Today, with the release of two new singles, Bon Iver stretches out a hand and brings listeners further into the love story of SABLE, fABLE. Out April 11th on Jagjaguwar, the project's first album in six years is a tale of one person becoming two. As SABLE,'s darkness gives way to fABLE's radiant light, pain turns to purpose and possibility, stark reflections set the table for vibrant pop music, and feelings of desolate, depressed solitude transform into deep and devoted sensuality.

If SABLE, is the prologue, then fABLE's book recently opened with "Everything Is Peaceful Love," the portrait of a man overwhelmed with happiness upon meeting a future partner. "Walk Home" takes the next step, where in a moment of sex and irrepressible desire, "we don't need no window curtains," sings Justin Vernon, basking in a salmon-colored glow. "We can let the light come in, we can shed your earthly burdens." But fables are not interested in happy endings, and on "If Only I Could Wait," a duet between Justin Vernon and Danielle Haim, two voices intertwine to illustrate the weariness that can follow the joyous flood of new love, when one may no longer have the strength to be the best version of themselves.

Listen to  "If Only I Could Wait (feat. Danielle Haim)" b/w "Walk Home,"   with two new lyric videos out now at  youtube.com/@boniver

Produced by Justin Vernon and Jim-E Stack, SABLE, fABLE was primarily recorded at Vernon's April Base in Wisconsin, after years that the studio spent laying dormant during a renovation. While SABLE,'s triptych of songs was made at a breaking point – reflecting a chapter of fear, atonement and sadness – fABLE is a canvas for the vibrant clarity, focus, healing and celebration that comes with infatuation, when one's eyes are locked with another's. The conceptual genesis for the album, however, occurred on 2.22.22, when Stack arrived at the Base with Danielle Haim. Snowed in for multiple days, Haim suddenly gave voice to the crucial and sacred perspective that unfolds on "If Only I Could Wait." Justin Vernon says:

"For the second look into fABLE, it couldn't be a single; it had to be a double. First, 'Walk Home' is a romp where you can't wait to pull your clothes off fast enough and jump inside bed with your one true lover. And then – the two of singles – 'If Only I Could Wait.' A duet. A bilateral crying question. How long can the two of us hang on to each other?"

In addition to the lyric videos for "If Only I Could Wait" and "Walk Home," and the music video for "Everything Is Peaceful Love" that was directed by filmmaker John Wilson (of HBO's How To with John Wilson), Bon Iver introduced these latest two songs via live-stream this week. Yesterday, from a trail camera feed called In Such A Small Time Frame – which Justin Vernon quietly set up in the trees of Wisconsin last October, and has been using to send messages to viewers ever since - "Walk Home" soundtracked an intimate connection between a couple atop a Floyd bed in the woods. Then, Vernon introduced "If Only I Could Wait" with a routine of original choreography, long inspired by the single.

Following Justin Vernon's on-stage conversation with the Peabody-award winning Krista Tippett in New York City last month, he also discussed SABLE, fABLE with writer Laura Barton last night, presented by Rough Trade at London's EartH.

Fucked Up’s Limited-Edition 7” “Disabuse” b/w “Self-Driving Man” Out Today

Fucked Up’s Limited-Edition 7” “Disabuse” b/w “Self-Driving Man” Out Today

Today, March 14th, Canadian punk icons Fucked Up release a limited 7” single, “Disabuse” b/w “Self-Driving Man,” on Sub Pop Records. The two blistering punk tracks leap out of the speakers, bearing the indelible stamps of Pacific Northwest punk icons Poison Idea’s 1990 anti-oppression anthem “Discontent” and Japanese punk masters Paintbox’s “The Door.” The two songs are perfectly suited for a Sub Pop single, and fans who buy direct from Sub Pop and the band can grab a limited-edition alternate sleeve based on Poison Idea’s classic 1990 Sub Pop Singles Club 7”.

“Disabuse,” is a song Damian, the band’s singer, wrote for his daughter, who experienced bullying and intimidation. The B-side, “Self Driving Man,” wrestles the out-of-control automation of our world onto the pavement and into the abyss of faceless progress.

The Minus 5 Shares “Blow in My Bag” ft. Debbi Peterson and Patterson Hood; Tour Dates Announced

The Minus 5 Shares “Blow in My Bag”
Features Vocals from Debbi Peterson of The Bangles and Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers
Oar On, Penelope! Out May 30 on Yep Roc Records
Watch/Share: “Blow in My Bag” Official Video
More Tour Dates Announced

Today, indie rock collective The Minus 5, lead by legendary musician and songwriter Scott McCaughey, shares “Blow in My Bag,” the second single and video from Oar On, Penelope! out May 30 on Yep Roc Records.

“Directed” by McCaughey, the instant video includes sneaky appearances of the featured album players Kurt Bloch, Peter Buck, Patterson Hood, Debbi Peterson, Linda Pitmon, and Spencer Tweedy, as well as cameos from the Yep Roc Records artist roster past and present: Alejandro Escovedo, John Wesley Harding, Chuck Prophet and Steve Wynn.

Of the song, Scott McCaughey says: "I had an idea to do a Nancy Sinatra / Lee Hazlewood duet between me and Debbi, but of course, I only mention that because I typically don’t manage to get close enough to elicit comparisons. That being said, I’m not sure what the song is about, but Patterson’s vocals at the end convince me that he knows!"

