Savoy Motel have unveiled the second single from their debut, eponymous full-length out on What's Your Rupture? Records October 21. "Sorry People" which premiered viaBeats1 is "a song based on the late Jay Reatard's skewed philosophy of never apologizing for anything, even though I remember him telling me he was sorry about countless crazy things in the past" explains bassist / vocalist Jeffrey Novak.
Nashville's Savoy Motel are an intensely orchestrated and unique hybrid of glam rock, boogie, soul, power-pop, garage, punk, dance music and showmanship all rolled into one. Between the four members (Jeffrey Novak, Jessica McFarland, Mimi Galbierz and Dillon Watson) they've previously played in hometown staples like Cheap Time, Heavy Cream and Rat Traps. Their vibe and live show has quickly made fans of The Guardianwho say Savoy "sound like a compendium of great, garish 70s pop moments" andPitchfork who described their first single "Souvenir Shop Rock" as "a promising, genre-busting introduction". The four piece hit the road this fall with The Dandy Warhols in support of Savoy Motel - full list of dates below. Savoy's whole package opens up their horizons, and yours, to a sound made by four friends tired of witnessing music eat its own tail; with unclouded judgment, creative refinements, and peerless technique, they grab that tail and stick it into a wall socket, putting the cap back on 15+ years of rock revivalism and strident genre adherence. And they make it seem easy.
"We use rock and roll as a vehicle to reach and promote the feeling of TOTAL FREEDOM," claims Watson. "Savoy Motel is defined more by a feeling than a sound. I hear this feeling in other acts too ... Miles Davis, Little Richard, the Osborne Brothers, Faust, The Rolling Stones, all the best ones. And the diversity of records I knew TOTAL FREEDOM from was also encouraging to me early on in regards to the band, because it made me realize what potential and widespread appeal our music could have."

Lee Fields & The Expressions to release SPECIAL NIGHT on Nov 4 via Big Crown
LEE FIELDS & THE EXPRESSIONS
TO RELEASE SPECIAL NIGHT ON NOVEMBER 4 VIA BIG CROWN RECORDS
"While others of his era burned out or faded away, Fields is still here,
his voice now more passionate and ecstatic than ever"
- Alex Robert Ross, Noisey
"A sense of wonder permeates Lee Fields' voice. This feeling comes through when he sings with The Expressions, a young band that has absorbed the techniques of early '70s soul.
His stories convey a similar sense of awe."
- Chicago Tribune
New York, NY (August 30, 2016) – It’s hard to find another active singer today that has the background Lee Fields does: a first release in 1969, records on thirteen different labels, and close to 47 years of music making, touring and recording. Backed by The Expressions and their incomparable soul-sound musicianship, Lee Fields will release Special Night on November 4 via Big Crown Records.
Noisey broke the news on Monday, along with a premiere of the title track and an extensive Q&A with Fields. “Special Night” is available now and you can read the full interview with Lee HERE. Special Night is also available for pre-order with the title track as an instant-grat HERE.
Purchase / Hear / Share “Special Night” at Big Crown | Soundcloud | Spotify | iTunes | Apple Music
The formula seems to be two-fold: sticking to the raucous-yet-tender voiced soul music Lee Fields has always made, yet updating it–pushing the boundaries of what it can be. The result is an unmistakable sound, something that, as Pitchfork put it, “isn’t indebted specifically to Atlantic or Stax or Philadelphia International or Chess or Fame or Motown so much as it’s indebted to all of them at once.” This is why no one can call a Lee Fields record on Big Crown a “throwback.” It has hints, sounds, and feelings that may be familiar but then there are textures, themes, and approaches that challenge the genre and stretch the sound into something else, something decidedly Lee Fields.
Possessing a voice that’s equally raucous and tender, North Carolina native Fields, crafts a truly honest, soulful work. "This is a record about what people do in real life,” says the singer. For one example, he cites the yearning "Work to Do", which entails a "a guy going to counseling, drinking too much, apologizing to the old lady and trying to keep family together, doing the manly thing."
Adds Fields: “When I record, I make every song like I actually mean it. I mean every word I say. On 'Special Night' I’m talking to my lady — literally, expressing the way I feel. You can tell if a song is real or not. And every moment I’m recording, those moments are real.”
Meanwhile, album standout “Make This World” works both as militaristic funk and a cautionary tale about the health of the planet. “The world was designed to last indefinitely,” says Fields. “And we’re the only living species on Earth who can alter that process. I’m hoping that song has a chain reaction, helps somebody put into action whatever contribution they can to change what the world is going through.”
Fields and his six-piece band will tour in the fall, where he notes the audiences seem to be growing and changing. “I’m seeing a younger crowd,” he notes. “And that’s a blessing.”
From sold-out shows in music meccas like New York City, L.A., Chicago, Berlin, London, and Amsterdam to TV performances in France, the UK, and Germany–there is a perfection and evolution of the soul sound from Lee Fields & The Expressions that everyone needs to hear.

