Today A CERTAIN RATIO - Jez Kerr, Martin Moscrop and Donald Johnson – have released a brand new four-track EP, Christmasville UK, via Mute.
The EP features ACR’s first-ever Christmas track, “Now and Laughter”, which embodies all of the hope and goodwill of the season and is accompanied by a video of the guys celebrating Christmas together. Originally demoed during the It All Comes Down to This album sessions, in true ACR recycling style the guitar chords are based on the chords from “The Big E” / “Won’t Stop Loving You”, while the lyrics acknowledge the unsung heroes that are on hand when the pressures of the festivities can become too much to bear.

With yuletide spirit, the band have invited some of the extended ACR family to join the celebrations and rework tracks from their 2024 album, It All Comes Down to This. Jane Weaver (labelmate when they were both on much-missed Rob Gretton’s label back in the ‘90s) says of her remix for “Where You Coming From”: “It was a joy to rework a track by ACR, true originals with a strong musical ID. I wanted to create something that incorporated more electronic instrumentation, drum machines and a variety of synths and effects so it still had a pop edge but with a new age chordal sentiment that matched the lyrics and vocal melody, perhaps it was a subconscious homage to both our musical pasts working with Rob Gretton. co-founder of the legendary Haçienda night club... I'm sure he would have been delighted with our collaboration!”
Long-time friend and collaborator Emperor Machine (aka Andy Meecham) has given “Out From Under” an extended rework. He explains, “I love the original version but I thought a Boogie / Funk Re-Work would make a great alternative, Martin’s funk guitar riff initially inspired me to take the mix in that direction.”
Some newer friends have been invited into the fold too. London-based Jezebell, who the band heard when they were on tour in Germany, brings the Electro Balearic party spirit to “We All Need” to complete the EP, explaining that: "’We All Need’ is a sermon of uplift crawling out of a sewer of druggy darkness. As usual, Jezebell got stuck in the sewer and threw a party in the dark."

The EP is available on 12” in a limited edition of 500 copies pressed on transparent orange vinyl, made in Scotland by sustainable pressing plant Seabass Vinyl, and digitally.
A Certain Ratio’s latest full-length release, the Dan Carey-produced album It All Comes Down to This (2024, Mute) was released in spring this year. In September of this year, Alex Henry Foster released his second album of 2024, A Measure Of Shape And Sounds. The album is an intimate journey of its own, representing a profound personal breathe-in made of several layers of guitar loops, reverberations, resonances, and oscillations juxtaposed together to create a sonic multi-directional contemplative maelstrom. AMOSAS provides an ongoing soundtrack to that internal self-searching reflection, inviting us to lift ourselves forward, to tame the other bonding voices to which we usually surrender our longing desires for freedom.
Today, as an anniversary celebration of Foster's 2018 album, Windows in the Sky, Foster is releasing one last EP in 2024, A Whispering Moment. The EP highlights the freely evolving nature of the song "Shadows Of Our Evening Tides" from its initial incarnation and its organic transformation through multiple live performances.
A poignant demonstration of a deep emotional immersion and fragile sonic intensity, "Shadows Of Our Evening Tides" offers a vivid glimpse into Alex Henry Foster’s cathartic creative universe while standing as a perfect reflection of his enviable reputation as one of the most engaging, ferocious, and provocative bands to set foot on a stage today. The track also features a sample of Allen Ginsberg reading his poem "Song," a meditation on love, mortality, and the ephemeral nature of human experience.
About the EP, Foster says, "I believe this very special project not only encapsulates the incredibly personal and intimate emotions that essentially express the brokenness of my heart following my father’s passing and my long belated grieving process, but that also became a singular element for friends and loved ones to find solace in their own losses before providing comfort to many people who would later discover the hopeful nature of a record that might appear or be shallowly interpreted as a sad and weary reflection of love’s impermanence and disarray when its true essence remains finding peace and purpose in our own bleakest times."
He continues, "And like most unambitious honesty and unselfishly-absorbed creative let go, "Windows in the Sky" would subsequently offer me the ultimate blessing to redefine my musical journey, and maybe, if not more importantly, to rewire my whole existence entirely."

