After Thirty Years Bananarama Are Back With Original Lineup & Reveal First Four North American Dates As Iconic Trio
AFTER THIRTY YEARS BANANARAMA ARE BACK WITH ORIGINAL LINEUP & REVEAL FIRST FOUR NORTH AMERICAN DATES AS ICONIC TRIO
TICKETS ON SALE EVERYWHERE FRIDAY OCTOBER 13, 2017
October 10th, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA) - A once-in-a-lifetime cultural event that's been exactly thirty years in the making, British pop powerhouse Bananarama touch down in 2018 for their first four dates in North America, as the original three-piece lineup - Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward, and Siobhan Fahey. First up, the ladies take over Los Angeles on February 20 before gigs in San Francisco, Toronto, and New York. Check out the full itinerary below.
A special fan presale goes live Wednesday October 11, while general on-sale begins Friday October 13. As they will sell out fast, get tickets HERE.
This marks a very important first for the trio. Prodigal sister Fahey amicably split from the group back in 1988-thirty years to the date of this forthcoming tour. Even though Dallin and Woodward carried on as Bananarama, performed around the globe, and released six albums, they never properly toured in their initial incarnation with Fahey. That changes in 2018.
This reunion celebrates their enduring legacy as a three-piece and the seminal albums they recorded together such as Bananarama [1984], True Confessions [1986], and Wow! [1987]. Expect to hear show-stopping and stunning renditions of era-defining singles, including the Hot 100 #1 smash "Venus", Top 5 hit "I Heard A Rumour", "Cruel Summer", "Robert De Niro's Waiting", and more. The North American tour comes hot on the heels of their first UK tour as a three-piece this fall.
About heading to North America, the girls commented, "America, you've been waiting for this one! It took a little while, but we're finally coming to North America as a trio, and we're so excited to give you an unforgettable show. Thanks for your patience. It's going to be worth it!"
Cited in the Guinness Book of Records as "the most successful girl group of all-time" for achieving more hit singles than any female band in history, Bananarama forever changed the face of pop music worldwide. Blending pop, dance, and new wave with fresh fashion-forward fire and unbreakable confidence, they notched a total of thirty inescapable hit singles such as the immortal Hot 100 #1 "Venus," "Cruel Summer," and many more. To date, combined sales exceed 40 million and counting.

Thankfully, East meets them in 10 tracks and 33 minutes.”In addition to making his television debut on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and appearing on “CBS This Morning Saturday” and Daryl Hall’s “Live from Daryl’s House,” East has also lent his talents to several notable projects. He’s been featured on Dave Cobb’s Southern Familycompilation, contributed a song to Brandi Carlile’s Cover Stories LP and crafted the original song “What Would It Take” for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.

