Wilco Shares New Song “Someone To Lose" from forthcoming Schmilco

Easthampton, MA – August 29, 2016 – Wilco shares a new song today called “Someone To Lose” from the forthcoming album Schmilco. The song is streaming now at Wilcoworld.net and is available as a free download to anyone who pre-orders Schmilco before its official September 9 release.
Wilco is encouraging fans to gather together on September 6 at local independent record stores across North America to hear Schmilco for the first time. Stores hosting “I Heard Schmilco” parties are currently located in 48 US states, with additional locations in Canada and a special listening engagement at the End of the Road Festival in North Dorset, UK. Stores will play the album in its entirety, on vinyl, and offer attendees a chance to win unique prizes including slipmats featuring album-cover artist Joan Cornella’s artwork. A current list of participating stores is HERE. Vinyl copies of Schmilco will be available for purchase on Sept. 6 across the US at all retail outlets (physical stores and online shops) and all formats (CD & online) will be available on Sept. 9 worldwide.
Wilco is unveiling a series of short video clips this week through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to promote the in-store events. The first clip was created by John Hodgman and features the comedian in the Bangor, ME airport with a giraffe. See it HERE and watch for more videos this week.

The album was co-produced by Julian Casablancas (The Strokes / Founder of Cult Records) and Shawn Everett (this year's Grammy Award winner for his work with Alabama Shakes). City Club was recorded earlier this year in Everett's studio in downtown Los Angeles, which served as inspiration for the album title and cover art. Known for their relentless touring schedule and DIY work ethic, the band is one of the most exciting independent success stories of recent years. Casablancas states: "The Growlers may be the most interesting band in the world, certainly one of the coolest. Nor gypsy, nor goth, nor surfer, nor punk, yet somehow all of them." From the disco skronk of title track "City Club" to the William Onyeabor-inspired Afrogroove of "I'll Be Around," the record marks a twist on their Beach Goth sonics. It's still a swirl of reggae, punk, ragged country, and twangy psychedelia, but now with prominent synthesizers, danceable beats and some serious anthems. Lead singer/songwriter Brooks Nielsen states: "I was really into Afrofunk when we made this record," says Brooks, "and a lot of English 70s punk I listened to as a kid, particularly when Jamaica was mixing in with all the punk kids." The album's title track, "City Club," premiered last night via SiriusXMU on Casablancas' new radio show, Culture Void. The Growlers will head back out on the road this fall in both in support of the new album with dates in North America, Mexico and Europe. The 20 date US trek culminates with a return home to headline their 5th Annual Beach Goth Festival on October 22and 23in Orange County, California. To celebrate the release, Gluck has also shared a visual accompaniment for track “ Wolf ” which is about fearless and fierce craving. The video, which premiered on Spin’s Pure Volume , is a dark, intimate piece that mirrors the sentiments of the song.
Pony Show’s narrative touches on perseverance amid the captivity of love, loss, and limbo. Produced, composed, and recorded by Gluck herself, the album demonstrates Heidi’s ability to transport listeners, taking cues from the tradition of her heroes and fellow Canadian exports, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young. Her sophisticated arrangements provide a strong foundation for melancholy lyrics sung with a delicate, self-assured, and authentic voice.
Gluck released her first solo EP, “The Only Girl In The Room” in 2015, which featured her understated vocal style, clever arrangements, and confessional lyrics. Having collaborated with Juliana Hatfield’s Some Girls, Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos, Lily & Madeline, Simrit, and many more, Gluck is a veteran player and session musician who has offered bass, guitar, piano, keys, background vocals, accordion, and lap steel on over 30 albums.

The duo, which is Terra Lopez and Dani Fernandez, released a statement that read in part: "Change is always scary territory but we feel that the Sister Crayon name is something that no longer represents who we are. Produced alongside Wes Jones and Omar Rodriguez Lopez (The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In), Devoted's initial release in 2015 landed it on many indie "Top Ten Albums of 2015" lists. Due to its ultra-limited initial release, Warner Bros. Records decided to remix, remaster and re-release the album after the duo signed with the label in February of 2016.Devoted's newly mastered by studio legend Tom Coyne (Led Zeppelin, Adele). Terra Lopez and Dani Fernandez have been making their mark on the West Coast as electronic workhorses since 2009. After years of building a loyal fanbase in California by playing countless house shows and selling out local establishments, the duo began touring relentlessly throughout the states with the likes of The Album Leaf, Built to Spill, Antemasque, Le Butcherettes, Maps & Atlases, Doomtree and more. Terra writes "It was a mantra that I repeated under my breath on a daily basis when the loss I was experiencing felt too heavy at times. Music, the act of creating, performing, touring, writing, singing, experimenting - all the rituals we have created to get through life." Joshua Tree’s synthpop coterie Chelan release their fourth full-length today Vultures. Its been a busy couple of years for Chelan (sh-lan). The american synth/indie pop band (based out of Joshua Tree CA) immediately started the planning process for their newest album Vultures after the early 2015 release of their 4th full length album Equal Under Pressure. Chelan, who formed in California in 2007, is historically the duo of classical music teacher Jennifer Grady and film/tv music composer Justin Hosford. After a series of live performances and writing sessions, the group spent a year meeting for long periods of time at Hosford's studio in Joshua Tree and producer Matt Drenik's studio in Portland, Oregon. In addition to bringing on Drenik to co-produce the album with Hosford, they linked up with Doug Boehm (Guided by Voices, Girls) to mix a handful of tracks.
Vultures is Chelan's most ambitious studio effort to date but they were also careful to ensure they can replicate the album during live performances. When asked about the writing process for Vultures Hosford says "Its been a fun challenge morphing from the mostly electronic, subdued indie aesthetic of our last couple albums to the wall of sound, big production synth pop thing we went for on this record."
