It felt far too much like a date as he sat beside her on the couch. He wasn’t sure what a date felt like, but in all the movies he had watched on Earth and couples he had observed during his time in Heaven, this sort of thing was frequently classified as one. Dinner. Movie. Wine. Man and a woman. Date.
Marcus finished off the remains of his food and leaned back into the corner of the couch, bringing his wine with him. He crossed his legs and stretched his right arm out along the back of the sofa, settling his hand close to Amelia, and rested the bottom of his glass on his knee. He paid little attention to the movie playing on the large flat screen television. Amelia held it too firmly, keeping his eyes locked on her face as she laughed, oblivious to his watching her. She was beautiful, and it wasn’t the wine talking.
A pure soul, full of kindness and warmth. Her internal beauty shone through, enhancing her external looks and leading him to wonder how such a pretty woman could fall for such disgusting men. She couldn’t see the damage to their souls, so it was understandable that she would occasionally fall for males who were beneath her, but to always find the bad seed amongst the many decent men in the world? He had at least expected her to get rid of them the moment she realised they were no good for her, but she persevered, attempting to change their ways, as though she hoped that she could make them into a good man if she tried hard enough.
Impossible.
Men were resistant to change.
As were angels.
Amelia looked at him over her shoulder, her laughter dying away when she caught his gaze and her expression turning serious.
“Do I have something on my face?” she said with a hint of a smile and a blush.
Marcus wanted to say that she did and use the excuse to reach across and sweep the backs of his fingers across her cheek. He wanted to see if his touch could affect her with the same intensity that hers affected him. He shook his head instead, expecting her to go back to watching the movie. She didn’t.
She turned and leaned over him, kneeling on the couch seat, and pressed her hand against his chest.
Marcus stared at her mouth, everything good in him screaming to break away and stop her. He didn’t. He stayed stock still and let it happen.
His first kiss in this lifetime was a tentative sweep of soft lips over his followed by the press of her body into his. The feel of her against him sent a flood of feelings surging through him, setting his blood aflame with desire and the need to clutch her to him and possess her. It overwhelmed him and his restraint, crushing the good part that was still struggling to resist, and while he stopped himself from sliding his arm around her back and pulling the full length of her body flush against his, he couldn’t stop himself from kissing her.
She moaned softly when he responded, grazing his lips against hers in a gentle caress that fanned the flames within him until he burned for her and for more. Her tongue brushed along the seam of his mouth and he brought his to meet it, tangling softly and luring it into his mouth where they danced. He couldn’t remember kissing in his past lifetime but he certainly would have if it had felt like this. Warmth suffused him right down to his bones and every breathy little moan he elicited from Amelia turned the heat up another notch, until he was close to grabbing the nape of her neck and holding her mouth against his.
He breathed hard when she broke away to kneel on the sofa in front of him, her grey eyes wide and hand coming up to cover her mouth. She touched her lips, drawing his hungry gaze there, and he was ravenous all over again, starving for the sweet taste of her on his tongue.
“Shit… I’m sorry,” she said, instantly deflating his desire, and scrambled from the couch.
She was leaving?
Not good.
Marcus was off the sofa and had his hand locked around her wrist before she could reach the door.
“Wait,” he said and wasn’t sure what to do when she looked back at him so he pulled her into his arms and kissed her again.
And damn she tasted just as good as she had the first time.
And damn he needed more.
She moaned when he backed her into the wall beside the door, pressing the hard length of his body against hers, and grabbed his shoulders. For a moment, he thought she would push him away, and then she dragged him closer still and wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her fingers into his hair.
Part of him was vaguely aware that alcohol was responsible for his current situation and that he was going to regret it come the morning but the rest of him didn’t care. He had wanted to release his inhibitions and he had. He just hadn’t expected that this would be the result, and right now he didn’t care that he was on the verge of doing exactly as his superior had ordered.
All he cared about was satisfying his hunger to taste Amelia.
The part of him that was chanting about deception wouldn’t shut up and the more he listened to it, the more he felt like a demon.
Marcus stepped back, leaving Amelia sagged against the wall, panting so hard that her breasts rose and fell with each breath, presenting him with a glorious view that had him reconsidering what he was about to say.
She slowly opened her grey eyes and smiled shyly before raking her gaze over him. It lingered on his groin and her eyes widened, pupils dilating until her irises turned dark with desire. There was a wicked edge to her eyes when they met his again and she inclined her head, her pouty come hither look almost luring him in. Desire wasn’t the only thing written plainly across her face. There was expectation there too, and that alone pushed him into saying what he needed to.
“I think this is a bad idea.”
Her sultry temptress look immediately dissipated, leaving the Amelia he was familiar with standing before him.
“You really don’t like me,” she whispered and the hurt in her heart beat within his.
He wasn’t saying anything of the sort. But what could he tell her? He was halfway to drunk and not only did he need to get his head on straight so he was certain that he wasn’t doing this because he was subconsciously following orders but he was hardly going to produce the stellar performance she expected of him.
He had been celibate this entire lifetime.
And he was damned if his first time was going to be under orders.
If something was going to happen between them, it was going to happen naturally. He wasn’t going to seduce her and use her feelings against her.
“I do… but… I think the wine has gone to my head and I think it might have gone to yours too.”
“And that’s a bad thing?” She glanced at the empty bottle and his half-full glass on the table.
