JOHN CARPENTER: TRENT REZNOR AND ATTICUS ROSS CREATE NEW INTERPRETATION OF "HALLOWEEN" THEME

JOHN CARPENTER: TRENT REZNOR AND ATTICUS ROSS CREATE NEW INTERPRETATION OF "HALLOWEEN" THEME RELEASED IN ADVANCE OF FORTHCOMING ALBUMANTHOLOGY: MOVIE THEMES 1974-1998 LISTEN TO THE TRENT REZNOR & ATTICUS ROSS VERSION OF "HALLOWEEN" HERE: https://NIN.lnk.to/JCH

John Carpenter is set to release  Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 , a collection of 13 of his classic movie themes newly recorded with the collaborators that worked on his  Lost Themes  albums, next Friday, October 20th via Sacred Bones. To celebrate the impending release, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have shared a new version of Carpenter's iconic "Halloween" theme (appropriately landing on DSPs on Friday the 13th). Reznor adds: "I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see Halloween when it came out in 1978. We left the theater forever changed. We were damaged and scarred, with the shit genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. John Carpenter, it's your fault that I turned out the way I did." Speaking about the new version, John Carpenter states, "Moody and dark, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' version of HALLOWEEN does amazing justice to the original. I'm impressed." On the new album Carpenter is joined by the musicians that accompanied him on his last two releases and subsequent tours: his son, Cody Carpenter, and godson, Daniel DaviesAnthology...is a near-comprehensive survey of John Carpenter's greatest themes, from his very first movie (the no-budget sci-fi film  Dark Star ) to 1998's supernatural Western,  Vampires . Those sit alongside the driving, Led Zeppelin-influenced  Assault on Precinct 13  theme,  Halloween 's iconic 5/4 piano riff, and the eerie synth work of  The Fog . Carpenter and his band also cover Ennio Morricone's bleak, minimalist theme for  The Thing
John Carpenter is a legend. As the director and composer behind dozens of classic movies, Carpenter has established a reputation as one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of modern cinema, as well as one of its most influential musicians. The minimal, synthesizer-driven themes to films like HalloweenEscape From New York, and Assault on Precinct 13 are as indelible as their images, and their timelessness was evident as Carpenter performed them live in a string of internationally sold-out concert dates in 2016. In the weeks following Anthology's October 20 release, Carpenter will return to the road, playing both classic movie themes and material from his two Lost Themes albums. Tickets for the tour are on sale now, including special VIP packages that include meet and greets with John Carpenter and exclusive merchandise (for more details check www.theofficialjohncarpenter.com). The performances will once again affirm the power of the Horror Master's brilliant work as a composer and musician, and undoubtedly send audiences rushing home to their DVD libraries to dive yet again into the most rewarding filmography in genre cinema.

Montreal's Milk & Bone Share Video for "Daydream"- New Album To Come in 2018

Milk & Bone Share Video For "Daydream"The 1st single From Their Upcoming 2018 Album
milk bone
Three years after the release of their debut single, "New York", Milk & Bone return with "Daydream", the first single from their sophomore effort which is set to be released in winter 2018 via Bonsound. The song delves into waves of comforting ambience and meticulous, textured synths. The duo's voices are intoxicating, and the melody is heightened by the perfect summer-fling rhythm. "Daydream" was produced by Gabriel Gagnon, the Montreal band's early collaborator, and mixed by Gagnon and Howie Beck (Feist, Ron Sexsmith, Charlotte Day Wilson, etc.).
Watch the video HERE:
And read an interview with W Magazine HERE
Stream and share "Daydream" via http://smarturl.it/mb-daydreamThe single is available now on all digital platforms.
Milk & Bone (Laurence Lafond-Beaulne and Camille Poliquin) create melodies that are both dreamy and harrowing. Made up of electronic textures and layered synths, Lafond-Beaulne and Poliquin's sonic universe distinguishes itself from the electro-pop genre thanks to their perfectly-paired vocal colours. Their mesmerizing harmonies explore the darker aspects of love, friendship and lust. Their tightly-knit bond, palpable in their creative process and throughout the album, is a key part of their live shows.
Milk & Bone's debut album, Little Mourning, grabbed the attention of The GuardianNYLON, V Magazine, The Globe and Mail and Interview Magazine, and was long-listed for the 2015 Polaris Music Prize. The single Pressure hit 5 million streams on Spotify. The band won the 2015 Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada "Breakthrough Award" and was nominated at the 2016 JUNO Awards for Breakthrough Group of the Year. They were also nominated at the Canadian Screen Awards for Achievement in Music - Original Song for Podz' movie King Dave, and the film's popular theme song, "Natalie", has over 3.5 million streams on Spotify.

