Stereo MC’s Announce US Dates Ahead Of Cruel World Festival / Tickets On Sale Now

Stereo MC’s Announce US Dates Ahead Of Cruel World Festival  Tickets On Sale Now
 Photo: Julia Khoroshilov
Today, globally revered Hip-Hop/Electronic dance pioneers Stereo MC’s announce new US dates leading up to their appearance at the  Cruel World  festival on May 17th. The band came to the East Coast in January for their first US shows since 2001 and while in New York, they stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform their classic hit, Connected - you can watch that here Featuring original members Rob Birch (Rob B), Nick Hallam, and Cath Coffey, with drummer/percussionist, Tansay Omar, fans can expect to hear tracks from across the Brit Award-winner’s seven studio albums, including ConnectedStep It UpElevate My MindLost In Musicand many others.  Stereo MC’s are probably best known for their international Top 20 hit single ‘Connected’, which was released in 1992 and was the title track of their album the same year, reaching #2 in the UK Album Chart. It also contained the hits ‘Step It Up’, ‘Creation’, and ‘Ground Level’, and led to the group winning two Brit Awards for Best Group and Best Album in 1994. Being childhood friends and neighbors, Rob and Nick formed Stereo MC’s in the mid-eighties, with the pair inspired to make music by their combined love of early hip-hop, funk and electronic music. The Stereo MC’s initially pressed their first 12” vinyl and started their own independent record label called Gee Street Records, with Kiss DJ Richie Rich and budding entrepreneur, Jon Baker. When Gee Street attracted the attention of 4th & Broadway in 1989, the duo recorded the debut Stereo MC’s album, ‘33-45-78’. Nick says, “When we started getting gigs around that time, we thought it would be great to have live drums, even if they made the turntables bounce around. But when we went to the States, the U.S. branch of our record company said, ‘We’re not paying for a drummer to come on tour, because you don’t do that with this type of music’. There were a few barriers to cross before dance music was established as a live music force and was given equal rights in the touring and festival scene. Island Records had a good attitude to developing young acts, though, and we were given time to grow both in the studio and on the road.” After releasing 33-45-78, the band toured with De La Soul, Living Colour and A Certain Ratio. They then headed to New York to record their second album, ‘Supernatural’ in 1990, bearing the singles ‘Elevate My Mind’ (which made it into the US R&B Charts) and ‘Lost in Music’ which was a club hit in the UK and US. This success was further cemented when they supported Happy Mondays on a US tour. Rob says, “If we weren’t on the road or making our own tracks we were remixing for other artists. Life didn’t have a clock, you just worked and vibed until you dropped on the sofa and woke up in your clothes six hours later.” “The summer of 1992 saw us finish our 3rd LP, Connected, which we toured solidly for about 18 months after its release. It was a big success for us and everybody involved and was a beautiful moment in our development. Navigating our way through the aftermath of over-touring fatigue and life catching up with you was challenging, and for a while the creative spark was hard to find, so we went into recluse mode and built our own studio again so we could get out of the music biz domain.” Stereo MC’s were in demand for remix work from the likes of U2MadonnaTrickyPressure DropDavid HolmesTerranova and Mo’Wax records, as well as earlier mixes for The Jungle BrothersQueen Latifah and RZA. After making a mix album for the DJ Kicks series on Studio!K7 in 1999, 2001 saw the release of the band’s fourth album ‘Deep Down & Dirty’, followed by a tour that included opening for Jane's Addiction in the US. The album’s title track became Stereo MC’s fifth consecutive Top 20 hit single in a row. Following recordings for PiasK7 and Graffiti, they continued their long relationship with club music, starting the label ‘connected in 2015, initially to release their own new music, while also releasing other artists, and have since become established in the ever-popular Afro House genre. They have also collaborated with some of the biggest current names in house music via releases with Adam Port and Keinemusik and Stil Vor Talent, and have featured guest spots with Re.YouAnja SchneiderFred Everything and many others. US Dates:May 8 Dallas, TX Granada TheaterMay 9 Austin, TX The MohawkMay 11 Denver, CO Oriental TheaterMay 12 Seattle, WA CrocodileMay 13 Portland, OR HoloceneMay 15 Oakland, CA New ParishMay 17 Pasadena, CA Cruel World festival Tickets for all dates are available from www.stereomcs.com