“It is.” Marcus ventured a step towards her and brushed the backs of his fingers against her cheek, sweeping her straight dark hair from her face. Her skin was as smooth as he had imagined it would be and the way she closed her eyes, slowly inhaling at the same time, empowered him. He opened his hand and cupped her face, resting his fingers along her jaw and bringing his thumb close to her mouth. Such soft lips. He wanted to dip his head and kiss her again but he wasn’t sure he would be able to stop at just kissing if he did. “It is all a little quick and I don’t want you waking tomorrow feeling like crap because of what we did tonight.”
“I doubt I would feel crappy.” There it was again. Blatant expectation. Why? Because he was handsome to her? That instantly made him Casanova?
No pressure then.
“Amelia… how about we take it slow and steady?”
Her eyes lit up and he realised there could be another meaning in his words but he didn’t bother to correct her because he wasn’t about to let things get that far. His final task was coming. Everything that had happened tonight would satisfy his superior and his orders to gain her trust. He would date her a few times, keeping a suitable distance, and once his mission was over he would leave.
She nodded, tiptoed and kissed him.
Resisting was impossible.

Snippet Saturday – Even The Nights Are Better – Her Guardian Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 4)
It’s time for Snippet Saturday! Each week has a theme or is author’s choice. This week the theme is Even The Nights Are Better.
This week my snippet comes from the fourth book in my Her Angel romance series, Her Guardian Angel
This book is on offer at selected Amazon Kindle, Kobo Books and Apple iBooks store for just $0.99 / £0.99 / EUR 0,99 between today and September 27th, so grab your copy while you can. All the links are below, or at my website: Her Guardian Angel
Amelia took hold of his wrist and tried to tug him into deeper water. He stood firm and she frowned.
“You can’t swim, can you?”
“I don’t know. I have never tried.” He might be able to swim. Angels sometimes remembered how to do things that they had experienced in a previous lifetime. If he had known how to swim then, he could instinctively remember it now, but he wasn’t willing to risk drowning in order to find out.
It didn’t seem to bother Amelia. She splashed his bare chest and face, and he responded by sweeping his arm across the warm water, sending a wave rushing towards her. She ducked under the surface and the water settled around him, lapping at his waist. He turned on the spot, searching for Amelia. When she didn’t surface after a few seconds, his pulse picked up and he waded further out, fearing that something had happened.
Something brushed his backside and he turned sharply, causing ripples to spread outwards from his chest. His senses blared in warning but he wasn’t quick enough. Amelia launched out of the water, looped her arms around his neck and her legs around his hips. Her playful attack caused his heels to dig into the soft wet sand under his feet and he fell backwards, sending them both underwater.
It went straight into his mouth and stung his eyes.
He broke the surface a split-second later, coughing the vile water up, and Amelia re-emerged, her sheepish smile visible in the strong moonlight.
She swam towards him and then around him, and his anger faded away when she came to stand behind him and stroked his back.
“They’re beautiful. Are they really a curse?” she whispered, her warm fingertips tracing the wings marked on his shoulder blades.
Marcus stilled, his focus so intently fixed on her that every light touch stirred his insides, fanning his desire for her. Her breath washed over his wet skin, teasing it and he closed his eyes, wanting to absorb how he felt when she was so close to him. Warm. Hungry. Mad for her.
“Apparently so,” he said and she came around him. He caught her bare waist and drew her flush against him. She surprised him by taking hold of his shoulders, lifting herself up and wrapping her legs around his waist. He groaned and clutched her backside to support her, and then remembered the flimsy thing she was wearing on her lower half. He pressed his fingers into her bare bottom and groaned again, his body stirring and aching as he familiarised himself with her soft flesh.
“How did you get them?” Amelia leaned in and peppered his shoulder with kisses, gradually working her way along towards his collarbone and then his neck. He couldn’t think straight to answer her when she was touching him like this. It seemed like torture to have to think at all. She placed a single wet kiss on his jaw and then leaned back and rested her hands on his chest. Her pupils were wide in the low light, darkening her eyes, and he stared into them. “Well?”
She really expected him to answer.
“I got drunk and when I came around, I was sleeping face down and couldn’t call my wings. Heaven called me back to them and I discovered that someone had drawn this curse on me whilst I was unconscious.”
Her hands ran up his chest to his shoulders and then she leaned towards him and caressed his shoulder blades, her breasts pressing against him.
“That’s terrible.”
He murmured his agreement and stared at her mouth.
“It explains why you didn’t want to drink the wine. And you’re really an angel?” Her eyes searched his.
Marcus nodded.
She glanced away and a sense of sorrow flowed through him. He frowned and ducked to one side, trying to see her face so he could understand the sudden change in her emotions. Her gaze met his and the edge of hurt in it compelled him to comfort her even though he wasn’t sure what was wrong.
“What is it?” he whispered, his brow furrowing as he waited for her to speak.
“Einar said that you aren’t omniscient… or some fancy word… that you couldn’t have stopped my mother from dying… I wished that you could have.”
He did too. Watching her grieve had been one of the most difficult trials he had ever endured.
“I wish I could have been there for you.” He let the confession slip out quietly, unsure of whether it would only hurt her further to know that he had seen her suffering and had done nothing about it.
Amelia rested her head on his shoulder and sighed, her breath skittering over his collarbones. Marcus closed his eyes, leaned his cheek against her forehead, and held her close to him, comforting her in the way he had wanted to then. Waves lapped against them, rocking them back and forth. It had been a long time since he had felt such peace.
“I could sleep here, like this. It’s so hard to sleep these days.” Her words were a bare whisper and she sagged against him.
He remembered the couch in her apartment and the blanket. “You haven’t been sleeping well?”
