Today Duran Duran announce the release of an exciting new live concert film, Secret Oktober , available exclusively on StagePlayer+ starting Friday, October 25, just in time for Halloween 2024.
Secret Oktober presents the origin story of Duran Duran’s latest studio album, Danse Macabre . The concert film was recorded at the Encore Theatre at Wynn, Las Vegas, October 31, 2022. Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor, in full costume, took to the stage complete with 20-foot high skeletons, tombstones, cobwebs, coffins and ghouls, for a unique, themed set. The ultimate Halloween party ensued.
The concert film includes a parade of rarities and special covers - Duran Duran’s first live performance of ‘Secret Oktober’ since 2011, their first of ‘Love Voodoo’ since 2017, and first of ‘Nightboat’ since 2005. Covers of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ ‘Spellbound’, Cerrone’s ‘Supernature’ and The Specials’ ‘Ghost Town’ were also debuted in what has gone down in Duran Duran history as a Halloween show for the ages. The band and their audience had so much fun that they decided to put the set down in the studio, creating a worldwide annual Halloween event for all of the band’s fans to enjoy, immortalized in their latest album Danse Macabre .

The Secret Oktober film is directed by award-winning filmmaker Gavin Elder, who has worked and collaborated with Duran Duran for over 20 years, most recently on the band’s globally released docu-concert film, A Hollywood High .
Speaking about the Secret Oktober concert film, Duran Duran founding member and keyboardist Nick Rhodes said:
“October 31st, 2022 is where our strange journey into the world of Halloween began. It was dark, we didn’t have a torch and we somehow wandered down a pathway that led us to some surprising places… First was this show in Vegas, where we reimagined some of our own songs and played them alongside appropriately themed cover versions by some of our favorite artists. Our longtime collaborator Gavin Elder filmed the performance and managed to capture the spirit of the project (pun intended), with all the madness, dark humor and energy it has created.
Often spontaneous ideas turn out to be the most special. Last year we released the Danse Macabre studio album and now we continue the celebration this year by streaming the Secret Oktober film, on the days leading up to our Halloween show at Madison Square Garden.”
The Secret Oktober concert film arrives amongst a wave of celebratory activity. On October 31, 2024, Duran Duran will summon all Halloween enthusiasts to show up, dress up, and celebrate All Hallows’ Eve in style for a special live show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. To celebrate the first anniversary of the Danse Macabre album, a De Luxe version of the original is now available digitally, with CD and box set formats coming on October 25 via Tape Modern under exclusive license to BMG. The De Luxe CD and digital editions feature three new bonus tracks - an instrumental entitled ‘Masque of the Pink Death,’ a cover of ELO’s 'Evil Woman' and 'New Moon (Dark Phase)', a reimagined version of their classic song 'New Moon On Monday' from the Seven and The Ragged Tiger album, featuring Andy Taylor. The limited-edition, three LP vinyl box set, includes a bonus disc featuring seven new tracks, four of which are not available in any other format. The Halloween-inspired box also includes a spirit board, metal planchette, bespoke tarot cards, four art prints, and a booklet.
In each format, Danse Macabre - De Luxe contains the original collection of 13 songs, including haunting covers of Billie Eilish’s ‘Bury A Friend’, Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ featuring Victoria De Angelis, The Rolling Stones’ ‘Paint It Black,’ and The Specials’ ‘Ghost Town,’ plus new versions of Duran Duran classics from their own catalogue. Guest artists include producer, guitarist, and composer Nile Rodgers, Victoria De Angelis of Måneskin, and former Duran Duran band members Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurullo. Exquisitely packaged, the record features images adapted from a collection of authentic vintage séance photos that Nick Rhodes sourced at auction.
Danse Macabre will also be available in an innovative, limited-edition version KiTalbum. Duran Duran have announced an exclusive collaboration with South Korean-based media and music technology company, KiTbetter to create the Danse Macabre KiTalbum - a new format that unites the physical and digital worlds within a special mobile-based KiTplayer (available for both Android and iOS) to create a full album experience.
The Danse Macabre - De Luxe KiTalbum comes in an exclusive coffin-shaped, foiled box and includes an insert card, four exclusive photo cards in an envelope, a 22-page album booklet, a wearable button, and a customized black ball chain. The KiTalbum unlocks the experience on the KiTplayer where, in addition to the full 16 album tracks, the stunning music videos for both ‘Black Moonlight’ and ‘Danse Macabre’, the lyric videos for ‘Psycho Killer’ and ‘Evil Woman’, documentary footage about the making of the record, song lyrics and exclusive photos are featured, together with a special VIP fan hub.