The second single off CDSM’s forthcoming long-player – Convertible Hearse (May 23rd, 2025 via EXAG’ Records & Mothland) – sees the Atlanta post-punks flirt with old-school hip-hop as a means to throw shade on pay-to-play culture, also taking a shot at proverbial gatekeepers. The deliciously delirious retro rap hit single “What Do You Make?” (March 18th, 2025), as is the case with much of the band’s catalogue, is jam-packed with alien-esque sounds: bit crushed electronics, electric piano hooks, woodblock grooves; and, last but not least, an oh-so satisfying slap bass easter egg for nerds like us. RIYL: Peaches, Beastie Boys, or Grandmaster Flash.

CDSM on the track, "What Do You Make?” is an open-ended question searching for a close-minded answer with the deftness of a hand blindly rummaging through a knife drawer. Keep your eyes on the prize – if it can’t be monetized, you won’t be recognized! Let your work adorn the refrigerator door of your life and validate your purpose in the only truly universal language – cold hard cash."

CDSM Bio:

CSDM a.k.a. Celebrity Death Slot Machine is a “freakout post-punk group” (FLOOD Magazine) based in Atlanta, GA. Their stylish sonic onslaught is anchored around dancey rhythms, atypical synthesizer work, timely saxophone growls, as well as goth rock-esque melodies that serve to recount bizarre humor-laden tales from a derelict parallel universe. Since forming in 2021, the band has toured North America and Europe, sharing the stage with likes of The KVB, BODEGA, Sheer Mag, Iceage, and Model/Actriz, while also taking part in events such as SXSW, Treefort Festival, Art Rock Festival, Hopscotch Festival, and M for Montreal. CDSM’s introductory EP, Hell Stairs (2022), was both glamorous and bleak, swanky and derelict, uplifting and crushing, described by the band as “hedonism clinking in your glass, change jingling in the pit of your chest.” Atlanta’s hot new commodity followed with a slew of music videos – “GOGO” (2023), “Entertainment” (2023), “DOM” (2023), and “SHADY” (2024) – amidst a stretch that saw them bring their sweaty live set to the very best underground venues the United States, Canada and Europe have to offer. The death disco purveyors are to unearth their debut full-length: Convertible Hearse (May 23rd, 2025 via EXAG’ Records & Mothland).CDSM LINKS

THE TWIN DUO RECENTLY WRAPPED PRODUCTION ON THEIR  HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED DEBUT FULL-LENGTH

discord social link x social link instagram social link bandcamp social link website social link tiktok social link amazon social link photo by David ArnToronto breakthrough band Softcult has spent the last six months in their home studio, meticulously crafting and pouring their souls into their long-awaited full-length debut.

But before they share it with the world, the twin duo of Mercedes (she/her) and Phoenix (they/them) Arn-Horn will bring their unapologetic, politically-charged sound to the US just when we need it most.

Mercedes shares: "We're excited to finally play some new songs from our upcoming record, especially at a time where the need for community, equality, and solidarity is more important than ever. These songs are some of our favorites that we've ever written, speaking on issues that are very important to us, and we can't wait to share them with you all."

"We're proud to create safe spaces where everyone is welcome at our shows–– except the hateful bigots, duh. We're going to be playing a mix of old favorites and new material. We're really looking forward to feeling the energy of how they come across in a live atmosphere for the first time."

Sunday, June 22, 2025 – Boston, MA – USA – The Middle East Softcult - One Of The Pack [official video] Much like their hard-hitting live performance, Softcult's music is a consistent reminder that the revolution is very much alive.  Last year's Heaven EP flipped the concept of an afterlife on its head, calling out contradictions of a world fixated on the future while ignoring the very real need for change in the present. It landed them on the cover of Spotify's MARROW playlist (over 4.7 million followers), and brought them on tour across North America, UK, Europe, Australia & Southeast Asia.

