"The Baltimore musician Katrina Ford is one of the most unsung wailers in recent indie rock history... [Dundalk Dungeon] is a shimmering piece of ’80s-style art-pop."
Stereogum

"[A] sparkling indie-pop track"

FLOOD

"Led by Ford’s powerful vocals laid over hypnotic synths, the live version of ['I'm Found'] is equally sensual and vulnerable in its electro-pop stylings."
EARMILK

"['Go Deep' is] lush, layered and easy to love for its retro-tinged pop style"
Cool Hunting

"'Peach' finds Ford operating in an operatic goth rock mode, letting loose her soaring vocals over top of rippling guitar melodies, spacious percussion, and watery synth lines. Ford’s voice holds rare cinematic power, adding a bold pop sensibility to the spikey avant-garde edges of art rock."
Under the Radar

"Retro soul with one eye looking towards the avant-garde, 'Gleaming the Cube' possesses all the best crossover qualities to grab the attention of pop and underground fans alike."
Glide

"Dark, cinematic and quietly groovy"
Brooklyn Vegan

Last month, storied singer-songwriter Katrina Ford (of Celebration and Mt Royal) shared the exciting news of her debut full length LP, H.E.A.R.T. H.E.A.R.T. - Heart Ember Abuse Resin Trend - is an album exploring boundaries. Boundaries of space and time. Boundaries, whether physical, emotional or mental boundaries. "Edges, the line, the start and the finish, There was no clearly defined beginning or ending to the making of this album,"  Ford remembers. "My work as an artist is a run on sentence. I light many fires and some I carry out the door, so to speak. Some of these songs were written years ago and some were finished this year. They all have the mark of pandemic."

Ford reaches newfound levels of vulnerability on H.E.A.R.T., evidenced by the album's third single, "World On A Wire."

While H.E.A.R.T. was inspired by musical therapy for shadow work, Ford uncovers rays of hope in the most unlikely places. "When locked in and locked down along with the whole world, I became fascinated with portals, windows and thresholds. Always wistfully looking out, seeing beauty in the wind rustling the trees and the clouds clocking despite the unfolding global tragedies. In the physical world there was a heightened awareness of entry and exits," Ford remembers. "Contrastingly my inner world became more smeared. The thin veils of meditation, astral travel and dreams mixed with waking life. I’d be working on a song one night and later that week I’d finish writing a melody in an out of body journey or in my sleep."

This album is a full-bodied expression of Katrina Ford's resilience, tenderness, and capacity for magic. Her debut full length LP, H.E.A.R.T., is due November 1st on all DSPs. Katrina Ford - "World On A Wire"Katrina has a couple of live shows coming up this year. Find tickets and more info here.

Today Hackedepicciotto (Alexander Hacke & Danielle de Picciotto) have shared a new track from their forthcoming album, The Best of hackedepicciotto (Live in Napoli), that will be released on double vinyl with an exclusive signed print, and digitally on November 1, 2024, via Mute.

The new album collates over 20 years of collaboration, experimentation and genre-defying work over two live performances recorded at Auditorium Novecento, one of the oldest recording studios in Europe. The new track to be shared, “Third From The Sun”, is a cut from their 2020 album, The Current, originally recorded in the Lancashire seaside town of Blackpool.

Listen to “Third From The Sun” HERE.

This new collection of what the duo have dubbed ‘Symphonic Drone’ is a mixture of industrial beats, electronic sounds with classical harmonies and melodies, with an added pinch of throat singing, Hurdy-gurdy and spoken word. Daniel Miller of Mute goes on to say that “their music is a genre of its own, something new and very intriguing.”

The Best of hackedepicciotto (Live in Napoli) showcases live interpretations of music from across their career. The album includes reinterpretations of tracks from all of their studio albums: Keepsakes (2023), a tender exploration of friendship and loss, The Silver Threshold (2021), their defiant reaction to the pandemic, Perseverantia (2016), which dealt with the artists’ nomadic lifestyle, Menetekel (2017), which embodies their collective despair at the state of the world, and the powerful energy of The Current (2020), recorded by the Irish Sea.

