In November 2024, Guided By Voices excitedly announced the 18th GBV album in 10 years, aptly titled Universe Room. Bandleader Robert Pollard and the longest running GBV lineup of members Doug Gillard, Kevin March, Mark Shue and Bobby Bare Jr, have recorded an incredible string of of 17 albums since 2017, with Universe Room poised to be the band's 41st full length album. Packing a vast mix of energy levels and previously undiscovered constellations of sounds into 17 diverse tracks over a compact space of less than 40 minutes, the new record ventures into truly surprising territory, where barely any song segments are revisited, typical choruses are a thing of the past, and fidelity daringly shifts between lo-fi and hi-fi.
Today, the band is sharing "Dawn Believes," the second single from the album due on February 7th.
The unique audio palette certainly wasn’t unintentional on the parts of bandleader Robert Pollard and stalwart producer Travis Harrison. “I wanted to create, hopefully, an experience, kind of a wild ride, where the listener would want to hear it multiple times in order to grasp all the sections and fields of sound to discover something new with each listen,” says Pollard. “I trimmed down the songs so that there wasn't a lot of repetition, so you get a lot of sections that happen only once or twice.”
The unprecedented approach to the expansive songwriting adds to the surprising new frontiers of aural sensations from Pollard and members Gillard, March, Shue and Bare Jr. “I wanted to get a little more sonic diversity for this album,” says Pollard, “So I asked each member of the band to record all the instruments for one song and I did three songs myself.”
March’s contribution, opener “Driving Time”, kicks off the record with the nighttime chirping of crickets before adding layers of guitar and percussion, creating a spectral and distinctive new atmosphere for GBV, which is echoed by Gillard's spacey off-the-cuff guitar work in the outro of lead single “Fly Religion”. Guitarist Doug Gillard was recently featured in Guitar Player Magazine and picked in Rolling Stone’s 250 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time.
“For the rest of the songs, we used a lot of different approaches to the recording of both the instruments and the vocals,” adds Pollard, which is evident on tracks like “Clearly Aware”, where the band was completely recorded on just one mic.
Universe Room embodies a realm of new horizons for Guided By Voices, who continue to redefine and expand as they blast off to unpredictable worlds.
"Dawn Believes" is available on streaming services now. Universe Room is due for release on February 7th.

Ghost Hounds share "You'll Never Find Me (Strings Version)" features 15 string musicians
GHOST HOUNDS SHARE “YOU’LL NEVER FIND ME (STRINGS VERSION)”
OUT NOW VIA GIBSON RECORDS
ARRANGEMENT BY GHOST HOUNDS’ KRISTIN WEBER
PLUS CAPTIVATING MUSIC VIDEO RECORDED LIVE AT OCEAN WAY IN NASHVILLE AND DIRECTED BY ALLISTER ANN (KENNY CHESNEY, TEGAN & SARA, DAN AUERBACH)

Ghost Hounds are thrilled to share "You'll Never Find Me (Strings Version)” arranged by the band's own Kristin Weber and out now via Gibson Records. The new version follows the previously released studio recording.
The Strings Version is paired with a captivating music video recorded live at Ocean Way in Nashville, directed by Allister Ann, known for her work with Kenny Chesney, Tegan & Sara, Civil wars, Dan Auerbach and more.
The song is described by the band as a "warrior's anthem," with a deep message of resilience and self-empowerment. As the band’s SAVNT explains, “You’ll Never Find Me” is dedicated to anyone who has lost themselves in a person or a situation, but who has the strength to reclaim their identity and power. The video complements this message with visuals that portray perseverance, emphasizing the idea that no matter how many times you're knocked down, you can always rise again—"get back on the horse 8 times when you’ve been thrown off 7."
Kristin Weber, who arranged the strings version of the track, shares her passion for this musical approach: “Aside from fiddling in a rock band, one of my other great loves is arranging strings for songs. I like working with different voices of an orchestra as if they are different colors in a painting. When our singer, SAVNT, brought this song to us and we began working it out, I immediately heard this strings version forming in my head—partially inspired by what my bandmates were playing. I’m so grateful that Ghost Hounds trusted me to take us into uncharted musical territories.”

