Going postal…grr!

So, yesterday I had to go to the post office, and I had to actually stand in line because I was shipping internationally and haven’t yet figured out how to do that with the automated postal machine.

About six months ago, for reasons inexplicable to me, the local post office got rid of the little paper number machine (which I fondly remember from an ice cream store when I was a kid; perhaps folks thought they were getting ice cream?) so now you have to stand in line instead of sitting comfortably

Buy a shirt – help create a library in Africa! And get one of my books for free!

This is from a friend of mine, Alyson, who is about to graduate college and go spend two years in Africa! It’s a great cause, so if you’re inclined to help, please do. And, hey, you get a shirt from Alyson … and for those of you who donate as a result of this post (i.e., you send the money to my PO Box or my paypal account, as set out below) I’ll send you a book from my backlist. Feel free to specify which book you want, and I’ll do my best to accommodate, but I have limited copies of some ti

I found www.livestrong.com recently, and am using their Daily

Edgar Guest, you’re my kinda guy

A Book by Edgar Guest

“Now” - said a good book unto me -

“Open my pages and you shall see

Jewels of wisdom and treasures fine,

Gold and silver in every line,

And you may claim them if you but will

Open my pages and take your fill.

“Open my pages and run them o’er,

Take what you choose of my golden store.

Be you greedy, I shall not care -

All that you seize I shall gladly spare;

There is never a lock on my treasure doors,

Come - here are my jewels, make them yours!

“I am just a book on your mantel s

If Homer’s Odyssey Was Written On Twitter

If Homer’s Odyssey Was Written On Twitter | www.holytaco.com.

This is a hoot. Clever and fun … So, let’s see.  That means that within the last year, I’ve read an adult translation (don’t recall by whom), the Mary Pope Osbourne version for kids (which are awesome by the way), and now the 140 characters at a time version. So would Homer have been a Twitter fan?