She shook her head. “Not since that break in.”
Marcus frowned. He hadn’t thought to piece the two together. Her mother had died during a break in and one had occurred in the apartment building they shared. It had frightened her and he hadn’t noticed it. That was why her ex had shaken her up by trying to bang her door down. She had feared him breaking in and hurting her.
He wrapped his arms tighter around her and pressed her close to him, enveloping her slender form in his protective embrace. Desire to call his wings out and wrap those around her too, to cocoon her completely, ran deep in his veins but he held them at bay.
“I will never let anything happen to you, Amelia. I promised you that and I mean to keep my word.” The hardness in his voice surprised him as much as the intensity of the emotions that beat in his heart at the thought of her coming under attack and being afraid.
He pressed a kiss to her forehead, rested his lips there for a few heartbeats of time, and then drew back. Amelia emerged from his embrace, her eyes sparkling with tears. He kissed away the ones that had fallen onto her cheeks. She raised her head into his kisses, until their lips were a hair’s breadth apart.
“You really are an angel.” Her lips brushed his as she spoke, stirring his passion.
When she went to speak again, he swooped on her lips, silencing her. Her words became a quiet moan that sent a shiver through him and he held her closer, one hand supporting her backside and the other splayed between her shoulder blades.
He didn’t want to talk anymore.
He wanted to show her without words how she made him feel, how much he craved her taste and her touch, and that he needed her. He hadn’t promised to keep her safe and protect her because he was an angel. He had made that vow because he was a man, and he cared about her.
Marcus ran his tongue along the seam of her mouth and she opened to him, her tongue coming out to play with his and tease it inside. He slanted his head and claimed her mouth, plundering it with his tongue and drawing another heated groan from her. She shifted against him, pressing closer until her warm body was flush against his, driving him mad with the need to caress every inch of her, to taste her and seek out her sensitive spots with his lips. The water lapped at his waist, knocking against him, and he turned with her and carried her back to the beach.
The moment he was clear of the water, he laid her down on the hard sand and covered her body with his. The heat of her overwhelmed him, pushing his desire to new heights, and he moaned into her mouth as she scored her nails over his scalp and then tangled her fingers in his hair, anchoring him to her. He wasn’t going anywhere.
She tore a groan from his throat when she raised her hips into his, rubbing her warm flesh against his hard length, and he ground against her, desperate for more. Nerves surfaced, whispered doubts at the back of his mind, and he pushed them away. He would let things progress naturally. He would make love to her and bring her pleasure.
He kissed a path along her jaw, so hungry to taste her that he nipped occasionally with his blunt teeth. Each playful bite drew a deep moan from Amelia that set his blood burning hotter and hotter, until he couldn’t stop himself from biting her shoulder, sinking his teeth into her soft pale skin, ravenous for her. She groaned and giggled, and he released her, panting hard when she raked her short nails down his back. The blaze that followed their trail made him shudder and moan, bucking his hips against hers. Devil.
Her legs tangled with his, her feet sliding up his calves, driving awareness of their position through him. His hips nestled between her thighs, her body burning against his where they met and pressed together. Or was that his body on fire? He thrust forwards, rubbing his aching length, desperate to feel her beneath him. It felt so damn good, she felt so damn good, and he couldn’t get enough of her. He wanted to devour her, to slow down and lick and caress every inch of her but needed to feel her, to bury himself in her heat and be one with her before he exploded from the sensations overloading his mind and his body. The conflicting feelings collided inside him, driving him out of his head until he was alternating between kisses and nips on her arms and shoulders, between stealing her breath from her lips with his own and caressing her body. He wanted to touch her everywhere at once, and have her touch him.
Needed to feel her hands on his flesh.
Water lapped at his feet and then swept over him to his knees. The distraction was enough that Amelia caught him off guard when she grabbed his shoulders and rolled with him, flipping him onto his back and knocking the wind from him. He stared up at her, transfixed as she straddled his hips, the warm apex of her thighs pressed against the full length of his cock. He groaned and rolled his eyes closed when she leaned forwards, lightly running her hands over his stomach and up to his chest in swirling patterns that pushed him closer to the edge.
His fingers shook as he placed his hands on her thighs and ran them upwards towards her hips. Amelia moaned and he wanted to see her again and see the pleasure he brought her. She smiled down at him, her hair tangled and wet, sand sticking to her shoulders and arms, and then looked at her breasts, drawing his gaze there.
Marcus’s lips parted as she took hold of his hands and leaned towards him. He went along with her as she brought his hands around behind her to the bow tying her bikini top in place and tugged at the ends of the black string. The two black triangles covering her breasts fell forwards and he stared at them, wishing they were out of the way and no longer obscuring his view. Amelia untied the strap around her neck and his breath shortened as the wet bikini top fell onto his stomach.
Hell.
He was aware that he didn’t look particularly manly as he stared at her full breasts and their dusky pink peaks but he didn’t care. It wasn’t the first time he had seen a female nude, but it was Amelia. The sight of her like this, so open and vulnerable, bared for him, made his cock throb and his body tighten with the urge to be inside her.
She caught hold of his hands and brought them to her breasts as she sat back on his groin again, torturing him with her warmth. Marcus thumbed her puckered nipples, teasing them into harder peaks, and watched the myriad of feelings flicker across her face, small ripples of pleasure that brought him warmth and increased his hunger. Her pleasure was his as he studied her face and her reactions to everything that he did. She moaned and leaned back, forcing her breasts into his hands, and he squeezed them, causing her to bite her lip and utter his name in a low sexy voice.
