Noname releases debut project

NONAME RELEASES DEBUT PROJECT

TELEFONE AVAILBALE NOW AT NONAMEHIDING.COM

Noname by Bryan Lamb
Noname - Telefonehttps://soundcloud.com/noname/sets/telefone
After a handful of stunning feature verses and a few solo tracks trickling out over the last couple of years, Chicago upstart Noname (formerly Noname Gypsy) has finally released her debut full length project Telefone. The project arrives as a free download and stream. Most of the production on Telefone was handled by Cam O'bi and Saba and features vocal contributions from Saba, Raury, theMIND, Smino, Phoelix, Ravyn Lenae, Xavier O'mar, Eryn Allen Kane, Akenya, Cam and Joseph Chilliams.
Noname (aka Fatimah Warner) had her first interactions with the art of the spoken word in high school and began attending open mic's all over the city. Noname met peers like Chance The Rapper and Mick Jenkins through her interest in poetry along with many other artists who inspired her to further her craft. After finding herself on Chance's Acid Rap and Mick's The Water[s], Noname started to gain a strong following, most of whom have been waiting for her debut ever since. Noname garnered eyes and ears internationally with her verse on "Warm Enough" on Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment's Surf album. Most recently she was featured on Chance's Coloring Book and theMIND's debut project, Summer Camp. After building anticipation with her features and the handful of solo tracks, Noname is here to claim her stake as one of the most exciting new voices in music with Telefone. Check out the full project details below and stay tuned for more Noname news.

"The most reliably great and sexually charged duo in blues- rock thrive onstage, stalking each other in a heady whirl of guttural screams and sharp cheekbones."  -  The New York Times
"Beyond their considerable swagger, the Kills are also some of the best in the business musically, from Mosshart's snarling vocals to Hince's exhilaratingly perverse take on blues guitar." -  Entertainment Weekly
"On Ash & Ice, Hince and Mosshart...polish their edgy sound, built on his caustic riffs and her witchy wail. But the difference on this LP, the band's fifth, is all in the beats... there are new production sounds, paired with catchy guitar and vocal riffs." -  Rolling Stone
The Kills (Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart) released their fifth full-length album, Ash & Ice  earlier this summer. Today, the band shares a special acoustic performance of "Hum For Your Buzz," which was filmed on the famous Warner Bros' lot in Burbank, California when they taped  CONAN . The performance is the 2nd installment forCONAN's new series - Backlot Music.

Haley Bonar's Impossible Dream Streaming In Full At NPR First Listen

Haley Bonar's Impossible Dream Streaming In Full At NPR First ListenNew Album Out August 5 Fall Tour Dates Announced  photo credit: Graham Tolbert "Impossible Dream, finds the underrated Minnesotan in top form, mixing darkness and light with a deft  touch." - NPR"Bonar’s voice and lyrics are as pure and potent as ever, and the constantly shifting guitar aesthetics — from a distorted jangle to swampy bass and back — make for a versatile but focused body of work. Listen." - Stereogum
“Bonar creates a whimsical masterclass of indie-pop songwriting.” - Consequence Of Sound"In the past 10 years, she naturally progressed from stripped-down folk and country music to incorporating various layers of sound ranging from classical piano to sunshine pop.” - Interview"I love this ('I Can Change’)." - Sir Elton John, Rocket Hour on Beats 1"My pick for album of of the year” - Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 MusicStream: Impossible Dream via NPR First ListenWatch: "Kismet Kill" official video via  NPR First Watch Haley Bonar will release her highly anticipated full-length album Impossible Dream on August 5th via GNDwire (US) / Spit Comet (CA) / Memphis Industries (UK + EU). The critically praised album is streaming in full a week ahead of its August 5th release date via NPR’s First ListenNPR's Stephen Thompson says, "Haley Bonar was only 18 when she released her first album back in 2001 — and 15 years later, her sharp and reflective songwriting dwells (appropriately enough) on her current place in that ceaseless coming-of-age process. The songs on Impossible Dream revolve around the ways we age into our identity, learn to live within our own skin, and try to look back only fleetingly, with as little regret as possible. "I was impossible when I was beautiful," she sings in "Kismet Kill," packing all the ambivalence she can into just seven words."
Impossible Dream has been rave reviews from influential publications such as MOJO, Q, Uncut, Bust, No Depression and more. The album is available to pre-order now on CD and limited edition teal vinyl in Haley Bonar’s Online Store as well as digitally via iTunes. All iTunes pre-orders will include a free immediate download of “Kismet Kill,” “I Can Change” and “Stupid Face.” Impossible Dream follows up Haley Bonar's acclaimed release Last War and was recorded on analog tape in at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, MN and was mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TVOTR) & Robbie Lackritz (Feist) at Haut Bruun.
Haley Bonar has also announced fall US and UK shows. The upcoming tour fall tour will make stop in major cites including Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Boston and more. Additional tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks. Haley Bonar has spent a lot of the past few years poring over her past. That has something to do with the sound of her recent recordings, whether it be her recent solo efforts or the throwback funky punky grooves of her side project Gramma’s Boyfriend.

But on her latest album Impossible Dream, this glance in the rearview has also inspired some of the most poignant and pointed work of her long career as songwriter even if you have to dig a little to find Bonar within the tunes.

