out against her back, holding her flush against him. She rested her hand on his shoulder. She couldn’t take her eyes away from his. Something about seeing him in the mask stirred a heady mix of feelings inside of her that felt as though they were going to carry her away. It felt dangerous and mysterious. She started when his hand caught hers, his fingers wrapping tightly around it and showing her that he wasn’t going to easily let her go.
She moved at the same time as he did, a slow waltz to the silent rhythm of the night. She realised that back at the palace it hadn’t been the music that had made her feel as though she was dancing on air. It had been him. Something about being in his arms made her feel as though she was floating. She smiled up at him and saw his eyes drop to her lips. Her gaze followed his example and she stared at his mouth, watching him wet his lips. Anticipation built inside of her as the tempo of their dance increased. He turned with her, making the whole world disappear until all she could hear was the sound of their boots on the road.
Her breathing stilled when he leaned towards her, his cheek brushing against hers and his hand pressing harder into her back, forcing her chest against his. She stared at the stars above as they spun. Her lips parted when he pressed a kiss to her neck and she didn’t notice that their dancing was slowing; everything seemed to be speeding up to a blur. Her hand left his shoulder and slipped over his neck. He moaned into her throat while he brushed his lips against her skin. Her eyes fell shut and the hand that was holding his was suddenly empty. She bit her lip when she felt his arm wrap around her, his hand coming to rest on her backside. She realised they’d stopped dancing and he was just kissing her neck now, his mouth moving in tantalising patterns against her soft flesh.
She wondered if he would be so bold without a mask to hide behind.
Trailing her hands down to his chest, she pushed him backwards and found eyes full of passion staring into hers. He was breathing heavily and she could feel his desire as he held her close to him. With trembling fingers, she pushed his mask up off his head. She held it for a moment before letting it clatter to the floor, and then tore her own mask off. She ran her fingers down his cheek, her eyes following them when she swept her thumb across his lower lip. He growled and his teeth extended, catching her thumb. She couldn’t stop herself from changing into her vampire guise when she saw the small bloom of blood seeping into her glove. Her whole body ached at the sight of it. She was about to bring it to her mouth when he caught her wrist and took her thumb into his mouth. Her stomach tightened when his tongue brushed against the cut, a moan escaping her lips.
She frantically pulled him against her and his arm tightened around her waist. He released her hand and began to dance with her again, his body moulding against hers and his movements fluid. Only, she wasn’t dancing any more. Her feet weren’t moving. He was holding her off the ground, spinning with her and making her giddiness become dizziness. Her head fell backwards and she stared at the black sky above them, her lips open in a silent laugh as she smiled at it.
She dug her fingers into his hair when he pressed a kiss to her bosom and worked his way back up to her neck. She growled and held him there, not wanting to let him go. She needed more from him. A giggle escaped her lips when he growled in response and it rumbled through her own chest. The feeling of his kisses was divine. His teeth caught her skin, making small points of pain punctuate the pleasure. She pressed her body into him, leaning further backwards so he had to get closer to her in order to reach her neck. He growled threateningly into her ear and pressed his hand into her back, forcing her to straighten up. His teeth scraped her neck and she let out a small cry.
He tenderly kissed her throat, his tongue lapping at the tiny wounds he’d created and sealing them. She swore she could hear music as they continued to turn, clinging to each other in a passionate embrace. The sounds of the night seemed to make a tune when combined with the echo of Valentine’s boots along the dark empty road. She could hear the fountains in the square, the distant cars and the insects and night creatures.
She closed her eyes and lost herself in it, her body going limp in his strong arms while she focused on the sounds and the feeling of Valentine’s persuasive kisses. She sighed when he lowered her so her feet were touching the floor again and pressed one final kiss to her neck.
She didn’t know what to say when she opened her eyes and stared into his.
“I…” He started but dropped his gaze to rest on the floor.
She smiled. She should’ve known that he wouldn’t know the right words either. She picked up her mask and then his, and stared at it. It was strange that it had taken hiding behind a mask for him to discover the courage to act on his desires. She wished that he’d taken it one step further and had found the strength to properly kiss her. In her vision, it had felt divine. In real life, she was sure it would feel even better.
She held the mask out to him but he didn’t take it. He just stared at it. She let both of the masks slip down her arm, dangling by the ribbons that were still tied from when they had been wearing them. She started to frown and then found herself being pulled up against him again. When he stared into her eyes, she could see the tempestuous mix of emotions in them. There was so much fire and passion, so much uncertainty and nerves. Her hands coursed up his arms, coming up over his shoulders to his neck and settling on either side of his face. She looked deep into his eyes, trying to show him that they both wanted what he was considering. She wanted to kiss him into oblivion.
She heard him swallow and saw that the fire in his eyes was fading. He was getting control of himself again. She silently cursed him when his hands left her sides and he sighed.
“You should go in. It is not safe out here.”
She frowned. Not safe out here? She looked around at the empty street. There was nothing out here but him. Did he think she wasn’t safe around him? Didn’t he trust himself?
“What’s wrong?”
He looked at her out of the corner of his eye.
“On the train, when you made me…” He pointed at her neck. “I thought something that I should not have. I thought many things I should not have.”
She was going to ask him to elaborate when she saw the look in his eyes. It told her everything she needed to know. It had been her vision that had driven him to want to do things to her, things that no man had done to her. Things that he was destined to do to her.
“Oh.” She stared wide-eyed at him.
His shoulders sagged the tiniest amount and she could almost visualise the pressure that was weighing down on him. She stroked his cheek and brought his head around so he was facing her again, but let him keep his eyes fixed on the floor.
“I…I should thank you for the dress…and the dance…it was…” She didn’t know how to put into words what she wanted to tell him. All she had to say was that she wouldn’t have stopped him, but the words hung unspoken in the air between them. She hated the awkwardness it created and cursed her weakness.
“You should go in.” He turned away from her, leaving her outstretched hand empty.
“Valentine?” She hurried towards him, placing her hand on his shoulder. He felt tense underneath her fingers. She wanted to tell him not to think the things she had seen in his eyes. There was nothing to regret. He’d done nothing wrong by wanting to make love to her and he’d done nothing wrong by dancing with her tonight. “I don’t want to go in.”
“You cannot stay out here.” He moved to face her and gave her a small smile. “The sun will come up. You will have to go inside at some point.”
She smiled at his attempt to lighten the atmosphere. It seemed to work for a split second but then it pressed down on her again. Her hand lingered on his shoulder. The light from the hotel sign was playing on his features and she noticed the blood on his lips. He couldn’t have taken more than a sip from her when he was kissing her neck. She wanted to kiss him, wanted to taste the blood and know it was hers. She was inside him just as he was inside her, but it hadn’t been their blood working its will tonight. He had wanted to kiss her, had wanted to have her in his arms and from the look in his eyes he’d wanted to do much more besides.
She wanted it all.

