Saint Agnes share upcoming single 'Sister Electric' // FFO Sabbath, The Kills and Uncle Acid

Saint AgnesNew single ‘Sister Electric’ out June 17thvia Death or Glory Gang RecordsStream HERE
[image error]“Saint Agnes kick out the jams with a fervour and sense of purpose that's genuinely refreshing by shoving the blues through a mangle of 70s influenced psyche and metal and then spewing them out in a multi-coloured spray.” – The Quietus
“Psych-rock four-piece Saint Agnes have created a unique cinematic sound and a rock ’n’ roll Gothic image to match.” The Telegraph
“Their raw chemistry proves as potent as ever as they dish out a grinding splurge of defiant rock n’ roll graffiti”– Q Magazine
Since their formation in 2014, blues-rock powerhouse Saint Agnes have gone from strength to strength, releasing two sell out singles, a live EP and cementing their place as London’s most exciting live band. Now, they’re pleased to announce the release of the brand new single, ‘Sister Electric’, released June 17th on Death or Glory Gang Records.
Merging effortlessly raw guitars with true rock n’ roll swagger, Saint Agnes are a live phenomenon that simply need to be experienced. Their shows have become as renowned for their quality and performance as they have for their diversity, this is a band that comfortably sits alongside psych stalwarts The Jesus And Mary Chain (as they did at Manchester’s monster event, Cosmosis Festival earlier this year), as they do with the likes of acid rockers Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats. This is immediately evident at their gigs, where a sense of unifying camaraderie fills the air and the atmosphere is thick with anticipation, something rarely witnessed on the London live music circuit, that can be experienced first-hand at their ‘Sister Electric’ single launch in Hoxton on the day of release.
‘Sister Electric’ has been a long time coming, with fans vying for new material since the tear-away success of ‘A Beautiful Day For Murder’ released last year. This new cut blends the electrifying intensity of their previous singles, beautifully harmonised vocals from joint frontmen Kitty Arabella Austen (Lola Colt) and Jon Tufnell (Lost Souls Club), and biker-bar rock riffs. There’s the chemistry of The Kills there, heavily effected, churning bass reminiscent of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and bruising, Bonham drums. Smooth 70s style breakdowns introduce the distant harmonica that earned Saint Agnes their Ennio Morricone comparison but dig deeper and you’ll find the influence of legendary doomsters Black Sabbath and there’s no denying the instant chorus hook in their songwriting.
‘Sister Electric’ was recorded at the analogue Soup Studios in Limehouse on tape and engineered and mixed by Dave Holmes, it will be the first in a series of singles released in the same fashion. The band themselves produced it and it’s the first recording done with new drummer Andy Head.

STREAM THEIR ALBUM VIA INSTAGRAM

INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION OF PHOTOGRAPHS AT MARIO’S CAFÉ, LONDON

PREMIERE OF “DEAD BALLOONS” ON
LENNY LETTER

DEBUT ALBUM OUT MAY 20Polly Scattergood and James Chapman (Maps) aka onDeadWaves will be streaming their debut album viaInstagram, mirroring the music and images that are being shown in an exhibition of photographs at the legendary London café, Mario’s, in Kentish Town.

The Instagram stream will feature a track every day until release date on May 20, 2016. The exhibition at Mario’s Café collates photographs related to the album and exhibits them alongside a track from the album.  Customers can listen via headphones to each track, dipping in and out or moving around the café to hear the full tracklisting.

onDeadWaves explain the concept behind the album stream and exhibition, saying “The idea is to entwine art and music, as when we wrote the album, imagery was a key part of our writing process.” Discussing the café exhibition, they say, “The idea for the exhibition began when we realized how people consume art and music differently. Art still feels like it should be treasured, whereas music (especially online) feels like it is consumed and forgotten at such a fast pace. We just wanted to slow everything down a bit and blur the lines between art, music and life, allowing people to listen to a track on headphones and look at the art while relaxing in the café – with no pressure to click on the next image or scroll down.”

onDeadWaves will be available on CD, digital and as a limited edition vinyl with a signed art print.

This week the band also premiered the track, “Dead Balloons” via Lena Dunham’s site, Lenny Letter. Listen HERE .

