The Veils Play LA One Night Only

The Veils

Playing Los Angeles One Night Only, August 8th!

8/8: Los Angeles, CA @ The Troubadour

Frontman Finn Andrews posseses Nick Cave-like charisma, and the London five-piece has an impeccable sense of timing.” - SPIN

"Andrews' raw, expressive vocals unify each of the album's 10 tracks."
- Washington Post

The Veils released their highly anticipated fourth album, Time Stays, We Go , earlier this year to critical acclaim from the likes of Entertainment Weekly , MAGNET & KEXP ! Their first release in four years, the album was produced by lead singer/songwriter Finn Andrews and Adam Greenspan (Divine Fits, Arcade Fire) and mixed to tape by seminal English producer Bill Price (The Clash, Jesus & Mary Chain), whom the band tempted out of retirement to work on the record.

Fresh from a string sold-out shows in New Zealand, The Veils will play a one-off US show at Los Angeles’ The Troubadour on August 8th! The show follows the band’s hugely successful North American tour this spring, and will give local fans another chance to catch their captivating live show!

Time Stays, We Go single “Through The Deep, Dark Wood” opens the album with a driving rhythm and palpable electric energy. “Dancing With The Tornado” is an upbeat, energetic cut that showcases Finn’s raw, dynamic vocals twisting and turning above driving percussion and dancing guitar lines. “Turn From The Rain” is full of bright, lively instrumentation that plays up the song’s message of hope and perseverance. Album closer “Out From The Valley & Into The Stars” is a heartbreakingly stunning ballad that builds to an explosive climax, leaving listeners wanting more.

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin Announces Fall Tour

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin Announces Fall Tour   Fourth Album Fly By Wire Out September 17 on Polyvinyl     Stream/Embed New Single 'Harrison Ford' at SPIN or Soundcloud

"While the trio have spent over a decade honing their blend of '90s power-pop and '60s-inspired harmonies, this latest feels especially vibrant....overflowing with a teen-y angst and indecision that still feels utterly raw. Maybe they should fly 5,000 miles across the world for every record." - Consequence of Sound

Missouri-based indie-pop trio Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin has released new single, ' Harrison Ford ,' with SPIN. The lead track off their forthcoming album, Fly By Wire , out September 17th on Polyvinyl, it follows first single ' Nightwater Girlfriend ,' and the album will be available on CD/Digital, 180-gram coke bottle clear vinyl with a gatefold jacket and collage-style pull-out poster, a special limited edition red/white vinyl exclusively for mail-order, and red cassette tape. Pre-order link is here. The band is also pleased to announce a fall tour that will kick off in Columbia, MO in October and take them to the east coast. They will follow this run with a tour throughout the western half of the US in November.

For this new album, the members of SSLYBY returned to the attic where they made their debut full-length Broom , but first they took a 5000 mile detour. After the Boris Yeltsin Foundation in Yekaterinburg, Russia extended an invitation to the band, Phil Dickey, Will Knauer, and Jonathan Jamesspent a whirlwind six days in their namesake's home country this past January: meeting with Yeltsin's close friends and personal translator (who gifted them seven bottles of expensive Russian vodka) and performing at an elementary school after the U.S. consulate named them cultural ambassadors for a day. The trip concluded with a set at Old Nu Rock, making SSLYBY the first American group to play at Russia's largest winter rock festival.  The band is releasing a documentary about their life-changing trip this summer, called Discussions With Russians . Watch the trailer here.

