New Album Whatever Witch You Are Out June 16

East & West Coast Tour Starts June 14

New York City’s Dead Heavens, the psych-rock project of guitarist and frontman Walter Schreifels (Vanishing Life, Gorilla Biscuits, Rival Schools, Quicksand, and more), Paul Kostabi (Youth Gone Mad, White Zombie, Psychotica), Drew Thomas (Youth of Today, Bold, Into Another), and Nathan Aguilar (Cults), have released the 7’’ record for their song “Isn’t Wrong” today.  The 7’’ can be found at your local indie store using this siteand comes with a 2 dollar off coupon for Dead Heavens forthcoming album  Whatever Witch You Are , out June 16 on Dine Alone Records. Listen and share “Isn’t Wrong”here, and pre-order the album here.

Walter Schreifels tells Brooklyn Vegan about “Isn’t Wrong”: “There's the argument that great bands let awesome songs slip into non-album b-side status for the benefit of the true fans who will seek them out and hold them close. My favorite Beatles song is Rain for example, a non-album B-side, so's Child Of The Moon by the Rolling Stones. It's by this logic that we put Isn't Wrong out as a non-album B-side or at least that's how the other guys in the band talked me into going along with the idea because I think it's definitely one of our best songs.”

Dead Heavens will kick off their east and west coast record release tour in New Haven, CT on June 14. Full dates below.

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark Share "Isotype" Video On NPR | On World Tour This Summer/Fall | 'Punishment Of Luxury' Out 9/1

ORCHESTRAL MANOEUVRES IN THE DARK SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "ISOTYPE" ON NPR

GOING ON WORLD TOUR THIS SUMMER/FALL

'THE PUNISHMENT OF LUXURY', OUT 9/1/2017 ON WHITE NOISEWATCH & SHARE: OMD - "ISOTYPE"Written, recorded, produced and mixed by OMD – Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys – ‘Isotype’ is taken from the duo’s brilliant new album ‘The Punishment Of Luxury’; a daring collection of stylish synth pop and masterful song writing that will rank alongside their very best.

Boasting an infectious synth line and soaring melody ‘Isotype’ sees the band address the issues of communication and technology within the 21st century.  Speaking of the track Andy said ‘"It’s about the modern world where our communication value systems are so reduced that you wonder if we’re actually getting any clear point across’.

Having played a triumphant sold out show at the Royal Albert Hall in May last year, OMD head back out on the road again this autumn for a string of must-see shows, including a show at The Roundhouse November 13th.

Synth-pop pioneers OMD return with their dazzling 13th studio album ‘The Punishment of Luxury’ which sees them combine the wistful nostalgia and idealized romance of their previous work while stepping out of their comfort zone. The LP is out September 1st on White Noise Records.

The follow up to the critically acclaimed ‘English Electric’ (released in 2013) ‘The Punishment Of Luxury’ is a daring collection of stylish synth pop and masterful songwriting which will certainly rank alongside their very best.

Written, recorded, produced and mixed by OMD – Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys – the album is the sound of a band in their prime. ‘On this album we have managed to make beautiful things out of noises and repetitive patterns’, explains Andy. ‘The trouble is, we just cant help but write a catchy melody!’

The album takes its name from an 1891 painting by the Italian Giovani Segantini and contains everything from the Kraftwerkian ‘Isotype’ and ‘Robot Man’ to the blue eyed soul ballads of ‘One More Time’ and ‘The View From Here’ as well as more traditional OMD songs like ‘Kiss Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Bang’ and the synth heavy title track.
Described by The Quietus as “not just one of the best synth bands ever – they are one of the best bands ever”, OMD’s influence has become ubiquitous. The xx, the Killers and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy have cited OMD as an inspiration, and the likes of Future Islands and Chvrches show traces of OMD’s DNA.