The seeds of James Chapman and Polly Scattergood’s creative partnership were sown in 2011, at Mute’s legendary Short Circuit festival at London's Roundhouse. The night saw different collaborations with Mute artists and Polly and James paired up to perform each other’s songs.

Though each had primarily worked alone before, there was something natural about the chemistry between them. "The gig was one of the most enjoyable I've done " says Polly. "And as soon as we finished, we said it'd be cool to do something else."

onDeadWaves have been sharing mixes of tracks, charting a few of their favourite things right now. Follow their mixtapes  HERE .

Praise for On Dead Waves

Lenny – “Cinematic, lush and dark”

Q - "… a world of smeared mascara and trailer-park heartache, there's something wonderfully cinematic about this debut single.”

The Guardian - “Blackbird, their debut single, somehow nods to both shoegaze and country, with a David Lynchian creepiness to both music and lyrics."

Punk Rock Pioneer, Alice Bag's Politically Charged Single Drops

Alice Bag

2nd Single “ Poisoned Seed ” Revealed Today

Self-Titled Solo Debut LP  Released  6/24 on Don Giovanni

Album Release Show July 2 at The Echo in LA
w. Generacion Suicida + Kim and The Created As Support

“Alice Bag is a Latina punk rock pioneer and a product of the same scene that gave us Black Flag
and the Germs.”  Stereogum

“On “No Means No,” she's tapped into an equally youthful sound, finger-wagging about the entitlement that enables rape culture with the kind of spirited humor that bands like Tacocat, T-Rextasy, and Chastity Belt employ as a salve against exploding with rage.”  Pitchfork

"As an author, educator, lifelong badass and the leader of The Bags, among many other bands, she’s been a prolific and guiding light for Chicana punks, and ... she continues that force-of-nature output with fierce songs of protest and massive shredding."  Jezebel

Iconic punk rock feminist, author, educator and musician Alice Bag will release her self-titled solo debut album  Alice Bag June 24 on Don Giovanni Records. As with all of Bag’s artistic endeavours, this album is unabashedly honest and unafraid. Alice Bag features all original material written by Bag and includes performances by some of her favorite LA-based musicians.

Poetically biting lyrics set the stage for previously shared, sassy first single  “No Means No”  and today she shows her moodier, bluesier sound with politically charged “Poisoned Seed” premiered with  Jezebel  today. Listen to “Poisoned Seed”  HERE  and we encourage you to post/share!

Alice was lead singer and co-founder of The Bags, one of the first wave punk bands to form in the mid-1970's in Los Angeles, CA. She was featured in the seminal documentary on punk rock, The Decline of Western Civilization and went on to perform in other groundbreaking bands, including Castration Squad, Cholita, and Las Tres. She has published two books, including the critically acclaimed memoirViolence Girl which is now required reading in gender and musicology courses throughout the country + the self-published Pipe Bomb For the Soul, based on her experiences in post-revolutionary Nicaragua. Her influence on popular music is highlighted in the Smithsonian exhibit, American Sabor.

There will be an album release party on July 2 at The Echo in Bag’s hometown ofLos Angeles, CA with support from Generacion Suicida and Kim and The Created. Info and tickets available  HERE .

Promoter Sean McLusky started the festival back in 2007 with one plan, to bring together the true originators with the new breed of emerging bands, new artists playing alongside the musicians that inspired them, finding the international artists that still resonate with today’s scene while laying the foundations of the future with the bands of today.1-2-3-4 are also known to organise unique one-off sets, collaborations, reformations and special appearances, so expect the 2016 festival to be full of surprises.

James Supercave Share "Burn / No Pressure" Video With Noisey (NSFW)