Born in the studio and free from the industry's constraints, Softcult has been busy carving out their own universe. They've been championed by artists like Hayley Williams and Oli Sykes, opened for massive bands like Incubus and MUSE, and highlighted as a band to watch by Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, Paste, Consequence, Alternative Press, Kerrang!, CBC, The Gay Times, and more.

And they do it all themselves––Phoenix leads production, engineering, and artwork, while Mercedes writes, produces, directs and edits their deeply personal and impactful videos. Embracing a fully DIY ethos, they create and produce their own monthly zine,  SCripture , and remain actively engaged with their fan community through the Softcult Discord server. twitter social link instagram social link website social link

For You

PRE-SAVE/ORDER: https://yukimi.lnk.to/for-youPR

(March 18, 2025) - Yukimi, the celebrated vocalist and co-founder of Grammy-nominated band Little Dragon, shares her new single “Peace Reign.” A hopeful song about believing and striving for a peaceful world, the song starts with a sweet message from Yukimi’s son, “you have to believe it for it to come true, it’s right in front of you.” This is the latest offering from her debut album For You due March 28th via Ninja Tune.

“Peace Reign is about not giving up on the dream that this world can be a peaceful place. Believing in hope and a brighter future for the generations to come,” says Yukimi.

Her debut solo album sees her step away from a band formation to create some of her most beautiful and intimate work to date: both intensely personal and brilliantly relatable. On For You, Yukimi elegantly entwines musical styles from jazz, soul and electronic pop to hip hop, roots and psychedelia, but the themes of her solo songs dig deeper than ever, across love, loss, feminine energy and innate resilience.

For You will include previously released singles “Stream of Consciousness” featuring British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas. The collaboration marks Yukimi’s first time writing and creating music with another woman, which allowed her to fully delve into her feminine energy; “Sad Makeup,” which was written “about those days when you try to push down and control a sad feeling” says Yukimi; “Winter Is Not Dead,” inspired by those long, dark winters in Scandinavia; and the self-empowering debut single “Break Me Down” which was also in collaboration with Lianne La Havas and Little Dragon bandmate and long-time friend Erik Bodin.

Reflecting on For You, Yukimi shares: “I want this music to really be a force to connect people to each other, and step away from the madness of everything on the planet right now. And I’m excited about embarking on that journey on my own – the expression really feels pure.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Yukimi will embark on a full North American tour beginning in April, making stops in major cities including New York, Toronto, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Full tour details and ticket information can be found at https://yukimi-music.com/.

Renowned for her distinct and graceful voice, Yukimi has captivated audiences since co-founding Little Dragon in 1996. With the band, she has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, from Coachella and Glastonbury to NPR’s Tiny Desk—while collaborating with an impressive roster of artists, including Mac Miller, Kali Uchis, Gorillaz, JID, KAYTRANADA, Flume, and De La Soul. Her ability to transcend genres and craft deeply moving music has cemented her status as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary music.

Patrick Wolf Announces USA/Canada Tour + New Single Ft. Zola Jesus 'Limbo' - New Album 'Crying The Neck' Out June 13

Patrick Wolf Shares New Single Featuring Zola Jesus 'Limbo'
New Album Crying The Neck Out June 13
USA/Canada Fall Tour Announced

March 18, 2025 - New York, NY: Patrick Wolf shares a new single today, an anthemic duet featuring Zola Jesus entitled ‘Limbo.’ The track is the second single from his much-anticipated new album Crying The Neck out June 13 via Apport/Virgin Music.