Norway's Susanna and Ensemble neoN to Release The Forester

NORWAY'S SUSANNA AND ENSEMBLE NEON TO RELEASE THE FORESTERSEPTEMBER 17TH ON SUSANNASONATA
PREVIEW THE FORESTER  One year following the release of  Wild Dog (Rune Grammofon), Norwegian songstress Susanna returns with a new album to be released on her own label, SusannaSonata, on September 17, 2013. Active for more than a decade through eight albums released under the names Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, Susanna, and Susanna Wallumrød, the Oslo based artist has recently been taking great steps towards more independence and autonomy, while increasing the range of her considerable talents as a songwriter, vocal interpreter and producer. She's known for both her own songwriting and her huge range of highly personal interpretations of other people's songs, including Dolly Parton, Leonard Cohen, Prince, Joy Division, Scott Walker, KISS, amongst others. She is an intensely arresting performer, holding audiences captive with her hypnotizing vocal timbre and the powerful, all consuming sound of her band.
Susanna's first new, full-length release on her own label, The Forester , is a co-production with the Norwegian contemporary music group, Ensemble neoN. It combines the antique notes of the Baroque theorbo, woodwinds and strings, and Susanna's sparse piano, and features Susanna's strongest songwriting to date.
Picking from new tracks and several already released songs by Susanna, composers Julian Skar and Jan Martin Smørdalmade new arrangements suited to the eight-piece Ensemble neoN, and extended the title track into a fifteen-minute, three-part suite in which dark woods shroud a wanderer in a symbolic landscape of searching and loss. Being lost or deliberately straying from the chosen path are recurring themes on The Forester, whose subject matter ranges from disturbing natural environments to alien visitors, painted on an eerily exquisite canvas that recalls Mark Hollis, Tim Buckley, Kate Bush and Claude Debussy while remaining uniquely Susanna's soundworld. Recorded entirely live in one single, emotionally intense day at Oslo's legendary Rainbow Studio, produced by Deathprod and Susanna and engineered by Jan Erik Kongshaug, The Forestercaptures Susanna's composition and all the nuances of her distinctive voice in neoN's deceptively simple chamber-folk tapestry.

The Forester Tracklisting:1. The Forester I, II & III2. Hangout3. Oh, I Am Stuck4. Intruder5. Lonely Heart
"Who knew starkly profound morbidity could sound so gorgeous?" - Pitchfork
"[Susanna's] simplicity can be considered studied. In a way, the song isn't even a showcase for lyrics as much as it is the timbres of the human voice, and the minute sonic space between the harmonies." - Ad Hoc
"limpid-voiced, open-hearted, musically idiosyncratic and touched with mystery." - The New York Times
"Beautiful, spare, hypnotic." - MOJO
"Wallumrød sings with dazzling clarity and exquisite patience, shaping melodies with care and sensitivity and tightly controlling her emotional engagement with the material. . . " - Chicago Reader

THE JIM JONES REVUE'S 'THE SAVAGE HEART' ALBUM

THE JIM JONES REVUE'THE SAVAGE HEART' NEW ALBUM RELEASED IN NORTH AMERICA TODAYTHROUGH PUNK ROCK BLUES RECORDS CHECK OUT 'WHERE DA MONEY GO?' ON ROLLINGSTONE.COM BAND TO PLAY BOWERY ELECTRIC IN NYC ON NEW YEAR'S EVE(MORE DATES FORTHCOMING)   Photo: Steve Gullick
The Jim Jones Revue release their eagerly anticipated third studio album The Savage Heart in the US and Canada today, through Punk Rock Blues Records (distributed by Redeye).  The Savage Heart was produced by Jim Sclavunos (of Grinderman / Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), mixed by Jim Abiss (Arctic Monkeys, DJ Shadow, The Heavy), with spiritual guidance from the legendary Nick Lowe.    Their most exhilarating work to date, The Savage Heartexpands the sonic remit of The Jim Jones Revue beyond their renowned brand of manic rock ’n’ roll to explore a virtual “heart of darkness” of new musical territory in the form of tribal stomps, field hollers, a capella rave-ups -- even a fuzzed-out feedback-laden doo-wop ballad! The Savage Heartswaggers with all the balls-out rocking of its predecessors, but offers too an expansive vision of the band, with a wider palette of sounds and even socially conscious lyrics. “While the group look back into the roots of rock n’ roll, we’ve never gone backwards in what we do,” says Jim Jones. “It’s always about pushing things forward for us.”   Contributing mightily to the vigorous sound captured on The Savage Heart is Henri Herberton keyboards. Henri, who joined the band in 2011, has diversified the band’s keyboard vocabulary, drawing not just on the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard but Otis Spann, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons as well. “He’s the Professor of Piano,” affirms Rupert Orton (guitar). “His wealth of knowledge is astounding. He’s really re-shaped our approach.”     Notorious for their maniacal high-energy shows, The Jim Jones Revue have been described by MOJO as “the greatest rock n’ roll band in the world right now”. Stay tuned for live shows in the US and Canada later this year.
WATCH THE TRAILER FOR 'THE SAVAGE HEART' HERE
"The Savage Heart revels in the dark thrills of dark, bawdy rock 'n' roll....(his Revue's) sultry, sinister shuffle is already hard to resist." MOJO
At times, it indeed sounds like these songs are coming from a mythical parallel universe where rock’n’roll is still the key of life. Jones never deviates from his mission to re-energise the form....drenches it in feedback and sets the thing aflame." The Guardian
"London's rock 'n' roll true believers serve up their best work yet." Q