Debut Album Better Strange Out Now On Fairfax Recordings
"It's hard to do weird-sexy well, but LA psych-pop trio James Supercave have made it their specialty. It's one of the reasons we picked the trio as a Noisey Next select earlier this year” -NOISEY“An excellent album on the way with Better Strange.” - NERDIST"'Burn' is creative and original -- it also demonstrates some serious talent" - Indie Shuffle“The perfect soundtrack to getting strange and making mistakes” - Buzzbands LAWatch: "Burn / No Pressure" via Noisey or YouTube Noisey  has premiered James Supercave’s new video for “Burn” from the band’s debut album Better Strange out now on Fairfax Recordings. The video also includes the unreleased bonus track "No Pressure," which the band has been performing at their live shows. The video was directed by Alexandre Souetre who told Noisey, “'Burn' served as a collaborative experiment, where personal interpretations came together to form a music video: While the song's meaning had no part in the initial inspiration, crew and talents were often blinded, both physically and conceptually, given very little explanation on context, content and purpose, and yet just enough to connect and work in parallel."Better Strange which was co-produced by Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids, Nick Waterhouse, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros) and the band is available on black vinyl, CD, and digitally. Fans can order the album digitally via iTunes and on vinyl at AmazonKCRW's Eric J. Lawrence says, "It [Better Strange] is a perfect album title for the band, as they prove themselves masters of the odd angles and off-kilter pop melodies that are littered throughout their record, turning unlikely musical directions into indie gold."James Supercave is on tour now supporting Wild Belle. The tour will make stops in west coast cities including Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more. The band has also announced shows with Big Black Delta, Crystal Castles and a performance at Make Music Pasadena. All upcoming shows are listed below.  James Supercave Tour Dates 05.11: San Diego, CA @ Casbah ~05.13: Los Angeles, CA @ The Echoplex ~05.14: San Francisco, CA @ Bimbo’s ~05.16: Portland, OR @ Star Theater ~05.17: Seattle, WA @ Crocodile ~05.27: Santa Ana, CA @ The Observatory w. Oscar Shares Music Video for "Good Things" + Debut Album Out May 13

Unveils Music Video for "Good Things" - WATCH HERE
U.S. Tour with Bloc Party Kicks Off on May 15th
Debut LP Cut and Paste Out May 13th on Wichita Recordings

On the eve of the release of his highly anticipated debut LP  Cut and Paste , North Londoner Oscar shares the video for new single "Good Things" - WATCH HERE.
Shot by acclaimed director Bryan Schlam (who also worked with Oscar on the "Sometimes" video and has collaborated with Kendrick Lamar in the past), it is a brilliantly off-beat, surreal accompaniment to the track, in Oscar's own words:"The song's message is a positive one and so it seemed a good idea to contrast that nicely in the video with a Warhol-esque sequence of things going wrong! The little things in life that seem like failures have to be laughed at in order to move on and to see all the good things!"
Contrasting with the fizzing pop buzz of " Sometimes " and the low slung swagger of " Breaking My Phone ", " Good Things " shows yet another side to Oscar: softer, sweeter, but no less infectious, it's just another reason why Oscaris set to be one of the brightest new stars in the British music firmament, and why  Cut and Paste  is undeniably going to be one of the albums of the summer.
This month, Oscar hits the road with Bloc PartyMSMR and The Vaccines. WENDY BEVAN SHARES "SWEET DEDICATION" SINGLE

WENDY BEVAN SHARES "SWEET DEDICATION" SINGLE
VIA SPIN

NEW EP SWEET DEDICATION OUT MAY 20TH ON KWAIDAN RECORDS / !K7 RECORDS
"Wendy Bevan conjures moody cold wave that takes its cues from the genre’s greats...It’s 'Personal Jesus' meets 'Ghost Rider' meets 'Lovesong'" -SPIN

LISTEN & SHARE: Wendy Bevan - "Sweet Dedication"
https://soundcloud.com/kwaidanrecords/wendy-bevan-sweet-dedication

"Sweet Dedication is a confessional song I wrote after reading the 'Book of Lies' by Aleister Crowley. Seeped within my own broken, psychic odyssey's and hallucinations, a theatrical landscape of shattered dreams; the song mimics the notion of madness, guilt and compulsion. Faith, Hope and Joy are a devotional representation of Babalon; all one physical manifestation of the same feminine principle. These Scarlet Women, live within all of us and metaphorically represent the female sexual impulse." -Wendy BevanWendy Bevan is a British musician, visual/performing artist, and photographer. Her work spans an array of media including musical performance, film, visual imagery and immersive, experiential artworks. She strives to maintain a multidisciplinary approach to her work, and believes in creating a universal language and balance in the crossover of these disciplines; known for her surreal, etherial and theatrical, aesthetic Wendy has developed a unique cinematic world and style of her own.

