Middle Kids Make Light Night TV Debut on Conan
MIDDLE KIDS MAKE LATE NIGHT TV DEBUT PLAYING "EDGE OF TOWN" ON CONAN SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP STREAMING NOW AT STEREOGUM
NORTH AMERICAN TOUR, INCLUDING SXSW, STARTS NEXT WEEK

Middle Kids are back on US soil and have just made their late night TV debut, playing radio favorite "Edge Of Town" on Conan. The band gave a confident performance, proving why they are one of the most talked about new bands to emerge in 2017. WATCH MIDDLE KIDS PERFORM ON CONAN Stereogum streamed Middle Kids' self-titled debut EP today, saying that the songs "reveal new flashes of brilliance with each pass, often in the form of an artfully slashing guitar riff or a passionately bellowed vocal from lead singer Hannah Joy."
STREAM MIDDLE KIDS AT STEREOGUM
Last night's performance is the first of many shows for Middle Kids who have a huge North American tour booked, including several dates opening for Cold War Kids and a stint at this year's SXSW - details below. WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "EDGE OF TOWN" WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "NEVER START" More on Middle Kids: Australia's Middle Kids, led by vocalist / guitarist Hannah Joy and producer / multi-instrumentalist Tim Fitz, with Harry Day on drums, first came to public attention in May 2016 with the release of their debut single "Edge Of Town." Sir Elton John declared himself a fan of the song, added it to his Apple Music playlist and aired it on his Beats 1 radio show. Major Australian radio station Triple J placed the song on high rotation, and before long, it was frequently played on radio stations across the world, earning the band a slot at Iceland Airwaves, a performance on Conan, and a label home in Domino. To date, "Edge Of Town" has accumulated more than 3.5 million streams on Spotify. Not bad for a band that hadn't played a single show before recording their first track. Middle Kids' debut self-titled EP is out this Friday on Domino.

Bonfire Nights announce tour dates and share new video for ‘Heart’s To Blame’

Following the release of their thunderous debut album, ‘Entopica Phenomica’, London-based psych-rock quartet Bonfire Nights have announced an epic thirteen date March tour. To coincide with their Europe-wide adventure, they’ve shared the brand new video for ‘Heart’s To Blame’.
Founders Steve Foster and Ruth Nitkiewicz travelled to the secluded Outer Hebrides in Scotland in order to write material for their next record, finding a productive clarity being away from a January in the city. It was in this isolated and natural environment that they filmed the new video.
“It was shot on a beach on the Isle of Benbecula” Ruth tells us, “The weather is absolutely wild up here - our first few days were spent sheltering indoors from the storms and gale force winds. When there was a break in the weather, we ventured out to a nearby beach. There wasn't another soul to be seen for miles. We set up our camera and just started shooting, with only a few loose ideas to guide us.
I climbed on the rocks and danced on the sand, letting the wind whip around me. There is an unseen force here, something that allowed us to harness the melancholy of the song.”
This deserted setting casts the perfect backdrop to the moody, enchanting rhythm of the track as frontman Foster channels the spirit of Ian Curtis at his best. Filmed themselves, ‘Heart’s To Blame’ is a hypnotic and romantic look at Bonfire Nights doing what they do best, producing layered psychedelia with anthemic duel vocals that will stay with you for days.
‘Entopica Phenomica’, released late last year, saw rave reviews from the likes of Drowned In Sound, Clash Magzine, Loud And Quiet, The Beatand more. The band also supported LA Witch, The Warlocks and Dead Rabbits in that time before taking a break to write and prepare for their upcoming string of live dates.

Minus the Bear are thrilled to share second single, “Last Kiss,” off their forthcoming sixth full-length, VOIDS, which is due out March 3rd on Seattle’s Suicide Squeeze Records. Noisey has praised the album’s “dichotomy between dark imagery and danceable, inventive rock”, and Paste described lead single “Invisible” as “a stuffed-to-the-gills, aural blowout of a song.” Premiering today on AV Club, “Last Kiss” is the latest preview from the forthcoming album. “‘Last Kiss’ is another step in Minus the Bear’s evolution,” writes AV Club, “one that’s seen it continue defying expectations and exploring new sounds with each new album.” The band will soon be embarking on a 29-date spring tour across North America, culminating in a hometown Seattle show on April 15th. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.

