More fun news for those who live in the UK. Starting in October (pretty sure about that month) you'll be able to download HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND from the Mills and Boon site for FREE!  Yes, the whole book for free.  How cool is that?  Here's the site to check out.

Rejected!

Yes, even published authors get rejections.  All the time.  You don't always hear about it, because who wants to shout that out to the world?  Authors tend to announce their sales, and keep the rest hush-hush.

I just found out a novella was rejected, something I'd been hoping would get picked up for an anthology.  But it's only my first rejection, so my hopes are still high.  I'm at the point where, after a story is rejected, I get right on to the next project, or call my agent and discuss who...

Dancing!

Stars were just announce for Dancing With The Stars.  Of course I always root for Maksim, and he might have a chance with Brandy as his partner.  But Bristol Palin?  Are they serious?  I thought she'd dumped Levi because he was such a fame-seeker.  Hmm...  Florence will be fun to watch, and she may stick around a while because she is a great performer.  Jennifer Grey could have a chance too.  Not sure about the rest of them, but just excited for another season!

If you live in the UK you can now get a copy of THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF PARANORMAL ROMANCE 2, in which, you will find my short story "The Sin Eater's Promise" (along with lots of other cool authors).  This story is set in my BEAUTIFUL CREATURES world, and the hero is Blackthorn Regis, a soul bringer who played a small part in ANGEL SLAYER, and the heroine is a sin eater, Desdenova Fleetwood.  It's a surprisingly sweet romance, and I kinda freaked myself out with the odd religious undertones.  It ...

Looking for an ichor den?

You may be, if you're a vampire.  Had some fun with Photoshop today and created the symbol for an ichor den that vampires recognize worldwide.

What makes you happy?

Lunch with friends yesterday and today.  Great way to celebrate another birthday.  So what I want to know today is...what makes you happy?

Simple things make me happy.

A cat hugging me
Cheese sticks
A favorite song on the radio
A lyrical book
Soft shirts (on my hubby)
Mouthwash
Rain at night
Little Caesar's pizza
A perfect sentence easily written
A squishy pillow
Bubble baths
The AllState commercial with Mayhem
Smores
Ornamental letters
A toadstool circle
Dragonflies
Kind words
Cello rock
Silver and black

Have...

Gardening

I've said it before, if it needs care and watering, the plant does not belong in my garden.  I am not a gardener, but I do like succulents, and the challenge of trying to keep them alive over winter so I can enjoy them again in the summer.  Mostly, that challenge consists of me taking the plants inside, and then ignoring them for four or five months.  :-)  I like taking pictures better than mucking about in the dirt, so here goes:

The top view of an agave I've had for years.  Amazing it has su...

Collecting Characters.

I've been working in my BEAUTIFUL CREATURES world bible lately.  Adding a lot of new characters that have just lately popped into my brain.  They're not even in the current story I'm working on, but I can see a use for them in future stories.  Here's a few of their names: Britt, Leo, Rook, King, Domingos, Gunnar.
I think it's a good idea to look ahead when writing a series.  If you can foresee characters you'd like to work with in the future, then trying to mention them in your current story i...

Foreign copies

I love getting foreign copies of my books in the mail.  Whenever I get them, I pick out one and place it on my bookshelf next to the original US version.  It's fun to look at the different versions all lined up.
Today I got two boxes of books.  One was UK copies of THE HIGHWAYMAN.  Really thick, and the cover is that matt finish that I love.  Very cool.  And the Australian copies for HER VAMPIRE HUSBAND are huge.  They're like trade size, but seem almost a little bigger.  Wow!  Looks cool that...
