Living Well Is Only The Beginning Of My Revenge

Be here with me now. We can do that, you and I. K.D. is up there singing, and that's the closest I've got to an angel chorus singing. I want to talk to you about love.

God damn, I wish we all got the love we needed from each other. I surely surely do. We go around with souls and psyches ripped through like cheap Swiss cheese, each hole a missing bit of love. Maybe this bit was supposed to come from your parents and this bit was supposed to come from your friends and this bit was supposed to co...

Quote of the Day

"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it." Winston Churchill.

I think I am going to chisel those words into a great big rock and plant it in the middle of my yard so I can see it every single day.

Living Well Is Only The Beginning Of My Revenge

Rise and shine, rise and shine, rise and shine, my darlings. It is going to be a fabulous day.

I was daydreaming yesterday, out in the yard, looking at a black birch tree that grows on the other side of the swamp. It was really warm and sunny; the sky was perfect blue. We have this really comfy chair outside. It sways, just a bit, not a rocker nor a hammock, but somewhere delightfully in between.

Somehow into my mind came an old woman, and by old here, understand that I mean old-in-time as well...

Rise and Shine, Rise and Shine, Rise and Shine

It is Friday, and I am glad! It's been a long week. School is wrapping up: Harmony has three days left, Nadia a little over two weeks, and then it is summer time. We've got some good plans for this summer, and I've only one book to write; it will be a good season. I just need to focus, focus, focus - but before I focus, I need to sleep, sleep, sleep. I woke up this morning and wrote two articles. I've a longer piece to do that I'm blocking on for some reason. Today we've got to take the van i...

Tuesday Notes to Self

Even if you are a person who fixes problems, that does not mean you are the only person who can fix problems, nor that you must fix every problem, nor that everyone else gets excused from their responsibility for fixing problems. As a rule of thumb, if there is an ENTIRE PROFESSION DEVOTED ENTIRELY to fixing the problem you are struggling to fix on your own, it might be a good idea to let the pros handle it. If a problem comes up, you are not automatically the person who is responsible for fi...

It's Monday

And I'm in a shambles, a rambles, a fall-the-fuck-apart sort of mood. It's raining, the type of day made for flailing and self-recrimination; if I were a Cybelian, my back would surely be bloody now. Mondays, they are not good for the soul.

There is no time on the to-do list for that. So instead I will practice organic SEO and countdown the minutes until sushi>

Thursday Morning

How is it that it is those very things which seemed the heart of virtue once with no alteration save the passage of years become mere youthful folly? We grow up, we do, and we change. Everything is uncertain.

It is unsettling to find yourself regarding decisions previously made with a fresh perspective; at the same time, you don't want to discount the experiences of the person you were when you made those decisions. But it turns out that you don't stop growing up. You live, you learn,...

A beautiful poem

Thanks to Serphimsigrist for sharing this this morning; it is truly beautiful:

I LEARNED THE GRASS AS I BEGAN TO WRITE

By Arseny Tarkovsky
Translated by Philip Metres; Dimitri Psurtsev

I learned the grass as I began to write,
And the grass started whistling like a flute.
I gathered how color and sound could join
And when the dragonfly whirred up his hymn,
Passing through green frets like a comet, I knew
A tear was waiting in each drop of dew.
Knew that in each facet of the huge eye,
In each rainbow of b...
