It's HERE!

I just got my contributor's copy of Boys of Summer This has my story, Cave Canem, in it, and is the second sale for my YA pseudonym, Dia Pannes.  Edited by Steve Berman, it's from Bold Strokes Press.

Here's a little sniblet to whet your appetite:

Brody blushed.  It was the first time I'd seen him do it, and it was fascinating, watching his complexion slowly redden. "I, uh. Might have looked at your phone. I saw you take a picture of me, all right?"

It was my t...

We Are Winning, Believe It Or Not

It is a good morning. I do not understand how to use the LJ cut now, if someone can explain it to me in simple, Cindy-isn't-even-done-her-coffee terms, I shall cut this rambly mess; otherwise, little fishies, into the water we go.

I want to talk this morning about how there is something truly glorious about middle age - or extremely advanced youth, now that we're working steadily on living forever (Is anyone else creeped out by the financial planning commercial with the librarian who 'just...

Onward

3k down, a whole bunch to go! Power's still on, Tim's at the fire station now on standby, the weather is looking all "Hey, remember the ice storm?" which is nostalgia I really don't need...

Monday Morning: Here We Go, Part Deux

The kids are off to school, the roads are wet and the ground standing under a good inch or so of slushy frozen rain puddle. Today, then, I belong to the sump pump and to the prose; if I am to be pleased with myself, I shall write 10K words today. Which means not much here, but you understand. Sometimes Mondays, they are like that.

Monday Morning: Here We Go

It's ice and slush and rain outside; trucks are going by far faster than I would go, and I've just seen the town supervisor and the plow truck. So far school is open, and open on time- we'll see if that stays the case.

I have about six million things to write today; I haven't slept well. Hoping coffee does its magic. I'm doing the 100 thing meme on here, you'll see those entries labeled x:100, and I'm using those to track a bit of story, a little bit true but mostly really not, out of my head,...

What do you see, little bunny? Tell me what you see.

The words come whiskey-scented, cigarette stained. They are yellow around the edges. His fingertips are scratchy, like sandpaper or the pads of cat's feet. When he touches something, dead bits of skin flake off him, tiny, wee and white, legless lice contaminating everything. There's drool always in the corner of his mouth, a little foul sticky river. Blinded for the war, although not in the war - and that's a distinction that's important in...

Thursday Morning, Here We Go!

Tim is already off on an emergency response call; the girls are waiting for the bus. I can hear the neighbor children yelling to Nadia. So far, she hasn't yelled back.

Look at this amazing French beaded flower my sister GertieK made:

I think it's just gorgeous! I love my garden flowers, but there's something most appealing about blooms that sparkle and last for all time. GertieK is so talented, although she always tries to tell you *no* when you say that to her.

Ah, the bus just came, and some q...

Yay!

Do you know the "What you would do with all the money if you won the lottery" game? It's easy to play; just imagine what you would do with all the untold riches, or, if you tend toward the maudlin, like me, figure out how quickly it would take your life to unravel completely in a fleshy, inebriated, paradisiacal flameout of epic proportions. It's fun to do, either way, but it's all just pretend.

And then there's that little voice that says "What if, for real, you won? It could happen. What wo...

Rise and Shine, Rise and Shine, Rise and Shine

It is going to be a beautiful day! Sunny and unseasonably warm; Tim and I were fixing to go fishing, but now I'm not sure if that plan is happening or not. So it's blogging for dollars until the day's agenda formalizes.

It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice to have the kids off to school - and they were happy to go, too - we're all reaching a point where we can actually enjoy each other's company, but enough is enough sometimes too. We're getting into testing season, which is a high-stress time...

Free Hot Lesbian Adventuresses - Waiting For You!

That may be the best headline I've ever written. And for bonus points, it's true! Today (and I'm pretty sure it's today only, so act fast) my friend Angelia Sparrow is giving away the Kindle version of her book Adventuresses. It's ten tales of lesbian adventure take you from the far reaches of the galaxy to the science fiction convention down the road, from a steampunk west to a world where the Confederacy got nukes. Come along and fall in love with a waitress or a pirate...