Paxahau, the producers of the Movement Music Festival, have shared an early glimpse of the 2025 lineup led by Techno titan Carl Cox performing his acclaimed Hybrid Live Set and dance music superstar John Summit closing out the festival weekend. Music fans from across the globe will once again descend upon Detroit, the epicenter of Techno music, and be treated to three days of diverse curation on Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26, 2025) inside Hart Plaza at downtown Detroit’s iconic riverfront.
“Movement is a techno institution in Detroit so for me, it’s like reuniting with an old friend," said Carl Cox. "I’m going to make up for the years I’ve missed with a show that’s going to send Detroit to another dimension!”
"I’m stoked to be playing Movement for the third time and now, closing out the festival,” said John Summit. “I’ve attended as a fan for years and the energy and support this city and crowd bring is always special. It’s an honor to be a part of such a legendary event.”
The 2025 lineup teaser offers a glimpse of the festival’s expansive programming, showcasing inspired selection of dance music’s renowned artists, underground icons, and buzzworthy debut performers; a dynamic curation that bridges the gap between seasoned legends and the rising stars who represent the future of electronic music.
Notable first-time performers include: award-winning artist and producer Jamie xx (coming off his highly acclaimed sophomore album In Waves); breakout UK producer and DJ Sammy Virji; Naples-based Techno star Anfisa Letyago; Drum & Bass trailblazers Chase & Status; as well as Berlin’s rising star DJ Gigola.
Today’s announcement also features the return of festival favorite Klanguestler; Columbian-born, Brooklyn-based live musician Ela Minus; rising Detroit ghettotech trio HiTech; British producer and DJ Patrick Topping; Palestinian global sensation Sama’ Abdulhadi; plus, Detroit Techno pioneers Carl Craig and DJ Minx. Today, ahead of the release of her EP, Hollybaby, NYC based rising singer-songwriter, Stella Rose, is sharing the video for the EP's final track, "Drugstore Romeo."
The writing process for Hollybaby saw Stella Rose differ from familiarity. Not only did she shift from her native New York to Los Angeles to complete her home recorded demos, she also adopted a more urgent style of writing, embracing time constraints and challenging herself to give her original ideas a “second life”.
Each day reached 100+ degrees as Hollybaby came together during the hottest week of the summer in LA. Both Stella Rose and her producer Yves fed off that uncomfortable heat in the studio, culminating in her loudest, rawest and arguably most entrancing material to date.
2024 has been a year of growth and transformation for Stella Rose, seeing her grow into an international fashion muse for houses like Ann D, Celine and EDR. She is receiving the full embrace of the booming underground scene in New York City, having recently performed at the very first show at the buzzy Hancock, frequented by Pretty Sick and The Dare. Having recently wrapped up a successful run of UK/EU tour dates with A Place To Bury Strangers, Stella Rose embarks on her latest chapter with the wind firmly in her sails.
With influences like Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, and evidently, her father Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, Stella Rose’s unapologetically expressive and alluring persona and lyrics are sure to captivate.

:Stella Rose introduces fragments of her debut album Eyes of Glass (to be released May 19th) on the heels of two well-received singles. "Muddled Man" and "Angel" established Stella Rose as a poetic force and powerful singer. "Passionate and dissolute, ‘Muddled Man’ recalls Nick Cave at his Biblical best" (Clash). Its opposing reflection, "Angel," with "warm, folksy croon swells into a room-filling climax" (Paper Magazine).
Eyes of Glass, recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Yves Rothman, combines the poetic soul of Stella Rose’s lyrics with the serpentine sound she and Rothman have developed. Earning its place feeling less like a descendant of what has come before, than a piece in conversation with its artistic predecessors.
Nothing outweighs the significance of creating her work. "At the end of the day, I’m a writer," she says. "It’s the only way for me to process my feelings, and when I write I might not understand the meaning or gravity of my words but at some point later they’ll explain where I was and how I’ve grown. That’s how I make music: I collect things over time."
Whether they’re written in fresh ink or are years old, you can be sure Stella Rose has found just the right way to use them to make an unforgettable statement that feels both of the moment yet timeless. "The best work I do," she says, "always resonates now."
In addition to earning praise for her work from outlets including Rolling Stone UK, Brooklyn Vegan, Paper, Clash, CREEM, and NME, she’s been embraced by like-minded artists, appearing in Hedi Slimane’s Dairies, the Buffalo Hotel Chelsea Issue 16 photographed by Richard Kern, walking in the Enfants Riches Deprims show during Paris Fashion Week, and shooting major features for magazines including Pop and Downtown Magazine.
The rising songstress has prevailed as a force to be reckoned with in New York City’s live space, creating an underground scene reminiscent of Patti Smith, Stella Rose will be making her way to the mainstage, however, in April when she opens for Depeche Mode at Madison Square Garden.

(December 10, 2024) - FKA twigs announces a limited-edition collaborative drink with premium matcha brand Matchaful. Inspired by the heightened state of euphoria and transcendence represented in the name of her forthcoming album Eusexua, twigs has collaborated with Matchaful to create a beverage that elicits that state of being. The limited-edition drink features Hikari Ceremonial Grade Matcha, blue spirulina, black and white tahini, amazake (a Japanese fermented food that is high in nutrients such as vitamin B, essential amino acids and naturally occurring glucose that boosts immunity, improves gut health, and may have anti-aging effects) Madagascar vanilla bean, and maple.
The collaboration was born of twigs’ love of matcha and Matchaful specifically. Visiting Matchaful Café locations was already part of twigs’ routine when visiting New York City and the parallels between the ceremony of preparing matcha and the concept of Eusexua inspired her to reach out to the brand about creating the collaborative beverage. Speaking to the similarities between Eusexua and the process of preparing and enjoying matcha, twigs shares:
