"This song came about at the time when we re-approached “Good Mourning” in 2023,” Clara says about “Enemy”. “Jam City showed me some new beats, and when we finished what became “Enemy”, I immediately knew it was the missing piece from the mixtape. It pulled everything together, and finally made the project feel complete”.
Good Mourning draws from Clara La San’s influences spanning 90s trip-hop, early 2000s R&B, and contemporary electronic music. Co-produced with Jam City, the mixtape earned immediate attention upon its initial release, with features in outlets like The FADER, before being taken down from digital platforms by Clara herself. This act, though unintentional, created an aura of mystique, as fans archived and shared ripped demos, cementing the project as a treasured underground gem.

I didn’t care what came out of me because it was the only way I could find peace in my earth-shattering grief. My highs are higher and my lows are lower. My love is deeper and my calling is stronger. Cover The Mirrors is helping me cope with my new reality and these songs are part of that journey.”
Ben Kweller has been an open book throughout his illustrious career. His songs hold a nostalgic quality that takes you to a time and a place, happy or sad. Cover The Mirrors now sees Kweller walking through the fire of heartbreaking grief with intention and purpose. Recorded October 2024 at NoiseCo Studio in Dripping Springs, TX with tour mates Chris Mintz-Plasse (bass) and Ryan Dean (drums), the 12-song collection features guest performances by an array of friends and fellow musicians, including Waxahatchee (“Dollar Store”), MJ Lenderman (“Oh Dorian”), The Flaming Lips (“Killer Bee”), and Jason Schwartzman’s highly acclaimed mid-aughts musical project Coconut Records (“Depression”). Despite the profound heartache and sadness that has filled the years since Dorian’s passing, Kweller’s open-eyed honesty about grief and loss has been an inspiration to people around the world. Now, with Cover The Mirrors, Ben Kweller devotes that deep well of emotions to his music, offering a chance to witness one of the great singer/songwriters at their creative peak.
Kweller will mark the arrival of Cover The Mirrors with a North American headline run. The first leg of the Cover The Mirrors Tour gets underway April 15 at Atlanta, GA’s Purgatory at The Masquerade and then travels through a May 3 homecoming at Austin, TX’s historic Scoot Inn. November 1st saw the release of THE CURE's critically acclaimed album, SONGS OF A LOST WORLD, the band’s first new studio record in 16 years and their first #1 album in the UK since 1992. The night of the album's unveiling, The Cure performed it in full to 3000 fans at Troxy London and to more than a million on a free global stream.

(December 12th, 2024) - Fresh off the release of her new album Petrichor, 070 Shake shares a new music video for “Vagabond.” In the video directed by Bennett Watanabe, scenes drift against a black background, punctuated by motifs of flashing light bulbs and falling rain. 070 Shake occupies these dark liminal spaces, singing, running and stumbling within each scene as it passes by pointing to her latest album’s core themes and her own unbridled artistry.
Petrichor arrived on November 15th via Def Jam Recordings to rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Executive-produced by Shake and longtime collaborator Dave Hamelin, Petrichor is her boldest and most intimate album yet. Acoustic guitars, ornate piano passages, ominous synths, dembow and hip-hop rhythms, with a dash of psychedelia — Petrichor is a project that melds Shake’s personal tastes, lived experiences and limitless creativity showcasing that she is truly an artist who answers to no one but herself.

Petrichor includes a wide range of guests who lend their voices to the album's epic narrative, including Courtney Love on Shake’s cover of the 1970 Tim Buckley song “Song to the Siren,” with contributions from Melissa Auf der Maur which marks the first recording they’ve shared since Hole. JT of City Girls on the mystical track “Into Your Garden,” and Nashville singer-songwriter Cam on the euphoric “Never Let Us Fade.” Lily-Rose Depp appears on the emotionally charged “Blood On Your Hands,” on which Shake recites a spoken-word passage of devotion to a “fatal lover.” The album also includes “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues,” which arrived alongside a music video starring the boundaryless artist and her partner Lily-Rose Depp. Shake followed that with the music video for standout track “Elephant” which was filmed on the day of “A Night at the Ballet” in Los Angeles which showcased Shake’s expansive vision of Petrichor through dance. The night brought the album’s musical textures to life through a Zoi Tatopoulous (FKA Twigs, Banks) choreographed performance and special guest appearance from dancer Violetta Komyshan.
Since her breakout year in 2018, the New Jersey native has become known for her emotional vocal delivery and futuristic production, combining elements of hip-hop, pop and electronic. Shake released her critically acclaimed debut album Modus Vivendi in 2020, followed by You Can’t Kill Me in 2022. In 2023, she appeared on RAYE's hit single “Escapism,” which hit No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100, and went double platinum in the US and multiple other countries. Petrichor is an ambitious step forward for the artist, exposing the most intimate parts of her heart and incorporating rich orchestral arrangements and live piano, guitar and drums into her experimental sound palette.

