Elgin Award nomination
I am honored and entirely delighted that The Sign of the Dragon has been nominated for the 2021 Elgin Award :-) :-) :-)
N.B. The Sign of the Dragon is my epic fantasy, told in poetry, with Asian + Mongolian + Celtic elements.

Bookstore poem
Since it's about a (fantastical) bookstore, I thought I'd post a link to my poem
Mythic Book Emporium
just published in DreamForge Anvil #2.

Award nominations
Hmmm. I see it's been a while since I wrote a blog post. This area is looking distinctly dusty, much like my house.... I'm very happy to report several award nominations.
My poem How to Go Twelfth is a finalist for the AnLab Readers' Award.
Plus I have several poems nominated for this year's Rhysling Award. (The full list of nominees is here.)

One hundred stories
Writing milestone. I've had 100 short stories published!
I just realized that my short-short "Red" appeared in the NewMyths.com anthology, Twilight Worlds: The Best of NewMyths Anthology Volume II, which would have been story #99.
This makes "Just Desserts," published in Daily Science Fiction on 12/18/2020, my 100th published story :-)

Daily Science Fiction
My short story Just Desserts has appeared in Daily Science Fiction, my eighth story to appear there. It features aliens, the settling of the solar system, and the very important matter of dessert.

Second Pushcart nomination
!! I received a second Pushcart Prize nomination, this time for my poem "After Zhuangzi" (Eye to the Telescope #38, October 2020). So it is officially and unequivocally a Good Day on the writing front.

Poems in F&SF
I'm very happy to report that my poem "Mended" is in the November/December 2020 issue of F&SF :-)
Also, looking back through the blog, I see that I failed to mention that I've had two other poems in F&SF this year: "First Contact" in the May/June issue and "A Quartet of Alphabetic Bubbles" in the July/August 2020 issue.

C'monfluence
Very soon, October 2 - October 4, 2020, I'll be participating in C'monfluence, a virtual version of Pittsburgh's Confluence convention. The guest of honor is Martha Wells, and the supporting cast of guests includes far-flung authors who wouldn't normally travel to Pittsburgh. Happily, Zoom and Discord make travel plans simple. I'll be giving a reading, plus I'm scheduled to be on four panels, and I'm doing a Kaffeeklatsch with Kelly Robson. The convention is free, though donations are welcomed.
Important note: you have to register for every panel, every reading, every Kaffeeklatsch that you wish to attend. Here are three links.
Pre-register for C'monfluence.
Sign up for my reading, 2:30 pm, EST, Sunday October 4.
Sign up for the Kaffeeklatsch with myself and Kelly Robson, 10 am, EST, Sunday October 4.