KID CONGO & THE PINK MONKEY BIRDS SHARE 'SPIDER BABY' VIDEO / HAUNTED HOP HALLOWEEN TOUR BEGINS 10/25!

KID CONGO & THE PINK MONKEY BIRDS SHARE 'SPIDER BABY' VIDEO!TAKEN FROM LIMITED EDITION HALLOWEEN 7" AVAILABLE ON IN THE RED RECORDS! HAUNTED HOP HALLOWEEN PARTY TOUR W/ JONATHAN TOUBIN STARTS OCTOBER 25TH! "The Ghost on the stairs. The Vampire’s bite. Better beware, there’s a full moon tonight” cackles horror show host Kid Congo Powers as he recites a ghoulish tome in Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds new video,“Spider Baby”. Hatched in their rock n roll cauldron for the best holiday of all time, HALLOWEEN, the deliriously spooky band pay homage to their favorite 1967 horror cult film “Spider Baby” or “The Maddest Story Ever Told”, depending on which monster you ask! The rollicking song was used in the opening credits of the movie and sung by Lon Chaney Jr., whom (like in the lyrics) has played “Frankenstein , Dracula , and even The Mummy”. In the video, Kid doubles as narrator and a mischievous pyromaniac beatnik whom crawls on all fours, sneaks in the dark and delights in fire laden hijinks. Shot and directed by artist Ryan Hill, whom also designs the Pink Monkey Birds album covers, he splatters blood red hues and “boos” in this psychedelic horror house! We leave you, dear reader, with some scary sage advice : “Sit around the fire with a cup of brew. A Fiend and a Werewolf on each side of you. This Cannibal orgy is strange to behold, and the maddest story ever told!” Spide Baby is available now as a limited edition 7" on In The Red Records.   Watch the Spider Baby video  Since 2010, New York Night Train’s mad scientist Jonathan Toubin annually retires to his laboratory to conjure the soundtrack for your Halloween party season.  His Haunted Hop dance party mixes aren’t from CD’s, MP3’s, LP compilations, or even reissue or bootleg singles, but rather exclusively from hard-won original 45rpm vinyl. Toubin spends all year digging through cobwebbed basements accumulating spooky eccentric records for the occasion. The dee jay patiently stockpiles and sits on the hot wax until he can barely contain the pressure and finally releases the bats on his anxious public every October to dancefloors worldwide. The mixes are a small sampling of the hours of non-stop action you get in the club. New York Night Train’s soul proprietor has thus far pulled over 200 sides for eight years of mixes (all currently archived on Mixcloud) as well as a Burger Records Halloween cassette. This year’s model, in the words of Jonathan Toubin, “a fantastic voyage deep into nightmares, madness, witchcraft, voodoo, and the zombie lifestyle,” is yet another exquisite beast built on hits and misses, classics and obscurities, canonical musicians and horror show hosts! The three dimensions, the good, the bad, and the ugly, are all Frankensteined together to take you to another dimension.  LISTEN: Jonathan Toubin's NY Night Train 2017 Haunted Hop Halloween Mix by New York Night Train  An early Halloween (trick or) treat! The East Coast and Midwest can experience these amazing sounds the week leading up to Halloween, as Jonathan Toubin's legendary multimedia New York Night Train Haunted Hop Halloween party barnstorms select towns with Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds and virtuosic 16mm loop projectionist Spencer Bewley! The tour culminates in NYC, with an epic extravaganza at Knockdown Center (last year more than 1000 came out on a Monday) headlined by Shannon and the Clams, featuring multiple rooms of bands, visuals, go go, food, cinema, and way more than we could ever list...