Sensual Sunday – Hot excerpt from Crave (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series Book 2) plus FREE EBOOK
Sensual Sunday is brought to you today by Crave, which is the second book in my popular Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series. Sensual Sunday’s always feature a hot excerpt from one of my paranormal romance books. Read on for this Sunday’s sensual snippet… it’s a scorching hot one this week… and opens in a private booth in a nightclub with one very hungry werewolf and one very wicked vampire…
Callum backed her up until her calves hit the curved leather seat of the booth and she fell onto her bottom. He towered over her, immense and beautiful, dark and deadly, just the sight of him exciting her. Kristina tried to stand again but he pressed his right hand to her shoulder and forced her back onto the seat.
He tugged at the knot of his dark purple tie and loosened it before slipping the two sides free of each other. His fingers started on the buttons of his black shirt next and a tiny seed of fear settled in the pit of her stomach, took root, and started to grow.
“We should take this somewhere a little more private,” she said automatically and he paused at his work, his fingers halfway down his chest and the top part of his shirt open to reveal the groove between his pectorals.
Hell, it was hard not to pounce on him and screw him right there on the tacky dirty booth floor. Her gaze stayed rooted on the tiny patch of his chest that she could see, her body willing her to give up the false sense of propriety that had suddenly claimed her and just reach out and take what she wanted.
Callum.
Vampire.
His fingers started their work again and she itched to reach up and join them in revealing his body to her hungry eyes.
“This is private enough,” he husked in a passion roughened voice and smiled reassuringly. “No one will disturb us.”
She wasn’t so sure. There were three male werewolves who had seen her kiss the vampire, and watched them on the dance floor and then exit it for this booth, and one of them had a big old dent in his masculine pride that needed fixing. Male werewolves were ridiculously hard-headed and primal. She didn’t want to look up halfway through scratching her itch for Callum to find a glowering werewolf looming over them.
“I can’t hold out until we find somewhere else.” Callum’s low spoken words barely reached her over the pounding beat of the music but they struck a chord in her.
She raked her gaze over him, burning at a thousand degrees for the cool feel of his hands on her bare body and his mouth claiming hers again. Who was she kidding? She felt the same way. She wouldn’t last until her hotel. If they took a cab, she would probably end up riding him in the backseat for the driver to see. She was running too hot now to turn back.
Kristina grabbed the two sides of the tie resting around his neck, dragged him down to his knees before her, and kissed him again. His tongue thrust into her mouth, cool and dominant, sliding over hers in the most delicious way. The feel of his hands on her thighs and the way they shifted roughly to her backside and tugged her to the edge of the leather seat sent a quiver through her and flooded her mind with images of him using his strength on her in other ways. She shivered at the vision of him grasping her wrists in one hand and sinking his long cock into her, thrusting wildly until they were both sweaty and hot, both gasping for air and exploding with need.
She bit his lower lip and sucked it into her mouth. He groaned and clutched her backside tighter, clawing at her through the denim. Devil, she wanted him inside her now. She tore at his fancy shirt, not caring that she was wrecking it. She would do the same to his trousers next. She wanted him naked and bucking against her.
Fevered and desperate, she grumbled as she reached his waist and tugged the shirt out. Callum growled when she ripped the two sides apart, sending buttons flying and pinging around the booth. He kissed her deeper, rough and hungry, his mouth hard against hers and tongue thrusting and warring with hers. She twisted her fingers in his long black hair, holding him tightly to her mouth, and went to work on his belt with her other hand.
It was undone in the blink of an eye and her hand went straight to his fly.
Callum groaned, tore away from her, and snarled as he undid his trousers for her, shoving them down around his thighs. She didn’t get a chance to catch a glimpse of his erection. The next thing she saw was the dark ceiling of the club as her back hit the seat, her bottom hanging off it and supported by Callum. The ceiling flashed purple and blue as the lights bounced in time with the pounding music. Callum ripped her jeans open, hooked his fingers into the waist at her hips, and whipped them down to her knees.
His irritated growl made her smile. Boots. They were laced too. She was surprised he didn’t just tear her jeans in half to get at her. The vision of him doing such a thing thrilled her. He set to work on one boot and when Kristina realised that it was going to take too long for him to get them both off her and she didn’t want to wait, she sat up and ran a claw up the laces of her other boot and shoved it off. Callum stared wide eyed at what she had done and then did the same to her other boot, using his claws to cut through the laces.
Kristina wriggled on the seat, her panties wet through with need, burning for Callum. He got her jeans off and then grabbed the sides of her underwear. She shuffled to the edge of the couch and pulled her top off over her head as he dealt with her underwear. Her heart pounded at the thought of being caught completely naked by someone but she needed to feel Callum’s bare chest against hers.
His eyes darkened as they found her bare breasts and he palmed them, thumbing her hard nipples. Tingles and shivers danced outwards from their centres and she couldn’t take it. Not this time. She wasn’t looking for foreplay. She needed Callum inside her, had been burning to feel him against her, taking her, all week.
Kristina kissed him again, rough and passionate, a clashing of lips and tongues, and then broke away and looked down between them. His cock was as impressive as she had imagined. She trailed her fingers down the dark line of hair that joined his navel to his erection and then curled her fingers around the granite hard length and squeezed. Callum hissed through his teeth and clenched his jaw, his eyes screwed shut. When they opened again, meeting hers, they were darker than ever, flooded with desire and need that echoed inside her.
He claimed her backside, yanked her to the edge of the seat, and sank his cock into her wet sheath in one hard thrust.

Crave
Felicity Heaton
His mind has been set on his work for the past one hundred years. Now a forbidden beauty has stolen his attention and is threatening to steal his heart too.
Callum has come to the city of romance on business, not pleasure, but when he sets eyes on a gorgeous werewolf in a nightclub, he can’t ignore the dark carnal craving she ignites in him. His work for Vampirerotique, the erotic theatre he runs with three other vampires, can wait. The only thing that matters now is satisfying his sinful hunger for a woman who most vampires would consider an enemy.
Kristina is on the run from her pack. Her alpha is intent on forcing her to bear his child and she’s not about to live through the same nightmare as her mother had. When a tall, dark and sexy vampire catches her eye, she can’t believe the ferocity of the desire he unleashes in her or the fact that she enjoys the feel of his eyes on her and his silent pursuit of her in the clubs each night.
When Kristina finally gets a taste of Callum in a forbidden kiss, will she be strong enough to resist the allure of the vampire and his offer to share his bed for a week of unbridled, wild sex, or will she surrender to her own craving for the safety and passion she finds in his embrace?

Love Immortal – Excerpt
Lauren kicked the hem of her dark jeans so they covered the tongues of her black trainers and then tugged on the sleeves of her plum long sleeve kimono-style top. She smoothed the thin material over her breasts, allowing a modest amount of cleavage to show. It was cold in her top but she wanted to look good. She wanted Julian’s attention.
She combed her fingers through her red hair, twisting the ends so they flicked up and out.
She only wished that she could straighten out her nerves as easily.
Julian had left when she’d been dressing. He’d told her to pass the day away with Kuga, Leo and Piper if she couldn’t sleep, and to come to Duke’s office the next night. Piper had kindly gone out and bought her some beauty products and other necessities. She’d used all of them to make herself look more presentable and as pretty as she could manage. It had taken a while, giving her time to see the night fall and to think about why Julian would want her to go to Duke’s office. Now she stood outside it, trying to get her feelings into order and still wondering what awaited her on the other side.