On the video Curses said "Will Clark hit me up on Instagram about doing a video together for a song off the new album, loved his work and what Jamón have been doing but we were deep in the middle of a 22 date concert tour, so it was a proper puzzle and hustle figuring out when and how to shoot it. Will has this great idea to shoot on 16mm in Brighton's Saltdean Cliffs. We had a super late set Nov 9 in Brighton, so we shot the performance shots out in the blistering cold in-between soundcheck and stage time. Will and Jamón team really pulled out all the stops, from epic set design - freezing flowers into giant blocks of ice, swan feather angel wings, and draped silk fabrics, everything moved very smoothly from start to finish. 'H2SG' is a song very close to my heart. One of the most vulnerable ones off the album. its about grief, patience, undying love, they did a lovely and delicate job portraying these emotions visually. super happy with the outcome."
Director Will Clark added "The day ‘Another Heaven’ dropped I was twiddling my thumbs wanting to make something, I had an old 400ft roll of film at the back of the fridge and loved the sound so messaged Luca saying we gotta make a vid. With trust he was in and told me about 'H2SG', a beautiful tune. I turned what I heard into some imagery then we gathered the nearest & dearest and shot the vid very shortly after. It was true collaboration from all and a very rewarding process."

Anthony Davis, AKA Ant, the producer half of the legendary, pioneering hip-hop group Atmosphere, has announced Collection of Sounds: Volume 3, the third installment in his four-volume series of instrumentals. In addition to his work with Atmosphere, Ant’s production credits also include tracks for Brother Ali, MF DOOM, Murs, Felt, Rav, The Grouch & Eligh, Sage Francis, Dynospectrum and more.
This third installment delves into the rich influences of reggae, dub, and early hip-hop, crafting a vibrant instrumental landscape that pays homage to these foundational genres. Building on the textured soundscapes that define his work, this album showcases Ant's masterful ability to weave together infectious grooves, deep basslines, and melodic samples that evoke the warmth and rhythm of reggae. Cuts like today’s singles “Welcome Back” and "Perfection" exemplify his signature style, blending intricate rhythms with emotive undertones. "For volume three I explored music I made over the years that had a reggae dub influence and maybe put an extra old school “80’s hiphop” dub feel throughout,” shares Ant, “I have always wanted to do an old school dub influenced release, and I could not convince any of my friends to do an entire dub record, so I did one using a variety of old and new beats/songs from the past two decades. After having fun messing around with some effects, this is what happened."
Collections of Sounds: Volume 3 follows the recently released Collection of Sounds: Volume 1 & Volume 2. Volume 2 features smooth beats, intricate sampling, and lush layers that create an immersive funk-laden atmosphere, where Volume 1 has pockets that are practically begging for rappers to explore. When he first pondered releasing an instrumental series, Ant figured he might want to make the songs more “intricate” than the ones he gave to his rapper collaborators, filling up the space in the mix that would normally be given over to their vocals. “But then it would be jazz, right?” he says with a loud laugh. “And I’m not that.” Fitting, as Collection of Sounds is not about forgetting who you are—it’s about remembering, reconfiguring, and reimagining, all at once.