He raised his hips into hers, grinding his hard length into her soft mound, and she tilted her head back, moaning her pleasure at the starlit heavens.
He needed more.

Author Spotlight – Sheri Fredricks introduces us to Troll-y Yours and shares a hot excerpt
I have a new guest author this week – the wonderful Sheri Fredricks! She’s here to talk about the second book in her series and share a hot excerpt! I’ll hand things over to her now…
Hi Felicity! Thank you for inviting me to be a guest on your blog today.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sheri Fredricks and I love to create modern mythic romance stories. My sensual books hold the hidden secrets of shape-shifting centaur warriors, wood nymphs who disappear into trees, trolls who dive underground—and more!
I’m currently writing a series called The Centaurs.
Troll-y Yours is the second book:
Troll-y Yours
Sheri Fredricks
SHE TAKES A CHANCE.
Determined to forge a better life, Ella launches her new business with high hopes—until a sexy Centaur bumps into her and throws her life off course. Voted “Most Eligible Bachelor in Boronda”, Aleksander shakes up her world and tilts her in more ways than one.
HE’S IN DANGEROUS TERRITORY.
Years of warfare and countless bedroom encounters have stolen Kempor Aleksander’s luster for life. He never expects to rediscover his zeal in the small, redheaded form of Ella the Troll, who fires his blood hotter than the deepest caverns in the forest.
A PASSION SO HOT.
But as trouble lingers in their midst—and edges ever closer—Alek and Ella spiral into troubled terrain. Turning to each other, the pair face down dangers that run impenetrably deep in their mythological world. But will the two lovers discover a passion that runs even deeper?

ExcerptGods. So wet, so ready. How was he supposed to hold back?
Ella moaned, parted her thighs to his touch, and he easily found her hot nub with the pad of his thumb. As he sucked deeply on her taut nipple, his thumb brushed back and forth against the tiny bundle of nerves, drawing the little whimpers of pleasure that turned him on even more.
Alek lifted his head to sweep his lips against hers, gently licking them, teasing the corners, nibbling on her full lower one. Her lips lured him with their sensuous swell, and he learned he loved to kiss and taste them. Nip at them.
Lose hours just making love to her mouth.
Ella opened her mouth then, and he pounced on the perfect moment by slipping his tongue to find the hot slickness inside. The hesitant touch of her tongue against his, sent arrows of fire rocking through him. The strike went straight to his throbbing cock and aching balls.Whoa, buddy. Slow down. He only had one opportunity to show how much he wanted her. How he felt about her—royal duties be damned.
Their tongues danced, slowly at first, and then darting back and forth while his thumb continued to work her clit in an unhurried motion. Ella moaned again, the tight sound echoing into his mouth. Her hands pulled at his back, straining her body closer to his.
When she bent her legs and dropped her thighs wide open, he accepted her silent invitation to explore farther. He moved his hand until he slid two fingers into the hot well of her center.
Holy Bacchus. Hot, hot, hot!
So very wet. The tight walls of her sex were slippery with her juices, her flesh pulsing around his fingers.
Aleksander tore his mouth away from her.
“Ella.” His voice was hoarse and he hardly recognized it. “I can’t wait any longer.”
“Then don’t,” she urged. “I want you inside me. I want you now.”
“You don’t need to tell me twice.” Meat Wrench jumped with joy.
Alek levered himself to his knees, ready for action. However, the sight of her damp, welcoming pink center was so tempting, so mouth-watering, that first he had to have a taste. Lowering his head, he used his thumbs to spread her labia wide, then lapped the length of her slit and let his goatee tickle her clit.
“For the love of Bacchus!” Ella’s desperate keen of pleasure sent another surge of heat through him. And he loved those sounds.
Thus, he did it again…and again, not sure who he teased most. Licking the honey-tart taste from his lips, Aleksander moved into position, notching himself at her opening. With one firm roll of his hips, he entered her scorching, wet heat.
Oh, gods of mythic pleasure!

Teaseday – Excerpt from Her Warrior Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 3) – Plus FREE ebook!
Today’s tease comes from the book Her Warrior Angel, which is the third book in my popular Her Angel romance series. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…
She was heading for trouble.
Einar watched the raven-haired woman walking straight towards a male coming the opposite way through the quiet moonlit park. He beat his wings, keeping his position high above them in the cool air.
The woman appeared and disappeared as she passed under the intermittent streetlamps that lined the paths through the park. The lights weren’t strong enough to cut through the darkness, leaving the area as a black hole in a sea of glittering golden and white pinpricks. London stretched out as far as he could see in all directions. The yellow halo over the city drowned out the stars and made the shadowy shapes of the buildings visible to him.
Einar swooped lower in the night, wanting to get a closer look at the two people and needing to be near in case he was right and the man wasn’t a man at all. If the demon showed any sign of attacking the woman, he would intervene. Until that happened, he would watch. It wasn’t his place to interfere in things. He was here to hunt, not protect.
The steady rush of wind over him chilled his skin. Summer was on its way out and autumn was encroaching as surely as the night. The days were growing short and he still hadn’t found his demons. Heaven’s Court were becoming restless with the desire to know why a commander of theirs called Amaer had sided with three demons, assisting them in the disposal of over one hundred human bodies, and had incriminated a fellow angel, setting him up to take the fall.
The angel, an intervention specialist and mediator called Lukas, had fought back though and had proven his innocence. Amaer was dead. Now Einar’s only lead were the demons.