Only one way to find out.
She opened the dark wooden door and stepped inside. The first thing she noticed was Astra talking to Julian. He stood to her right near the bookcases, with his hand resting on the hilt of his katana where it hung at his side, hidden beneath his coat. Astra glanced over at her and then smiled at Julian with bright red lips, touching his shoulder as she did so. She moved closer to him, a sway in her hips that Lauren didn’t like. It caused the slit up the side of Astra’s long black dress to open and reveal her thigh. Her smile widened and she ran her fingers through her glossy black hair, pushing it out of her face. A flicker of jealousy flared into life inside Lauren when Astra’s fingers slid slowly and sensually over the black material of Julian’s coat and she laughed, high and very feminine, about something.
“You’re looking better.” Duke came out from behind his large mahogany desk and crossed the room to Lauren. “Are you feeling better?”
Lauren threw a furtive glance Julian’s way and saw that Astra was now smiling right into his eyes.
“I was,” she muttered and turned her back on Astra.
Duke frowned. It didn’t suit him. It made his face dark and vicious, and gave him a menacing look when combined with his backdrop of the huge gun collection mounted on the dark red wall behind him. Lauren smiled, hoping to alleviate whatever was bothering him. She touched his arm.
“I’m fine.” Her hand slid down his arm. His gaze followed it intently. She was about to withdraw it when his hand came forwards so they touched. She went to take her hand back but he caught hold of it and turned it palm upwards. His fingertips grazed the lines on her hand, tickling her. “Are you going to tell me my future?”
He laughed—a rich deep sound that made her smile and made his intense brown eyes sparkle. While Astra’s laugh had been forced, Duke’s one had been real, like Kuga and Leo’s. It seemed all the male Ghosts enjoyed a good laugh. Lauren didn’t have the energy to laugh with her heart. She could only manage one as fake as Astra’s.
“I don’t tell fortunes.” Duke’s thumb brushed hers again, a caress that was both sensual and alarming. She stared wide-eyed at him, not knowing what to do. Julian wasn’t watching, and so what if he was? He probably wouldn’t do anything about Duke’s over-attentiveness. She probably meant nothing to him. Her life was a mere blip in his and when she died, another would come along to take her place. “But I could try… for you.”
“That’s fine.” Lauren extricated her hand from his. “I was just joking anyway.”
Duke swept the pad of his thumb over his fingers. Lauren stared at the roses on his palm.
“They’re beautiful tattoos.” She tried to get a closer look but Duke curled his hand up and lowered it.
“They would be if they were tattoos.” He smiled but this time it was as phoney as hers were recently and it didn’t touch his eyes. They were cold and empty, fixed on his fist where it hung at his side.
Another peal of laughter from Astra made Lauren’s fists clench. What on Earth was Julian saying to her that was so funny? Lauren glanced over at them. Julian said something she couldn’t quite hear but his look was serious, no sign of humour in it. When Astra touched Julian’s hair, brushing a rogue black strand from his eyes, Lauren’s temperature shot up.
She couldn’t believe that Astra was openly flirting with Julian, acting as though she wasn’t even there. Not that Julian was hers.
“Are you feeling alright?” Duke said with a look of concern.
Lauren shook her head, cursing the hot tears that burned her eyes. She hated how confused her feelings were, especially when it came to Julian.
Unable to bear hearing Astra with Julian, Lauren looked around her. To the left of the three arched windows was a white door with a green fire escape sign on it. Escape sounded good.
“I need some air.” Lauren went straight out of it and climbed the black metal spiral staircase to the flat roof.
The night was cold, a bitter wind blowing, but it was fresh and soothing, and it cleared her head. Astra’s flirting had hurt her more than she’d thought possible and she didn’t want to think why.
Lauren gripped the black metal railing that edged the roof around the fire escape and stared up at the sky. It was cloudless and inky, but it did nothing to make her smile as clear starry winter nights normally did. She felt as though she was drowning in it, pulled under by feelings that were out of control and that she didn’t understand.
There was a laugh from the room below. Astra.
Lauren’s grip on the icy railing tightened and she glared at the sky. Why wasn’t Julian coming to her? Hadn’t he seen her leave? Had he even noticed that she’d arrived or was he too busy with the beautiful Astra?
She almost laughed at herself. She’d come out into the cold for a reason other than the fresh air. She wanted Julian to come to her. She wanted him to choose between her and Astra. Where had it gotten her? Five minutes had passed and he wasn’t coming. All she’d gained for her stupidity was heartache and misery, and probably the start of a cold.
The door below opened and that same heart jumped for joy until Duke appeared on the staircase. She turned away again. The old warehouse opposite was full of people working. She watched them, remembering that today was Friday and that it was only just gone five. Soon everyone would be going home for the weekend. She wished she could go home.
Her gaze tracked the people. Normal life was going on around her, unaware of the monsters that lurked in the darkness or even walked amongst the office workers. Werewolves appeared human at times. How many of them had jobs? Was one of them down there now, in that office working amongst innocent people?
How many had she met during her life?
“It’s best that you’re not alone right now.” Duke leaned against the railing beside her.
Lauren didn’t look at him. She stared into the office, trying to spot any unusual behaviour that might give someone away as a werewolf and trying to ignore the creeping jealousy and anger in her heart.
“I want to be alone,” she whispered. A man walked past the window on the floor down from her in the office building. He seemed inconspicuous enough and he didn’t pay the slightest bit of attention to her. In the darkness, he probably wouldn’t be able to see her. The moon wasn’t strong tonight. It was nothing but a sliver in the sky, surrounded by bright twinkling stars that not even the city lights could drown out.
“So you didn’t come out here to get Julian’s attention then?”
Lauren tensed. Was it that obvious? If it was, why hadn’t Julian come? Didn’t he want to be with her?
She laughed, more at herself than at what Duke had said. “Not at all.”
Duke sighed and ran his fingers back and forth along the black railing, his short fingernails scraping at the paint.
“Astra can be incorrigible and Julian is too polite.” He paused and turned around so his back was resting against the bar. Lauren looked over the edge and wondered how Duke could be so trusting of the balcony railing. It was a long drop to the quiet road below and the rail didn’t feel that sturdy under her fingers. Wasn’t he frightened of death? “Come back in.”
“I’m fine out here.” She wasn’t. She was freezing and miserable, but it was better than being around Astra. In the office, people were coming and going, some were leaving for the night. Life was going on without her. This past day she’d lost touch with the world and had felt as though only her, the Ghosts, Julian and the werewolves had existed. She’d forgotten that people still had lives to lead.
Lauren expected Duke to go back inside but he didn’t move. He hummed a tune for a while, a melody that she didn’t recognise, and then sighed. Her eyes shifted to him. He was watching her. When he saw her looking, he smiled.
She wished that it was Julian with her.
“How are you holding up?” Duke’s words were quiet and cautious, giving Lauren the impression that he felt as though he was handling fragile glass that was likely to smash at any given moment.
