Tearjerker's Hiding EP out now on SQE
Tearjerker's Hiding EP Out Now On SQENPR Premieres "You Can" Video
"The band seems to know they've designed a lethally powerful hook, so they reinforce it with keyboards and a guitar, pumping it full of air until it takes to the sky, a great big orange blimp floating overhead. " - Pitchfork "Fuzzed-out euphoric track with subtle elements of shoegaze mixed in." - My Old Kentucky Blog Watch: "You Can" via NPR or YouTubeListen: "Another Moon" via Nylon or SoundCloud
Toronto-based band Tearjerker's new EP Hiding is out now SQE. NPR's First Watch premiered the video for "Your Can" from Hiding. The video was directed by Gökçe Erdem and is comprised entirely of found footage. Tearjerker's Micah Bonte says "In my opinion the visuals fit perfect because the song is about appreciating the present time and making the most of it because as the song says 'you can't bring it back but you can make it last.'" Hiding is available now on vinyl in the SQE online storeand digitally thru iTunes. Last month, Nylon premiered "Another Moon" from the EP. Nylon said, "With blissed-out melodies and plenty of feedback loops, the song feels like a dreamy chant--totally authentic and exactly the thing you'd want playing on repeat for a full moon celebration or a chill car ride up the PCH." Earlier this spring, Pitchfork premiered "You Can" and said, "It's all peak, the blissful climax of an Explosions In The Sky song snagged in a processor and repeating." Tearjerker was born from the shared mindset that allowed for each member to play an equal part in the creative process. Since 2009, the band has released two albums, an EP, a few remix projects, and a handful of singles, completely independently. Everything, from the writing, recording, production and album artwork has come from the three of them. Tearjerker has even released special edition cassettes of their albums with handmade packaging, lending a personal, tangible feel to each offering.
The band's first release on SQE is a four-song EP called Hiding. The gauzy, surging, shoegazy indie rock songs were written and recorded in the musicians' homes in Toronto. Much of the music was recorded separately, in solitary circumstances, and then brought together to create the sprawling, layered melodies. Throughout the EP, lead vocalist / guitarist Micah Bonte's lyrics find emotional grounding in the music itself. Hiding also offers a preview of what's to come on the band's next full-length, which they are presently writing to release later in 2014. Tearjerker, in its current form, operates on instinct and sincerity. They're less concerned with selling singles than they are with being a prolific group that consistently unveils interesting new music. And it's important to them that each piece of that music exists in the world in palpable form. "We take pride in making a really cool product that we can hold," Tearjerker drummer Trevor Hawkins says. "It's exciting for us as much as it is for anybody who is a fan."

SAINT AGNES - 'Old Bone Rattle' Single Launch
PSYCH DUO SAINT AGNES PLAY THE SEBRIGHT ARMS ON 10TH JUNE TO CELEBRATE THE RELEASE OF 'OLD BONE RATTLE'
Cinematic psych duo Saint Agnes are set to release their brand new single Old Bone Rattle on June 10th through London based Energy Snake Records (home of Vuvuvultures) and play Hackney's The Sebright Arms to celebrate the occasion.
Raw, bold and sultry, the title track showcases the band’s trademark Ennio Morricone rock n’ roll style, trippy Western inspired psychedelic-rock in its purest form. The B-side sees the pair - Jon Tufnell of The Lost Souls Club and Lola Colt’s Kitty Austen - duet on a cover of The Doors’ Roadhouse Blues.
Jon and Kitty met at a gig whilst playing in their respective bands and quickly bonded over their mutual love of Nick Cave and Jack White. In Kitty’s East London flat they experimented with ghostly guitar reverb, swirling Hammond organ and dirty blues harmonica, the result is brooding psycha-western no-nonsense rock n’ roll at its best; think Black Rebel Motorcycle Club with Ray Manzarek on keys and Kills-esque dual vocals.Let us know if you would like to come down and review it or simply to attend and we will sort out guestlist!