Bevan has exhibited and performed as a solo musician/artist, throughout the UK and Europe. She has appeared at music and live arts festivals such as SPILL Festival of PerformanceLatitude, and Secret Garden Party. Bevan has also performed at venues such as the ICA, and London’s Hackney Empire as a solo artist, and in recent years with her band Temper Temper working extensively as a performer, with theatre companies such as Punchdrunk; in their London shows, and their cult New York hit, Sleep No More.

Wendy is a singer and violinist and has collaborated and worked with music producers including Paul Simm (Neneh Cherry/Amy Winehouse), Howie B (Björk/Tricky). Her project  Saints Don’t Sleep, developed with producer Richard Frenneaux (Red Light Company/Laura Welsh) launched in 2015 at the IMPOSSIBLE SPACE in Paris. Wendy’s songs have since been synched on several feature film soundtracks, including her song "Hanging on the Wire" (2015) on the recent Reg Traviss brit gangster movie Anti-Social, and the Pacitti Company feature film, On Land Guard Point scored by Michael Nyman in 2012, saw her song "Starless Night"(Co-Written by David McAlmont) used within its main score.

This year her EP  Sweet Dedication  will be released, featuring two tracks from Wendy’s forthcoming debut album,  Rose and Thorn . Produced by Marc Collin of Nouvelle Vague Rose and Thorn  will be released on Kwaidan Records/!K7 Records in Fall 2016. In the wake of heros like Suicide and Kas Product, the minimal synth orientated project, mainly recorded on a Jupiter 8 and vintage drum machines features live strings arranged, and performed by the Balanescu Quartet. The much anticipated album is said to “take possession of your soul without you noticing”.

Wendy  is  a  visionary,  and  her  love  for  theatricality  is  ever  present  in  whatever  she  pursues.  The  World  of  Wendy  Bevan,  will  continue  to  mesmerise,  inspire  and  bewilder  audiences.SWEET DEDICATION EP - TRACKLISTING

Moby Releases "Music From Porcelain" + Book Tour

MOBY RELEASES “MUSIC FROM PORCELAIN” THE FIRST COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTION OF HIS MUSIC TO ACCOMPANY THE RELEASE OF HIS MEMOIRS, PORCELAIN

PRE ORDER HERE
“Music From Porcelain” is the companion album to Moby’s book of memoirs entitled, Porcelain, (Penguin Press; May 17). The album is a collection of newly re-mastered versions of classics including “Go!,” “Honey,” “Natural Blues” and “Bodyrock,” among many others, combined with a hard to get collection of classic Electronic music recordings from artists from 808 State to A Tribe Call Quest. “Music From Porcelain” is released June 10th on Thrive Music.
“The music in 'porcelain' is almost as important a character in the book as i am. to that end I've compiled a collection of songs written about in the book, both mine and other people's, in a little time capsule to accompany it. These songs all remind me of the New York that I lived in and was smitten with from 1989 – 1999,” Moby says.
Moby was an unlikely fit in the club scene of late ‘80s and early ‘90s New York City. A devout Christian, vegan, straight white kid from the suburbs, he was an outlier in a world dominated by people of color, gays, drug use and general debauchery. And yet, Moby was able to not only to break into one of the most difficult scenes in the entertainment field, but to also build a thriving career and go on to become one of the most interesting and iconic musicians of our time. By turns funny, disquieting, and moving, his unforgettable memoir, PORCELAIN, he recounts the ups and downs of his fledgling career.
In the midst of this organized chaos, Moby remains open to new people and experiences in a way that feels not only refreshing, but also nearly impossible in today’s New York. As a result, he finds himself crossing paths with some of the most memorable artist to come out of that era: Madonna, Run-DMC, Jeff Buckley, Sonic Youth. Moby’s is a wide-eyed ride: he gets cursed at publicly for ruining a freestyle session with Darryl McDaniels when he accidentally bumps the turntable, he shares a bathroom—and falling in love at first sight—with a dominatrix at a swingers party, and unwilling to turn down work, spins three shows in one night in England. His humility, curiosity, work ethic, and earnest desire bring joy to people through his work lead to success and an the inspiring story of one of the most influential musicians in modern history.
Moby will be embarking on a North American Book Tour throughout May and June. Check out all the dates below.