She was stronger than he thought then, but weaker than she needed to be.
“This wasn’t exactly what I had imagined when I had wanted to know who I was and what I wanted out of life.” Lauren smiled back at him, genuine and heartfelt, amused by how she’d longed to discover who she was and now that she had, part of her wanted to go back to her old life. “It isn’t what I wanted.”
Duke placed his hand on her shoulder. The weight of it against her was comforting, the warmth of his hand noticeable through her top. He frowned, removed his dark grey suit jacket and placed it around her shoulders. It warmed her through and she took hold of both sides of it, pulling it as closed as possible, and smiled her thanks at Duke.
“There isn’t a person here who hasn’t been through this moment of disbelief and fear.” His voice was low, intimate. It unnerved her slightly but she didn’t pull away from him. Instead, she looked up at the moon, feeling drawn to it tonight. “None of us felt more than a shadow of what you must feel though.”
It was hard to drag her eyes away from the moon but she managed it. Duke’s brown eyes were black in the low light, dark pools that were bottomless and empty but shining with feeling. Was he flirting with her again? She was never sure whether Duke was just being friendly or whether he was after something more than that. Just a few days ago, she would have said that he was too old for her because he was in his forties. Now she couldn’t use that excuse, not when she wanted a man who was three thousand years her senior. Duke touched her chin, making her jump, and slowly tilted her head back.
“I never imagined that you would be so—”
The sound of sliding metal sent ice racing over her nerve endings. Duke’s hand fell from her face and the corners of his lips lifted into a smile. His eyes slid to the side, towards the staircase.
“All yours, big man,” he said with an easy, unaffected air. “I was just giving her a little needed company.”
He walked away, taking his jacket with him. Lauren’s gaze followed him but halted when she saw Julian. He blinked slowly. The tiny trace of moonlight made his eyes shimmer. He’d changed into whatever state it was that he normally fought in. His sword was slightly drawn, a sliver of blade reflecting the moon. He slid it back and looked at the staircase with a frown as the door below closed, and then back at her.
Did he perceive Duke as a threat?
Lauren dragged her courage up to her chest and turned to face Julian. He stared at her, his silver irises eerie but beautiful. She stepped towards him, until she could feel the heat coming from him. Her heart sped, driven by her rising fear, but she reached up towards his face. His gaze shifted to her hands but she didn’t stop. Not this time.
This time she was going to seize the moment.
She was going to be strong.
With trembling fingers, she unclipped the two bands of metal that held the thick funnel collar of his coat closed. She sucked in a sharp breath of anticipation that he stole when the collar fell open to reveal the defined line of his jaw and his straight nose—all masculine and classical beauty. Her gaze fell to his sensual dusky lips. They tempted her, begging for a kiss that she would all too willingly give him. Her tongue swept over her dry lips and she swallowed. Her whole body warmed when she thought about what she wanted him to do right now, and the things she dreamed he would do in private.
“Show me.” Her eyes locked with his.
A flicker of a frown creased his brow and his eyes searched hers, as though he was trying to read her mind.
Now that he was unmasked and she’d leapt the first hurdle with relative ease, she found the strength to continue. It was a shame that she couldn’t find her voice. It failed her, but where it did, a touch could succeed, and it would be a far sweeter form of success.
Her thumb caressed the line of his jaw, as light as she could manage, running over scratchy dark stubble until she reached his chin. A momentary shiver danced through her along with a sense of concern. Her eyes widened as she stared into Julian’s. Not her feelings but his. They were all there in his silver eyes. He was worried. He’d realised what she was asking of him.
Did he think that it would frighten her? She wanted to see what would happen to her. She’d seen the scars on his wrist. Bite marks. When his lips parted, she would see fangs instead of teeth. And she needed to see them. If he showed her, if she saw them with her own eyes, then maybe she would finally totally accept that this was real and that it would happen to her soon.
“Let me see,” she whispered, low and coaxing, no longer nervous.
His lips parted to reveal the barest hint of pointed canines. Caught in a trance, transfixed by the sight of them, she rubbed the pad of her thumb across his lower lip. It was soft and warm. He breathed in sharply, his reaction empowering her, and his mouth opened to reveal his fangs. They glistened in the moonlight, white and sharp, but they didn’t frighten her.
What did was the fact that his gaze shifted to her neck.
Her heart hammered against her chest, blood rushing through her head. She shifted her eyes upwards to his and froze, mesmerised by the way he was staring at her neck with such forceful hunger glowing in his eyes. The silence stretched between them, his eyes locked on her neck and her thumb against his lips. His breath was warm against it, coming out in short heavy bursts that matched her racing heartbeat. She licked her lips again, couldn’t stop herself from imagining what it would feel like to have his mouth on her throat, his teeth in her flesh. The very thought made her tremble and prickly heat scorched her body.
“Do you… need to… need… blood?” Those words were harder to say than she’d thought they would be. Her fingers shook against his jaw.
Julian’s gaze snapped to hers as though she’d startled him and he stepped backwards, leaving her standing with her hand held in the air. In an instant, his eyes were pale blue again.
“Go inside,” he said, tone commanding and urgent at the same time. His fists shook at his sides.
Lauren edged towards the staircase and then stopped, looking back at him. “Are you coming too?”
He shook his head. The muscle in his jaw twitched as though he was grinding his teeth. Clamping them shut? His body language screamed of restraint. Had her touch triggered this internal war she was witnessing? He seemed to be fighting something.
“Where are you going?”
“To hunt.”
Her heart missed a beat. He was hungry. She hesitated and then moved back towards him, her throat tight again. She didn’t care how he would react. She had to know.
“Can you feed without killing?”
He nodded and then his gaze dropped to her neck again. She touched it. His eyes switched briefly to silver and he backed away another step.
“Go inside.” This time his voice was strained, his eyes showing the struggle that she could now feel in him. They switched again, flashing between silver and blue, darting between her throat and her face. “I cannot be near you. Not when I am hungry. Go… stay with the others.”
“Why?” Lauren ignored him and took a step towards him. He countered it with another step back, keeping the distance between them steady. Sheer agony filled his eyes and his expression changed to one of pleading, as though he was silently begging her to do as he’d asked. She trusted him. He wouldn’t hurt her, not even when he was hungry. She believed that.
His eyes melted back to silver and, when he spoke, she saw his canines had extended again. “They will keep you safe.”
“No,” Lauren said with a frown, unwilling to go until he’d answered her real question. “Why can’t you be near me?”
His eyes went to her neck. He frowned. When he met her eyes, he looked pained.
“It is forbidden.”
Before she could ask why, he leapt over the edge of the building. She gasped and leaned over the railing, only to see him land on his feet in the street far below and then disappear. Her heart started beating again. He could have told her that he could fall that far and not be hurt.
Lauren stared in the direction he’d gone.
More importantly.
She touched her bare neck, his hungry look burned on her memory.
He could have told her why it was forbidden.