The woman neared the man. Einar’s hand went to the hilt of the blade hanging from his waist. The vambrace protecting his forearm was cold against the strip of stomach exposed between his rich brown and gold breastplate and his dark loincloth. He would soon have to resort to wearing winter armour.
A noise from below caught his attention. The woman was under attack. Einar dived towards her and then halted in mid-air barely a few metres above them when the woman drew a short silver blade from beneath the back of her black jacket and started to fight.
She was breathtaking.
Einar could only stare at her as she fought the male demon, still in his human skin. Her movements were fluid, made only more graceful by her tall slender form and the tight clothes she wore. She swung her leg around, kicking the man in the head. The moment her foot touched the floor, she brought it back again, catching the man unawares and unguarded.
She attacked then, putting the demon on the back foot and keeping him off balance with lunges and swipes of the short blade. It gleamed brightly under the moonlight, flashes of white and silver lines marking its deadly path.
Einar beat his wings to keep steady, mesmerised by the woman and her ability to fight. He had never thought a female could have such skill. He had only ever met females that needed tending to and protecting. This one was different. She could handle a weapon with ease, and with skill almost matching his own, and she radiated confidence and strength. She could take care of herself and he couldn’t bring himself to intervene in her fight, even when his instincts were screaming at him to go down and assist her.
The male demon snarled and shifted his shoulders. Black ragged scaly wings erupted from his back, tearing through his dark shirt, and his hands became talons. Einar’s eyes narrowed.
The history recorded in the pool in Hell had revealed the type of demon that had committed the sin of killing the innocent humans.
This man was one of their breed.
Einar’s dark gaze flickered to the woman. She didn’t even hesitate at the sight of the man’s wings and claws. She continued her attack. If anything, she was putting more effort into it now that the demon had revealed himself.
She wasn’t a stranger to this sort of creature.
The demon screamed and launched himself at the woman, still half in his human guise. The woman blocked each swipe of his talons with her short sword but the demon was forcing her backwards, putting her off balance this time. She rallied, kicking the demon in the shin and then going for the chest. The demon caught her ankle and turned, hurling her along the pavement. She tumbled, losing her weapon, and stopped a few metres away from the demon. Her long dark hair covered her face as she struggled to get to her feet.
Cold fury curled through Einar’s veins, tightening his muscles. He flexed his fingers around the hilt of his sword and gripped it tightly.
He had seen enough.
The demon ran at the woman.
Einar swept down, drew his sword, and blocked the demon’s attack. The man snarled and hissed, and leapt backwards, placing some distance between them. With a deep breath, Einar readied himself, standing tall and stretching his wings out to shield the woman behind him. He used his senses to check on her. She wasn’t badly injured. The rich smell of her blood filled the air and she was muttering dark things under her breath. Other than that, she seemed fine. He would tend to her once he had dealt with the demon.
“Get out of my damn way, you big oaf,” the woman said just as the demon charged them.
Einar turned, confused about whether she was speaking to him. She crouched, tugged the right leg of her dark jeans up, revealing her black leather boot, and the next thing Einar knew, she had a knife in her hand and was running past him. Resilient, resourceful, but foolish.
Unless she wanted to get herself killed.
The demon lashed out, slamming the back of his right hand into the side of her head and sending her skidding across the dewy grass. She landed in a heap and didn’t move.
Grasping his sword, Einar beat his tawny wings and shot towards the demon. He didn’t have time to react. Einar’s sword was through his gut before he could even turn towards him, and Einar twisted it, his eyes locked with the demon’s ones.
“Tell me where the others are hiding,” Einar said and the flicker of fear in the demon’s eyes told him everything he needed to know. He was right. This demon was one of them. “Tell me, and you will live. Do not tell me, and I will banish you to Hell to face your master instead.”
The man’s eyes widened and he shook his head. He opened his mouth to speak and there was a strange rush of cold from below Einar’s feet. A column of darkness swept up and around them, engulfing both him and the demon. Intense heat and a vivid golden glow lit the ground beneath them. The column expanded rapidly and flung Einar backwards. He tumbled head over heels in the air and then stretched his wings out and flapped, righting himself and stopping his descent. He swept back down towards the demon but he was too late. There was a flash and the demon was gone, leaving nothing but a charred circle on the floor and the sickening stench of brimstone hanging in the cool night air.
A dark curse rolled off Einar’s tongue. He landed gently, sheathed his sword, and walked to the burnt patch of path. Crouching, he touched the warm ashes and then sighed. Had someone done this to stop him from talking? It wasn’t the Devil. He took no interest in such affairs and Einar’s threat had been just that—a threat. The Devil wouldn’t do anything if Einar banished a demon to Hell to face the consequences. If anything, he would probably congratulate the demon for doing something to annoy Heaven and the angels.
A groan from the darkness snapped Einar out of his thoughts.
The woman.
She was trying to push herself up off the grass but was having difficulty. Her long dark hair hung in messy strands, obscuring her face. She mumbled black things to herself. The smell of blood was stronger now. The woman touched her arm, flinched, and then collapsed. Einar rushed over to her and knelt at her side. He swept the lengths of hair from her face. She was pale, the moonlight turning her skin milky. Dark patches of blood marred it near her jaw and across her chest above the low line of her black top. There were three long gashes in the right arm of her leather biker jacket. The demon. He must have caught her with his claws.
Einar slid his arm under her back and carefully lifted it off the wet grass, supporting her. She moaned and writhed against him, and then stilled. He stared down at her pale beauty, captivated by it as much as he had been by her fighting. Perhaps he had been mistaken.
Perhaps he was the one heading for trouble.