AFROPUNK ATLANTA ANNOUNCES LINEUP

AFROPUNK ANNOUNCES 2ND EDITION OF ATLANTA FESTIVAL: THE CARNIVAL OF CONSCIOUSNESS
TO TAKE PLACE OCTOBER 14/15
LINEUP TO INCLUDE SOLANGE, WILLOW SMITH, DANNY BROWN, FLATBUSH ZOMBIES, YOUNG FATHERS, JAMILA WOODS AND MORE
TICKETS: http://afropunkfest.com/atlanta/tickets/
AFROPUNK has announced its 2nd edition of  AFROPUNK Presents the Carnival of Consciousness Atlanta for October 14th and 15th. Taking place in Atlanta's 787 Windsor, it's as much a festival as a blank space to be communally created where a variety of like-minded people come together to put forth process and exchange innovative ideas, forming a new type of immersive gathering.  Performers will include Solange, Willow Smith, Danny Brown, Flatbush Zombies, Young Fathers, Algiers, Moses Sumney, Sam Dew, Jamila Woods and many more (full lineup below).
A weekend-long, retreat of music, art, salons, film, and lectures, AFROPUNK Presents The Carnival of Consciousness Atlanta 2nd edition will be a festival of contemporary black expression and youthful black consciousness. Towards that end, the work presented here - live music and sound performances, art installations, and the like - will feature collaborations across genres and disciplines, and no physical boundaries, in the style of old salons.
The 2-day gathering will return to Atlanta's historic Mechanicsville neighborhood. It is an event meant to reflect the promise of our time when creativity flows freely between audiences and artists showcasing the city's brightest and most vibrant visual artists throughout the grounds of the Carnival.Following in the same vein as the AFROPUNK Brooklyn, Atlanta will also be participating in this years theme WE THE PEOPLE.
WE THE PEOPLE:We, the people built this land. Our flesh and blood is present in its buildings, its roads and its bridges. Our souls are its spiritual cornerstone. Our culture is its foundation. Our being nourishes this land - as our ancestors' beings nourished it before us - yet the land has not always reimbursed us.
We, the people recognize the bullshit of the powerful. The injustices they committed in the past have never disappeared from view. The inequalities they perpetrate are there for all but the blind.  The inadequacies they've paid forward to a future age are appearing over the horizon. Unless...
We, the people have a code:No SexismNo RacismNo AbleismNo AgeismNo HomophobiaNo FatphobiaNo Transphobia
We, the people commit ourselves to uphold and fight for the rights enshrined in our code. Let us honour those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and hold accountable those who curtail our liberties. Let us walk in the footsteps of warriors who came before us, and strive to create a society based on fundamental human rights. Let us rewrite the universal laws and educate the errant minds.
We, the people have the will to heal the divisions that threaten to reduce our dreams to ashes. We believe in resurrecting the creative power of our diversity. We open our hearts and minds, and dance to the rhythm of a brand-new future. Together. Brave and compassionate. And beautiful.

May the Goddess protect we, the people.

LO MOON"THIS IS IT"
(Photo credit: Jonathan Weiner)"Lo Moon is one of those young bands that seemed to come out of nowhere, fully formed." -  The Los Angeles Times  "That mystery suits the band and keeps the focus on the music: big, gorgeous, sweeping, well-crafted songs that convey a lot of emotion but leave a lot of room for, well, mystery." -  WFUV  "Shimmering, immersive and otherworldly, 'Loveless' is a stop-you-in-your-tracks kind of song...The song has a big sound that's as intimate as it is anthemic; all seven minutes are worthy of your attention." -  NPR  "They delivered a rousing set of beat-heavy dream pop with the gusto of seasoned vets." -  LA Record  "This four-piece, mysterious band has totally got the whole cool, dark vibes thing down to a tee...Lo Moon's authentic passion and energy takes their coolness to a whole other level, a real level, which emerges through ultimate guitar shredding and genuine, kind words between songs." -  WXPN The Key

Oh Land to Play Hollywood Forever w/ The Mynabirds on May 30

Oh Land
to Play Hollywood Forever
w/ The Mynabirds on May 30

“…a delicate, melancholy ode to wisdom and age…”  – NPR

“Strobed, sweaty, vigorous…join her in the jam.” -  FADER

“…a jubilant celebration of resilience, peppered with bells, reedy synths and repeated 'high up' choruses.” –  Rolling Stone

“…shows her musical evolution and maturation into an innovative vocalist.” –  NYLON

“…irresistibly catchy…” –  Paste

Nanna Øland Fabricus, known to fans around the world as Oh Land, came into the music scene in 2008 under less than conventional circumstances. When ten years of training and a budding career in ballet was abruptly ended by injury, a life in music began.

At the age of 22, Fabricus wrote and produced her first album Fauna, which was released to much critical acclaim. Having recorded most of the album by herself in her bedroom, Fabricus discovered an early knack for production. She has since released four studio albums and collaborated with renowned producers Dave Sitek, Dave McCracken and Dan Carey, amongst others. As a songwriter she has worked with Sia, John Legend and Pharrell, to name a few.

Fabricus has spent the better part of the past five years touring the world in support of her albums, headlining tours, intermixed with supporting dates for such acts as Katy Perry and Sia. These albums have paved the way for a growing discography of hits, with “Sun of a Gun”, “White Nights”, fan favorite “Wolf & I”, “Renaissance Girls” and “Head Up High.”.

Fabricus has also established herself as a classical composer, playing with Lang Lang and Joshua Bell at Carnegie Hall, orchestrating whole concerts for the symphony orchestra in her native country of Denmark, and writing other scores for film, TV and theater. Her most recent was scoring a 40-minute ballet for the Danish theatre in Copenhagen in 2016, a collaboration with the Queen of Denmark. The music from this ballet has been released an album,  Askepot , and is available worldwide (Listen on Spotify HERE).

Fabricus is currently writing her next international release that will follow the just-released video for “Love You Better”, directed by filmmaker Kristian Levring. Watch the stunning video  HERE .