SLEIGH BELLS Announce New Album 'Jessica Rabbit' + Share Track
SLEIGH BELLS
Jessica Rabbit
November 11th, 2016(Torn Clean / Sinderlyn)
Sleigh Bells -- Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss -- have announced their first new album in three years. Entitled
Jessica Rabbit
, the album -- which was produced by the band and mixed by Andrew Dawson (Kanye West, Tyler, the Creator) -- will be released on November 11th, 2016 as the inaugural release on the band's own label, Torn Clean, in partnership with Sinderlyn. A video for the album-opening track "It's Just Us Now," directed by Derek Miller, can be seen HERE. Previously released tracks "Rule Number One" and "Hyper Dark" are included on the album. When Sleigh Bells first emerged in 2009, they combined sonic elements that had never co-existed before, pushing sounds to and past their limits to create an entirely new left-field pop music. Their widely-acclaimed debut album Treats, and its metal-leaning follow-up Reign of Terror, established them as innovators in the pop landscape, crossing the abrasiveness of punk with the most raucous dance party ever attended. But by the time they released 2013's celebrated Bitter Rivals -- their third album in almost as many years -- Miller and Krauss began to feel hemmed in by their own aesthetic. And so began the process of writing and recording the mercurial Jessica Rabbit, one that began, stopped, and started over again many times throughout the last three years. They tried on new instrumentation, swapping guitars for a synth pad; they tried on different time signatures, letting ever-stranger drum machine sounds punctuate their beats; and for the first time ever they brought someone outside of the band into the creative process, working with Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Fiona Apple) to shape five of the band's favorite tracks on the album. The result is an album that does not sound like anything Sleigh Bells has ever done -- or anyone has ever done, for that matter. It is the sonic equivalent of firing synapses, with melodies zig-zagging in different directions in a beautiful and ever-modulating controlled chaos. It is playful but darkly so; flirtatious but caustic; ebullient but downright sinister. Singer Alexis Krauss has moved from the baby coo of the band's earlier material into full powerhouse mode, singing with a visceral urgency that was absent from previous releases. Tempo changes stretch the songs in different directions, like an attention span gone haywire. It is a record that is wholly unique in sound and purpose, an unabashed and unafraid statement from a band that has made offending rote conceptions of pop music their signature and greatest strength. Sleigh Bells will be hitting the road in support of Jessica Rabbit this fall -- dates below. All original artwork in the Jessica Rabbit album package is by Brian Montuori.

OG OC Punk Rikk Agnew’s new LP Learn from the Rikk Agnew Band on Frontier Records out Oct. 14

PUNK NEWS: OG OC Punk Rikk Agnew’s new LP Learn from the Rikk Agnew Band on Frontier Records out Oct. 14 Dearest "Kids of the Black Hole” Adolescents. Christian Death. D.I. Social Distortion. The Detours. Naughty Women. ADZ. 45 Grave. Anyone who has paid attention to music over the last 35+ years has even a passing knowledge of most of these iconic SoCal/Orange County punk & goth bands. But what many of you might NOT know is that singer/guitarist/lyricist Rikk Agnew played a pretty huge part in bringing these bands the recognition they so richly deserve. What’s more, any punk worth his weight in the pit knows is that in 1982, Rikk released an audacious punk solo album, All By Myself, which he wrote, sang and played all the instruments on. This was not only unheard of in 1982, it was also unthinkable. It’s part of the reason why Agnew is known as the ‘Brian Wilson of punk’. On October 14, Frontier Records and Rikk Agnew (whose history go back more than three decades) are set to release The Rikk Agnew Band’s debut full-length LP (no CDs!) Learn. Featuring 12 high-octane tunes that are sure to continue the legacy of punk’s reigning genius, they chronicle a larger story of recovery that is both shocking and remarkable - a la the cover of the LP. Direct from the Paris, French pop connoisseurs La Femme will release new album Mystère on the world this September. Hailing from Le Pré Saint Gervais and Ivry-sur-Seine’s winding rues, La Femme have made a huge mark on modern Paris's cultural landscape, with the two sides of the city – the glamour and the grit - engrained in their music.
Debut album Psycho Tropical Berlin topped the French digital charts and the band won Best New Band of the year at the French Music Awards, they return with a more psychedelic sound and a range of guest vocalists that slice through the starkest of electro beats. "Nothing is frozen. La Femme is a solar system,” explains Sacha of his band’s all-inclusive philosophy. “We don't like the idea of having a leader or a chief: everyone brings to the band what they can and want..... It also suggests that the woman is a mystery."
The bands latest video for Septembre sees the band replace their three piece suits and neckerchiefs for lighter attire, taking a trip to the beach alongside guest vocalist Angela Hureau and hitting the surf.
The rest of the album was recorded between a castle in Brittany and a Paris basement before being finished up with Sonny Diperri (Animal Collective) in LA, Mystère once again sees backgrounds blurred and worlds collide. The band’s chic retro-futurist surf-pop sound possesses the same dose of glamorous punk stomp as before, but this time around its layered with an elegant fusion of influences from Ennio Morricone, Marie Et Les Garcons’ disco-rock touch and the lysergic romanticism of The Velvet Underground. Through increased use of strings and further exploration of sound, Mystère also incorporates the band’s new love of oriental sounds, Turkish disco, Tuareg blues, medieval psychedelia to mainstays Brian Eno and Pink Floyd.
“Slow down, take it easy, put Mystère on the record player and allow yourself to be taken far away...” they say. Liberté, égalité, fraternité. Everyone can be a part of La Femme’s world – and it has never felt more alive.