This year’s single-day festival will feature headlining performances from New Order and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, alongside legendary acts The Go-Go’s, Devo, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Death Cult, Garbage, Madness, ‘Til Tuesday, She Wants Revenge, Alison Moyet, and many more!
Cruel World marks the final stop of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ North American The Wild God Tour in support of their highly-acclaimed 18th studio album Wild God. The festival also celebrates long-awaited reunions, including the assembly of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honorees The Go-Go’s and the trailblazing new wave band ‘Til Tuesday, performing for the first time in 35 years with its original members.
Fans can also look forward to the return of Death Cult (later The Cult in 1984) as frontman Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy plan to revive the band's original discography for their only confirmed California performance of the year. Additionally, Valley legends She Wants Revenge declared they will only play at Cruel World in 2025.

The smoke has cleared: Papa M has finally reappeared! Ballads of Harry Houdini is David Pajo’s latest bag of dirty tricks, revved up n’ ready for the big reveal next month. We’ll shut up (yeesh!) and get to the shredding though: “People’s Free Food Program” is here for all today.
Over a swirling bed of circus-like synth lines, Papa M constructs a shred-for-the-hills, golden-age guitarismo workout on "People's Free Food Program" — burbling with notes of R’n’B, dub reggae and rich, Corinthian leather. As guitars flow backward and forward in heavy traffic, Papa struts with a thick-necked, indie-disco feel (no gold chain), his handiwork on the mixing board ensuring that the four-on-the-floor beats will get you out on the tiles and stepping for your lives.

Merope by Tina Herbots Today Merope share a new single from their forthcoming album ‘Vėjula’ , which is set for release on November 5th via STROOM.
Following previously shared tracks “Aglala”, “Koumu Lil” and most recently “Namopi” - a collaboration with Laraaji and Shahzad Ismaily - today they share the fragile beauty of new single "Lopšinė". Featuring guitar contributions from world renowned Jazz guitarist, Bill Frisell, the track is based on an old Lithuanian lullaby, and Frisell's animated riffs dance between Cools' lulling acoustic guitar phrases and Jurgelevičiūtė's haunting vocals.
Today, they share both the studio version of the track, and a beautiful stripped back live performance, recorded in Antwerp this summer.

There's a sense of spontaneity and playfulness hanging in the air around Merope's fifth album that's palpable from the very beginning. The duo of Lithuanian singer and kanklės player Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė and guitarist/producer Bert Cools, Merope are kissed by the winds of change on 'Vėjula', a self-styled musical rebirth that confidently fosters their ongoing narrative. It's their most experimental and open-minded full-length to date, spreading its arms to embrace collaborations with like-minded artists Shahzad Ismaily, Laraaji and Bill Frisell. And while 'Vėjula' still roots itself in Lithuanian folk forms, it sprouts out spiritedly from that point into unfamiliar landscapes, muddling ancient themes with contemporary philosophies, concepts and technologies.
Merope emerged over a decade ago in 2012, hitting their stride in 2018 when they released the nocturnal 'Naktės'. Since then, they've developed a considerable reputation for their whimsical fusion of folk and ambient music; their last album, 'Salos', released on Belgium's STROOM imprint and recorded with Vilnius-based chamber choir Juana Muzika and conductor Vaclovas Augustinas, received universal acclaim, described by Boomkat as "effortlessly enchanting" and supported by none other than Björk.
'Vėjula' moves their music forward by examining its beating heart, weaving delicate instrumental sequences and ethereal vocals into a rich tapestry of subtle synth work, evocative field recordings and enigmatic processes. Dazzlingly modest, the album strips down Merope to their essence, rediscovering the joy in creation and collaboration.
'Vėjula' is an album that reaches into the unknown without losing its tight grip on the past. Merope are in a new creative phase of their career, and they've never sounded quite so universal, or so vital.

The first official single from CHROMAKOPIA arrives on the heels of the album's announcement last week and "ST. CHROMA," the self-directed visual that Tyler released on Wednesday of last week that signaled the beginning of a new era for the multidisciplinary artist. The single also arrives on the heels of the lineup for the 10th edition of Tyler's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival being revealed this past Friday, which will feature the debut live festival performance of the album's material.