Washed Out: "Don't Give Up" (Official Video)

Watch Washed Out's "Don't Give Up"
The New Video From Paracosm

http://youtu.be/9rbRwV0T0AQ
Washed Out has premiered the official video for "Don’t Give Up," the stunningly shot clip from his forthcoming album Paracosm. Directed by acclaimed designer Kate Moross and filmed at London Zoo, "Don't Give Up" captures the vibrant and exquisite nature of the animal kingdom. Combining close-up photography with a variety of intense colours, Moross shows nature’s intricate and hypnotic beauty alongside Greene’s equally enchanting single. Here, Greene takes the production style of his own critically-acclaimed past releases and shapes it into the most affecting and immediate Washed Out pop moment to date. Watch it now http://youtu.be/9rbRwV0T0AQ .   Washed Out’s previously announced month-long, late summer tour in support of Paracosmbegins August 24th in Monterey, CA at First City Festival and runs through September 24th in Athens, GA at The Georgia Theatre.  Please find updated tour dates below.   Paracosm will be available for release August 13th in North America via Sub Pop.   More on Washed Out’s Paracosm: The music recorded by Ernest Greene as Washed Out has been nothing if not dreamy, but for his second full-length, he’s taken the idea of letting your mind wander to another state a huge leap further. On Paracosm, the Georgia-based musician explores the album’s namesake phenomenon, where people create detailed imaginary worlds. The concept has been used to describe fantasy lands like Tolkien’s Middle Earth and C.S. Lewis’ Narnia, and it’s at the heart of the 2004 documentary In the Realms of the Unreal about outsider artist Henry Darger (read more at Sub Pop).   Tour Dates: Aug. 24 - Monterey, CA - First City Festival Aug. 25 - Los Angeles, CA - FYF Festival Aug. 31 - Seattle, WA - Bumbershoot Sep. 02 - Victoria, BC - 9ONE9 Sep. 03 - Vancouver, BC - Fortune Sound Club Sep. 05 - Eugene, OR - WOW Hall Sep. 06 - Portland, OR - MusicfestNW / Mississippi Studios Sep. 08 - Sacramento, CA - Launch Music Festival Sep. 10 - Boulder, CO - Fox Theatre Sep. 12 - Minneapolis, MN - First Avenue Sep. 13 - Chicago, IL - Metro Sep. 14 - Detroit, MI - Laneway Festival Detroit Sep. 15 - Toronto, ON - Opera House Sep. 16 - Montreal, QC - Corona Theatre Sep. 18 - New York, NY - Terminal 5 Sep. 19 - Philadelphia, PA - Union Transfer Sep. 20 - Boston, MA - Wilbur Theatre Sep. 23 - Carrboro, NC - Cat’s Cradle Sep. 24 - Athens, GA - Georgia Theatre Buy tickets via www.washedout.net