For over 20 years Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and artist, musician and filmmaker Danielle de Picciotto (co-founder of Love Parade) have been developing and evolving a symbiotic working practice together, with a deep intuition of the kind that has distinguished a rare number of creative and romantic partnerships. Think of the writers Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne, the artists Lee Miller and Man Ray or heroes of independent filmmaking, Gena Rowlands and John Cassavetes, each partnership underlined by a creative equality that allowed both artists freedom to explore and expand.

Individually, hackedepicciotto have been trailblazers from the beginning. Alexander Hacke started experimenting with cassette loops at 14 in the early ‘80s, then joined Einstürzende Neubauten to create music that would influence generations of musicians. Danielle de Picciotto, fascinated by early electronic dance music, founded the Berlin Love Parade in 1989, was the singer of one of the first crossover bands in Berlin, The Space Cowboys, and then joined forces with Gudrun Gut to create a feminine version of electronic music far ahead of its time. In 2001 Hacke and de Picciotto began collaborating, creating elaborate audio/visual multimedia performances in Berlin, before deciding to become nomads. The duo gave up their home and traveled the world, boldly defying convention and becoming a modern, musical version of Bonnie and Clyde, racing from concert to concert, and releasing albums at breakneck speed, until they were forced to lockdown in a studio during the pandemic in 2020.

The Best of hackedepicciotto (Live In Napoli) is out on double vinyl and digitally on November 1, 2024 - Pre-order the album HERE.

Arthur Ahbez rides forth with the third single from his new album, ‘Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez.’ Hear his band, The Flaming Ahbez, in all their glory as they unforgivingly manipulate your speaker magnet, birth ripples of audible air fluctuations, and retort the woes of post-modern musical sterility with the rock-and-roll ballad, "Sister."

Arthur recollects: “I remember writing "Sister" sometime around 2013. I was in my cottage, and I suddenly got a bout of moxie and wanted to sing something like Buffy Sainte-Marie would—loud, wailing, and with soul. I struck to two chords (which basically make up the whole song) and let rip. What I ended up with is ‘Sister,’ a kind of absurd song, a song about murder and jealousy, abandonment, unconditional love, and indifference.

ARTHUR AHBEZ BIO:

Combine a New Zealand-born songwriter with a goulash of 1960s music inspirations and a marijuana cigarette, slow-roast, and then compost him since 1987. The result? Distinctly tangible, folk-laden rock and roll.

In 2013, Arthur released his debut self-recorded and self-produced album Gold. A cozy mix of soft firelight folk and psychedelia, Gold quickly gained a tight-knit following of fans from all over the world. Singles "Walk On" and "The Fundamentals" rocketed their way up local radio charts and were soon after licensed for American television.

2017 saw the release of his second self-recorded effort, Volume II. Part concept album and part follow-up to GoldVolume II's songs exhibited Arthur's growth as a songwriter and his increasing mastery of a unique lo-fi sonic vision. Side A's "Painters Portrait" explored his British folk influences, while Side B reveled in his love of 60s rock and roll.

Vacillating between playful tongue-in-cheek remarks and universal truths, Arthur's songs are grown from the soil of his personal philosophy. Love, existential angst, joy, and trepidation interact behind a canvas of reverb and piercing electric guitar.

In mid-2019, Arthur began work with his band The Flaming Ahbez alongside engineer Joseph Faris at his studio in Auckland, New Zealand. This departure from home DIY recording marked a turning point in Arthur’s search for more sounds, more volume, and more energy. The new record soars to dizzying heights in the Ahbez realm and maximizes Arthur's uncanny ability to churn out distinct and vibrant songs. Arthur Ahbez & The Flaming Ahbez releases November 2024!

