Yak, known for a thrilling live show which can include instrument destruction, can give you that jolt of energy. The band spews all its bottled-up energy, anger and frustration into its music." - NPR All Songs Considered
"'Hungry Heart' is a track with soul-crushing, foot-stomping fury that's designed to evoke some kind of visceral reaction, whether positive or negative. In terms of introductions, it's pretty memorable." - Stereogum
"...young London band Yak whose chaotic live shows and dark garagey sound have garnered comparisons to The Birthday Party and The Cramps (also: Thee Oh Sees or Fat White Family)." -Brooklyn Vegan
"The debut of the year so far, make no mistake." - DIY (5/5)
"Rarely short of breath-taking" - Q Magazine
"Raucous psychedelic eruption" - UncutAlready shaping up to tbe one of the most lauded debuts of the year, Yak will release Alas Salvation  (produced by Pulp's Steve Mackey) on May 13th on Octopus Electrical via Kobalt Label ServicesOli Burslem explains: "I was trying to make it a slightly schizophrenic record that had all these different elements, but had so much of everything that by the end it would all just be lost and everybody would be like, 'What the hell was that? I don't know what that was, but I kind of enjoyed it.'"
Following the release of the official video for their thrilling new single "Harbour The Feeling", today the London-based trio reveal "Take It", a very different- sounding album track, which frontman Oli Burslem describes as follows: "We were trying to explore another side of Yak, a more musical side if you liked. We covered King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man early early on and in some ways this is a continuation of that."

Tancred to tour with Speedy Ortiz, The Good Life in May and June

TANCRED ANNOUNCE NEW TOUR DATESWITH SPEEDY ORTIZ AND THE GOOD LIFETICKETS ON SALE
NEW CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM OUT OF THE GARDENOUT NOW ON POLYVINYL RECORDS
“The 6 New Albums You Must Listen To Immediately” - WIRED
“Out Of The Garden is a full-on blast of power pop with an angry shadow behind it. Lead singer and songwriter Jess Abbott's voice sounds like it came straight out of 1999; she's got those perfect, subtly nasal pipes that sound like the sweetest, chewiest, most long-lasting bubblegum.” - THE FADER
“Out of the Garden is just phenomenal… this to me feels like a breakthrough,I feel like they’ll have a good year.” - NPR Music

Tancred are thrilled to announce upcoming tour dates in continued support of their just-released new album, Out of the Garden. They’ll be hitting the west coast with Speedy Ortiz and The Good Life from the end of May through mid-June. The band has been riding an incredible wave since the release of Out of the Garden, which has been lauded as “phenomenal” by NPR Music. Stereogum praised lead single “Sell My Head” for how it “simmers with a uniquely bold energy” and Rookie recently debuted the incredible Jason Lester-directed music video for “Bed Case,” which you can watch here. Upcoming tour dates are listed below.
Watch the Video for “Bed Case” via YouTubeStream “Sell My Head” & “Control Me” via SoundCloud
Order Out of the Garden via Polyvinyl Records
Written over a two-year period during a break from touring, Out of the Garden’s emphasis on re-defining feminine expectations was shaped by primary songwriter Jess Abbott’s experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town. Along with band members Kevin Medina and Terrence Vitali, Abbot ended up traveling to LA to record with That Dog’s Anna Waronker and Off!/Redd Kross member Steven McDonald. As a result, Out of the Garden showcases Tancred shedding its former skin in favor of a bolder and infinitely more confident sound.

Haley Bonar To Release Impossible Dream On August 5; Stream “I Can Change" at Stereogum

Haley Bonar To Release Impossible Dream On August 5Stream “I Can Change" at Stereogum Photo credit: Graham Tolbert
"She's a remarkable performer, with a terrific ear for detail and a gift for masking melancholy observations with hooks that stick." - NPR

“Bonar creates a whimsical masterclass of indie-pop songwriting.” - Consequence Of Sound