Ghost Hounds are a country rock band with a heavy blues influence that proves the genre is not only alive but thriving for the next generation of rock fans. Fronted by SAVNT and backed by guitarists Tyler Chiarelli and Thomas Tull, fiddler Kristin Weber, bassist Bennett Miller, and drummer Sydney Driver, the band has made significant statements with their four studio albums. Ghost Hounds’ debut, Roses Are Black (2019), earned widespread acclaim from Billboard, American Songwriter, and more as well as millions of streams on streaming platforms. Their follow-up, A Little Calamity (2021), impressed with its classic rock sensibilities and the hit single “Good Old Days.” You Broke Me (2022) continued their tradition of blending classic blues rock with a modern flair. Their latest album, First Last Time (2023) via Gibson Records, features hit single “Last Train To Nowhere,” which racked up millions of hits via TikTok and Instagram, and was featured in Taylor Sheridan’s new TV show Special Ops: Lioness. Ghost Hounds have honed their sound on the road, having supported legendary acts like The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Garth Brooks, Guns N' Roses, and Bob Seger. With their chemistry at an all-time high, the band is set to bring even more blues-rock brilliance in the future.

"Taylor Acorn’s debut album, Survival In Motion, is a testament to inner strength. Brought up by early ’90s and 2000s pop punk, the Nashville-based singer is making her own mark on the genre that raised her through bold vulnerability, a strong sense of self, and wide-eyed ambition. Undoubtedly indebted to Avril Lavigne and Amy Lee, Acorn’s soaring voice on the title track launches the LP on an impressive note."
- Alternative Press
“Driven by melody and a desire for catharsis, from starting out in the country scene through her evolution into a pop-punk artist, a throughline of candidness has bound everything the 30-year-old creates.”
- Rock Sound
“Following the success of her previous singles, ‘Greener’ and ‘High Horse,’ [‘Survival In Motion’] is a riotous and powerful offering with edgy guitar riffs, high-octane percussion patterns, and poignant lyrics delivered by rich vocals…”
- Ones To Watch
“The powerhouse vocals, crisp songwriting, and the overall feeling of good vibes coming through the speakers washed over me from the opening notes all the way to the dramatic conclusion of the album.”
- Chorus.fm
Following a whirlwind year of sold-out Australian and US tours, festival appearances, and international acclaim, pop-punk trailblazer Taylor Acorn is wrapping up 2024 with her intimate two-song acoustic EP, Greener (Acoustic). This stripped-down offering showcases a raw, emotional side of the Acorn while cementing her place as one of the most compelling voices in the alternative music scene.
The EP features acoustic versions of fan-favorite tracks “Greener” and “People Watching,” reimagined to highlight Taylor's vulnerable lyricism. "Greener has been one of those songs that has just gotten me through," Taylor recalls. "I needed to write it, I needed to feel it, and I know there’s 2 versions already but I am a sucker for an acoustic. There’s something that’s just so sweet and uplifting about the acoustic and I’m really excited for everyone to hear it."
Greener (Acoustic) is now available on all DSPs.

Growing up in the early 90’s & 2000’s pop punk/pop rock scene, for Taylor Acorn it was never a phase. Hailing from the small North Central Pennsylvania town of Wellsboro, Taylor had always dreamed of a career in music and in 2014, dropped out of Kutztown University to pursue just that, setting her sights for Nashville in 2017.
With her infectiously relatable releases of “Psycho”, “Certified Depressant”, and “Shapeshifting”, Taylor is now leaving her own footprint in the pop punk community giving her fans a place to feel safe and to feel heard, by tackling tough subjects such as mental health by sharing her own personal struggles. She wants to give her listeners a space where they can feel free and vulnerable, a place where healing is accepted no matter who you are or where you’ve come from.TAYLOR ACORN LINKS