Maribou State Announce First North American Tour In 6 Years

MARIBOU STATE ANNOUNCE FIRST NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN SIX YEARS

NEW ALBUM HALLUCINATING LOVE OUT JANUARY 31 ON NINJA TUNE

LISTEN TO LEAD SINGLE “OTHERSIDE” FEATURING HOLLY WALKER, HERE

Today, Maribou State — the duo of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory — announce a massive North American tour, their first full band live dates on the continent in six years. The dates come after the recent announcement of their highly anticipated new album Hallucinating Love, due out January 31st 2025 on Ninja Tune. See full dates on poster below.

Tickets for Maribou State's North American tour dates are on-sale on Friday, October 25 at 10am local time. Fans can register for access to presale tickets via OpenstagePresale tickets on-sale on Wednesday, October 23.

Following "Otherside," the lead single featuring long-time collaborator and vocalist Holly Walker that KCRW deemed "triumphant in more ways than one," the next single from the record will be "Bloom," due October 23rd. Presave "Bloom" and preorder Hallucinating Love HERE.

With Hallucinating Love, Maribou State wanted to reflect the lineage of great British electronic music, from jungle and UK garage to IDM and trance, and celebrate its influence as well as their place in that history. “We’ve always been very hidden in the project, and revelled in the ambiguity and anonymity,” admits Liam. “But as we've gotten older, we've wanted to show who we are much more. And naturally it made sense to then point towards British dance music culture because it's something to be really proud of.”

Maribou State were first propelled onto the world’s stage with their 2015 debut album Portraits, followed by 2019’s equally acclaimed Kingdom In Colour, both redefining soulful, downtempo electronica for a new generation. Their collaboration with Khruangbin, "Feel Good," earned them many artist of the year accolades. Their music has been celebrated by the likes of NME, Complex, GQ, Clash and Crack Magazine, with Mixmag naming Maribou State as one of their "Artists Of The Year," and BBC 6 Music hailing Kingdom as their "Album Of The Day" alongside huge support from the likes of KCRW, KEXP, Annie Mac, Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft, Steve Lamacq, and many more.

This November, they'll play a sold-out one-off performance at London’s Islington Assembly Hall The show will also be a poignant moment, following the news shared earlier this year by Chris Davids that he had undergone a major operation for a rare brain condition in November 2023, the Islington show will mark both his and Liam’s returns to live performances since they wrapped up their Kingdoms In Colour Tour in 2019.

Oklou shares two new singles + announces 2025 headline tour

OKLOU SHARES TWO NEW SINGLES

“HARVEST SKY” FEATURING UNDERSCORES & “OBVIOUS” OUT NOW VIA TRUE PANTHER

ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN AND EUROPEAN TOUR DATES FOR EARLY 2025

Oklou by Gil Gharbi

“harvest sky” featuring underscores & “obvious”

LISTEN:

https://lnk.to/harvestobvious

(October 16, 2024) - Today, French vocalist, producer and composer Oklou shares two new singles “harvest sky,” featuring Bay Area artist underscores, and a sensuous companion, “obvious.” The new songs follow recently released single “family and friends,” which came alongside a Gil Gharbi directed music video, and is the second drop since her highly celebrated full-length mixtape galore. “harvest sky” begins with a striking filtered trance-melody, ultimately unfurling into a rhythmic big room anthem. underscores shares about the collaboration, “Oklou has become one of my favorite artists over the past few years, so I was ecstatic when she asked me to be a part of ‘harvest sky.’ The synth line in this song is generational.” Danny L Harle (Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX) and Nick Leon (Erika De Casier, Empress Of) added production elements to oklou’s characteristically restrained and spacious ambience.

Speaking about the new singles Oklou shares, “‘harvest sky’ is probably my third attempt to talk about a thing that happens at times during festivities; zoom out from the crowd and enter a lonely mental space. ‘obvious’ has got many names in the past, but I love this one cause this track feels very close to what defines a special tone in my music, in a core-ish way. It also talks about something dear to my heart: music vs words.”