Author Spotlight – Sheri Fredricks introduces us to Remedy Maker and shares a hot excerpt
I have a new guest author this week – the wonderful Sheri Fredricks! She’s here to talk about the first book in her new series and share a hot excerpt! I’ll hand things over to her now…
Hi Felicity! Thank you for inviting me to be a guest on your blog today.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sheri Fredricks and I love to create modern mythic romance stories. My sensual books hold the hidden secrets of shape-shifting centaur warriors, wood nymphs who disappear into trees, trolls who dive underground—and more!
I’m currently writing a series called The Centaurs.
Remedy Maker is the first book:
Remedy Maker
Sheri Fredricks
Man by day, Centaur by night, Rhycious is a remedy maker who needs his own healing.
He’s the royal physician, famous for his cures. War and posttraumatic stress disorder has broken his spirit, preventing him from finding true happiness. Then a direct order from the queen to investigate an uprising forces him out of his secluded cabin at the edge of the forest.
Patience is an optimistic, good-natured Wood Nymph who works as a mediator to ensure harmony within the Nymph sector.
Environmental pollution in the aquifer stream that feeds the taproot tree of her heart is slowly killing her. Resigned to the fact she will not live long, she sets out to discover the mysterious disappearance of her sister. Experience has taught her to deny herself the love of a male, but the gruff Centaur is different. He doesn’t push his expectations on her, only his healing nature.
When Rhycious loses his grip on reality, he believes his inability to control his disorder will drive Patience away. Nevertheless, desire flares, and Patience draws him close. Kidnapping and betrayal turn their mythic joint venture into a deadly bout.
Will their love endure when survival hinges on trusting each other?

Excerpt
“Should we practice our joint effort, polytima, and see how good we can be together?”
How much hotter could they possibly get? Much as she hated flames, her body burned hot enough to internally combust.
“Rhycious!” she cried out, going for a scolding tone. But it came across like a sensual invitation.
His arm tightened around her waist, drawing her the wasted millimeter of space nearer. Patience’s mind spun. A man who wanted her was holding her in his arms. She closed her eyes.
His mouth traveled up her throat, licking and sucking, until he settled over her lips once more. Persistent and demanding, his tongue slid along the seam until she complied and opened.
He charged right in like a Centaur warrior would, drawing her tongue into battle with his. Feinting and parrying, they slid sensuously against one another.
“My gods, Patience. You taste so damn good.”
And Rhycious tasted of pure Elysium, sending a tingle of exquisite warmth to a spot deep within her. A breathless tension coiled. “Your coffee tastes better than mine.”
His hand cupping her bottom alternated between kneading the cheek and rubbing sumptuous circles. The clench of desire increased between her thighs. She moaned her approval. His other hand traveled upward from her waist and settled under the heavy fall of hair, massaging the base of her skull.
Rhycious backed her up until her knees hit the couch, and buckled. He followed her down, arranging her body to stretch out beneath him, his hips spreading her thighs wide. Leaning on one elbow, he used his free hand to push the hair off her face. His feral gleam intensified, and his tawny eyes bore into hers.
“Rhycious.” She was drunk with longing and unable to string words together—but she didn’t want to talk anyway.
“Yeah, sweetheart. I’m here.”
Through his shirt, the contractions of his back muscles splayed and moved under her fingers. The scent of clean, warm male filled her senses. His bulge rubbed over her panties, stoking her raging fire, and his massaging hand moved from her neck to cup a breast. He plucked at her nipple with a thumb and forefinger.
Patience whimpered her thirst for him. Goose flesh exploded over her body, and slammed into her pussy, causing it to seep with need. Reaching up, she drew his head lower to kiss his lips and slipped the string of leather out of his hair.
“You feel incredible,” she said. His shoulder length strands slithered through her fingers—smooth and silky. “Your hair is so soft.” He evoked emotions she’d never felt before, and she dared herself to discover more with this man.
Taking possession of his mouth again, she had just found his tongue when she abruptly arched her neck and broke away to gasp. His cock rode her, building the pressure below. “Touch me more,” she said. “I love the way your hands feel on my skin.”
Insistent lips burned a path to her ear. A wet swirl traced the curved shape. He nipped her neck, and then licked the sting, all while pushing against her, simulating the love act.
His hard breath came fast, matching hers in tempo. She spread her thighs wide and raised them higher on his waist, tilting her hips to receive maximum stimulation. Behind the zipper of his jeans, his erection hit her clit and she cried out.
“Gods, I want in you so bad, Patience,” Rhys voice rumbled, adding to her sexual tension.
“I—I don’t know…” She didn’t know how to talk anymore; coherent thought became impossible. Flames burned a path that followed his traveling hand. His fingers were taking a walk, heading south, past her waist and up her splayed leg. A light stroke skimmed over her knee and down the inside of her thigh.
Carried away by the fire coursing through her veins, Patience gyrated her hips toward his seeking fingers, not knowing what she needed, but moaning her frustration at his lack of speed. The tension within her grew. Her hands caressed his back, touching every available inch.
When he finally made contact with her damp panties, Rhy groaned and leaned to the side, making room for his hand. Up and down, he stroked the material over her slit before cupping her tight. Then he slipped his fingers under the elastic edge.
He played so close to her core. Craving blasted her into an orbit around the planet. Curious about foreplay she’d only whispered about with Daisy, she burned for the intimate details now.
Lightly, he skimmed her outer folds.
Patience lifted her eyelids halfway, arousal weighing them down. Stark desire flamed in Rhy’s eyes, his features drawn tight, pained. She could barely breathe.
“I feel so . . . hot inside.” She managed to rasp out.
“Gods, woman. Don’t say shit like that.” No sooner had the threat left his mouth, when his slick fingers breached and entered the slippery realm.

WIP Wednesday – Her Wicked Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 6) with new sneak peek
It has been an eventful two weeks since I wrote my last WIP Wednesday post. Sorry I missed last week. I was deep in edits on Her Wicked Angel and completely forgot what day it was until Friday!
Her Wicked Angel is now edited and resting, awaiting a few rounds of proofreading to finish it off and polish it to perfection. The edit went surprisingly smoothly, and my beta readers were invaluable. I decided to tweak the ending to make it better, and now I’m sure you will love it. Asmodeus is one serious bad boy and Liora is pretty kick-ass.
Not only did I get the edit of the book finished, but I’ve also designed the cover and have written the rough blurb for the book. I can’t reveal the complete cover until August 26th, when there will be a huge reveal across a lot of blogs, including my own. The picture above is a snippet from the cover though (tweaked and with added text), so you can really get a feel for how awesome it is. I think it’s better than the Her Demonic Angel cover and I’m expecting a few rounds of “holy hotness!” when it is finally revealed on August 26th.
The book is now on my Kindle, waiting for me to read it when I’m away next week, soaking up some sun and culture in Dubrovnik. I’m sure that the old town part of that city will become the setting for something in a future novel. I’m expecting to be really inspired by it as it’s beautiful.
I’m not sure what’s next on my agenda. Probably proofreading Eternal Mates book one, getting the cover done for it and getting the blurb written. Then I’ll be working on the next Eternal Mates book (CANNOT WAIT!) and after that the first Guardians of Hades novel.
Remember, the official release date for HER WICKED ANGEL is September 21st.
Not long now, really. It’s already August and September will be here before you know it.
To tide you over, how about a new snippet of the book?
“Do you not like the stars?” Liora whispered, her gaze returning to him.
Asmodeus paused at his work and looked over his wing to her. He did like the stars and he liked her too, and he thought she was infinitely more beautiful than they were. What would she say if he told her that?
He shoved that thought away and nodded. “I do, but my feathers are misaligned. They irritate me.”
“Can you put your wings away?” Her hazel eyes lowered to his wing and, before he could answer that he could if he desired it, she had reached over, laid her palm on the curve of his wing, and was running her hand down it.
Holy Hell, that felt good.
A shiver bolted through him, hot and fierce, reigniting his blood and making it burn for more. He wanted her to stroke his wing again, to caress it and tease him, driving him wild with need for her.
His fangs lengthened and he sensed the moment his irises brightened and began to verge on crimson. Her eyes widened and her fingers paused against his feathers.
She sounded breathless when she uttered, “You like me touching them?”
Asmodeus told himself not to nod and not to let on that her touching his wings had him hurtling towards the edge of bliss and had him rock hard in his loincloth.
He tried.
Failed.
He nodded and swallowed hard when she resumed her stroking, sending hot little shivers tripping over his flesh, stoking his hunger up degree after degree until he couldn’t take any more.
His red eyes narrowed on her lips.
He wanted to taste them again. He wanted to shove his fingers into her fall of soft chestnut hair, grasp the back of her head and yank it back so he could devour her mouth and master her.
He would do just that.
Asmodeus reached for her.
What do you think?

Teaseday – Excerpt from Love Immortal, a paranormal romance novel
Today’s tease comes from the book Love Immortal, which is a stand alone vampire / paranormal romance novel packed with action, suspense, emotion and drama. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…
Julian closed his eyes. The minutes passed slowly, the sands of time trickling down to gradually form an hour and then two. He lost track of time as he waited, monitoring Lauren with his senses, searching for a minute sign that she was awakening. The sun drifted overhead and then sank towards the horizon. Each heartbeat was loud in his chest. Every breath was drawn for her sake.
Just as he grew tired, something sparked in Lauren.
Julian pushed himself up and moved her so she was sitting leaned against the pillows of the bed. He knelt beside her, watching, waiting for her to give a stronger sign.
Her heart faltered and then began to beat. She gasped and shot forwards. Julian grabbed her as she thrashed around and whispered soothing words to her, reiterating his promise a thousand times over. She calmed down when he managed to move closer to her and her hands went to his black shirt, gathering fistfuls of it and pulling hard.
His heart leapt when she turned towards him and curled up. Her lips parted to reveal little white fangs. The sight of them warmed him and an intense sense of connection to her broke over him. He’d never experienced such a strong reaction to her before but he liked it—he liked how close he felt to her.
He moved her in his arms, keeping her close but needing her to be able to reach his wrist. Her side pressed against his, her knees drawn to her chest. She clung to him and he held her tighter. A smile curved his lips when she mumbled something and then fell asleep again.
He couldn’t let her sleep, no matter how much she wanted to. Time was a critical factor right now. She needed blood to give her the strength to continue with the change and to bring her mind back.
“Lauren,” he whispered and jostled her.
Her nose wrinkled and she moaned. She tried to burrow her face into his chest but he stopped her by taking hold of her cheek and drawing her away. He unbuttoned his shirtsleeve and offered his wrist. She rolled her eyes open a fraction, looked at it, and then hid her face against his chest.
He needed her to feed as soon as possible but he couldn’t help savouring the feel of her against him and the fact that she was seeking comfort from him. He rubbed her back, continuing to whisper to her, and then tried again with his wrist.
He could sense her hunger. Why wouldn’t she bite him?
He bit his wrist and offered it again. She sniffed and poked her head out a little. Julian supported her back and moved his wrist towards her, encouraging her to drink. She was still wary. He was used to this sort of behaviour from her when she first woke. Her movements were weak and instinctual, but she would soon regain her strength if he could make her drink. The blood ran down his bare arm. Her eyes were unfocused at first but they tracked the rivulet and then her pupils narrowed.
Her mouth opened. The sight of her small canines sent a jolt through him, as strong as the one he’d felt in the alley when her eyes had first met his. He watched with bated breath, waiting to see if she would drink now. Her eyes melted into silver. Tentatively, she leaned forwards and he brought his arm to her. The tip of her tongue poked out and she licked the trail of blood off his arm. A moment of hesitation and then she wrapped her mouth around the wound on his wrist and began drinking.
She drank deep, filling the room with hungry noises. Her hands came up and she grasped his arm, pulling hard on his blood. There was something deeply sensual about her suckling and the brush of her lips against his flesh. It filled him with hunger, passion. Affected him so much that his own teeth elongated against his will, drawn out of him by the sight and feel of her.
Her quiet mewls of supplication made his body harden. It called out for her touch. None of her predecessors had ever affected him like this, making him burn and hunger, dizzy with lust and need.
Julian wanted her to drink forever—to take all of him into her body so they could be one at last, him and Lauren. He ached to be inside her. The force of emotion she stirred in him was consuming, driving him out of his mind with a need to act.
Lauren deepened her feeding but he didn’t care. It didn’t matter if she weakened him dramatically. He would give her whatever she needed, would do whatever it took to help her awaken, even if she drained him near to death. He lived for her. Not just because it was his duty, at least not this time. Lauren was different. He believed in the feelings her eyes held for him. He believed in the feelings that she’d awoken in him.
Her teeth scraped his wrist but she didn’t bite down. Instead, she lapped the wound, stroking his skin in a way that fanned the fire in his veins.
Julian tilted his head, closed his eyes and focused on her lips against his skin and her firm grip. His teeth sunk into his lower lip. Intense heat spread through him, radiating from the point where her mouth was against him. It had never been like this before. Never. It felt so good—so right—and he couldn’t ignore the need pounding through his body.
He dipped his head towards her. Just as his forehead was close to touching her hair, she stopped feeding, pulled back and looked at him.
Did you enjoy today’s tease?
Caris Roane is also posting a Teaseday snippet, so be sure to check out her blog and read it!

Sensual Sunday – Scorching Hot Snippet from In Heat: Mating Call, a black panther shapeshifter romance novel
Sensual Sunday is brought to you today by In Heat: Mating Call, which is the second book in my popular In Heat romance series. Sensual Sunday’s always feature a hot excerpt from one of my paranormal romance books. Read on for this Sunday’s sensual snippet… it’s a super super scorching hot one today so have your ice cold drinks and fans at the ready!
Erik closed his eyes and let out a long sigh as soft lips teased the bare flesh of his torso. It was torture, but a pleasant kind. He tensed for her, eliciting a moan as his muscles bunched, revealing his strength. She gave a little faux-purr and licked along the valley between his abdominals, crawling her way up him. This time it was him purring, deep and low, contented to the core.
She was better than sunshine.
He could bask in the heat of her glances, in the warmth of her love, and he would feel happier than he ever did in the sunlight.
