Pale Dian - 'Narrow Birth'
Pale Dian - Narrow BirthStreet Date, June 3rd, 2016, Manifesto Records
Formed in 2015, PALE DIAN ride the ashes of their previous project, Blackstone Rngrs, into smudgier, esoteric terrains. The debut LP 'Narrow Birth' is set for a June 3rd, 2016 release via Manifesto Records, the current home of Dead Kennedys, legendary psyche-pop band the Turtles, and modern signees Puro Instinct, Cellars, Band Aparte, and Drinking Flowers. The record explores power and weakness, birth and decay, love and abandonment, beauty and abrasiveness. Narrow Birth refers to both the fragility of life and the complete and utter randomness that we, as humans, even exist on this planet in the first place. It exposes the naked realities confronting us all: “here is me, and there is you, so now what? Stream the album's debut single "In A Day" on SoundCloud. Casket Girls Share “Tears Of A Clown” With Noisey; New Album The Night Machines On June 3
Casket Girls Share “Tears Of A Clown” With NoiseyNew Album The Night Machines On June 3 via Graveface RecordsGraveface Roadshow June Tour Dates Announced
"It's the band's most booming single to date, killing pop culture with pop and enjoying every second of it." - Noisey on "Tears Of A Clown"
"Utterly creepy and comforting at the same time, embracing the unfathomable while finding something familiar and familial in the process." - Consequence of Sound"The Casket Girls' brand of goth pop is definitely dark, but it's a perfect mixture of doom and optimism that keeps you hanging on every word." - Bust"The Casket Girls sound like homespun electronic kindred spirits to School of Seven Bells, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Au Revoir Simone, and other dream-pop groups centered around swirling sisterly vocals." - SPINStream: "Tears Of Clown" via Noisey or BandCamp
Watch: The Night Machines album trailer via YouTube Casket Girls will release The Night Machines on June 3 via Graveface Records. The album is available to pre-order on LP and digitally now in the Graveface online store. Today Noisey has premiered "Tears Of A Clown" from The Night Machines. Noisey says, "The song mixes together cool-kid 90s alt-pop with intense, industrial bassiness. Both vocalists sing with pointedness, teasing out lyrics like "from bible belt to tinsel towns, seeing stars behind bars" that just ooze with contempt. It's the band's most booming single to date, killing pop culture with pop and enjoying every second of it."
The band also announced a June co-headlining tour with Stardeath and White Dwarfs as part of the Graveface Road show. The upcoming tour will kick off on June 8th in Savannah and includes stops in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more. All upcoming shows are listed below. The Casket Girls leave the safety of their blackout curtain lair to roam an apocalyptic world, questioning the essence of humanity, where the dreamers, prophets and vampires of the old world, work together to forge a new path. The concept is Singularity. Welcome to The Night Machines. The Casket Girls are the virtually reclusive Savannah sisters, Phaedra and Elsa Greene, and Ryan Graveface (Graveface Records, Dreamend, etc). The group’s bond has continuously strengthened over the course of their four releases, culminating in Night Machines, their third full length LP and strongest effort to date. They wrote, recorded and mixed the record in Savannah and Athens, GA with local hero Andy LeMaster. Drum duties were taken on by fellow Graveface Records artist T.W. Walsh. The Casket Girls have gained momentum and a substantial cult following due to the unflagging catchiness of their songwriting and the compelling development of their polarizing live show, the likes of which prompted one reviewer to write “The Casket Girls are more than just a band; they're a living art piece. Their descent into the crowd at the end of the show for hugs that culminated in a shared embrace between the sisters was grand. In this final moment, Seeba's earlier declaration rang true. We were The Casket Girls, they were The Casket Girls.”

Black Dice's Eric Copeland Announces 'Black Bubblegum' LP Out 7/8 on DFA, Shares "On" Single via VICE/thump
ERIC COPELAND
(Of Black Dice)
Announces Black Bubblegum LPOut July 8th via DFA Records
Listen to lead single “On” via VICE/thump
“While making [‘Black Bubblegum’], Copeland ditched the deconstructed sampling that he used on past recordings in favor of something more "hands-on"—and if lead single "On"is any indication, these new tracks benefit from the love” - VICE/thump