He touched the blood on her cheek and frowned.
What was trouble’s name?
Was it as beautiful as her looks and the way she fought?
She moaned and then lurched towards him and tackled him to the ground, pinning his wings awkwardly beneath him. He grimaced and tried to get her off him but she pressed her full bodyweight down onto his stomach, groin and chest.
“Who the hell are you?” Her dark eyes were wild, watching him without fear but with anger. She wet her luscious full lips and frowned. Her left hand slid off his damp breastplate and he instinctively caught her to stop her from falling. She shoved his hand away and fixed him with a deadly glare. “Get off me. Bloody angels. Always interfering.”
She wavered a moment later and clenched her jaw.
Her eyes slipped shut and then shot open again.
“It is the toxin,” Einar said in a quiet voice, not wanting to enrage her. He rested his hands beside his head on the damp grass, trying to show her that he didn’t intend to hurt her, and smiled. “I can fix that for you.”
She glanced down at her right shoulder and then pressed a knife against his throat. It trembled, touching his Adam’s apple, and she blinked several times, as though trying to clear her head. How long did she have? Demon toxins worked fast.
“I don’t need your help.” She pushed off him and stumbled across the grass in the empty moonlit park, muttering to herself about her sword.
Einar stood, stretched his wings and flapped them to get his feathers back into place. She was no stranger to angels either judging by the way that she was speaking. He frowned down at his wet backside and legs, and then cocked his head to one side and watched her. Regardless of what she said, she did need his help. The most virulent demon toxin only took a few minutes to work its way into blood and only another hour on top of that to spread through the body and kill the host. It was difficult to get rid of and he was certain she knew that. What did she plan to do? Human drugs had little effect on such poison. It would take another demon to remove it. Was she in league with them? He hadn’t wanted to believe such a thing when he had first seen her, but he couldn’t deny that it was a possibility.
She stooped to pick up her sword and collapsed into a heap.
Einar was beside her in an instant. He collected her blade, jamming it into his sword belt, and then lifted her into his arms. He didn’t care what she had done before tonight, he wasn’t going to let her go and seek the aid of demons now that he was here.
He froze.
Was he protecting her?
Why?
His gaze traversed her delicate face.
He was definitely heading for trouble.
It was forbidden for him to have any sort of feeling for her.
He stared at her a moment longer, torn between leaving her to find her own way of clearing the poison from her blood and taking her with him to his place and removing it for her. The hunter in him said to leave her. She wasn’t worth anything and would only cause him trouble.
The man in him said to save her.
Einar closed his eyes, cradled her to his chest, and took flight.
He couldn’t leave her to fend for herself. It didn’t matter that Heaven forbid him to intervene in such matters or to feel anything for her. His heart whispered to help her and he would do just that. He would rid her body of the poison and restore her strength. If anyone asked him why he had done such a thing, he would lie and say that he had done it for information.
Not because he was drawn to her.
She woke during the flight to his hotel. He kept his gaze on the rooftops of London, charting his course and checking it for any sign of trouble. The sky was his tonight, shared only with the constant circling planes above him as they waited to land at one of the busy airports. They were too high to bother to him. He couldn’t fly at that altitude when carrying mortal cargo. The air was too cold and too thin for such a fragile creature.
He glanced down at her, meeting her dark eyes. They shone with something between confusion and anger.
“How are you feeling?” Einar fixed his gaze ahead again, sensing that if he continued to stare at her, she was likely to start fighting him.
“I’d feel a lot better if you put me down.” She pushed his chest so quickly that he almost lost his grip on her. A moment later, she was clutching the edges of his deep brown breastplate and curled up against him, fear pounding in her veins so strongly that he could sense it as though it was his own. “Christ Almighty, we’re flying.”
He smiled.
It touched his lips before he could even think to contain it.
She had made him smile.
Not a forced one as he generally managed, but a real smile.
He tightened his grip on her knees and her ribs, and swooped lower with her, so she wouldn’t be afraid. He levelled off just above the rooftops and narrowed his eyes on the spot in the distance where the hotel was located.
“Keep going, Romeo, all the way down.” She tugged at his breastplate, as though she could control his descent by doing such a thing and force him to land.
“I do not think so.” Einar glanced at her again. “You are particularly resilient to demon toxin but you are in no fit state to be left alone. I will tend to you once we are somewhere safe.”
“There’s nowhere safe in this city,” she mumbled and then, as they flew over a higher building, she twisted out of his arms.
Einar went after her. She turned and twirled in the air like a cat finding its footing during a fall, and landed soundly on her feet on the roof of the building. Stupid woman. She made it ten steps before collapsing.
“Shit.” She got to her feet and tried to run again, this time reaching the edge of the roof and balancing there, staring down into the street below.
“Where do you intend to run to?” He landed behind her and caught her arm, afraid that she would fall. She turned to look at him with wide eyes that spoke of fear, her lips parted and teasing him with temptation. Desire tugged at his gut. He pulled her back into his arms, lifted her again and cradled her close to his chest. He stared at her mouth, almost willing to give in, and then forced his gaze up to meet hers. “You are in no fit state to run.”
“I felt better.” She frowned, looked herself over, and then met his eyes again. “And then I felt terrible.”
He smiled for a second time. “It is my presence that staves off the toxin. The moment you were away from my touch, the infection returned. I do not intend to harm you… whoever you are.”
She swallowed, blinked, and then looped her arms around his neck and smiled saucily. “You don’t get my name that easily, Romeo.”