For the past 15 years Minus the Bear have made music on their own terms while carving out their own unique musical world, selling over 500k records in the process and playing to countless sold out crowds along the way. This isn’t to say they’re impervious to outside influence. They’ve borrowed components from a wide swath of genres—the brainy clangor of New York’s proto-punk scene, the cerebral buzz of IDM, the poptimist evaluation of hip-hop and R&B, and the grandiose visions of prog rock—but always managed to defy classification.
Throughout the first decade of their existence, every new album offered a new musical approach, as seen in the idiosyncratic fretboard gymnastics of Highly Refined Pirates, the glitchy loops of Menos el Oso, or the modernized Fripp- inspired wizardry of Planet of Ice. By the time the band entered our current decade, their knack for reinvention yielded to an emphasis on refinement. Albums like OMNI and Infinity Overhead searched for a middle ground where their myriad of stylistic approaches could all work within the context of a single record.
On their sixth album VOIDS, produced by Sam Bell (The Cribs, Weezer, Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club), Minus the Bear started with a blank slate, and inadvertently found themselves applying the same starting-from-scratch strategies that fueled their initial creative process. “There was a lot of change and uncertainty,” says guitarist David Knudson. “I think the general vibe of emptiness, replacement, lacking, and longing to fill in the gaps was very present in everyones’ minds.”
Change was everywhere. Keyboardist/vocalist Alex Rose took on a more prominent role in composition and handled lead vocal duties in Jake Snider’s stead on songs like “Call the Cops,” “Tame Beasts,” and “Robotic Heart,” drummer Kiefer Matthias joined the fold, producer Bell lent a fresh set of ears in the studio, and the band returned to their original label home at Suicide Squeeze Records. Minus the Bear were no longer swept along by the momentum that had driven them for the last fifteen years. Instead, they reached a point where they could recalibrate and redefine who they were as a musical entity. The resulting album VOIDS retains many of the band’s signature qualities—the hedonistic tales of nighttime escapism and candid vignettes of adulthood, the savvy up-tempo beats, the layered and nuanced instrumentation—while simultaneously reminding us of the musical wanderlust that initially put them on the map.
Minus The Bear is Jake Snider (vocals, guitar), Dave Knudson (guitar), Cory Murchy (bass guitar), and Alex Rose (synthesizers, vocals).
Suicide Squeeze Records is proud to release VOIDS to the world on March 3rd, 2017 on CD, LP and cassette. The first pressing of the album is available on 1,000 copies of Electric Blue (Minus The Bear exclusive) vinyl, 5,000 copies of splatter colored vinyl and 5,000 copies of 180 gram black vinyl. The LP jacket features PMS inks, a die-cut cover with a printed inner sleeve and contains a download code. The cassette version is limited to 500 copies and also includes a download code.

Clipping have teamed up with director Anna Zlokovic for the disturbing “Back Up” video [feat. Antwon and Signor Benedick the Moor], a highlight from the group’s Wriggle EP [watch here].
Zlokovic says of the visual, “Through the perspective of an unnamed filmmaker, we stumble upon an accidental and horrifying discovery. What begins as a curious exploration of an abandoned warehouse quickly devolves into the uncovering and filming of an underground, cult-like society—one where adults have baby faces and milk is the drug of choice.”
The “Back Up” video marks another collaboration between Anna, Aporkalypse and Clipping’s members (most specifically, Jonathan Snipes recently contributed sound design for the film, Shorty). Additionally, Zlokovic’s films (based in the psychological sci-fi, psychological horror, body horror genre) and music videos have screened internationally at festivals including SXSW, Santa Barbara Int'l Film Festival, and Fantasia Int'l Film Festival. Her perspective often finds itself joining the cerebral and humanistic, hanging out in a realm where a more fantastical reality meets the mundane.
"Back Up" was also filmed at The Smell––an all-ages DIY music venue in Los Angeles. The Smell has remained a pillar of the LA underground music scene since its founding in the 90's and is now set for demolition––which has incited a bevy of support for the venue amongst LA musicians/fans. Clipping has played at the TheSmell many times & has a long-standing relationship with co-founder Jim Smith. It seemed like a particularly apt place to film––both for aesthetic and sentimental purposes, and in service of the current #savethesmell campaign.

Chaz Bundick Meets The Mattson 2 shared the latest taste of their forthcoming collaborative album Star Stuff today with the freewheeling new track "JBS." In an interview with Consequence of Sound, Chaz says, "The whole song kind of has this weaving, bluesy vibe about it. And me, just the life that I'm living, I was jet-lagged when I wrote the lyrics... It's about pretty much just being lazy for no reason, but you kind of have a reason because you're just exhausted. No matter how much rest you get, you're always still a little bit exhausted, but you just go with it."

"JBS" and previously released single "Star Stuff" will appear on Star Stuff, due out March 31 on Company Records. Pre-orders are available now via Company and Tickets to Chaz Bundick Meets The Mattson 2's spring tour are on sale now.

