New Release: Shadow Marbas #thirteencovens

#thirteencovens
Back in the old days, when a witch deserted his coven, the coven sought revenge. Jacob Mallory knew the stories, but he left Shadow Marbas anyway.
The saga begins.
After a disagreement between Cult of Lucifuge and Temple Apophis leaves Jacob defenseless and he discovers Marbas’ remnants of a curse, he seeks protection from Lucifer’s Haven. Shadow Marbas, however, won’t be denied. Either Jacob is theirs, or he dies. There is no in-between.

Castles!!! #throwbackthursday
Everyone loves pictures of castles!
15 years ago, my husband and I did a touristy trip to Southern England. I don’t have a proper scanner for our photos, but with the wonders of modern technology (aka my phone), I took pictures of our pictures and turned them into a photo gallery to share with my readers. This is probably why they’re blurry and there are some shiny bits and strange tricks of light in the pictures. Sorry about that. It was a fun trip and we spent a lot of time touring castles,...

Summer Lull #amediting #amwriting
I’m slowly getting back into the swing of my writing life after surgery. Back in May, during a routine exam, the doctors discovered a large mass growing in my abdomen. It had probably been growing in there the better part of four years. I was immediately referred to an oncologist who quickly determined he was 90% sure it wasn’t cancer. I will tell you this – when you’re referred to an oncologist for anything, and there’s even a slight 10% chance thatit’s cancer – writing no longer becomes imp...

Where Does Your Creativity Come From?
This past weekend my husband and I went to visit a friend of ours who is terminally ill. We were sitting on the back porch talking and drinking soda when our friend turned to me and asked out of the blue, “Where does your creativity come from?”
Admittedly at first I thought it was an existential question, as I imagine when you’re sitting on death’s doorstep (or walking down his street) you do contemplate questions like this. At the same time, it’s not the first time I’ve been asked a variatio...

Creative Vision vs. Skill

There’s nothing like reading to make you realize a few things.
What’s good is subjective to individual readers. This means that you are simultaneously a creative genius and master of prose, and a complete hack who has no business being published. (i.e. some readers will hate you, some will love you) While the mechanics of writing can be learned, passion and creative vision cannot. The latter is also subjective to eac...The Writing Life #amwriting
During a conversationwith ayoung author earlier this week, I was asked ifI still get that “butterflies in the stomach” feeling with each book.
You mean that apprehension and anxiety that happens just after a book’s release as I wait for reviewers and readers to praise or slam it? Yes. I’ll admit to that. I prefer to label it “anxiety” as opposed to “butterflies in the stomach” though.
My young protege alsoseemed rather surprised when I admitted that, after twenty-five years, over one-hundred...

Pruning the Roses!! #Hausandgarten
I didn’t get a chance to do much in the way of gardening this spring. First, every weekend for awhile there brought rain, and then I ended up having surgery requiring almost one month recovery time. Now that that’s over with, I have finally been able to wander through my garden and do some of the inevitable to-do’s. I discovered the hops have gone somewhat feral this year, the strawberries came back, the lettuce re-seeded, and I’m growing an onion in a big pot. My rose bush went wild on me....