Einar looked down at her arms and shivered when she tangled her fingers in the short threads of his ponytail. Her fingertips grazed his neck, sending another wave of tingles trickling down his spine. Her breath washed his face as she leaned in close, pulling herself up and pressing her cheek to his. Her lips grazed his ear and he was lost, empty inside, unable to focus on anything but the feel of her against him and the anticipation of hearing her speak.
“You’ve got to tell a girl your name first,” she whispered into his ear. Was it the toxin making her act so strangely, or was she always like this with men, so forward and teasing? “It’s considered polite.”
He closed his eyes, swallowed to ease his dry throat, and resisted his desire to clutch her to him, to hold her where she was so he could feel her body against his a moment longer.
“Einar.” He breathed his name on a sigh, unable to find his voice for some reason. What was she doing to him? Was she temptation sent by the Devil to test him?
“Mmm, that’s a strong name for a strong boy.” She ran her hands down his biceps and they trembled under her soft touch. He shook when she cupped his cheeks, sending warmth racing through every inch of him, and drew back to look into his eyes. She smiled. “Now… put me the hell down!”
She head-butted him and he stumbled backwards, losing his grip on her. Before he could grab her, she had leapt to the next building and was running again. Einar touched his forehead and frowned. Why was she running from him? Was she afraid that he was going to harm her? He had no intention of hurting her. He only wanted to help.
He stretched his wings and flew after her, keeping his distance this time. She would falter soon enough. He hadn’t lied to her. It was only his touch and presence that slowed the effects of the poison on her body. He gave her a minute before she collapsed again and became compliant once more.
She didn’t even last that long. Before she was halfway across the rooftop, she tripped and fell flat on her face. She didn’t get back up. She lay there on the damp black tar roof, breathing hard.
Einar landed close beside her and she grabbed his ankle and looked up at him out of the corner of her eye, threads of her long hair cutting across her cheek.
She said something he couldn’t make out. He crouched close to her and her hand touched his bare knee.
“Maybe I’ll take you up on that offer.” Her words were so quiet that he barely heard her. She closed her eyes and sighed. “Not feeling myself today.”
Einar carefully lifted her back into his arms. She lay there, lax against him, breathing softly and slowly. He could feel her fatigue. She had only made things worse by trying to escape. Exerting herself had quickened the process of spreading the poison through her body. She shivered and moaned.
“Taylor.”
He frowned.
Her eyes fluttered open, their dark depths capturing his attention and holding it. She almost smiled.
“My name… it’s Taylor.” She closed her eyes and leaned her cheek against his shoulder and bicep.
Einar held her close to him and looked at her. Taylor.
A strong but beautiful name for a strong beautiful woman.
He took flight with her again, heading for the hotel and pondering this strange twist of fate that had brought her into his life. She was turning his world, distorting its axis, and he was sure of only one thing.
He was heading for trouble.

One of Heaven’s top hunters, Einar is on a mission to uncover why an angel was working with demons. When he finds the first demon fighting a beautiful woman, he intervenes and saves her life, even when he knows Heaven will hold it against him. The alluring, lethally seductive female is half demon.
There is no love in this world more forbidden than that between an angel and a demon.
Taylor vowed long ago to protect her city from the lowest demons and she isn’t about to let an angel waltz in and take over, and she’s certainly not about to fall in love with him, even if he is gorgeous. Determined to do her job as a hunter, she convinces the dangerously sensual warrior to team up with her, but as the mission leads them deep into the city’s demon underworld, desire flares white-hot between them and not even fear of the consequences can stop the flames of their passion from consuming them both.
Can a love so forbidden ever have a happy ending or are they destined to break each other’s hearts?

Sensual Sunday – Hot excerpt from Her Fallen Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 2) plus FREE ebook
Sensual Sunday is brought to you today by Her Fallen Angel, which is the second book in my popular Her Angel romance series. Sensual Sunday’s always feature a hot excerpt from one of my paranormal romance books. Read on for this Sunday’s sensual snippet…
Lukas opened the bedroom door for Annelie. She smiled as she passed him and then stopped in the middle of the cream room, near the foot of the double bed. It had been a nice evening, peaceful, and he felt as though he had made progress with Annelie. She had asked a lot of questions. Some of them he had answered, and others either Serenity or Apollyon had. It had gone well and Annelie seemed more comfortable around him now.
He wished he felt so relaxed.
He closed the door, swallowed his nerves, and turned to face her. She sat on the end of the bed, her hands pale against the dark brown covers.
“I can sleep on the floor.” Lukas looked there, avoiding her gaze.
“Apollyon and Serenity seem happy.” Annelie smiled when his eyes met hers.
He nodded. “They are. I can feel it.”
“You can?” Her eyebrows rose and she stood and then sat again.
“Is something wrong?” He sat beside her and she shuffled to face him, sitting at an angle with one leg on the bed.
“I don’t know.” She toyed with the hem of her dark t-shirt and shrugged. “I just feel a bit nervous.”
Lukas smiled. “You are not the only one.”
A brief smile tugged at her lips.
He hesitated and then took hold of her hands. “How can I convince you? I will do anything, Annelie.”
Her smile returned and she twisted her fingers around his, gently tangling them together. His heart beat hard against his chest and he waited for her answer, balanced on the edge of falling and desperate to hear if there was anything that he could do to make her see that he loved her and that things between them could be heaven if she gave him a chance.
“You don’t need to convince me. I’m not nervous about that.” She stroked his hands and looked up into his eyes. Her dark brown ones were full of honesty. She had looked at him so openly several times tonight and each had taken his breath away. Sometimes he had even fooled himself that he saw love in her eyes and that she was going to say that she wanted to be with him, and now it felt as though he was on the precipice of that happening. “I’m nervous about tomorrow.”
