What's on your bookshelf (and contest winner announced!)
Congrats to Larena Wirum, who won a signed copy of Tainted and an advance copy of Torn!
Recently, I asked the readers of my newsletter what was on their bedside table (because, hey, you can never have to big a TBR pile and I wanted to make sure mine has all the best stuff). I did a random drawing for the winner above, and I also wanted to share this list (some books I already had, but y'all may not, so I'm copying everything.) Anybody out there have comments or additions?

Plaintiff Pleads Penis Pinching…(ahem)
And to think I left the practice of law to write full time … (what's that about truth being stranger than fiction?)

Check out my Dear Reader Letter on the Ace web page!
I really like Lily.
In a lot of ways, the heroine of my new Blood Lily Chronicles series is similar to other heroines I've written, especially Kate Connor, my demon hunting soccer mom from the suburban town of San Diablo. Both Kate and Lily are women who speak their mind often with a sarcastic turn of phrase. Both are loyal to their families. Most important, both fight demons.

I'm at Tales of Scales science
Class with Isabella. This guy is a big un, but seeing him reminded me of my childhood summers at Doublecreek Farm day camp. Once each session, we'd all go find a horned toad, paint a number on his back, and have horned toad races. There were gazillions of them. Now, in the almost 8 years Catherine has been alive, I don't think I've seen even one in the wild–and our yard qualifies as the wild [image error]

Gold in the email pile!
"Author Julie Kenner has written the perfect teen novel" – Awwww! Don't you love it when you're not having a particularly great week and then folks say nice things about you? I've got approximately 8 million emails in my inbox, and despite the All Powerful And Wonderful iPhone, I am seriously backlogged, mostly because I've just been so busy dealing with stuff for my mom, and even reading/replying on an iPhone takes time (though I will say with all my driving back and forth to the rehab...

Moms and daughters (and podcasts)
I had a personal punch in the gut yesterday, right about the time I was writing up a guest blog for Yankee Romance Reviewers. (My mom's spirits are up, but the mobility of her right side has decreased over the last 24 hours. I have high hopes for rehab, though…)
In other news, Chapter 18 of TAINTED is up at Kennercast!