TEDDYBEARS deliver “SUNSHINE” & a lazer crotch video
THE SWEDES ARE BACK!TEDDYBEARS DELIVER “SUNSHINE” VIDEO
(AND A LAZER CROTCH)
… JUST IN TIME FOR SUMMER!
LINK: http://po.st/sunshinevideoBUY: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sunshine-single/id877918289
“…a video that made me audibly say ‘what the fuck’ when I first watched.…We don't know what else to say. Just stop reading and watch.” – Vice’s Noisey
[image error]
Teddybears return with a psychedelic summer jam, "Sunshine" (out now via Big Beat Records) whichhighlights their signature—pop x electronica x rock n’ roll x hip-hop x reggae x punk—and arrives with a video to accompany that shares an outrageous mix of themes and color schemes.
Featuring Jamaican dancehall star Natalie Storm and Swedish musician Kee Marcello (hailing from mega-bands Europe and Hellacopters); smashing a drum-kit made of ice, this playful video, combined with equal parts electric guitar, gold lamé, and neon illustrations is simply fun to watch – and definitely not like anything else you’ll see all day.**
**IMO... the super-powered, shining jewel-covered, female undergarment that transforms - by way of a lazer crotch - every man in her sight into one of the very own ‘teddybears’ takes the cake!

Washed Out: "Weightless" Video + Updated Tour Dates

Washed Out has premiered a new long-form video for “Weightless,” the latest offering from his acclaimed album, Paracosm. Directed by David Altobelli (M83, Sia, Conor Oberst), the mini film, presents a "gorgeous tale" of unrequited love with dreamlike sequences throughout. Altobelli says of the video, "Unrequited love is a universal emotion. In this case, the emotions are heightened because there exists yet another wall between the protagonist and the object of his affection. It's heartbreaking and inevitable, but it's also just part of being a kid in love(see Pitchfork News Story June 4th)."Washed Out has added August and September to his 2014 tour schedule in support of Paracosm. The tour now spans June 4th in Richmond, VA at The National and currently ends on September 14th in Tampa, FL at The Ritz Ybor. Tickets for the August and September dates go on sale Friday, June 6th at 10a.m. ET.Festival highlights for the tour include: June 6th in New York, NY at The Governors Ball; June 8th in Toronto, ON at Field Trip; June 15th in Manchester, TN at Bonnaroo Music Festival; June 20th in Dufur, OR for WTF?! What The Festival; June 22nd in Dover, DE at Firefly Music Festival; August 29th in Chicago, IL at North Coast Music Festival; and September 6th in St. Louis, MO for Lou Fest. Please find a complete list of tour dates below.Washed Out’s Paracosm is available now on CD / LP / DL in North America via Sub Pop and Europe via Weird Word. What critics are saying about Paracosm:
“It’s a realm of leisurely melodies and keyboard chords that wash in and drift away, of calm vocal harmonies and burbling electronics, of lavishly blended acoustic and electronic instruments and echoes of reassuring pop from past eras...Paracosm sounds warmer, more enveloping; precisely because it’s so much more spacious, it’s cozier.” [Playlist] - N ew York Times “A sun-dappled, intricately layered, indie pop beauty.” [#2 / “Must List”] - Entertainment Weekly "Greene's meticulous creations are still slow-rolling and thickly layered, but this time he and returning Animal Collective producer Ben Allen slather on less futuristic sounds: Mellotron, bongos, children laughing. Harplike arpeggios herald the beginning of the title track like the launch of a Technicolor reverie..." [Review, 3.5/5 Stars] - Rolling Stone “Paracosm is a beautiful, beautiful album.” [Review, 88%] - FILTER Tour Dates