“You will be safe here with Serenity.”
She smiled. “No… not for me… for you, Lukas.”
The sound of his name on her lips stirred his heart and he wrapped his fingers around hers, holding them tightly.
“I will be fine. I am stronger than Serenity thinks. It is true that I am vulnerable to temptation but I will not surrender to it. Nothing can take me away from you, Annelie. I will come back.”
He wasn’t sure what to do when she released his hands and threw her arms around his neck, burying her face against it. He flexed his fingers and then wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. She sighed into his throat, her warm breath teasing him, and he closed his eyes. It felt more than good to have her back in his arms. It was bliss. It was the first clear sign of her intent to give him the chance he so desperately wanted with her.
Lukas held her close and rubbed her back, hoping to soothe her. He risked it and turned his head towards her and pressed a kiss to her hair. She didn’t push him away. He kissed her again and she murmured his name against his throat.
“It has been a long day. You should get some sleep. I will take the floor.” He stilled, waiting to hear what she would say. She had to answer this time. He had to know where this was heading and whether she really was going to choose to be with him. It had been torture to be so close to her all day and not be able to act on his feelings for fear of scaring her away with them. He had wanted to hold her close so many times, to kiss her breathless and make sweet love to her. He had wanted everything they’d had in their night together.
Annelie emerged from his arms, her brown eyes dark with her wide pupils, and stroked her fingers down his chest.
“I don’t want you to sleep on the floor.” Her fingers brushed across his white shirt and down his arms, curling around his biceps.
“What do you want?” He held her gaze, needing to see it in her eyes when she said it so he would believe her and believe that this was happening.
Her shy smile stole his heart.
“I want you.”
Lukas couldn’t resist her then. He caught her around the waist, pulled her against him, and kissed her. She rewarded him sweetly for his courage, her lips dancing over his, stirring the passion that had lingered inside him since he had made love to her. He wanted to do that again, this time knowing that she was aware of what he was and everything was out in the open.
Her tongue swept over his lower lip and he touched it with his, encouraging her to let go of the restraint he could feel in her and embrace her passion as she had done before. She moaned and stroked her tongue along the length of his, teasing him and luring him into deepening the kiss. She surprised him by pushing against his shoulders. He fell back onto the bed, her body on his, and her breasts squashed against his arm and chest. Their kiss turned heated and she giggled when her teeth knocked his and then sat back.
Lukas stared at the ceiling, breathing hard and silently begging her to come back to him. He wanted to kiss her again, needed to feel her body on his, and hungered to be inside her.
He groaned when she stripped her t-shirt off, revealing her bra-clad breasts, and tried to grab her. She evaded him, hopped from the bed, and tortured him by shimmying out of her jeans. Too much. He reached for her again but she smiled and shook her head. His anger over her teasing disappeared the moment the stood over him at the foot of the bed, between his legs. She smiled wickedly.

Teaseday – Excerpt from Her Dark Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 1) – Plus FREE ebook!
Today’s tease comes from the book Her Dark Angel, which is the first book in my popular Her Angel romance series. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…
Serenity’s hazel eyes went wide and she stepped back when the hulking mass of man standing before her drew the sword that hung at his waist, afraid that he had changed his mind and was going to kill her after all. She wasn’t sure what to think when he eased himself down onto one knee in front of her, lowered his head, and held his sword out to her, the hilt and tip of the beautiful blade resting on his palms.
“I am yours to command.” His French was perfect, making his deep voice so sexy that a shiver tripped over her skin whenever he spoke.
Was she supposed to do something?
People were staring again as they passed. What did they see? They certainly weren’t seeing a man offering a sword to her, that was for sure. To them, did he look as though he was kneeling with his hands raised in supplication?
Was he dressed in black and gold armour that didn’t leave much to the imagination?
Did he have huge black feathered wings?
She imagined that he didn’t. If he did, the people would probably be screaming rather than merely glancing at him as though he had gone insane.
“Erm, okay.” Serenity hesitated before touching the sword. The gleaming steel was cold beneath her fingers. She took her hand away, not liking the feel of it. “Thanks.”
He stood with grace, his muscles shifting beneath his golden skin, and she tried not to stare at his physique. Either he worked out a lot, or angels were naturally endowed with the body of a god. He was pure perfection as he stood close to her, his broad chest rising and falling, moving the beautifully decorated black breastplate. His stomach was bare, taut muscles delighting her hungry eyes, and the smallest black loincloth in the world protected his modesty.
Something that she was lacking. She lowered her gaze, taking in the toned length of his legs. They were as powerful as the rest of him. Her eyes roamed back up, over the black cuffs that covered his forearms, decorated in gold with images of lions, and over his biceps to his strong shoulders. From there, they wanted to go to his face, but his wings were too fascinating. They were large, casting a shadow across both him and her, tucked against his back.
She wanted to walk around him and investigate every delicious inch of him, taking in that he really was an angel and not a man parading as one.
An angel.
Abaddon.
Her mother had taught her gods, goddesses and mythology. She knew all about him and his kind.
Her eyes finally leapt to his face. He had a smile that could stop hearts and vivid blue eyes with icy flecks in them. They held her gaze, unwavering and strong, and her temperature rose when they narrowed slightly and his pupils widened. What was he thinking in there?
Did he like what he saw as much as she did?
The man was a god.
No, an angel.
And he was beautiful.