Additionally, Wolf is announcing USA and Canadian live dates, his first visit stateside in twelve years to follow his UK and EU shows. All live dates are listed below. Tickets on sale Friday March 21. The USA and Canadian wing of the “Stations of The Sun Tour” will see Patrick returning to his very early Lycanthropy days of touring the states in the back of his Tennessee manager's car, yet this time driving himself coast to coast with a car full of instruments on what is set to be a solo roadtrip of an adventure, re-connecting to an audience not seen for a decade and meet those who’ve discovered his work in the meantime. The setlist will span both his best known work and the new album, acknowledging the twenty year anniversary of his much loved second album Wind in the Wires and exploring its relationship to Crying the Neck. Some nights of the tour will be seated and some will be standing, so Wolf is developing two shows for the tour, one to explore his more electronic work, conjuring the magic of his beat-driven setlists and seated evenings that will lend themselves more to the classical, electro-acoustic and folk roots of his work.

Commenting on the new single 'Limbo,' Patrick Wolf says: “I first started imagining a limbo - or purgatory - to set a song in after seeing a painting ‘The Scapegoat’ by William Holman Hunt in the Manchester art gallery. Years later on bleak lockdown weekly food drives to Bromley and the arguments and tensions in a relationship that brewed in the claustrophobia of the car made me want to begin writing a duet about the realism of a couple cutting off each other’s sentences and debating whether to persist with or escape each other. I reset the song to a strip of road in Thanet where I live with the couple now fugitive from the shadow of a country on the brink of war and with the painting from the Manchester gallery in my head, the land unfurled to the purgatory of the scapegoat and the rainbow, which I have our couple pulling up to as a roadside inn for the night in the song. So much of Crying The Neck is a series of responses to decay, death or loss, this song is the lovers’ response to a relationship in limbo and the only song on the album about a romantic relationship. I have adored Zola’s work since her first ‘Stridulum’ album and we have been pen friends since 2011. As I finished writing the song here by the quiet of the sea and seeing pictures of her own wilderness of woodland where she lives now in Wisconsin, I felt we were aligned somewhat in spirit at this point of our work. It was only her voice I imagined to duet with me and now I can’t imagine anyone else riding shotgun beside me on this our summer gothic road trip of a song.”

Listen to 'Limbo' on YouTube:

The aftermath of addiction, crisis, bankruptcy, recovery and survival shaped The Night Safari, Patrick Wolf’s 2023 return to music after ten years lost to creative impasse and personal upheaval. Now, with seventh studio album Crying The Neck, the 41-year-old has created a confident and hopeful record inspired by the transfiguring power of grief at the death of his mother, rehabilitation, local folklore and the East Kentish landscape.

Crying The Neck is the first new album in thirteen years and the first in a planned four album series, was written and recorded in the Kent coastal town of Ramsgate that Wolf now calls home. Here, he has a peaceful studio in the garden, the place in which he was able to find his voice again. In a period of rebuilding, Crying The Neck was entirely written, composed, produced and arranged by Wolf himself, with Brendan Cox brought in as co-producer and engineer in the last three years to help finish an album a decade in the making.

Patrick Wolf is one of the most talented and idiosyncratic musicians of his generation, with a run of critically hailed albums, starting with Lycanthropy in 2003 to Lupercalia in 2011 which saw him incorporating everything from viola, celtic harp, dulcimer, baritone ukulele, piano, harpsichord, analog synthesizers and re-sampled field recordings in his music and collaborating with the likes of Marianne Faithfull, Tilda Swinton, Angelo Badalamenti and Patti Smith, among others. He most recently released The Night Safari EP two years ago was his first body of work in ten years and Crying The Neck is his first studio album in thirteen years.

PELICAN SHARE “INDELIBLE” FROM FIRST ALBUM IN SIX YEARS, STREAM IT HERE

FLICKERING RESONANCE SET FOR RELEASE ON RUN FOR COVER MAY 16, PRE-ADD/PRE-ORDER HERE

Chicago heavy rock institution Pelican have shared “Indelible,” another taste of their first full length in six years, Flickering Resonance (set for release May 16 via Run For Cover). Like the album’s previous single “Cascading Crescent,” the new song arrives paired with a psychedelic visual by multidisciplinary artist Joshua Ford - watch it here. The new track arrives as the band winds down their rapturously received tour with Russian Circles, a pairing that has yielded huge turnouts and led to sold out theaters in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Austin, Minneapolis, Denton, as well as filling iconic rooms like The Fillmore in San Francisco. Pelican head back out in July for an east coast run with Porcelain before shifting to Europe for a run of festivals in August, including appearances at Arctangent, Motocultor, Void Festival, and more.

