Mardi Gras Moon Pie Bars
If you got your hot hands on the Joy the Baker 2021 Holiday Magazine you might have flipped to the back pages and noticed page after page of sparkle jackets, andouille sausage, crawfish, and the unsung hero of all late winter street parades: THE MOON PIE. It’s Mardi Gras, baby! It’s that time of year we hit the streets hoping to catch beads, plastic cups, handmade glittered shoes, and a packaged Moon Pie cookie.

My New Orleans Favorites, Spring 2022
It feels like New Orleans is coming out enough of a global pandemic and I hope that means you’re on your way there to help us eat all this food! Here is my list of the best restaurants in New Orleans updated for spring 2022. This is by no means an exhaustive list but these are some of my favorite places to belly up and chow down in the city. New Orleans is the kind of city that carries you away, and you should let it.

Let It Be Sunday, 360!
Welcome to Sunday! A note before we get to our Sunday offering from our friend Toby! Joy the Baker has always been a space where I can learn and grow and experiment. You’ve been witness to it all and I’m so thankful. Truth is, Joy the Baker requires more that what I can offer you on my own. Joy the Baker is me alongside a small but mighty team who I would like for you to meet and know.

Smoked Andouille Sausage and Cream Cheese Rolls
Let me give you a little peek into Mardi Gras season down here in Louisiana. Mardi Gras is a celebration MARATHON and y’all well know that the best part of any marathon is the carb loading. We take our sustenance very seriously this time of year as we need sustained energy to walk the parade route searching for friends, jumping for beads, and otherwise horsing around well past sunset.
Think of these rolls as generous Mardi Gras appetizers, a potluck brunch WOWER (technical term for when you impress everyone before noon), or an offering for your friend who “just isn’t into sweets” (hmm… sus).

One-Pot Wonders
Have you ever been so overwhelmed that loading the dishwasher seems like a phenomenal task? I am but a singular lady living in a studio apartment. Every day I marvel at the sheer amount of dishes I collect in a few short hours. Cups on my nightstand, plates on the TV tray (2 feet away from my nightstand), coffee and tea mugs on my kitchen island (3 feet away from the TV tray).

Let It Be Sunday, 359!
Hello, friends! It’s another fine Sunday and I’m so thankful we’re here together!
This week I’ve had to urge to get out in the garden to fuss with the plants. To be clear, it’s just been an urge and the plants outside are yellowing twigs more than anything… but there’s something in that feeling. Sparks of spring renewal? Is this them? I’ve been taking long neighborhood walks in the early morning with my coffee in a thermose.

Small-Batch Chocolate Eclairs
If there’s one pastry that will make you feel like an absolute wizard in the kitchen it’s eclairs! Somehow a stovetop dough (??) comes together into these light as air pastry pockets for vanilla whipped cream and chocolate ganache. It’s a simple wonder and, with this chocolate eclair recipe, yours to unlock.
Today’s offering is the dessert companion to Marry Me Chicken and combine to make one heck of a Valentine’s Day meal, ifIdosaysomyself.

One-Pot Marry Me Chicken
I love a recipe that comes as folklore. Legendary with a sprinkle of drama. A great story even if it’s only half true. My favorite are the recipes that, as legend would have it, are SO GOOD they’ll inspire a marriage proposal. Has a chicken alone ever carried so much weight? This is likely how our favorite Aunt Ina bagged our favorite Uncle Jeffrey, with a roasted chicken, good quality olive oils and tomatoes picked from the garden, amen amen.

Why Won’t Winter End?
Hi friends! It’s February in New Orleans and technically I have absolutely no business complaining about winter. I’ve brought new JtB editor Abby Mallett who lives in Chicago (and has every right to complain about winter) in to share a few of her favorite Joy the Baker recipes to beat back the winter blues with kitchen cozies. Here’s Abby ——>
There is a period between the middle of January to the end of March where the laws of time do not apply.

Let It Be Sunday, 358!
Hello friends and welcome to your Sunday. We have our friend Kim Baldwin here with our Sunday offerings. Let them ease you through this never ending January feeling (I know it’s February I don’t want to talk about it). My humble offering is the coffee I suggest you make for yourself and the above confetti chocolate chip cookies because when all else fails, eat something rainbow. I’m so glad you’re here.
