Thirteen Covens Audiobooks! #thirteencovens #audible
I’ve made it no secret that the audio books for Thirteen Covens are rolling out slowly. There are four already done with more on the way later this year! Since the Thirteen Covens are first being rolled out as individual novellas, I decided to run the audiobooks the same way, even though in the end, all the novellas will be rolled into one huge paperback and there will be an ebook boxed set. A lot of OTS fans turned Thirteen Covens fans didn’t want to wait for me to write all the stories bef...

Biggest Writing Regret – #amwriting #writingadvice
I was talking to a fellow writer earlier today about what a long journey it can be to publication, and how we have to keep going even when things get tough, and it feels like building an audience for your work is impossible. Especially for indies and small press authors who have very little to no publisher marketing support. This led to a discussion of our biggest writing regrets. I want to share my biggest writing regret with the writers out there who may be reading this because I would hate...

Preliminary Work + Research + Scheduling – #domagick
I decided to go ahead and join the next #domagick challenge. Because I’ve been working hard toward the Sorath work, I figured #domagick would help me hold myself accountable to that work. While I already have a daily magickal/spiritual practice (they go hand-in-hand for me), and it’s not really a stretch for me to add additional magickal work, let alone actionable follow-through, I still enjoy the extra motivation. Plus, reader response to the last challenge suggested that my work inspired re...

Author Interview: Josh Matthews #hellgate #horror
What genre(s) do you write and why? I’ve written mostly in horror because it gives me the freedom to do what I want. When you write in other genres, such as crime or mysteries, you have to adhere to certain rules and conventions. With horror there are no limitations. My favorite part is creating unique monsters and settings, allowing me to let my imagination run wild. However, I’m trying something new with my latest manuscript, which is a dark political thriller about the Pentagon using scie...

Being Fearless and The Masks We Wear #befearless #writing #identity

I’ve been contemplating my #domagick post last month where I talked about being fearless and writing without fear. Intrepid writing I called it. Not only have I been actively working toward writing without fear, but it’s made me aware of just how much fear the average person carries, especially in this age of social media.
Many people wear carefully crafted masks to ke...

New Release – The Watch #thirteencovens #thriller #occult
THE WATCH (Fourteen Tales of Thirteen Covens Book 5)
The Watchers are always watching.
After Magister Thaddeus Blackwood of Temple of the Magi boasts of necromancy and spirit traps, Neal and Aaron, leaders of The Watch, have no choice but to investigate. They are the Chroniclers of the Thirteen, and the ones who will herald in the coming of The One.
Their investigation, however, uncovers far more than they bargained for, revealing a sinister plot that could throw Thirteen Covens into chaos.

What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
My favorite thing about writing is the creativity. I very much enjoy creating new world, new characters and plots. Then as I am writing the story, I very much enjoy the meandering course the plots takes. I never stay hard and fast to a single plot line. I do have an overall plot for a story, but the course of my sub-plots shift and change as my characters / locations and their interactions mature.
What do you feel your boo...

When Magick Doesn’t Work #magick #Daemonolatry
Sometimes, despite our best efforts and intentions, magick doesn’t work in a situation. Especially situations where you’re influencing other people. Even seasoned magicians have this problem at times (though most likely won’t admit it). I’ve learned over the years how to tell if the magick I’m considering is going to work or not, and I pick and choose my magickal battles carefully. You should, too.
One of the big failing points in magick is the realm of doing money and love magick for other p...

Review: Writers of the Future #33 #bookreview
I am a bit biased. I have friends whose work appears in this anthology. However, if I didn’t like it, I would have simply not reviewed it at all. The Writers of the Future anthologies always have a wide variety of stories by talented new voices in the fantasy and sci-fi genres. This one is no exception. Wonderful authors, great stories. I was impressed to find a fantastic ghost story in this one, Acquisition by Jake Marley. It was probably one of my favorites in the entire book. I also enjoy...

Consistency & Stability #magick #adulting101 #amwriting
As with all things in life, consistency is one of the main ingredients to success. You have to show up, do the work, and do it with consistency. Far too often I meet magicians who want a quick fix (usually magickal success in any endeavor), or skills, or even a following or readership (for the occult authors out there) with none of the work. I meet writers who want to write one book and expect to sell tens of thousands of copies the second it’s published. This is not how anything in life work...