"Dynamic and demanding." -SPIN
Stream: “I Can Change” via Stereogum or SoundCloud
Haley Bonar is set to release her upcoming full length album Impossible Dream on August 5th via GNDwire (US) / Spit Comet (CA) / Memphis Industries (UK + EU). The album was recorded on analog tape in at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN and was mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TVOTR) & Robbie Lackritz (Feist) at Haut Bruun.  Stereogum  has premiered “I Can Change” from Impossible Dream and said, “the record’s lead single, is all about breaking out of repeating patterns, as the title suggests, and Bonar’s voice takes on a steely resolve against the rolling, woodsy instrumentation that beckons for forward momentum. ‘I could be so happy if I let myself be happy,' she sings at one point. 'But I’m too busy behaving for a crowd.’”
Haley Bonar told Stereogum
:“Everybody wants a story. Something to sell. I’m here to tell you that there isn’t one with this album, at least in the traditional sense, but ten. Perhaps each of them contain more stories, sitting inside each other like nesting dolls. I could sit here and tell you that some of the songs are about growing up in the Black Hills. Some of the songs are about my parents. Some of the songs are about sexuality. Some of the songs are about loss of youth, teenage parenthood, the lines of social disorder for women, or the terror of jealousy and suspicion. But what I write is borne of my own set of memories and ideas, and once they are released into the world, they do not belong to me anymore. The interpretation is all yours, therefore these stories are yours. What I can tell you is this: My name is Haley Bonar (rhymes with “honor”). I’m 33 years old, a Taurus, and I live in Saint Paul, MN with my daughter Clementine. I also sing in a band called Gramma’s Boyfriend.” BBC 6 Music have added "I Can Change" to rotation today  and Apple has added it to their A-List: Alternative Playlist. Haley Bonar has also announced several spring midwest and UK shows. Look for more tour dates to be added in the coming weeks. All confirmed dates are listed below. Haley Bonar is more than a hard working musician. She is an innovator, creative ass-kicker and visionary dug into the trenches of living. She writes genuine, epochal and poetic tales that feel like our heartbreak, failure, frustration and joy. In a clear, insistent and often haunting voice, she tells real stories back to us, as if they were our own. It just doesn't get much better than that.

EVVOL RELEASE EROTIC AND GENDER AMBIGUOUS SHORT FILM FOR 'PHYSICAL L.U.V'

EVVOL RELEASE EROTIC AND GENDER AMBIGUOUS SHORT FILM FOR 'PHYSICAL L.U.V’SET ON A RURAL FARM IN GERMANY, THE VIDEO FEATURES THE MEETING OF 2 TEENAGERS AND FOLLOWS THEIR PATH TO PASSION
‘Physical L.U.V’ - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frI2YpIGnGs
[image error]
‘Vaporous, alluring electronic pop’ Stereogum     ‘Cinematic, vibe-y and dreamlike’ The Fader      ‘Nocturnal and atmospheric' The Guardian
‘Wonderfully bipolar music that explores the highs and lows, light and dark, of both music and life’ i-D       ‘Dark, sultry and refreshing’ NME
Since returning from European live runs with both Peaches and YACHT, Berlin-based darkwave-pop duo Evvol have spent the past few months holed up in their Kreuzberg studio writing the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed debut ‘Eternalism.’ ‘Physical L.U.V’ (!K7 Records) is the result - a dense, ethereal and very personal EP, documenting the physical and emotional comforts and constraints of love. "We feel 'Physical L.U.V' is a pop song for 2016, a truth-telling story about motivations and expectations, and we wanted a video to match that. Produced in rural Germany, our short film tells the story of Luka, a genderqueer teenager whose everyday life consists of creating creamy ice-cold milkshakes in a gym and taking good care of the equipment. The story begins when Luka hitches a ride from a farmer in a tractor after work and encounters his daughter. Back at her parents' dairy farm, they experience a special kind of 'Physical L.U.V.’EvvolFormed in 2014 from the ashes of previous musical projects and having rekindled their fractured relationship, Evvol - AKA Irish singer Julie Chance and Australian multi-instrumentalist Jane Arnison - embarked on a new and revitalised direction. Debut full-length ‘Eternalism’ was the sound of commercial pop fused with arty electronica, dripping with industrial charm and evoking Berlin’s seedy underbelly. Under a former moniker they have previously toured the world with Austra, and shared the stage with Grimes, Peaches and TRUST.
Less than a year after announcing their debut album to the world, Evvol look set to pick up the electronic-pop mantle and make 2016 their own. They play The Garage in London on 14th May to mark the release of ‘Physical L.U.V.'

