Black Lily – Now Available!

blacklilyBlack Lily is now available!

A dark specter has been haunting the dungeons at Black Lily, Boston’s premier BDSM club. When half the staff suddenly quits, silent partners Eric and Brad loan their subs Amy and Kali as temporary staff to the general manager, Master Hildolf. After one week of working among an entirely new staff, Amy and Kali learn a few disturbing things – Master Hildolf is a sadistic Dom who takes pleasure in corporal punishment of his submissive staff, and there’s something cree...

Hail to September!

blacklilyWhat an awesome month it’s been! I finally finished Black Lily after a long, busy, and obstacle laden summer. It releases on October 3 – (but is available on Amazon, Kobo, and Smashwords for pre-order) so be sure to check it out, especially if you loved Training Amy and/or Switched! I think readers will enjoy that Black Lily is more like Training Amy than Switched was, but it’s different enough that all three bookshave their own unique flair.Black Lily also has a paranormal undercurrent that...

Authors & Identity — Public vs. Private Lives in Social Networking

online communityI keep reading on social media that Facebook is cracking down on anyone with more than one account. Today I ran across ablogfrom 2010 where the author gets down on Mark Zuckerberg who, back then, was quoted as saying:

Having two identities for yourself is an example of a lack of integrity.

I had to giggle.

I wonder what Zuckerberg would think of my four pen names because technically – I have five identities. Anne O’Connell – the kinky erotic romance novelist, Audrey Brice, the brooding mystery w...

Photography Exhibit

WP_20140325_001Yet another side project that came up this summer…

Some of my recent magickal photography, raw, honest, and beautiful in its imperfection, caught the attention of a curator for theonline art gallery:Salon Arcano: Hermetic Art.

The result isI was asked to do an online exhibit of some of my photographs. Because I would never say no to such an unique opportunity, I chose thirteenimages that capturemy love of alchemy, necromancy, divination, herbalism/horticulture,Daemonsand magick. Everything in t...

Go Forth and Market Thyself – Socially

In the past yearI have been running into an interesting “type” of writer. The writer who loathes social networking so much (s)he avoids it like the plague because(s)he feels ithampers productivity too much. Many of these folks also tend to be the types who are against any type of self-marketing because they’ve read so many articles warning against doing the kind of spam marketing often done by inexperienced first-timeauthors.

I find this new attitude perplexing for several reasons. The first r...

Burning the Candle at Both Ends

burning-the-candle-at-both-ends1It’s what I tend to do. But I also noticed it’s something all the hardcore magicians I know do, too. What I’m saying is I’m not exclusive in my bad habit to bite off more than I can chew and burn the candle at both ends. It’s a delicate art of balance to have so much going on and to keep up with the forward momentum.

I have learned over the years that if I’m producing books like crazy, my domestic life suffers, and if I focus on the domestic, my writing production suffers. Evidently I can’t wa...

On Why I Teach

teacherI learned in my twenties and thirties that I didn’t like to teach. No, really. I hated teaching. Actually, let me clarify, I developed a dislike of students. Mostly because it used to be that I didn’t charge anything to teach. Not a single. damn. cent. Nope. I taught whoever wanted to learn. The problem is that some people say they want to learn and really don’t. So you give them assignments and when they can’t even complete said assignments and turn them in, the teacher wonders why they’re b...

Writing Music

Some people don’t listen to music when they write. For me it depends. Sometimes I like music, sometimes I don’t. Here is a selection of the music on my current writing playlist.

Love me some Hollywood Undead for those times I have to deal with assholes. This one is for the haters. The entire song heralds my sentiments exactly (except with writing instead of music). LOL!

Of course whenever I am writing paranormal, the theme song to Suspiria by Goblinalways comes up. Suspiria is one of my all tim...

Summer Garden Update

It was a little over 100 in the shade a little while ago before the breeze picked up.

My poor veggies looked like they were wilting. So I went out and gave them a mid-day drink. I’ll water them again after 6PM tonight. But when the leaveswere temporarilywilted, I found a good sized cuke, 1 gigantic zucchini (the answer is YES you can successfully grow squash in pots!), more peas, tons of beans (I picked some of both for dinner tonight), the tomato plants are loaded, and there are two butternut...