Nikki Lane's Highway Queen Now Streaming At Entertainment Weekly, Out Feb 17 On New West Records
NIKKI LANE RETURNS WITH HIGHWAY QUEEN FEBRUARY 17th, 2017
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY PREMIERES FULL ALBUM STREAM
THE STAGECOACH SPOTLIGHT NIKKI LANE HIGHWAY QUEEN TOUR KICKS OFF FEBRUARY 22nd [image error] “As unapologetic as Johnny Cash’s middle finger.” Rolling Stone Nikki Lane will release her anticipated third album, Highway Queen, via New West Records next week on Friday, February 17th, 2017. The 10-song set sees the young Nashville rebel emerge as one of Outlaw Country and rock’s most gifted songwriters and was co-produced by Lane and fellow singer-songwriter Jonathan Tyler. Recorded in Denton, TX at Matt Pence’s Echo Lab Studio as well as Club Roar in Nashville, TN with Collin Dupuis, Highway Queen features the Texas Gentlemen as her band and blends potent lyrics, unbridled blues guitars and vintage Sixties country-pop swagger. Entertainment Weekly has premiered the full album stream before the release of the record, which can be found HERE. Of the "boisterous" and "raucous" new album, Entertainment Weekly notes, "The last several years of touring had taught her that the more personal the fare, the more fans connected to her." Explaining further, "Across Queen‘s 10 tracks, Lane shares plenty. On ‘Big Mouth’ she calls out a fellow Music City artist for badmouthing one of their industry-mates. ‘Jackpot’ sees her admire her luck in finding Tyler and on the title track she admires her dream alter-ego." Vice’s music site Noisey featured an in-depth interview with Lane and praised, “Highway Queen is a forceful, rollicking collection of fiery country tunes that places her toe-to-toe with any outlaw in Nashville." Billboard Magazine previously premiered the video for the new single “Jackpot,” which can be seen HERE. Directed by Chris Phelps, Jackpot features the El Cortez Hotel and Casino, as well as a cameo from Jesse Amoroso from Cowtown Guitars and the hit show Pawn Stars. Additionally, the first video for the album’s title track premiered via Rolling Stone Country stating, "It's gritty Southern rock with an extra spike of danger – her guitars always sound like they're running from the law, the drumbeat rolling on the adrenaline of a high-speed chase. Like the vintage she curates for her store, High Class Hillbilly, she's an expert at making relics of the past feel free of any time or place. Somehow, her breed of country is as futuristic as it is Seventies outlaw, probably because she's more intent on invention than emulation." Highway Queen will be available digitally, on compact disc, LP and is available now for pre-order via Nikki Lane’s Official Website. Nikki Lane will appear at this year’s Stagecoach Festival on Saturday, April 29th. The Stagecoach Spotlight Nikki Lane Highway Queen Tour kicks off on February 22nd in Birmingham, AL and features special guests Jonathan Tyler, as well as Brent Cobb, and Robert Ellis on select dates. Please see below for full tour details and watch Lane's exclusive interview with AXS about Stagecoach and the upcoming shows HERE. Coming from the tradition of tough-talking women like Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson, The Guardian stated, “Lane manages to sound like both Lykke Li and Loretta Lynn, mixing saloon-ready arrangements with vulnerable and confessional lyrics.” Her rapid rise in music is thanks to the critical acclaim of her debut record Walk of Shame and 2014’s Dan Auerbach-produced All of Nothin’. The latter’s sandpaper voice beneath a ten-gallon hat solidified Lane as the new sound and look of outlaw country music. With Highway Queen, 2017 is poised to be Lane’s major mainstream breakthrough. The album is a journey through heartbreak that takes exquisite turns. It begins with a whiskey-soaked homage to Lane’s hometown (“700,000 Rednecks”) and ends on the profoundly raw “Forever Lasts Forever,” where Lane belts freely, mourning a failed marriage - the “lighter shade of skin” left behind from her wedding ring. Elsewhere, “Companion” is pure Everly Brothers dreaminess - “I would spend a lifetime, playing catch you if I can.” She goes on a Vegas bender on the rollicking “Jackpot,” fights last-call blues on “Foolish Heart” and tosses off brazen one-liners at a backroom piano on “Big Mouth.” “Love is the most unavoidable thing in the world,” Lane says. “The person you pick could be half set-up to destroy your life with their own habits -- I’ve certainly experienced that before and taken way too long to get out of that mistake.” Lane, a Greenville, South Carolina native is also a fashion entrepreneur as the owner of the popular vintage clothing boutique High Class Hillbilly. She has lived - and been heartbroken in - Los Angeles, New York and Nashville, so it’s no surprise that her music seamlessly crosses musical genres with lyrics steeped in the doomed perseverance only a true dark horse romantic knows. Like a true wanderer, her sound crisscrosses musical genres with ease, while the lonesome romantic in her remains. Highway Queen Track List:1. 700,000 Rednecks 2. Highway Queen 3. Lay You Down 4.