MAVIS STAPLES UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “LITTLE BIT”

MAVIS STAPLES UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “LITTLE BIT”VIA BILLBOARD.COMUPCOMING POIGNANT NEW ALBUM IF ALL I WAS WAS BLACK PRODUCED BY JEFF TWEEDY IN STORES NOVEMBER 17ON TOUR WITH BOB DYLAN NEXT WEEKMavis Staples has unveiled her latest single “Little Bit” via Billboard.com. The song is a cautionary anthem of all the ways in which those regarded as suspicious have to weigh their actions just to survive day to day: "A little bit too high, a little bit too low, a little bit out of line, and my baby won't make it home." Mavis leads listeners through call-and-response vocals in a soundscape that recalls Sly and the Family Stone's mix of joy and social criticism unfolding over a funk-edged rhythm section. Listen herehttp://spoti.fi/2yNehpAMavis has joined forces again with songwriter-producer (and Wilco frontman) Jeff Tweedy for her new album entitled  If All I Was Was Black , out on November 17th.Their first partnership in 2010, You Are Not Alone, won a Grammy Award for Best Americana album. Their second effort together, One True Vine, was a Grammy nominee. But  If All I Was Was Black  marks the first time Tweedy has composed an entire album of original songs for Mavis' legendary voice and a nation she's uniquely poised to address. In the wake of the current race-baiting and rhetoric of exclusion appearing not just on the streets, but issuing from statehouses and even the White House, Mavis and Tweedy found themselves completely in sync and wanting to say something about the fissures dividing the country. "We're not loving one another the way we should," Mavis confided, as if sharing the secret to happiness, or something better. "Some people are saying they want to make the world great again, but we never lost our greatness. We just strayed into division.”Explaining why he decided to tackle the state of the union, Tweedy said, "I've always thought of art as a political statement in and of itself—that it was enough to be on the side of creation and not destruction. But there is something that feels complicit at this moment in time about not facing what is happening in this country head on."The lyrics are occasionally shot through with anger.  "I have a mind to bury them whole, when they go low," Mavis sings on "We Go High." "There's evil in the world, and there's evil in me" opens the first verse of "Try Harder." "Oh, they lie, and they show no shame" adds a harsh undercurrent to "Who Told You That," an anthem against accepting the status quo. Unsettling musical elements wind their way through the record, too, from the abrasive guitar distortion of "Try Harder" to a descending bass line that signals danger on "Little Bit.”Despite all this, the mood ring on Mavis' 2017 outing is set to love, which runs through and over the fury and despair. The songs move less like a hammer and more like the tide, with Mavis countering the anger with an eye toward the work that is required to bring change. She is singing the world as it is, but also a way forward. Mavis is sure that the answer is to lift each other up. She's not embracing the anxious hesitation of respectability politics but the possibilities of love Mavis will join Bob Dylan for a series of North American live dates kicking off October 17th in Salt Lake City, UT and ending with a five night run in NYC at the Beacon Theater.Pre-orders for  If All I Was Was Black  are available now at mavisstaples.com

Her ‘Fear The Future Tour’ made its world premiere on Saturday in Los Angeles as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival. January 2018 dates have been added to the international run including The Palladium in Los Angeles on January 25.

She also launched the second season of her Beats 1 show Mixtape Delivery Service this week.

Praise for ‘MASSEDUCTION’:
*“A career summit. It’s her ‘Lemonade,’ her ‘OK Computer’—whatever reference conveys the urgency with which it demands to be listened to when it drops.” – Nylon

*“'MASSEDUCTION' is the best thing she's ever done and there are no bad St. Vincent records.” - Buzzfeed

*“Clark’s most intriguingly complex album to date.” - Rolling Stone

*“Clark at her most ferocious.” – Pitchfork

*“Pop is a vehicle, a form, a challenge, a temptation and an adversary for St. Vincent on ‘MASSEDUCTION.’ Its crisp, catchy but still idiosyncratic songs ponder, among other things, what to make of fame and success.” – NY Times‘MASSEDUCTION’ TRACK LIST:
