Awesome post about the myth of the writing muse

The fact is, writing is a lot of hard work. Even "automatic writing" (another phrase I hate) is a lot of work. Whether the muse shows up or not, you have to sit at that computer. And it doesn't always, or even often, feel like pure zen creamy goodness. Before you even get to that computer, you have to think long and hard about what book you're writing, follow plotlines in your head, create characters, design plots, research endlessly. And before that, it helps to get an education in something in

Podcasts and toilets and names, oh my!

Chapters 30 and 31 of The Good Ghoul's Guide to Getting Even are up on the podcast! Check in after the chapter for more DC dish and my house woes…like my very own Moaning Myrtle. Sigh…. There really are better ways to spend thousands of dollars than fixing your pipes and getting water out of your walls.

The best laid plans …

I was going to be SO productive tonight while the dh is out eating fish 'n' chips and drinking beer with a friend at a fabulous pub in Austin. My plans: read another chapter of HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban to Catherine (our deal – she can read them, but we do read aloud first; haven't decided if we'll go past book 3 yet…they get darker). Record 3 more podcast episodes to get ahead. Do another chunk of revisions. Go through all the email that came in during conference. Do post-conference