“Slow down, take it easy, put Mystère on the record player and allow yourself to be taken far away...” they say. Liberté, égalité, fraternité. Everyone can be a part of La Femme’s world – and it has never felt more alive.

"The lo-fi camera work and murky lighting are a perfect match for the track, whose jangling rhythm guitars are overpowered by ugly overdriven leads, suggesting Neil Young migrating into and steadily taking over The Byrds" - FLOOD
"Vocals from bandleader Bobby Hecksher weaving wearily through static sonic terrain with the gusto of a jaded vagabond — which is a lot more pleasing than that description may sound."
- SPINPsych-rock mainstays The Warlocks have shared their new track "Only You" via Flaunt. The song is from their upcoming album Songs From The Pale Eclipse , which is available September 2nd on Cleopatra Records. You can pre-order it now on iTunes.Formed in America during 1999, The Warlocks produce a relentless, hypnotic wall of sound that suggests a collision between classic psychedelia, Krautrock and Velvet Underground style rock and roll. It's just what the head doctor orders if you wish to be an underground stateside phenomenon and that's exactly what The Warlocks became. Front man Bobby Hecksher grew up in the swamps of Tampa Bay, Florida where he was practically raised at a radio station owned his grandfather and where his mum also worked as a secretary. As a result Bobby was soon eating and breathing rock'n'roll on a daily basis. Bobby recalls, "My granddad was an inspiration. He created the radio station out of thin air. And from it all these nuggets of rock'n'roll came toward me".At sixteen his family left the swamps and moved to LA where Bobby soon found kindred spirits. He jammed with Beck, playing bass on Stereopathetic Soulmanure, Beck’s second independently released album. He hung out in the decadent atmosphere of the Mad Hatter club and moonlighted in the Brian Jonestown Massacre whilst also attending parties with legendary acid guru Timothy Leary, a potent cultural and creative mix that led to the formation of The Warlocks.Their debut album Rise & Fall (Bomp 2000) set out their template, allowing The Warlocks to build upon their reputation as a forceful live act. But it was the band's signing of a worldwide deal with Mute (in conjunction with City Rockers in the UK and with Birdman in America) that led to the release of Phoenix (2003) a record that raised their profile significantly. The album's varying moods and atmospheres range from the driving power of "Shake the Dope Out" to the 14-minute, hallucinogenic opus "Oh Shadie." International touring in support of the release and the sheer power of Warlock’s gigantic live sound built a worldwide cult following for the band that has only grown and intensified.2005 saw Hecksher and company team up with veteran producer Tom Rothrock (Beck, Elbow, Motörhead) for the band’s third album, the dreamy blissed-out Surgery. After some significant changes in personnel, the band returned just 2 years later with the darker Heavy Deavy Skull Lover released on Tee Pee Records, followed by 2009’s The Mirror Explodes produced by Rod Cervera and Joey Santiago of The Pixies. All the while, the band continued to develop their sound and grow their fanbase, and after a somewhat longer hiatus, the Warlocks returned in 2013 withSkull Worship. For The Warlock’s newest album, Hecksher has dug deep into the demo vault for the most promising, undiscovered musical treasures, which the band then reworked and re-recorded to bring you Songs From The Pale Eclipse. Hecksher explains, “Songs From The Pale Eclipse is a collection I’ve been wanting to get to for the last decade or so. We’ve sifted through stacks of demos, odds and ends on my 8-track…not everything fits like it’s one cohesive album; it’s not supposed to! In this modern age, you can pick and choose as you like!”The first single from Songs From The Pale Eclipse, “Lonesome Bulldog,” features Hecksher’s solemn, yet seductive, raspy voice paired perfectly with melodic guitars that chime and swirl and sharp, tight drums. Hecksher’s poetic lyrics, such as “trying to unwind the time, falling through the mirror, with acid on my mind” from the track “We Took All The Acid” are playful yet articulate. “Drinking Song” is complete with visionary themes of the personification of alcohol and deep moods that reveal the pain of alcoholism, expressed by the line “oh alcohol, you know me too well.” The album’s deft production illuminates the multi-textured instrumentation and harmonically-rich vocals. All together, the effortless sounds of Songs From The Pale Eclipse will leave the listener intoxicated.

