Idol 2010 – Week 3

I'd like to start out with the guys this week, only because Lee Dewyze sang Fireflies. If you don't recall – this was my song recommendation that I talked about only a few days ago.

I think Lee did a satisfactory job with the song, and obviously enough to get him into the Top 12 – but I seriously think that his look was enough to get him in there even if he'd done a worse job. But now that I've talked about Lee, let's carry on with the rest of the contestants.

Ladies:

The only t...

Closed Captioning on YouTube

Google has recently introduced Closed Captioning for YouTube videos. I think this is a fantastic idea for the hearing impaired, but it's got a LONG way to go.

I decided to see just how far it has to go by testing out one of the 12 Days of Christmas videos that I put together last year. First I will embed the video so you can refresh your memory, and below it I will include the Closed Caption transcription.

You can judge for yourself just how close it got to what I was actually s...

What is going on in South Carolina?

Instead of watching the Oscars yesterday (turns out it was a good decision because I heard from Bobby Rivers that the Oscars were a bit off) we watched The Best of YouTube. That being a random conglomeration of some of the most insane, wacky, and funny videos that get posted to YouTube in a week.

One of the featured videos was this one: Red Neck Waterskiing in South Carolina

Click here to view the embedded video.

Now I'm all for a good time – and we did enjoy watching this...

American Idol 2010 – Week 2

I haven't talked that much about American Idol this year. Usually I set up a dedicated page for all my Idol ramblings, and usually I'm pretty vigilant about giving a breakdown of each singer and how they did.

Not this time.

This time/season/year I am completely and totally bored. There are so few highlights in this group that I really struggle to have the energy to even write down their names much less the song they sang and what I thought of it.

This specific week, however, was ...

How to Have Good Luck

[image error]I have come up with a list of tips, tricks, best known methods, and suggestions for how you can make sure you're going to have a good day filled with good luck. Enjoy, and good luck.

Wake up in the middle of the night and look at the clock when it's at 12:12, and again at 2:22.Stub your toe on the bench at the foot of the bed, but in doing so avoid stepping into fresh cat vomit. When reaching for the toilet paper, if the roll suddenly doubles on itself giving you a 4-Ply experience – that's...

Welcome to March

[image error]Did you wake up this morning and say "rabbit rabbit" ?? If you did, then you've got a month of good luck coming your way. If you didn't…you might as well just pack it up and try again in April.

I am looking forward to a good March. I was up for most of the night with insomnia and migraine residual – even though I took imitrex, ibuprofin, and melatonin. Rowan was up with me – he was restless as well and just wandered around the living room not sure what to do. Eventually he went back to the...

Owl City – Fireflies

If you haven't heard of Owl City then you haven't been living.

Here's a little snip from Wikipedia, and my favourite track for Q1 2010 that I would like you to enjoy (and buy ;-) )

Owl City is an American synthpop musical project by Adam Young. Young started out making music in his parents' basement in Owatonna, Minnesota, later developing a following through his MySpace profile before being signed to Universal Republic.

Young's influences are disco and European electronic music. After two...