In anticipation of the release of the new album, the band have announced a very special early listening event in partnership with Chicago independent brewing powerhouse Half Acre and Half Acre’s Second Setting Cannabis. The band will be on hand at Half Acre’s Bowmanville brewery on Easter Sunday (aka 4/20) for a special DJ set that will include a debut playthrough of the new album, along with a selection of favorite jams and other Pelican rarities. Half Acre will be serving pints of their terpene-infused Second Setting IPA, and will be joined onsite by local cannabis purveyors Second Setting and the Budrista Club. The band will have special limited edition merch on hand, including an event-specific 420 shirt (limited to 50 prints, see the Graffix-inspired artwork below) and the very last remaining copies of the “Cascading Crescent" 7” vinyl which includes a vocal version (exclusive to the vinyl) fronted by emo icon Geoff Rickly of Thursday on the b-side.

Though Pelican’s thick sonic backbone remains intact, Flickering Resonance demonstrates a more humanistic side of the band, tapping into the spirit of their formative era when Laurent Schroeder-Lebec teamed with fellow guitarist Trevor Shelley de Brauw and brothers Bryan and Larry Herweg (on bass and drums respectively) during the heyday of Chicago’s all ages hub Fireside Bowl. The venue’s variegated booking style would often result in post-hardcore, space-rock, indie, metal, and emo bands sharing bills, unwittingly providing a vast template of influences for the young band. The album’s eight songs manifest as an outward expression of the deep, grounded appreciation that dwells within the band members.

Today, Yeah Yeah Yeahs have announced new 2025 tour dates. The “Hidden In Pieces Tour” will showcase the band's catalog reimagined in a captivating new light, performing in intimate theater settings across both North America and the UK, with support to be announced. The tour – which lands in San Francisco for two shows July 14 and 15 at Davies Symphony Hall – promises an unforgettable experience for fans, featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs accompanied by strings and piano, breathing new life into beloved hits and deep cuts alike, creating a whole new sonic landscape for their music.

"Hi, we’ve missed you, they don’t miss you like we miss you," says the band. "Out of a deep desire to reconnect with our band family and you our lovely fans, YYY’s are embarking on a series of very special shows this summer. The dearly departed David Lynch would say: 'all you need to do is turn on the light and the darkness goes.'' To let our love light shine we will be digging deep into our back catalogue. We’ll be playing songs that are rarely (if ever) performed, alongside all time favorites with new arrangements to delight...and yes there will be acoustic guitars and strings too. We’d love for you to join us for these intimate performances in beautiful iconic theaters to celebrate 25 years of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, not a bad seat in the house!"

This year marks a significant milestone for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as they celebrate 25 years as a band. The "Hidden In Pieces" tour serves as both a retrospective and a celebration of their enduring musical legacy. Pre-sales begin on March 19th at 10am local time with general on-sale starting March 21st at 10am local time here. Visit yeahyeahyeahs.com for more information.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are proud to once again partner with Client Earth by donating a portion of proceeds to support the vital work they do. Client Earth is an environmental charity who use the law to hold polluting companies and negligent governments accountable for the climate and nature crises.

About Yeah Yeah Yeahs:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs formed in New York City in 2000. The group is composed of vocalist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. Their 2022 album Cool It Down was their fifth album and first in nine years. It earned two Grammy nominations, Best Alternative Album and Best Alternative Performance for “Spitting On The Edge Of The World” Feat. Perfume Genius.

Praise for Cool It Down:

"An expansive album that dares to imagine a bold, fresh future."

- The New York Times

“Cool It Down strikes a perfect balance for Yeah Yeah Yeahs—this is a more mature and approachable version of the band befitting their status as middle-aged lifers, but it’s every bit as vibrant and alive as the music of the group’s youth.”