Meredith Monk fall season: Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival, Gish Prize, Hirshhorn Honor + more
MEREDITH MONK FALL SEASON INCLUDES LINCOLN CENTER’S WHITE LIGHT FESTIVAL, PRESTIGIOUS GISH PRIZE, HIRSHHORN HONOR AND MORE
Photo credit: Julieta CervantesMeredith Monk’s robust Fall 2017 season ramps up with new performances, public talks and notable accolades. See below for information on upcoming events and highlights.Monk was recently named the recipient of the 24th annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize; the award—established in 1994 through the will of stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema—is given to an individual who has “made an outstanding contribution to the beauty of the world and to mankind’s enjoyment and understanding of life.” The prize will be presented to Monk at a private ceremony on October 26 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). Monk joins a list of honorees that has included Elizabeth LeCompte, Suzan-Lori Parks, Maya Lin, Anna Deavere Smith, Spike Lee, Trisha Brown, Laurie Anderson, Frank Gehry, Peter Sellars and Bob Dylan, among others.“I am humbled and grateful to receive the Gish Prize,” says Monk. “It’s exceptional for being a prize that a great artist decided to give to other artists, and even more special for the values that Lillian Gish expressed when she said it should recognize contributions to ‘the beauty of the world.’ I believe, as she did, that art can be a healing force, a source of light during dark times.”For three performances only, Monk and her Vocal Ensemble will share the stage with the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) and the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) at Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival in an evening-length program entitled Dancing Voices on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.See HERE for tickets and more information.Dancing Voices surveys nearly five decades of Monk’s music in an exploration of the human voice as an instrument—from solo to ensemble singing and work with instrumentalists. The program opens with 21 YPC choristers alongside Ms. Monk and Vocal Ensemble members Katie Geissinger and Allison Sniffin in selections from ATLAS: an opera in three parts, Book of Days, and The Games, among other works, in a performance that blends music with choreography and theatrical lighting. The second part of the program is conducted by YPC Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Núñez, with 50 girls from the chorus, in the world-premiere complete performanceof Ms. Monk’s Three Heavens and Hells in its YPC-commissioned choral version, followed by “ascent” from Songs of Ascension, in which the girls are joined by 25 boys, three YPC soloists, Ms. Monk and her Vocal Ensemble, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (Ben Russell, violin; Laura Lutzke, violin; Caleb Burhans, viola; Clarice Jensen, cello), percussionist David Cossin and wind player Bohdan Hilash.Along with pioneer of integrative medicine, Dr. Andrew Weil, Monk is slated to give a talk at The Rubin Museum of Art in New York. Entitled “Sound and Healing” the afternoon event takes place on October 23 focusing on an exploration of how sound affects our bodies, encourages healing, and re-tunes us to our environment. See HERE for tickets and more information. On November 6, Ms. Monk will also be honored at this year’s Hirshhorn Gala in New York. Taking place at Lincoln Center, Monk is among the 31 international female artists being recognized for transforming public perceptions of contemporary art and expanding cultural dialogue around the most important current issues. The group represents some of the most significant artists working today, featuring trailblazers who pioneered new forms of art making. As part of her November 7-12 residency at Wesleyan University, Monk will also be giving a talk on November 9 with Danspace Project’s Judy Hussie-Taylor followed by a work-in-progress performance with her Vocal Ensemble of Cellular Songs on November 12 at Crowell Concert Hall. Information on these two events can be found HERE and HERE, respectively.ABOUT MEREDITH MONKMeredith Monk is a composer, singer, director/choreographer and creator of new opera, music-theater works, films and installations. Josh Ritter's featured on "CBS This Morning" + New album Gathering out now to critical praise
JOSH RITTER FEATURED ON
“CBS THIS MORNING”GATHERING OUT NOW TO CRITICAL PRAISEEXTENSIVE FALL TOUR DATES CONFIRMED INCLUDING A HEADLINING PERFORMANCE
Photo credit: Laura Wilson, album artworkJosh Ritter was featured on “CBS This Morning” this past Saturday, October 7. The profile included an in-depth interview with host Anthony Mason as well as live in-studio performances of “ Feels Light Lightning ,” “ Dreams ” and “ Thunderbolt’s Goodnight ”—three songs from his acclaimed new album, Gathering , out now via Pytheas Recordings/ Thirty Tigers. Watch the interview HERE.Recent critical praise from for Gathering:
“In short, Josh Ritter remains at the top of his game two decades into a highlight-strewn career. He’d be forgiven for loosening his grip, but his hand has never felt surer.”