Fingertips grazed the sensitive flesh above his hip but he resisted giving her what she wanted. He wouldn’t laugh, not right now, not when she was fanning flames inside him that were threatening to turn into wildfire. He breathed in deep when her nails lightly scraped across his stomach and over his chest, catching a nipple in the process and sending a shiver through him. His fingers curled, creating tight fists as he fought for restraint.
She breathed softly against him and the wet skin where she’d kissed turned to goose bumps. His purr rumbled through his chest. She giggled. He lost the ability to breathe when she straddled him, her camisole clad breasts brushing against his stomach. His cock twitched with hunger as he thought about being inside her, encased in her warm wetness. She lowered herself and ground against him, tearing a moan from his throat as her slick arousal soaked through her knickers and onto his length.
God, he wanted her. He always wanted her.
In the two years since he’d met her, his desire for her had only increased. He opened his eyes and watched her kissing his stomach, exploring and mapping his flesh as though this was their first time and she wanted to put every inch of him to memory. She was beautiful, even if she didn’t see it herself. Twenty seven years of searching had been worth it to have her here with him like this, his and his alone.
She licked up his chest, pressing the odd kiss to it. He smiled and avoided her kiss when she reached his lips. Gently lowering the strap of her camisole, he pressed kisses to her shoulder and upper arm as he pushed it down. She moaned into his ear, her soft breath tickling his neck.
Closing his eyes, he kissed down her arm, following the camisole strap and savouring the taste of her. She shifted against him, her bare legs pressing into his, velvety soft and warm. He wrapped one arm around her, cupped her backside and pulled her up so he could reach her breasts. His fingers tugged at the camisole, freeing her right breast, and he immediately wrapped his lips around the aroused nipple.
He moaned low in his throat as he suckled it and her fingers threaded into his hair, holding him against her and trapping him as she groaned. He held her tighter, showing her that he’d never let her go. She was his everything, his reason for living. She was his mate.
He purred, low and deep until his whole body vibrated with it. Her light giggle made him smile against her breast, and he redoubled his ministrations.
Rolling her onto her back, he kissed up to her neck as his right hand drew the other strap of her camisole down her arm. He pulled back, watching the progress of it and the achingly slow way her other breast was revealed to him. His breath caught in his throat as the lacy trim of her camisole scraped over her nipple and then slipped away, exposing it fully. His cock jumped and ached, begging him to get inside her, to get as close as he could and sate his desire for her.
She stretched her arms up above her. The camisole bunched at her waist and her dishevelled hair and slight smile gave her a beautifully wanton air. He narrowed his eyes as he raked them over her. Her hands followed his glance, touching wherever he looked, teasing him with the thought of his hands doing that. He moved them away from her body and replaced them with his own. He palmed her breasts, thumbing her nipples until they were hard peaks again, and then ran his hands down her stomach, applying enough pressure to make her moan. He knew that she loved to feel how strong he was, how rough he could be if she let him. It always made her desire soar.
He sniffed and grinned at the scent of her need in the air.
Curling his fingers around her camisole where it was now bunched near her waist, he tugged it down, forcing it over her hips. He lifted her feet, resting them against his chest, and pulled the camisole off over them.
He looked her over, watching her toy with her nipples. His stomach tightened when she gave him a coy look and nudged his shoulders with her toes, spurring him into action. He leaned forwards, skimmed his hands up her legs, and hooked his fingers into the waist of her red lacy shorts. Drawing them towards him, he groaned as the short dark curly hair of her pussy was exposed and licked his lips. He wanted to taste her. The smell of her was driving him crazy with need.
Tossing her knickers to one side, he gave her a sly smile. He took hold of her ankles and parted her legs, spreading them enough that his eyes could drink their fill of her pussy as it glistened with her arousal. He breathed deep, using the scent of her to arouse him further until he was desperate to taste her and be inside of her.
He kept her legs spread as he moved forwards, pressing kisses over her knees and along the inside of her thighs. His gaze remained locked with hers the whole time and he smiled when she closed her eyes and bit her lip, her hands resting lightly over her breasts.
He knew what she wanted. He always knew what she wanted. These past two years together had given them a chance to get to know each other inside and out. Just as he could predict her every need and desire, she could predict his.
Pressing one last kiss to her inner thigh, his eyes finally left her face and dropped to her pussy. He moaned and lowered his head, settling between her legs as his fingers gently pulled her nether lips apart to fully expose her clit.
It was pert and slick, hungry for his attention. He wasn’t going to deny it.
He flicked it with his tongue.
She moaned and bucked her hips up. He loved the sound of her moaning.
Closing his eyes, he laved her clit, lapping up her sweet juices and savouring the taste of her. He spread her lips further, wanting to taste more of her, needing to lick every inch of her until she was moaning his name and quivering at the lightest touch.
She groaned again, her whole body tensing this time, and he smiled when one hand came to rest against the top of his head. She didn’t need to give him that silent command not to stop. He’d never stop, not if she let him.
Sucking her clit into his mouth, he flicked it with his tongue as he suckled it, arousing it further until it was a hard nub. He slipped one hand down, dipping his fingers in and running them slowly down towards her slick opening.
“Yes,” she breathed, her fingers grasping his hair, tugging at it.
He marvelled at her arousal, how wet she was and ready for him to plunge his cock to the hilt inside of her. He plunged two fingers inside instead and groaned into her pussy as she tensed around him. God, he wanted her.
He’d always wanted her.
And now she was his.

Snippet Saturday – It Ain’t Over ‘Til it’s Over – Excerpt from Unleash (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series Book 6)
It’s time for Snippet Saturday! Each week has a theme or is author’s choice. This week the theme is It Ain’t Over ‘Til it’s Over – Refusing to give up.
This week my snippet comes from Unleash (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series #6). It’s a bit of a long one. It was hard to find a good spot to stop.
The light began to fade, the clouds darkening, and the scent of rain drifted on the breeze. The weather was about to turn abysmal.
He hadn’t missed that.
“Aurora,” he started and then wasn’t sure what to say. He had to do something to make her stay. The thought of her leaving hurt him, making his chest ache, and he would rather lay his heart on the line than let her go without a fight. “Do not leave me… I know I do not deserve you… and you probably think me a wretched monster that deserves only death.”
She tensed at that, her shoulders going rigid, but said nothing.
“Please, Aurora.” When was the last time he had pleaded with a woman? Probably around the time he had decided to give up desiring females too. Aurora had changed all that.
He thought of her constantly, never able to get her out of his head, even in sleep. His dreams always went back to the night she had saved him, and then forwards to her arrival at Vampirerotique. He couldn’t think straight around her and couldn’t picture his life without her in it now.
His hands shook so he curled them into fists, clenching them. He had never felt weak and vulnerable like this, uncertain, not in all his centuries of life, not even when faced with his bloodlust or chained to his bed.
“Do not leave, Aurora. Come back to my room… stay with me… and I will find a way to show you that I am… I do not know what I am… but I know I don’t want you to leave.”
“I am in trouble with my master again,” she whispered in a low voice laced with hurt and a touch of fear.
“Because of me?” His shoulders sagged and his hands fell open, his hope draining away.