Impossible Dream then, like all of Bonar’s work, gains its power from a combination of the personal and universal. Even when she sings about her days hitting up basement punk shows on “Better Than Me” or kicks off this album with an ode to her formative years in the gently chiming “Hometown,” it will surely stir up memories from your own younger days.
And as with her prior albums, Bonar reveals a widescreen look at the world, touching on issues of sexuality, jealousy, and the fragile ties that bind relationships together. If they connect with your circumstance and the cultural conversation at large, that’s just a welcome coincidence.“Those things have always been relevant to me,” Bonar says. “Those conversations have been happening my entire life.”
What is clear right now is the impact this album is looking to have on the world at large. Bonar has already received some excited press notices about the two singles from Impossible Dream that have already been released: “I Can Change” (“a resolute pillar of bold, classic songwriter,” according to The Line of Best Fit) and “Kismet Kill,” which  Stereogum  called “a penetrating rumination on just how transitory love and beauty can be.“). The biggest stamp of approval, though, has come from Elton John. The venerated singer/songwriter chose to play “I Can Change” on his Beats 1 show Rocket Man Radio. “Hearing Elton John say my song is beautiful is pretty awesome,” Bonar admits.
To say that Bonar’s career has been building towards that nod from a rock god, though, is to dismiss all the hard work she has done since she started releasing music in 2001. The 33-year-old singer/songwriter has been building a fanbase slowly and steadily, while remaining in complete control of her art. As with all of her prior albums, Bonar wrote and arranged all the songs onImpossible Dream. She also co-produced the record with Minneapolis mainstay Jacob Hanson. Chances are she’d be making this music even without the support of a label or her many fans around the world. But, just as the title of this new album suggests, she’s living out her wildest and most impossible dream right now.
“If somebody came to me as a teenager and said, ‘In 15 years, you’ll have made nine records and be touring the world,’ I would have been, like, ‘No way,’” she says, laughing. “It’s true that it might not look like a lot to some people, but it’s very special to me.”Haley Bonar Tour Dates 7.31 | Rochester, MN - Riverside Concert Series *9.06 | Chicago, IL - Schubas 9.07 | Columbus, OH - Ace of Cups 9.08 | Philadelphia, PA - World Cafe Live 9.09 | Portsmouth, NH - Birdseye 9.10 | Portland, ME - SPACE 9.11 | Cambridge, MA - The Middle East 9.13 | Brooklyn, NY - Knitting Factory 9.14 | Washington, DC - Black Cat9.16 | Cincinnati, OH - MOTR Pub9.17 | Bloomington, IN - The Bishop 9.24 | Eau Claire, WI - The State Theater 10.13 | Hamburg, DE - Kleiner Donner10.14 | Berlin, DE - Privatclub10.15 | Munich, DE - Hauskonzerte.com10.16 | Offenbach, DE - Hafen 210.17 | Amsterdam, DE  - Paradiso10.19 | Paris, FR - Espace B10.21 | Brighton, UK - Green Door Store10.22 | Gateshead, UK - The Sage ^10.23 | Glasgow, UK - The Hug & Pint10.24 | Leeds, UK - Brudenell Social Club10.27 | London, UK - Moth Club10.28 | Bristol, UK - The Louisiana10.29 | Manchester, UK - The Ritz ^

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and member of celebrated band The Magnetic NorthHannah Peel has announced the release of lead single ‘All That Matters’, taken from her remarkable second solo album ‘Awake But Always Dreaming’. ‘All That Matters’, an electronic dream-pop gem, will be released on 9th September.
The Northern Irish artist and composer is set to release the brand new album on 23rd September, which features 10 new songs plus a cover of Paul Buchanan’s ‘Cars In The Garden’ featuring a duet with Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts). ‘All That Matters’ opens proceedings with a pop mantra of living in the moment – “all that matters is here, sings Peel over layers of electronics.
Talking about the track, Peel said: “I wrote this song as a bittersweet mantra for someone close to me and since then, it seems to have also become my own tune to lift me out of troubled moments. A constant reminder that no matter what life throws at you, to not forget about the ones who will always care, the ones who are standing waiting to welcome you back, the ones who will forever look after you and say simply, they love you. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters, caring and being cared for. Yet to love and not be loved is one of the saddest things of all.”Peel first came to recognition with her mesmerizing, hand-punched ‘music box’ EP ‘Rebox’, featuring covers of ‘80s bands Cocteau Twins, Soft Cell, & New Order. Having released her critically lauded solo debut album ‘The Broken Wave’, Peel then formed The Magnetic North, a highly praised and expansive collaborative project with Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good The Bad And The Queen, Gorillaz) and Erland Cooper (Erland & The Carnival). She also created a series of limited edition EPs, - the increasingly electronic ‘Nailhouse’ in 2013, followed by the stunning analogue beauty of ‘Fabricstate’ in 2014. A year later Peel released ‘Rebox 2’ with music-box covers of ‘Queen’ (originally performed by Perfume Genius), John Grant’s ‘Pale Green Ghosts’, Wild Beasts’ ‘Palace’, as well as her glorious cover of East India Youth’s triumphant ‘Heaven How Long’.2016 has been yet another prolific year for Peel, so far including collaborations with Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve (aka Erol Alkan & Richard Norris) - she features on two BBC6 playlisted singles ‘Diagram Girl’ and ‘Creation’ - and composing under her new synth-based, space-age alter-ego Mary Casio with an experimental piece combining analogue electronics and a 33-piece colliery brass band (which debuted to a sold out Manchester audience in May). Meanwhile The Magnetic North released their critically acclaimed follow up LP ‘Prospect Of Skelmersdale’ in March.Produced and recorded with long-term collaborator Erland Cooper, with orchestrations by Peel, both in their own, richly analogue studio in Shoreditch, London and at Attica Audio in County Donegal, Ireland, her new solo album ‘Awake But Always Dreaming’ is a record about memory: the luminous and beautiful formation of memories and the devastating loss or slow, insidious damage to the mind. “I’ve read 1 in 3 of us will die with dementia, and a third of us are connected to someone with dementia through family and friends”, says Hannah. “850,000 people in the UK alone have it now and 2 in 3 people affected will be women. It’s quite remarkable really, and it’s getting worse”.