“The singer-songwriter has two decades of Americana artistry under his belt—and he’s not slowing down.”
“Midway between the country, gospel and soul camps, with thickly stacked harmonies that evoke the Dead’s own folk-rock classic American Beauty.”
“Gathering is beautiful and precise, and most of the beauty, to be certain, arises from a prolonged, often intimate contemplation of Ritter’s enormous skill set as an honest bard.”
“It’s proof enough that Ritter is one of the true keepers of the American folk lineage—a proud traditionalist and an utter original.”
“Ritter has summoned something with Gathering: an attempt to dismantle those myths—both personal and otherwise—that loom over the horizon.”
“Gathering proves once again that it’s great to be living in a time when Josh Ritter is making music.”
“It’s a heartfelt ballad, set to a lovely blend of acoustic fingerpicking, glowing piano chords and subtle pedal-steel accents, all in perfect sync with Ritter’s earnest tenor.”In support of the release, Ritter and the Royal City Band will kick off an extensive tour later this month including a debut headline performance at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on February 16. Tickets for the fall tour are on sale now and include a download of the forthcoming album. See below for complete details. The release of Gathering marks 20 years since Ritter began recording and performing music. Along with his loyal bandmates, the Royal City Band, and engineer Trina Shoemaker, Ritter returned to the Clubhouse studio in Rhinebeck, NY with more songs than he’d ever had before at one time. Re-energized after a recent collaboration with legendary artist Weir and—at the same time—tired of living in the shadow of his earlier self, Ritter felt charged with exploring the possibility of cutting himself loose from his own and others’ expectations. In his words, “I began with an exciting sense of dissatisfaction, and what emerged, as I began to find my voice, was a record full of storms. I still can’t tell what era these stories are from. They feel part roustabout, part psalm to me.”Over the course of his acclaimed two-decade career, Ritter has released eight full-length albums including his most recent, 2015’s Sermon On The Rocks, which received widespread critical praise— The New York Times said, “The literary-minded songwriter Josh Ritter…recharges his music on his eighth studio album, Sermon On The Rocks…Harking back to Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and maybe a little Mark Knopfler, Mr. Ritter has always been a slinger of serious ideas and high-flown imagery” and The Wall Street Journal furthered, “The new album’s music is airy, propulsive and more often than not, catchy.” Most recently, in 2015, Ritter began a close collaboration with Bob Weir and went on to write or co-write many of the twelve songs on Weir’s acclaimed 2016 solo album, Blue Mountain. Pitchfork called the album, “quietly adventurous, wise, and a welcome late-career turn,” whileEntertainment Weekly described it as, “a moving group of tunes worthy of any campfire.”In addition to his work as a musician, Ritter made his debut as a published author in 2011 with his New York Times best-selling novel, Bright’s Passage (Dial Press/Random House). Of the work, Stephen King wrote in The New York Times Book Review, “Shines with a compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime…This is the work of a gifted novelist.”The Royal City Band is Zachariah Hickman (bass, acoustic guitar, wurlitzer), Sam Kassirer (piano, organ, synthesizers, percussion), Josh Kaufman (guitar, synthesizer) and Ray Rizzo (drums, percussion). Sleigh Bells Announce Mini LP, Release First Track
SLEIGH BELLS ANNOUNCE MINI LPKID KRUSCHEV OUT NOVEMBER 10, 2017
LISTEN TO LEAD TRACK "AND SAINTS"

Brooklyn, NY’s Sleigh Bells - comprised of vocalist Alexis Krauss and producer/guitarist Derek Miller - will release a mini-album entitled Kid Kruschev onNovember 10th, 2017 via their own label, Torn Clean. The collection’s first song, a dark, meditative track entitled “And Saints,” can be heard HERE.
Sleigh Bells will also be embarking on a massive North American tour this winter. Dates are below; Sunflower Bean support on multiple dates.
Following the tremendous response to the band’s last critically acclaimed album, Jessica Rabbit, Miller and Krauss found themselves more inspired than ever before. Krauss’s move out of Brooklyn to upstate New York gave the band a new place from which to work; the political climate gave them new topics to tackle, embracing both the personal and world-scale anxiety of the moment. Says Miller about the new songs:
“Doesn't feel like the sky is falling, feels more like it fell. Maybe a long time ago and it's just more obvious now. Lots of friction and darkness as well as opposition to all that, which has been inspiring to see. Alexis moved north of Brooklyn recently, somewhere with trees and cliffs, providing us with a new space to write and record without pissing off neighbors, so that’s what we’ve been doing. We didn't want to wait another year or two to release something. We like the idea of putting out shorter records at a more consistent rate, so we're gonna give it a shot for a while, see how it feels. Thanks for listening. Take care.”

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Announce "Holy Mountain"

HOLY MOUNTAIN

Gallagher says: “It was one of the first things David and I did on the first week of working together. I knew instantly that it was going to be the first single. There’s so much joy in it. Until the day I die, it will be one of my favourite pieces of music that I’ve ever written. It sounds great live. My kids love it, my friends’ kids all love it and I am sure ‘the kids’ will love it.”
The 12” vinyl release features Holy Mountain accompanied by an exclusive, instrumental version of the track, while the B-Side features Dead In The Water (Live at RTÉ 2FM Studios, Dublin). Also offered as an album bonus track, Dead In The Water catches Gallagher and keyboard player, Mike Rowe in between takes at a Dublin radio station. Such moments are destined to go unrepeated, with Gallagher vowing never to re-record it any other way.