Alongside the new music, Oklou is announcing a string of North American and European tour dates for February and March of 2025. The tour begins in Europe with stops including Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and London and then continues on to North America with dates in Toronto, Montreal, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Oct 18th here and you can find full tour routing below.

Born Marylou Mayniel in the countryside of Western France, Oklou’s first musical experiences consisted of classical piano and cello lessons before she fell in love with electronic music and took up production. Mayniel eventually moved to Paris, where she hosted weekly radio shows and performed her first live shows as Oklou. After two EPs, 2017’s For The Beasts and 2018’s The Rite Of May, Mayniel received international acclaim, accelerated through collaborations with Mura Masa, A. G. Cook and EASYFUN (the last two both producers of Charli XCX’s Brat) and culminating in her full-length mixtape galore in 2020. It was a turning point in her artistic life, heralded as an innovative and introspective work by fans and media, with Dazed praising as “sophisticated in its composition yet totally cutting edge in its sound.” International touring followed, including support tours with Oneohtrix Point Never and Caroline Polachek as well as a much-heralded feature with Flume.

Listen to “harvest sky” featuring underscores and “obvious” above and stay tuned for more from Oklou coming soon.

Isabella Lovestory shares new single & video

ISABELLA LOVESTORY SHARES LOTTERY WINNING NEW SINGLE & VIDEO “PUCHICA”

NEW ALBUM COMING SOON

“Puchica”

WATCH: https://youtu.be/Q5r2umDtR2Q

LISTEN: https://found.ee/Puchica

(October 16, 2024) - Today, Isabella Lovestory continues her stream of single offerings with “Puchica” and an accompanying self-directed low-fi playful music video. The video takes a collage DIY approach, chaotically combining footage of Isabella across a variety of settings; in her living room in Montreal, during soundchecks and performances at recent shows in Chile and Argentina, partying with friends in New York and hanging out on the beach in Chile. Similar to preceding singles “VIP” and “BOTOXXX,” “Puchica” plays with double entendre - this time between winning the lottery and exclaiming the Honduran slang “puchica” for winning it.. “Puchica” is produced by Isabella’s frequent collaborators NYC producer Chicken and UK-Chilean producer Kamixlo.

Speaking of the song’s significance, Lovestory writes ”Puchica is fun, silliness, carefree attitude. I wanted the song to encapsulate that rebellious sassy feeling you get then you say it; it’s not as harsh and negative as exclaiming “puta,” but still has that mischievous c*nty attitude. Naturally, the song is about winning the lottery of “the pussy of the day” and exclaiming “Puchica” once trying it. “Puchica” is “Puta’s” naughty younger sister, carefree, lucky and wants everyone to see her with makeup still intact at sunrise.”

This past May, Isabella took New York City by storm to celebrate the drop of her previously released “BOTOXXX” with a night to remember which commemorated the re-opening of Bushwick’s beloved queer nightclub RASH. Following the explosive exhibition that showcased her unique and maximalist creativity, Isabella embarked on her Plastic Fantasy tour, which included stops in Mexico City, Monterrey and Tijuana, Buenos Aires, Chile, Toronto MX along with a series of Summer festival dates in Europe. She will play iii Points Festival in Miami this coming Saturday.

Born in Honduras before moving to the US and then Canada at 13 years old, Lovestory has always exhibited a deep passion for colliding sound and visuals into an overwhelming barrage of creativity. In 2022, she made her mark with her debut Amor Hardcore, which Pitchfork characterized as “playful, maximalist, and flirtatious to the core.” Isabella continues to establish herself as living on the cutting edge of pop and reggaeton, working alongside boundary-breaking producers and collaborators like Chicken, Kamixlo, Nick León, Ms Nina and Methmath. Always agile as a songwriter and collaborator, Isabella has worked with the likes of LE SSERAFIM on “ANTIFRAGILE” and Villano Antillano on 2023’s “Fuetazo.”

Check out “Puchica” above and stay tuned for more details on Isabella's upcoming project coming very soon.