- Wall Street Journal

“Those who've been following its fearless evolution — its growing embrace of silky production and meditative stillness, through which the band has grown while so many other early-2000s darlings faltered — this is both an intuitive and exhilarating step forward.”

- NPR

“Yeah Yeah Yeahs Fight Hard Times With Raw Beauty on ‘Cool It Down’”

- Rolling Stone

“Yeah Yeah Yeahs make a thunderous return with Cool It Down, an album filled with power ballad after power ballad of pure, otherworldly gloom-disco sludge for dark days.”

- Paste

“Expansive, ambitious, and eclectic”

- Consequence

“All wrapped up in eight songs (or rather, seven songs and an epitaph), the record is austere in the way a photograph of the night sky is: deceptively simple, intrinsically grave, and necessarily wondrous.”

- NYLON

"With Cool It Down, it officially feels like the start of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' new era."

- Brooklyn Vegan

SABLE, fABLE Arrives April 11th on Jagjaguwar

Lyric Videos Out Now, Following Special Trail Camera Stream Celebrating Each Song

Today, with the release of two new singles, Bon Iver stretches out a hand and brings listeners further into the love story of SABLE, fABLE. Out April 11th on Jagjaguwar, the project's first album in six years is a tale of one person becoming two. As SABLE,'s darkness gives way to fABLE's radiant light, pain turns to purpose and possibility, stark reflections set the table for vibrant pop music, and feelings of desolate, depressed solitude transform into deep and devoted sensuality.

If SABLE, is the prologue, then fABLE's book recently opened with "Everything Is Peaceful Love," the portrait of a man overwhelmed with happiness upon meeting a future partner. "Walk Home" takes the next step, where in a moment of sex and irrepressible desire, "we don't need no window curtains," sings Justin Vernon, basking in a salmon-colored glow. "We can let the light come in, we can shed your earthly burdens." But fables are not interested in happy endings, and on "If Only I Could Wait," a duet between Justin Vernon and Danielle Haim, two voices intertwine to illustrate the weariness that can follow the joyous flood of new love, when one may no longer have the strength to be the best version of themselves.

Listen to  "If Only I Could Wait (feat. Danielle Haim)" b/w "Walk Home,"   with two new lyric videos out now at  youtube.com/@boniver

Produced by Justin Vernon and Jim-E Stack, SABLE, fABLE was primarily recorded at Vernon's April Base in Wisconsin, after years that the studio spent laying dormant during a renovation. While SABLE,'s triptych of songs was made at a breaking point – reflecting a chapter of fear, atonement and sadness – fABLE is a canvas for the vibrant clarity, focus, healing and celebration that comes with infatuation, when one's eyes are locked with another's. The conceptual genesis for the album, however, occurred on 2.22.22, when Stack arrived at the Base with Danielle Haim. Snowed in for multiple days, Haim suddenly gave voice to the crucial and sacred perspective that unfolds on "If Only I Could Wait." Justin Vernon says:

"For the second look into fABLE, it couldn't be a single; it had to be a double. First, 'Walk Home' is a romp where you can't wait to pull your clothes off fast enough and jump inside bed with your one true lover. And then – the two of singles – 'If Only I Could Wait.' A duet. A bilateral crying question. How long can the two of us hang on to each other?"

In addition to the lyric videos for "If Only I Could Wait" and "Walk Home," and the music video for "Everything Is Peaceful Love" that was directed by filmmaker John Wilson (of HBO's How To with John Wilson), Bon Iver introduced these latest two songs via live-stream this week. Yesterday, from a trail camera feed called In Such A Small Time Frame – which Justin Vernon quietly set up in the trees of Wisconsin last October, and has been using to send messages to viewers ever since - "Walk Home" soundtracked an intimate connection between a couple atop a Floyd bed in the woods. Then, Vernon introduced "If Only I Could Wait" with a routine of original choreography, long inspired by the single.

Following Justin Vernon's on-stage conversation with the Peabody-award winning Krista Tippett in New York City last month, he also discussed SABLE, fABLE with writer Laura Barton last night, presented by Rough Trade at London's EartH.