THE PRETTY RECKLESS SCORE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE # 1 ROCK HIT WITH NEW SINGLE "TAKE ME DOWN"

THE ALBUM WHO YOU SELLING FOR OUTOCTOBER 21 ON RAZOR & TIE

August 29, 2016 - The Pretty Reckless smashes it! "Take Me Down," the first single from the upcoming album Who You Selling For, has reached #1 on the rock chart, after just 7 short weeks. This milestone marks the fourth consecutive #1 for the band who broke records as the first female-fronted band to have three chart toppers in a row with "Heaven Knows," "Messed Up World" and "Follow Me Down" (all from 2014's Going To Hell) - a feat that has not been accomplished since The Pretenders in 1984, over 30 years ago. "The Pretty Reckless are the most exciting new band in rock. Taylor Momsen is a star, and we take a great deal of pride in helping the band break through in a genre largely dominated by male artists," says Razor & Tie Co-founder Cliff Chenfeld. "This is just the beginning." The Pretty Reckless's extraordinary third studio album Who You Selling For is set for release on October 21. Produced by longtime collaborator Kato Khandwala, Who You Selling For expands the band's sound to encompass soul, blues and rock and roll. The songs were written by front womanTaylor Momsen and guitarist Ben Phillips. Momsen's dark lyrics and raw, charismatic vocals are on full display and the band delivers at full intensity with a level of musicianship that raises the bar. TPR hits the road this fall in support of the album, hitting major markets in the US and wrapping on December 6th in Los Angeles. The Pretty Reckless is managed by DAS Communications, Ltd.

Original Misfits members announce Dave Lombardo as drummer for reunion shows
ORIGINAL MISFITS MEMBERS ANNOUNCE DAVE LOMBARDO AS DRUMMER FOR REUNION SHOWS
One Of The World's Most Iconic Bands Set To Make Reunion In September At The Two Riot Fests

After months of speculation, the ORIGINAL MISFITS announce that drummer Dave Lombardo will join them for their two Riot Fest dates (Denver, September 4th and Chicago, September 18th). The original drummer for Slayer, Lombardo will be providing his propulsive beat behind Original MISFITS members Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, with longtime guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein. Danzig and Only will be playing together on stage for the first time since 1983. Lombardo says of joining the band for the dates, "The Misfits created the horror punk attitude and had a massive influence on modern rock, punk and metal. It was an easy decision for me to join them for these monumental shows. I was honored to be asked, and am very excited to be playing with the band. Judging by the rehearsals alone, Misfits fans will not be disappointed- this is everything they could have hoped for and more." Glenn Danzig says, "I first met Dave back in '88 when DANZIG did four shows with Slayer in the U.S., before the first DANZIG album was released. Dave is one of the best drummers around, and I can't wait for everyone to see him pounding MISFITS songs live for these special shows." Jerry Only says, "Dave Lombardo is a master at what he does. With the immensity of the two shows we're planning together, the biggest decision we had was who is going to keep time and power this monster machine on drums? When Dave Lombardo's name was thrown into the ring, Glenn and I were immediately on the same page from the very start, a good sign of things to come. I think the darker side of punk we created with the MISFITS spawned the growth and evolution of punk into thrash, and sired bands like Metallica and Slayer, just as we inspired countless others in the punk revolution." The influence of the MISFITS, their music and iconic imagery, extends well beyond punk rock, spanning a wide variety of musical genresand into pop culture itself-on a global level. And for the first time in over three decades, fans from around the world will have the opportunity to witness the Original Band that created thousands of others in their wake.