COCOROSIE RELEASE “LEAST I HAVE YOU”, CELEBRATE THEIR 20TH ANNIVERSARY AND BEGIN A NEW ERA BY SIGNING TO JOYFUL NOISE

COCOROSIE RELEASE “LEAST I HAVE YOU” HERE
+ MUSIC VIDEO HERE

THE SISTER DUO CELEBRATE
THEIR 20TH ANNIVERSARY AND BEGIN A NEW ERA
BY SIGNING TO JOYFUL NOISE

CocoRosie: (L) Bianca Casady, (R) Sierra Casady - photo credit - Kate Russell

Sister duo CocoRosie releases a brand new song, “Least I Have You,” along with a music video, and are excited to announce they’re newly signed to Joyful Noise Recordings (Deerhoof, ONEIDA, Kishi Bashi, WHY?, Surfer Blood, etc). “Least I Have You” is the hardest-earned and purest distillation of the CocoRosie project yet. Currently, in the studio, they are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and beginning a new era.

The entire CocoRosie project—which has, above all else, been a conduit for sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady’s connection—has been leading up to these words: “if no one in the world understands, at least I have you”. They are the chorus of their latest song “Least I Have You”, as well as the spiritual reward for Sierra and Bianca’s twenty-year-long stint of carrying one another’s pain and transmuting it into trashy treasure. In another artist’s mouth they might scan as trite, but in the sisters’ they are revelatory. CocoRosie has a unique talent for turning the kitsch primordial, the platitudinous, into fresh truths. And no one has earned those nakedly sentimental words as much as the Casady sisters.

The song’s musical arc mirrors the sisters’ relationship: it begins combatively, with the sound of gun-toting guitar squalls and beats like Street Fighter punches, before leveling out into tentative euphoria, cautiously crawling towards the ecstatic union of that chorus.

“Up until this song, we used to take our pain out on each other,” says Sierra. “Until we allowed our sisterhood to become the antidote to the damage that came in our younger years.” The song, Bianca adds, came “just in a simple way.” “It's vulnerable. It's cute. It's cliche. It's all these things I don't think we would have been able to approach in the past.”

About CocoRosie:
With a committed global fanbase stretching across Europe, the United States, South America and beyond, CocoRosie has consistently released cutting-edge studio records and performed to sold out concert venues for two decades. Recording artists most recognized for their masterful poetry and timeless harmonies accompanied by lo-fi toy folly, classical instrumentation and genre-defying rhythms, sister duo CocoRosie continue to elevate their sound and art with each recording project.

Sierra Casady is a classically trained Opera singer and stage actor and Bianca Casady is a published poet, theater director and accomplished visual artist. Together the sisters utilize music, theatrical practices of movement and character study, fashion and contemporary art to create a body of work which reflects the beauty and sorrow of our collective experience.

Through radically subversive and highly developed conceptual art, CocoRosie utilizes irreverence and play to stand up for human rights and question social norms, often

playing with taboos. Widely celebrated, often misunderstood, and always unwavering, CocoRosie is a rigorously structured art and music project spanning two decades.

CocoRosie has released seven studio albums to date and will release their highly anticipated 8th record in the Spring of 2025: Put The Shine On (2020), Heartache City (2015), Tales of a Grasswidow (2013), Grey Oceans (2010), The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn (2007), Noah’s Ark (2005), and La maison de mon rêve (2004). In addition to CocoRosie tours and festival performances worldwide, CocoRosie has composed original scores for four full-length theatrical works by acclaimed director Robert Wilson; Peter Pan, Pushkin's Fairy Tales, Edda, and Jungle Book - with another project underway.

CocoRosie has also worked with the Kronos Quartet at their Jazz Festival in San Francisco for two seasons, creating a new collection of songs that will become a collaborative album with Kronos.