On the 12th and 13th September Reverence Festival celebrates the best in psych, stoner, shoegaze, doom, prog, garage and beyond, with some sixty bands playing over two days on four stages, including the hugely influential spacerock titans Hawkwind - performing in Portugal for the very first time. The resurgence of far out, heavy rock-based music and a booming live music network across Europe has given rise to huge demand, with Reverence already causing a stir online amongst fans bustling with anticipation and excitement.Reverence offers the chance for like-minded heads from across the world to congregate at one of the biggest and most ambitious events of its kind, one that features a unique line-up of revered titans and rising talent. The heady, hazy and tripped-out sounds will make for the perfect outdoors summer soundtrack to the balmy and picturesque setting of Valada. When the sun sets, kaleidoscopic lights and psychedelic visuals will adorn the stages, adding an aesthetic accompaniment to the mind-expanding aural delights, which will run all night.Blazing a trail from the 60s right through to today with unparalleled status, Hawkwind are spiritual and sonic godfathers, whose influence has permeated through hundreds of bands over five decades, not least many of those sharing the bill at Reverence. Formed in 1969, their trademark single ‘Silver Machine’ was a huge hit that brought the band to the attention of the wider public, with albums like ‘Warrior On The Edge Of Time’ and ‘Masters Of The Universe’ lauded as classics.Joining them at the top of the bill and bringing their own brand of heavy cerebral stoner/doom to the stage are Electric Wizard - writers of some of the most important records of the genre like ‘Come My Fanatics’, ‘Dopethrone’ and ‘Black Masses’.The bone-crushingly heavy Red Fang fit perfectly with the reverence ethos, along with ambient doom collective Crippled Black Phoenix as bands that have gained cult following for refusing to compromise – an attitude also held by Reverence itself. More talent comes from local heroes, Mao Morta, arguably one of the most important Portuguese alternative rock bands on the scene, with a career spanning back to the mid-eighties. If all that wasn’t enticing enough, Psychic TV, the respected experimental art and music group fronted by pioneer and visionary Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, will be making an appearance. Not to mention Oxford shoegazers Swervedriver who split in the late 90s only to be met with huge success when they re-emerged in 2008.Reverence’s powerful line-up is strengthened by their choice to include some of the biggest names in the current shoegaze and garage revival such as dark garage rockers The Wytches, ambient kosmische drone combo Telescopesand motorik spacerockers White Hills. Many bands that have secured positions on the prestigious line-up have highly respectable followings in their own right, in particular the MBV-style Ringo Deathstarr (who inadvertently got the festival kick-started by inspiring the partnership of Cartaxo Sessions and Club AC30), along with baggy space rockers Exit Calm, psychedelic maestros The Oscillation(featuring Fanfarlo’s drummer) and sludgers Asimov.Pitchfork’s favourite spooky campfire folk band Woods and Moon Duo, initially seen by many as a side project to co-founder Ripley Jonson’s more established outfit Wooden Shjips. However, along with co-conspirator Sanae Yamada, they’ve gone on to produce a highly acclaimed body of work, elevating them to the upper echelons of the new psychedelia movement.Process of Guilt bring their own brand of doom music from nearby Evora and Italian collective Sonic Jesus showcase their distinctive hypnotic sounds, drenched in sixties inspired psychedelia and shoegaze nuance. Continuing on the psych path, Bardo Pond, currently signed to London-based label Fire Records, and fellow Americans Sleepy Sun who released their 4th studio album 'Maui Tears' on Dine Alone Records back in January are also confirmed. Chicago drone-lovers Cave and acid-folk singer songwriter Wooden Wand will also be making an appearance, with The Feeling of Love bringing their dreamy shoe-gaze from Strasbourg and Daughters of The Sun making the journey from Minneapolis. Black Leather and One of These Days & Thee Heavy Random Tone Colour Lab are also confirmed. The latest additions to the line up include Brooklyn shoegaze pysch band A Place to Bury Strangers, The Black Angels's guitarist Christian Bland & the Revelators playing for the first time in Europe and Austins Holy Wave. Portuguese acts Dreamweapon and 10000 Russos, Berlin's Francois Sky and DJ's Nuno Calado andTiago Castro complete the lost of acts just announced.Aiming to capture the spirit of early, pre-branded and pre-corporate events, Reverence harks back to the golden age of free spirited festivals, where the music comes first. The choice of said music makes it abundantly clear that Reverence is a festival with integrity, that isn’t a box-ticking exercise where bands from every genre are booked in a ‘throw it all against the wall and see what sticks’ approach, but a labour of love. The festival features a variety of cult bands that have been bought together not purely for profit, but because a group of promoters wanted to bring something to Valada for the fans. They’re pulling together what they see as the best bands from all over the world, because it’s what the fans want to see and, being fans themselves, what they want to see themselves. The event takes place in the relaxed surroundings of Parque de Merendas, which runs along the banks of the Tejo river and includes a fluvial beach, picnic areas and coffee shops. Traditional Portuguese food and drinks including vegan and vegetarian will be available, as well as camping facilities adjacent to the festival site with toilets and showers.Valada is a small picturesque village, famous for agriculture and wine production. Located approximately 60kms inland from Lisbon and 550km from Madrid, easily accessible via train from Lisbon where shuttle buses will be running from nearest station Reguengo to the festival site.