Black Bubblegum is the newest LP from Eric Copeland, and we are not kidding when we emphasize it sounds like nothing he has done in the past. The title of the record says it all: chewy, sticky pop that doesn’t taste quite like any chewy, sticky pop you’ve had before.
Recorded at Copeland’s old practice space in South Williamsburg, Black Bubblegum contains songs with more conventional sounds and songwriting than any of his previous releases. While there are similarities with Copeland’s earlier work in the drum patterns, major scales and vocals, Black Bubblegum moves away from his trademark psychedelic dub towards strange and fantastical pop; imagine Arthur Russell going into the studio with the Ramones. Wanting to take a more “hands-on” approach to these recordings, Copeland exchanged sample-driven tech and hardware for keyboards, guitars and effect pedals, creating a new sound that is oddly easy to digest despite its rejection of melody in favour of discord and dissonance.
For a long time, Copeland considered this collection of songs to be recordings which would never be heard. This invariably influenced certain decisions made during the creation of Black Bubblegum , blessing Copeland with the unique freedom that comes from making music never intended to be heard, let alone released.
When asked to please jot down what influenced this new album and sound, Eric replied, ”…glam holes, glitter dreams, money troubles, apocalypse paranoia, one hit wonders, manifest destiny, my family's westward migration, body troubles (was passing kidney stones almost the entire time), LGBT disco parties, Jonathan Richman, Missing Foundation, Neil Diamond, New Orleans, poverty, getting pushed out of another Brooklyn neighbourhood... No Beach Boys, no Beatles, no Buddha... More Bad News Bears.”
Eric Copeland has been sound clashing at full volume for over twenty years, first carving out a name for himself as one third of the legendary NY-via-Providence band Black Dice. A wildly prolific solo artist, Copeland has played shit houses, party palaces and seemingly everything in between all over the world.
A long time Brooklyn resident, Eric recently relocated to where the L Train does not run - Palma de Mallorca, Spain. While maintaining a relatively humble and low key presence in a highly competitive musical world, he has releases a prolific amount of music every year through indie labels such as L.I.E.S., Escho (Iceage), PPM (No Age), Paw Tracks (Animal Collective) andDFA.
Eric Copeland’s Black Bubblegum LP is set for release July 8th 2016 via DFA Records.

Violent Femmes announce additional summer 2016 tour dates
VIOLENT FEMMES ANNOUNCE ADDITIONAL SUMMER 2016 TOUR DATES
APPREARANCES AT NEWPORT FOLK FEST AND MORE

"Never quite grasping the success of some of their equally madcap peers, Violent Femmes have rightly earned their place in musical history with their outstanding debut alone." - NPR "The Wisconsin punk-folk trio's first album in 18 years occasionally summons the warped whimsy of their classic self-titled 1983 debut - only updated for ruined teens hitting their fifties." - Rolling Stone
(New York, NY) - Today, Violent Femmes announce additional tour dates to their extensive 2016 summer tour. Following a sold out Australian tour and many sold out West and East Coast dates in May and June; Violent Femmes are extending their U.S. tour to key Midwest and festival dates. The tour is in support of their latest album WE CAN DO ANYTHING, released March 4 ([PIAS]). Violent Femmes' world tour is underway now and will take the band throughout the West Coast, Midwest, and East Coast through May, June and July. As if that weren't enough, Violent Femmes has also been announced among the star-studded line-up for Radio 104.5's 9th Birthday Show at Camden, NJ's BB&T Pavilion, slated for June 17, Asbury Park's Stony Pony Summerstage series on June 19, KRZZ'S Beach Ball Buzz in Kansas City on July 16, and a performance at Newport Folk Fest on July 22. For updates and ticket information, please visit www.vfemmes.com/tour. WE CAN DO ANYTHING is available now at all leading online music retailers. Order the album on DIGITAL, CD or VINYL. Last month the band premiered the video for the first single, "Memory," from their new album via Record Store Day. The clip was created and animated by Harley Hefford, an Australian video director and fan of Violent Femmes who created last year's "Good For/At Nothing" music video for the band off their Record Store Day EP. Watch the video for "Memory" HERE.