NITE JEWEL, ZOE KRAVITZ & SAMANTHA URBANI COVER REXY'S "DON'T TURN ME AWAY" PRESS HERE to Listen on Pitchfork Re-Issue of Rexy's Running Out Of Time (1981)Out Now via Samantha Urbani's New Label: URU

(Rex heading to the Blitz Club, circa 1981) Ramona Gonzalez, better known as Nite JewelZoe Kravitz (Lolawolf), andSamantha Urbani (Friends) have teamed up to cover "Don't Turn Me Away," by British pop duo Rexy, giving the track a '80s-derived, R&B spin, that's dripping with West Coast cool.  PRESS HERE  to listen via  Pitchfork.  The collaboration comes fresh off the heels of the reissue of Rexy's only album,  Running Out Of Time  - out now on London label Lucky Number, in-conjunction with new label  URU , spearheaded by Samantha Urbani.
LISTEN TO "DON'T TURN ME AWAY" by NITE JEWEL, ZOE KRAVITZ & SAMANTHA URBANI: https://soundcloud.com/urururu/nite-jewel-feat-zoe-kravitz-samantha-urbani-dont-turn-me-away-rexy-cover  BUY REXY'S RUNNING OUT OF TIME  HERE .  Originally released in 1981 and long since out of print, Running Out Of Time has become a coveted find for fans of leftfield pop, and through the rewards of its wry, forward-looking songcraft, has been championed by the likes of current artists such as Ariel Pink, Joey Negro, Connan Mockasin and MGMT.  Upon the formation of URUUrbani knew re-releasing the Rexy album was her first priority. She and Lucky Number spent months trying to track Rexy down on Facebook; when they finally did, they learned the band hadn't kept in touch nor seen each other for 30 years. The proposal to re-release their album sparked their interest in making music together again. Whether this reunion will produce any new recordings or shows is anyone's guess, but until then, Running Out of Time is ready to be justly re-categorized by a new generation of listeners from being a pop oddity to being an absolute classic.

OUGHT share new video "Beautiful Blue Sky" - Tour kicks off today

OUGHT Share New Video "Beautiful Blue Sky"Debuted By NPR
Headlining North American Tour Kicks Off TodayDates Added: NYC, DC, TX and More Director: Bobby McHugh | Director of Photography: Jacob Rosen | Starring: Matt Drews
Watch / Share: "Beautiful Blue Sky" via YouTube Here
Today Ought deliver an exceptional new video which debuted with  NPR's All Songs TV who've detailed "Ought braids the roots of daily pleasantries and terror into eight minutes of contemplative and gliding post-punk."
"Beautiful Blue Sky was meant to present a structure that felt like a surreal dream that paired with my interpretation of the ideas Ought presents in the song" says director Bobby McHugh"Clarity, balance and happiness can be the direct result of movement and breath, while our obsession with development, consumerism and frustration with the banalities of our everyday experience can cause feelings of nihilism and depression that at their extreme can render us immobile and constrained. In this video I tried to weave together two dreamy, surreal storylines that reflect these two competing states of being."
Ought kick off a headlining North American tour tonight in Boston. More dates have been added; highlights include two nights in NYC, D.C., Austin, Nashville and Priests join them this round to support. Full list of dates available below.
Ought convey an earnest and exuberant post-punk: dextrous and exacting while bursting with propulsive and fluid energy, as indebted to Cap'n Jazz as to Talking Heads.  In case you've missed it, the thrilling and adventurous Montréal-based rock quartet have had a hell of a two years, earning universal acclaim for both their 2014 breakout debut More Than Any Other Day and follow up  Sun Coming Down  which are both out now on  Constellation .
"Live, the group vibrates with a frenetic yet focussed energy, and the rubbery onstage movements of the front man, Tim Darcy, make him seem like a more elastic Mark E. Smith" - The New Yorker
"indie rock that sounds like how urbanity makes you feel: nervous, antsy, sometimes hostile, yet intoxicatingly vibrant." - 8.0 Pitchfork
"Play this music loud enough, and it can have an almost physical effect, making jaws clench and tendons go taut." - Stereogum
