FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, NY (May 26, 2017) - The Charlatans have just released their full-length studio album Different Days, out today via BMG on digital, CD, and vinyl. Different Days is the band's thirteenth album. Co-produced by Jim Spencer, the album was recorded at the band’s studio in Cheshire and features contributions from an array of friends... from Paul Weller and Johnny Marr to crime writer Ian Rankin and writer/actress Sharon Horgan. It follows on from the success of The Charlatans' last album Modern Nature, which drew critical praise across the board, and notched up their eighth Top Ten on the album chart, all capped off with a lifetime achievement award from Q Magazine.
Different Days includes the single "Plastic Machinery" featuring Johnny Marr. You can watch the music video below.

In the wake of the Manchester bombing earlier this week, the Manchester natives acknowledge in themselves the emotional shift around this album release and their scheduled performances throughout Manchester. The Charlatans' Tim Burgess articulates how they consider the purpose changed. "It was previously about celebration, fun, and having a party. Now I think it's more about meeting up with friends, fans, and family, and enjoying time together... Counting our blessings while remembering those who are still going through anguish."
He goes on to explain, "Manchester is a very special place for The Charlatans and we will be spending this weekend with our brothers and sisters there."

Silversun Pickups will embark on a 30-date amphitheater tour opening for Third Eye Blind. The “Summer Gods” Tour celebrates Third Eye Blind’s 20th anniversary, and kicks off on Friday, June 9 in Miami, FL with stops including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and New Orleans. Their fourth studio album, Better Nature, which Entertainment Weekly called “…worth the wait,” was released on September 25th, 2015 via the band’s own New Machine Recordings. Produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles) and mixed by GRAMMY winner Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Royal Blood), Better Nature is a revelatory manifestation of a band entirely in touch with the muse and each other. Hailed for their inimitable merging of ethereal melodies and pure sonic force, Silversun Pickups are among the most dynamic and creative rock bands of the modern era. From the indie rock opening salvo of 2005's Pikul EP to 2012's far-reaching Neck of the Woods, each successive release has seen the Silver Lake-based band boldly venture into uncharted terrain, bravely pushing their imagination and ability toward new and surprising summits. Their 2009 album Swoon featured the Billboard Hot 100 hit "Panic Switch" and earned the group a nomination for Best New Artist at the GRAMMYs that year. Better Nature marks the debut release from Silversun Pickups' own New Machine Recordings. Daughter of jazz guitarist/composer Øystein Norvoll and jazz singer Marit Sandvik - in many ways, Dagny's music reflects her personality - a quirky, endearing pop sound infused with a huge dose of contagious youthful optimism.
New single Wearing Nothing, draws together funk-laced bass lines with explosive electronic-tinged percussion, brandishing Dagny's vibrant voice, quirky cleverness, and self-described “eternal optimism”. As she began to work on new music in 2017, the Norwegian further embraced an unabashed and unfiltered perspective. “I’m constantly pushing myself to be more open, daring, and super true,” she admits. “I’m telling real stories. If I don’t believe it, then who will? The youthful optimism is there, because I constantly want to celebrate life."
Dagny quietly sent shockwaves throughout the music industry in 2016. After a high-profile Beats 1 premiere by tastemaker Zane Lowe, 'Backbeat' transformed into a veritable smash, racking up a staggering 30 million Spotify streams as Apple, Spotify, and Tidal pegged her as an “Artist To Watch” and Interview Magazine, NME, Nylon, Forbes, and more lauded her upon the release of debut EP ‘Ultraviolet’.
In between this whirlwind, she made intermittent writing trips that proved invaluable. Co-written with Ludvig Söderberg (Tove Lo, Ellie Goulding) and Alx Reuterskiöld (Tove Lo, Zara Larsson), Dagny bares it all—musically and emotionally—on her new single 'Wearing Nothing’. Driven by propulsive percussion, a dancefloor-ready stomp, lithe guitars, and sultry, shimmering production, the track quickly snaps into an undeniable and unforgettable chant, “When I’m with you I feel like wearing nothing,” with more than meets the eye.
Delving a little deeper into the lyrical premise, Dagny explained: "It plays on the idea of wanting to be naked with someone. You meet this person you really want to show everything to and be as close as possible to. You’re as bare with them as you can be—to the point where even a piece of clothing feels like too much space in between. You want them to see everything physically and mentally. When you’re an artist, it feels like you’re doing the same thing and showing something intimate and sharing a personal story.”
She went on to say, "The song is called 'Wearing Nothing' but it's not just about wanting to be naked with someone. It's about wanting to be completely bare with someone and be as close as possible both emotionally and physically even to the point where a piece of clothing feels like too much in-between. I believe it's my most intimate song to date.”
Dagny’s story is just beginning to unfold. With a marathon of touring planned and more music on the horizon, she’s got a big year ahead. “Every time I release something, it feels a little bit more like me,” she leaves off. “I grow as an artist. “It all comes from the songs. I hope people can listen to this and feel happier. I really just want to inspire confidence. Maybe you put on my music and can walk with your head up a little higher—or run down the street naked.”

The Hiding is set for release June 2 on Night Bloom Records, a brand new label Johansing founded with Real Estate’s Alex Bleeker and longtime-friend and songwriter Jeff Manson. Click here to pre-order The Hiding.“It seems great opportunities come in blessings as well as tragedies,” Johansing sings on the title track of her third album, The Hiding. After the breakup of her band Yesway, and an abrupt falling out with her closest musical collaborator, Johansing set out to record a new batch of songs that resulted from the sea change in which she had now found herself.
Instead of drawing from her regular band, Johansing pulled from a wider cast of players that she’d come to know in the community of musicians throughout California and the West Coast. The resulting sound is one based wholly and unabashedly in pop. Nods to Christine McVie and Fleetwood Mac can be heard, but Johansing brings these sounds to a modern stage, blending her ethereal vocals with effervescent synthesizer washes and reverberating open-tuned guitar.
Recorded at Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, where Kacey worked as caretaker, as well as at home in Bolinas, on a ridge above the cloud layer in Big Sur, and at a friend’s studio in Portland, the album also serves as a document of Kacey’s time spent traveling in search of the sound she was after. After finishing initial tracking, and still reeling from the heartbreak of losing her musical community, Johansing found a necessary move was in order. Landing somewhat-blindly in Los Angeles, she continued to work on the album and hold it close. The end result isThe Hiding, a tone poem about loss, growth and “leaving the insular beauty of a tight-knit community,” as Johansing describes it. The release of The Hiding comes at a time when Johansing is deeply longing to emerge from her extended absence and reconnect with her desire to create and share her music.