She nodded and her eyes filled with sorrow. “Because of you.”
He knew what she wouldn’t say. Her master, the man who had broken almost every bone in his body the night he had first met Aurora, despised him and thought him unworthy of her.
Snow looked at her, forcing himself to recognise that she was an angel, and he was a devil.
Her whole life had been ruined because she had chosen to save him.
“You should have let me die,” he muttered and wished she would leave now. He wanted this over with already. She was going to leave him in the end, driven away by the darkness within him, and he would taint her if he touched her. It was pointless.
Aurora’s eyes blazed. “You were an innocent! You didn’t deserve to die like that.”
She still believed that?
Snow heaved a sigh. “If I had died, my parents would be alive… Antoine wouldn’t bear physical and emotional scars that haunt him, and countless other souls would not have suffered at my hands or my fangs.”
She moved a step closer, her anger washing over him, far more intense than he had anticipated. Her beautiful eyes were dark with it, her lips compressing into a mulish line. She squared her shoulders and narrowed her gaze.
“And what of you?” she snapped. “Have you not suffered because of my actions? I saved you that night and set in motion a series of terrible events. I condemned you to a life of pain and misery… you have suffered endless agony because of me. By your reasoning, I should die for the things I have done.”
Snow stepped back, unable to stop himself as the force of her words struck him like physical blows.
“You never deserved to suffer because you took pity on a child.” He kept his voice soft, hoping to calm her. “It was an angelic thing to do.”
She glared at him. “Even if my master had wanted me to watch you die that night?”
He had? Snow didn’t like that. The bastard had tried to make her watch a little boy die. Why?
Before he could say anything, she continued. “He desired to test me. I failed. I couldn’t stand by and watch as an innocent boy, a child like me, drowned in an icy lake. I saw only a child without a blemish on his soul.”
“You couldn’t have known what you would unleash on the world,” Snow countered, wanting to alleviate the guilt he could feel in her. He drew in another deep breath to steady himself and the scent of rain grew stronger. In the distance, thunder growled through the clouds.
“No. I didn’t. I saved you and then you asked me to stay with you, and I foolishly wanted that so much because I knew my master would punish me for what I had done… and this time it would be more severe than any I had endured before.” Tears lined her eyes and she dashed them away, her actions speaking of irritation that he sensed in her. She hated revealing any sign of weakness to him. She wanted him to see her as strong.
It was there in the upward tilt of her chin and her battle to hide her emotions. All he could see was a woman who was breaking inside, the weight of all his sins crushing her soul to ashes.
A female torn between duty and desire.
“I accepted my punishment… and I dared to hope you would remember what had happened and what my master had said… and you would remember me.”
“I am sorry, Aurora.” Snow stepped towards her and the first drops of rain fell, dark spots on the black tar roof. Aurora stared at him, fighting to hold back her tears, and he ached to comfort her.
She wrapped her arms around herself and turned her face away from him.
“I should not have forgotten you…” He curled his fingers into fists to stop himself from reaching out, smoothing his palm across her cheek, and lifting her head so she was looking at him again. She would bolt if he touched her. Tainted her. “I had truly wanted you to live with me too, away from the mean angels who had upset you. You are here now. You do not have to leave. You could stay with me.”
He didn’t dare hope that she would.
God knew he deserved to have her throw everything in his face, his feelings included, and leave him forever.
She shook her head.
His heart broke. He actually felt the snap and the rip.
“I cannot.” She lowered her head further, causing her long black hair to cover her face.
“Why not?” Snow couldn’t hold the growl of frustration and hurt from his voice when his feelings were colliding within him, despair battling hope, cowardice fighting courage.
He frowned and ground his molars, unsure what to do. His head said to give up and let her go. His heart said to reach out and grab hold of her, and never let her leave him. She couldn’t leave him. They were meant for each other. He was sure of it.
“We do not belong together,” she whispered and he shut out the words of the song she had sung to him, the tale of two who didn’t belong together, two he was coming to see as he and Aurora, even when he wanted to go against the odds and win her heart forever. “My master is right.”
Something in Snow snapped on hearing those words leave her lips. “Screw your master and what he thinks is right. What do you think is right? What feels right to you?”
Aurora glanced at him. “I do not know.”
Snow pieced his shattered heart back together, mentally picked himself up off the deck, and took another step towards her, determined not to back down until she had given in to him.
“I know that you fear what is happening between us, Aurora… the Devil knows I do too… and that it is all new to you and may feel wrong, but if you would only give me a chance… I can show you how right we are for each other and that your passion is something to embrace, not deny.” He halted in front of her, his entire body shaking and his knees weak, and stared down into her beautiful eyes, catching the spark of warmth that now lit them. A spark that ignited hope within his aching heart.
Snow breathed hard, struggling with himself and the words, trying to get them all to come out right in spite of his nerves. He longed to touch her but he couldn’t. He feared he would taint her. God, he wanted to taint her. He had never wanted anything so fiercely.
She looked as though she was going to say something stupid about her master.
Snow’s hands trembled, nerves threatening to get the better of him. He wouldn’t let her leave him. He lifted his hand, gently slid it along the length of her jaw, and raised her face to his. His gaze fell to her lips.
He pressed his thumb to her jaw, captured her nape with his fingers, and tilted her head, slanting his at the same time.
“I will ruin you.”
He leaned in and placed his mouth on hers, cutting off her protest with a kiss. The heat and taste of her struck him hard, and the softness of her lips against his rocked him to his soul.
Snow closed his eyes and gathered her against him with his free arm. The feel of her supple body pressing into his sent him out of his head and it was hard to keep the kiss chaste, giving her time to adjust to it.
His whole body cried out to take things further and kiss her deeper, sliding his tongue between the seam of her lips, ruining her completely.
He gently swept his lips across hers, the feel of her shaking in his arms keeping him grounded, awing him as she mimicked his actions, her soft mouth working against his. Her breath stuttered, moist and sweet on his face, and her palms settled on his bare chest. His heart beat hard against it, hurting his ribs as it attempted to break free of the cage of his body and get to her.
It belonged to her now, no matter what happened between them. In return, he wanted her to belong to him. It was only fair.

More about the book:
Unleash
Felicity Heaton
A powerful vampire lost deep in his bloodlust, Snow is a savage animal, mindless with rage and a thirst for violence, and trapped with no hope of awakening from an endless nightmare… until a song draws him up from the abyss, restoring his sanity but leaving him haunted by the sweet feminine scent of lilies and snow, and fragmented familiar lyrics.
When the mysterious and beautiful songstress reappears in Snow’s room at Vampirerotique, she awakens a fierce protective streak and stirs dark desires that drive him to claim her as his female, even when he knows his touch will destroy her innocence.
A single forbidden taste is all it takes to unleash emotions in Aurora that she shouldn’t possess, tearing her between duty and desire, and luring her into surrendering to her wildfire passion and embracing hungers that burn so hotly they threaten to consume them both.
One act of kindness can lead to one thousand acts of sin though, each a black mark against the bearer’s soul and another grain of sand that slips through an hourglass. The clock is ticking and time is almost up. Can beauty save the beast?
