A Week Off #amwriting #blogging
So one of the fabulous things about #DoMagick, is that it forces me to blog every day. That’s a good exercise in and of itself despite the fact that it takes time to blog. On the downside, I ended up needing a bit of a break. So I took about a week off from blogging. The good news is I was able to get my ducks in a row.
By ducks I mean,
Went to Comic Con (A huge success in that I met a lot of readers, and the OTS series, as well as the horror anthologies, got a lot of exposure. I grew my ema...June 30, 2017
Day 30: Not So Grande Finale #DoMagick
So yeah – this is it. And for the rest of the summer you won’t have to read my daily magick blog. Perhaps my monthly blogs will be more substantive.
On the upside I feel things finally moving again. This is just the beginning though as the real work is coming.
Today I woke up, opened the temple, had my coffee, went to work, took a co-worker out for a birthday beer (she bought me one last week) and then went to see my cousin in the hospital. Now I’m home and a bit tired and it’s probably time...

Day 29: Dealing With Anxiety #DoMagick
So obviously, you can tell from reading past posts that I’ve been dealing with some anxiety here. A lot of it social anxiety. In one of my business groups on FB today, I shared my social anxiety with the group. The leader of the group, a fellow magician, reminded me that it was okay to use magick to help me deal with my anxiety. He suggested that I create a sigil for good sales at the convention, and feed it all my anxiety. I laughed because I was like, “Why didn’t I think of that?” But aga...

Day 28: Yes – This Shit Burns #DoMagick
So I’m beginning to think this particular model configuration is drawing a lot of extra obligations into the mix. But instead of an immediate reconfiguration, I’m going to work through this. Sorath is shining a light on bigger issues. Personal issues that likely need to be addressed before I can move forward. Ignoring them could be a bad mistake. What I’m slowly discovering is that some people in my life still aren’t supportive of my writing time. That was mind blowing, and disappointing....

Day 27: Gear Shift #DoMagick
Today was just a wild crazy day. Payroll at the office. Family emergency. Comic Con preparation.
Mentally fried with constant conversation/interuption/jibber-jabber. UGH I need a quiet hidey hole somewhere.
So that’s how my day/night went.

Day 26: Happy Hatching #DoMagick
Today is my birthday. I always tell family and friends that it’s not really a big deal, that it’s just another fucking day. Some years I enjoy the yearly tradition of my husband taking me out to eat, other years I don’t really care one way or the other. This year I’m looking forward to dinner out. I’m not a party person or a gift person. I figure once someone is over the age of 20 – birthdays aren’t a big deal anymore and don’t require all that fanfare. Spend the day with your closest friend(...

Day 25: Classes and Teaching #DoMagick
Today was the day I immersed myself in Daemonolatry and Magick, like I do almost every Sunday. I did my normal temple routine, worked with my Sorath model for about fifteen minutes, taught two classes (cancelled the third due to lack of attendees), and did a handful of readings. I also had a chance to talk with a friend about collaboration on an article. Did more Comic Con organization and packing. Waiting for more books to arrive Tuesday. Load in is Thursday. That’s the easy part. The hard...

Day 24: Snails #DoMagick
Haha! Snails may move slow, they they still often make it to where they want to go. Just plodding along. Seriously – nothing new. All I can do at this point is my daily work and work. Spent the day answering email, chatting with editors and collaborators on projects. Working out schedules and organizing for Comic Con. Not much else to tell. Can’t wait until the daily blogging is over. When you have nothing new to add – the daily blogging becomes old, quick.
Today’s Lanormand Card: Tree – Be p...
Guest Post: L. Bachman Interview
What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
The most satisfying part is when someone reads and enjoys my work. I love hearing that something I’ve spent a large part of my life working on ends up satisfying and entertaining someone.
What genre(s) do you write and why?
Dark fantasy and horror, I never meant to write in these genres, it just happened what I was writing fell into these categories.
What was the most difficult part of writing your most recent book...

Day 23: Breathe #DoMagick
Busy day at the office. Normal ritual work done.
Today I decided to pull a Lenormand card. A friend of mine told me about them so I bought a deck and I’m slowly getting used to them. When I was younger, a friend of mine learned to read regular playing cards via her grandmother, and passed some of that knowledge onto me. So when I got these cards I assumed (wrongly) that this was similar, but it’s different. Surprisingly, I’ve found the cards to be accurate and interesting.
I got Letter: Sugge...