The son of a military family, Ant grew up bouncing between locales: Texas, California, New York, Colorado, even as far away as Germany. While moving every couple of years presented plenty of challenges, it also exposed Ant to a wide array of different people and cultures. It also helped nurture his burgeoning love of music. Ant’s father, only 20 years his senior, was an avid record collector. “He was into funk and jazz and soul music and stuff,” Ant says. “When I’m ten years old, he’s only 30, and rap is out: he was listening to it, but he didn’t know the difference between Grandmaster Flash and Rick James. To him it was the same thing—this is all funk, this is all disco, this is just all music.”
“There was always this weird dream in my head that I could get somewhere,” says Davis. As one half of Atmosphere, the longtime Minneapolis resident has carved out the type of career that aspiring musicians across the world imagine as they cut their teeth in home studios and on small stages. Yet while decades of sold-out tours and critical acclaim might have been, at one time, an abstract notion to the now 53-year-old, he always had a sense that he could spin his ingenuity behind turntables into a living. While the last 30 years serve as proof positive that he was right, his new four-volume collection of instrumental work, Collection of Sounds, illuminates the variety of styles and skills that made that inkling a reality. Amen Dunes Releases Final Album Death Jokes II Out Via Sub Pop
Damon McMahon releases new remix album, Death Jokes II, today, the final work of the acclaimed Amen Dunes project.
This is the last chapter of the final volume. Goodbye, I’ve barely said a word to you, but it’s always like that at parties - we never really see each other, we never say the things we should like to; in fact it’s the same everywhere in this life. Let’s hope that when we are dead things will be better arranged.
Amen Dunes was founded in 2006 with D.I.A., an album he recorded on an 8-track recorder in a trailer in Upstate New York. It grew from there, with McMahon releasing 6 full-length albums and 2 EPs over the last 18 years. Today he releases the 7th and final album, Death Jokes II, a reworked version of his May 2024 Sub Pop debut, Death Jokes. Hailed as “a daring turn in a different direction” by NPR Music, “a testament to McMahon’s sheer artistic brilliance” by Stereogum, and “a body of musical work that’s often as confounding as it is brilliant” by GQ, Death Jokes marked a major departure from Amen Dunes’ previous output, an ambitious album that saw McMahon immerse himself in the electronic music he grew up with but never imagined himself able to make.
Death Jokes was a complex project that took close to four years to complete and was recorded in various iterations, including an alternate version of the album recorded in June of 2021 at the famed East West Studios in Los Angeles (in the “Pet Sounds” and the haunted “Whitney Houston” rooms) with Money Mark (Beastie Boys) on keyboards, and both Jim Keltner (Bob Dylan et. al) and Carla Azar (Autolux) on drums.
In reimagining the album as Death Jokes II, McMahon revisited all that material for stripped down remixes of the songs by Craig Silvey. These new mixes also include unheard contributions from notable Death Jokes contributors Panoram, Kwake Bass (Dean Blunt, MF DOOM), Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray), and Robbie Lee, a multi-instrumentalist and NYC veteran.
Death Jokes II is a celebration of endings and of deaths, marking the end of Amen Dunes, itself.

Acclaimed alternative jesters Faux Real will bring their singularly flamboyant and creatively daring live show to clubs across North America with an eagerly awaited North American headline tour, getting underway February 8 at Austin, TX’s Hotel Vegas and then traveling through a March 1 finale in New York City. Tickets for all announced dates are on sale Friday, December 13 at 10 am local time.
Known far and wide for their genre-bending, gravity-defying live performances, Faux Real – a.k.a. Los Angeles-based Franco-American brothers Virgile and Elliott Arndt – are heralding the upcoming tour with today’s premiere of an official video of “Walking Away From My Demons,” featuring footage captured on-stage earlier this year during the duo’s live run across Europe and the United Kingdom.
"This video was shot over some 20 shows on tour between May and June 2024, in Europe, the UK and the US," say Faux Real. "We wanted to make a video medley of Walking Away From My Demons, a fan-favorite at our shows. So we set out to film WAFMD every time we played it, in rooms big or small, day or night, packed or not. It’s all phone footage shot by random audience members, by ourselves, by our videographer Ted Kayumba, to try and reflect what a Faux Real show feels like: sweaty, euphoric, absurd, over-the-top, earnest, glamorous, disgusting, sexual, sacred.