As a visual artist, Bianca Casady has mounted solo art exhibitions internationally, including at Deitch Projects (2007) and Cheim & Read Gallery (2012). As an experimental theater director, Bianca has created several plays, including NightShift (2012) at Kampnagel in Hamburg, Germany, Mother Hunting (2015) at the National Theater in Oslo, Norway, and The Angel Show (2017) at the National Theater Academy in Norway. Bianca hosts an ongoing experimental poetry course titled Remembering The Miracle and in 2023, the artist published her first poetry book, Au bord du ciel: Heaven bound. Sierra Casady has arranged and performed music globally, including with the Symphony Orchestra of AmsterdamThe ICA in London and The Sydney Opera House and created “Soul Life,” an Opera staged at the Donau Festival in Krems.

Also, newly signed to Big Crown Records, their third full length album is due in the spring of 2025. They came to New York in June of 2024 to record their new album at The Diamond Mine Studio in Queens with Leon Michels (El Michels Affair) handling production. The first two songs from those sessions were recently released as 7” – “Cool Hand” (A-Side) and “Yakamoz” (B-Side) – ORDER HERE. Today, the band shares a live version of “Cool Hand,” recorded during those sessions. Watch “Cool Hand (Live From Diamond Mine)” here: https://youtu.be/r5fIYQ0GDPA.

“Cool Hand” is a beautiful juxtaposition of intensity and lightheartedness with lyrics that explore the depths of unrequited love while the music is uplifting and bright. Derya’s passionate vocals and maverick Saz playing ride atop the band’s infectious groove as she conjures images of pink mountains and unbloomed yellow tulips. The message is poetic and complicated, repeatedly declaring “I love you, I’m crazy about you” but ultimately ending a sense of peace through accepting a broken heart. Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek is fronted by Hamburg-born singer and bağlama player Derya Yıldırım. Despite being multilingual, Yıldırım exclusively sings in Turkish: “It’s really important to me because that’s the language I can really express myself in, it’s my emotional language” she explains. The band’s Graham Mushnik (organ, synthesizers) and Antonin Voyant (guitar, bass, and flute) are both members of outer-national collective Catapulte Records, known for their cinematic, groovy atmospheres — a clear influence on Grup Şimşek’s sprawling, vintage-tinged compositions. Capetonian drummer Helen Wells has introduced her own style and sensibilities from the South African DIY and psychedelic scenes into the live set since 2022.

Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek will soon be reaching new ears around the globe.

(October 16, 2024) - Ahead of the release of their anticipated new album Guided Tour, out this Friday via Dais Records, London’s High Vis shares the final offering with the title track. “Guided Tour” kicks off the journey weaved on the ambitious and exploratory new album, which ranges from hardcore to post punk to garage to Madchester baggy. Along with “Guided Tour,” the forthcoming full length will include the previously released singles “Drop Me Out,” “Mob DLA,” and “Mind’s a Lie,” the last of which features samples of vocals from celebrated South London singer and DJ Ell Murphy and arrived with a stunning video written and directed by Martina Pastori. Guided Tour is available for vinyl pre-order now in various exclusive colorways via Dais Records, Rough Trade and the band’s website. Pre-order the vinyl HERE. Guided Tour will also be available on cassette via Flatspot Records, which is available for pre-order HERE

High Vis is currently on the CORPUS GROWS tour across North America as direct support to Show Me The Body, alongside additional support from BIB, Special Interest, ZelooperZ, Bearcat, and Black Noi$e on select dates. Ahead of the CORPUS GROWS tour, High Vis and Show Me The Body shared their collaborative track “Stomach.” Following the North American run, High Vis will traverse Europe for their headline tour slated for this November and December with support from Pain of Truth ahead of their forthcoming UK shows in February 2025 with support from Narrow Head. Tickets can be found HERE and full tour routing is below.

On Guided Tour, High Vis sounds like a band reaching for new heights, bristling with energy. Recorded across a few weeks at Holy Mountain Studios in London with producer Jonah Falco and engineer Stanley Gravett (who also helmed the sessions for High Vis’ Blending), the results feel dynamic and dialed-in, like anthems burned into sense memory through sweat and repetition. The album’s 11 songs span the spectrum of contemporary guitar music, sharpened by experience, camaraderie, and societal frustrations. From swaggering street punk to jangling indie sneer to heavy alt to shoegazey spoken word, the group’s chemistry transmutes any style to their unique intensity.

