Ryan wants to connect with you.

Don't you just love spam? Not the processed meat – I mean those delightful emails and comments you get that serve no purpose other than to lead you to a rogue website…

I was noticing on my Windows Live Messenger this little line that said "You have 11 invitations." Invitations? Am I missing some amazing event that's going on out there? I couldn't wait to click the link and find out what was going on.

Turns out – they were invitations to be "friends" with people on MSN.

One of...

Memorial Day Memories.

Memorial Day (an encore presentation)

For me, Memorial Day is the ultimate in life celebrations. I am picturing it now – what it would look like, who would attend the party, what I would be wearing, how fabulous my hair would look, people being overheard saying "Love your hair, hope you win!".

It's really never too soon to plan your Memorial Day festivities.

As celebrations are apt to do – it all starts with the food. Cider and white wine sangria (it's the season to shift from...

To Boldly Go.

Please thank these event sponsors!

Space. The potentially final frontier. These are the voyages of David, Laura, and Heath. Their 2-hour mission to explore strange new exhibits, to see out TV and movie paraphernalia, to boldly go where thousands of people are going to go through the end of the year.

Star Trek – The Exhibition is now at the Aerospace Museum of California, and will be there through January 5, 2011. This is the largest collection of information and artifacts from t...

This must be why no comments in a month.

I received this comment, which was actually caught in the spam filter since it came from some sex URL, but I think this must be the reason no one has commented on anything in weeks.

I hate to sound like a nitpick, but your grammar is just…deplorable. I want to be interested in this, I really do. But it seems you spent so much time on the design (which, I will say, is amazing) that you forgot that people actually have to read your blog. Clean this up…PLEASE. It could be so...

Rob on the Road Winery Weekend

This weekend we participated in a Rob on the Road event – Wine Tasting in Amador County. It was a delightful experience and all the proceeds went to support KVIE Public Television – a place that you all know I'm very fond of.

We set out for Volcano, CA on Friday afternoon and arrived at the historic St. George Hotel (built in 1862). It is an absolutely beautiful hotel, complete with saloon, gardens, pet-friendly areas, and a number of guest rooms in the main hotel and the...

There is weather associated.

Apparently there will be weather associated with the Sacramento area this weekend, and it's best described with an overly dramatic graphic from the Weather Channel "widget" on my msnbc.com home page.

* Overly dramatic weather icons from The Weather Channel

We don't typically get what you'd describe as THUNDERSTORMS in Sacramento. In fact, it's something that I miss from the east coast. Big huge booming storms with thunder and lightning were both scary and exciting times growing ...

Luxury SUV's

I hate SUVs. I can't stand their bigness, their bulkiness, their boxyness, or their gas guzzliness.

Even worse, are the Luxury SUVs. The Lexi (btw, Lexus' version is the LUX – Luxury Utility Vehicle – I'm renaming it to the SUX), the Porchi, the Audi, and the disasterous Hummer line (thank goodness these are going away) – all of those upscale, upper class, size of a tank vehicles that barrel down the road full of screaming children while the driver is on their luxury cell...

Why use words when a picture says it all?

Music Makes a People Come Together

Note: I originally published this in 2003, and it's long, so grab a soda and sit for a while. I felt that during this critical time in our country, when separation is becoming the norm, instead of inclusion it might be time to remind everyone that Music Makes a People Come Together. Because look around…everywhere you turn it's heartache, it's everywhere that you go…

Also note: If you are able to accurately count the number of musical references contained herein, you might win...