Beth Orton unveils video for ‘1973’
[image error]
Prior to the release of Beth’s stunning new album ‘Kidsticks’, which is released via ANTI- on May 27th, you can stream the video for 1973 here. It was created by acclaimed photographer/director Tierney Gearon, and the song features Twin Shadow on guitar.
Beth Orton‘Kidsticks’ANTI- recordsMay 27th 2016Vinyl / CD / download
When musicians talk about getting back to their roots, it’s usually an excuse to pull out a battered old acoustic to create some bare bones music. In Beth Orton’s case, going back to her roots meant something very different.
Having relocated to California a couple of years ago, Beth began experimenting with a series of electronic loops that would eventually come together as her career-redefining new album; a record inspired both by the wide-open nature of Los Angeles and the spirit of Beth’s earliest recordings (electronic work with producers like William Orbit, Andrew Weatherall and Kieran Hebden as well as groove-based music with Red Snapper).
‘Kidsticks’ repositions Beth’s unmistakable voice inside ten pure, audacious, playful and kinetic songs. A resolutely focused album, it represents a rare chance to hear an established artist get plugged in and completely rework the songwriting process with wide-eyed, open-minded glee.
‘Kidsticks’ was co-produced by Beth and Andrew Hung from F*ck Buttons. It was recorded with various musician friends of Beth’s in California (including George Lewis Jr. from Twin Shadow onelectric guitars, Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor on backing vocals and bass guitar and Dustin O'Halloran from A Winged Victory for the Sullen who provided piano and string arrangements). Vocals were recorded by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age/Mark Lanagan Band) and mixed by David Wrench (Caribou/Hot Chip).
Beth Orton has been one of the most unique and beguiling voices in music for the past two decades. Her debut LP – ‘Trailer Park’ - pioneered a synthesis of electronic and acoustic songs to huge acclaim. The follow up – ‘Central Reservation’ - brought international success and the Brit Award for Best British Female. Further albums like the Jim O’Rourke produced ‘Comfort of Strangers’ and 2012’s ‘Sugaring Season’ deepened the breadth of her craft (Sugaring Season was described by Pitchfork as "ten songs of sweet resilience delivered by a voice of seemingly effortless expression”).
Live dates:
· May 27th/28th Brighton Festival· May 30th Rough Trade In-store · July 24th Deershed Festival, Topcliffe, North Yorkshire· August 6th Caught by the River Thames Festival, Fulham Place, London

Introducing the Moog Model 15 Modular App
INTRODUCING THE MODEL 15 MODULAR APP
First Synthesizer Utilizing Metal, Apple’s Advanced Graphics Engine

Today, Moog announced the release of the Moog Model 15 app, an iOS version of the iconic 1970’s modular synthesizer. It is the first Moog modular synthesizer and synthesis educational tool created exclusively for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Designed to evoke the joyous experimentation and sonic bliss of its predecessor’s vintage hardware, the Moog Model 15 app meticulously recreates the look, feel and sound of its highly expressive analog namesake. From the legendary Moog 921-series oscillators and 904A Low Pass Filter, to the coveted 907 Fixed Filter Bank; each module’s character, harmonic complexity and mystique has been ardently preserved.
Watch Suzanne Ciani Video Clip
In the video clip above, Suzanne Ciani, one of the first and most influential female electronic music composers and synthesists, creates a short sonic sketch using the Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer app. Ciani explores the custom-programmed sounds she designed in the app alongside Moog technicians as they hand-build the app's hardware modular namesake at the Moog Factory in Asheville, NC. Listen to Suzanne's full composition here.
Ciani's unique patches are available as a free expansion pack in the Model 15's in-app store.
Expanding beyond the traditional offerings of an analog Model 15 synthesizer, the Moog Model 15 app has total MIDI integration, dedicated Audio Bridge and MIDI Bridge modules, a looping recorder module, a ping-pong delay module and a new extension cabinet populated with additional amplifiers and voltage controlled attenuators.
To develop the most immersive and expressive modular interface possible, the Moog Model 15 app has been designed utilizing Metal, Apple’s new advanced graphics engine. We worked directly with Apple to take full advantage of the CPU-maximizing tech in iOS 9, freeing-up valuable CPU processing power to run audio at 4x full rate while ensuring that all zooming, panning and modular patching throughout the application feels completely natural. The additional processing power enables all of the calculations to be fully dynamic while introducing spontaneous imperfections, which mimics the behavior of real analog circuits.

To welcome more people into the world of modular synthesis, we have included a number of learning-based features in the Moog Model 15 app. When a starting patch point is selected, all available patch destinations are immediately highlighted, assisting the user in the concepts of modular signal flow. Also included in the application are a special class of “Tutorial Presets” that provide guided, step-by-step, instructions on patch creation and signal flow. The Moog Model 15 app will ship with preloaded Tutorial Presets, as well as offering users the ability to easily create and share their own Tutorial Presets from inside the application.
The Moog Model 15 app supports all 64-bit devices running iOS 9.3.1 or later. Compatible devices include iPhone 5s or newer, iPod touch 6 or newer, iPad Air or newer, and iPad Pro.
The Moog Model 15 app is available for $29.99 on the App Store now.