Since 2018, High Vis has polished their progressive hardcore sound with shades of post-punk, Brit pop, neo-psychedelia, and even Madchester groove, mapping a middle ground between hooks and fury, melodies and mosh pits. In 2019, High Vis released their debut album No Sense No Feeling, which broadened the scope of the hardcore veterans beyond scene while creating self-described “post-industrial-Britain misery punk.” The celebrated follow up, 2022’s Blending includes the tracks “Talk For Hours” and “Trauma Bonds” and not only expands upon the sonic breadth of High Vis, but vocalist Sayle opened his chest cavity through his lyrics discussing social issues and political miseries while reaching a hand out to folks listening to give a message of hope.

Check out “Guided Tour” and pre-order / save Guided Tour above, see full tour routing and album details below, and stay tuned for more from High Vis coming very soon.

Toro y Moi announces North American tour with Panda Bear

TORO Y MOI ANNOUNCES 2025 HEADLINE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

WITH SPECIAL GUEST PANDA BEAR

HOLE ERTH OUT NOW VIA DEAD OCEANS

Toro y Moi by Cinque Mubarak

What the press is saying about Hole Earth:

“With Hole Erth, Toro y Moi broke free”

Rolling Stone

“[Hole Erth] lays the foundation for the future of the musical zeitgeist—a genre-fluid, multigenerational landscape.

Paste Magazine

“Toro y Moi’s inimitable style shines through.”

Consequence

“Erth is a record that blends ingenuity and honesty in a stellar and imaginative way—looking back, but never getting warped by nostalgia.”

FLOOD Magazine

“‘Hole Erth’ [continues to] to expand his already extensive scope, existing in the interim of a multitude of sounds and styles, and ignoring any rules or constraints”

HYPEBEAST

“[T]here is something about the tenderness that these songs somehow convey, and a philosophical bit to the way he builds his sound”

(October 15, 2024) - Toro y Moi announces a 2025 headline tour of North America with special guest Panda Bear. The tour will find Toro y Moi bringing the world of Hole Erth across the continent after recently playing marquis shows at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery, New York's Knockdown Center and next week's show at The Greek in Berkeley, CA -- Toro y Moi's biggest hometown headline show to date. Across the tour, Toro y Moi and Panda Bear will be joined by Nourished By Time and Kassie Krut as support. Today's tour announcement coincides with the news that Panda Bear will release his new album Sinister Grift around the launch of the forthcoming tour with Toro y Moi. Tickets for his upcoming tour will be on sale here starting October 18th at 10AM local time, with pre-sale starting tomorrow, October 16th at 10AM local time.

Hole Erth, Chaz Bear’s eighth full-length studio record as Toro y Moi, is the genre shapeshifter’s most unexpected and bold move to date, with Bear diving headlong into rap-rock, Soundcloud rap and Y2K emo. The album blitzes anthemic pop-punk next to autotuned, melancholic rap – two genres that inform one another now more than ever before — and packs in the most features ever on a Toro y Moi album with contributions from Kevin Abstract, Benjamin Gibbard, Don Toliver, Porches, Kenny Mason and more.

Recorded in the span of a few months across late 2023 and early 2024, Hole Erth’s features built naturally over that short span, with Bear simply reaching out to long-time friends. The sum of Hole Erth’s parts is massive, and demonstrates Bear’s deft abilities as a producer, especially in hip-hop; his role in the culture has long been solidified from previous collaborations with some of rap's biggest trailblazers. It’s a daring left turn for Bear, but the feel is effortless, the make-it-look-easy of a master at work. All told, Bear pushes himself into new sonic ground for the TyM oeuvre while embracing the project’s celebrated, well-known electronic beginnings. Hole Erth is brand new, but somehow perfectly at home.