The album's first single, "Words & Birds," “a power-pop gem” (American Songwriter), is a raucous ode to life, punctuated by cranky guitars and McCaughey’s unmistakable vocal delivery.

Throughout the 12-song collection, McCaughey’s breadth of musical knowledge and appreciation is on full display from the addictive power pop of “Words & Birds” to the gnarly garage rock of “The Garden of Arden,” the Neil Young-influenced Americana of “Bison Queen,” and the bite-sized psychedelia of “Sharktooth.” “The songs feel immediate, relatively unadorned, and somewhat more positive in an indescribable way,” says McCaughey. “The words could be termed stream-of-consciousness, which is nothing new from this sector, but there seems to be a ray of light fighting its way through the usual twisted tales.”

Produced by Scott McCaughey and mixed by legendary engineer Ed Stasium (The Replacements, Ramones, Talking Heads), Oar On, Penelope! is The Minus 5’s first album of all-original material in five years and features help from some of his most trusted allies: Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers), Debbi Peterson (The Bangles), Kurt Bloch (The Fastbacks), Linda Pitmon (Baseball Project, Filthy Friends), and Spencer Tweedy.

Over a four-decade career, indie rock cult hero Scott McCaughey has been a member of many bands, including R.E.M., Young Fresh Fellows, Baseball Project, Filthy Friends, and Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3, to name a few. Still, The Minus 5 has remained one of the most enduring projects of his storied résumé. Suffering a near-fatal stroke in 2017, it was under the The Minus 5 name that McCaughey put out the recordings of Stroke Manor, featuring the original songs that detail his recovery through music therapy.

Formed in 1993 by Scott McCaughey, The Minus 5 is known for its collaborative ethos and ever-changing lineup, which has included some of the most celebrated names in music, from Jeff Tweedy and Wilco to The Decemberists, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie, Kelly Hogan, M. Ward, Chuck Prophet, Michael McCready of Pearl Jam, Alejandro Escovedo, and many more. The band embodies the communal spirit that has been a hallmark of the band since its inception.

Coffin Prick shares new single ahead of new LP & tour w/ Cap'n Jazz

Coffin Prick shares new single, "Soap," ahead of new LP on Temporal Drift & tour w/ Cap'n Jazz

FFO: Latin Playboys, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Scott Walker, Chris & Cosey

STREAM: "Soap" -
Streaming Services

Today Coffin Prick shares the single "Soap" ahead of his new album, Loose Enchantment, due May 16 on Temporal Drift - you can pre-order the LP now. Coffin Prick will open for Cap'n Jazz on select dates this July (full tour dates listed below).

More background on "Soap":
“This tune, a reconstructed skeleton, was first conceived of a few years before I recorded the version you’re hearing for yourself now. Turned inside out from its original instrumental form, a vocal song of secrets tightly held in broken hands! Featuring the first appearance of acoustic drumming on a Coffin Prick number (Ably handled by CP live-band drum man, Alejandro Salazar-Dyer), "Soap" is my ode to the inexplicable allure and dichotomy of disappearing AND being found out. A way of scrubbing the record clean. Keeping clean is more than mere allusion. The only “guitar solo” on the album. Yes…You read that right.”

***
Loose Enchantment, this latest Coffin Prick record, is music conceived of in a different frame of mind for humans living in a world nearly-disenchanted with itself. The album consists of eleven new pieces of music recorded by Coffin Prick himself at his home in Los Angeles, a great city of quicksand-like commitments and those who love them enough to uphold the ends of their collective bargains. A record as much about the confusion of modern life as it is endeavored to expose the lusts in the very loins of creation. Sounds enchanting enough for you? Let’s look a little more closely…

Coffin Prick primarily records on his own, though occasionally receives great collaborative assistance from a sometimes-silent and shadowy partner, Pancho. When the time is right, he leans on a host of harmonically sympathetic luminaries that exist in and out of his immediate musical community, including Steven Brown (Tuxedomoon), Alejandro Salazar-Dyer (Rincs), Kathy Lea (Soft Location), John Herndon (Tortoise), and Aaron Fernandez Olson (LA Takedown). These musical endeavors implement elements of the technologically advanced and the undeniably broken. Equally informed by the not-so-distant past as imaginary future scenarios, his ongoing recorded life continues to mine this deep well. Not so much a “solo” performer as an idea, Coffin Prick is a malleable form whose potential is concurrently cemented and unknown.

On the heels of 2023’s Laughing (Sophomore Lounge), Coffin Prick got busy. And fast. Playing shows into the year with a newly minted live band, while simultaneously working day and night in his home studio laying the ground for what would become Loose Enchantment. Whereas he was essentially a recording know-nothing at the inception of his last LP, he’d learned a thing or two about better capturing his ideas by this point, taking the sidesteps and victories born of the experience Laughing provided and turning the bright lights on them. As many of Los Angeles’s drivers choose to do, it was time to take some surface roads. Odes to self-delusion, the mysteries of creation, cleanliness, and the secrets in other people’s lives.
A little Loose Enchantment for everyone, basically.

Planning For Burial to release first new LP in 8 years: ‘It’s Closeness, It’s Easy’

Planning for Burial to release first new LP in 8 years:
It’s Closeness, It’s Easy

Out 5/30 on The Flenser, listen to first single
"A Flowing Field of Green"

See PFB on tour in May, June, July in North America

Photo credit: Matt Hannon | Hi-res here

Planning for Burial, the solo project of Thom Wasluck, has announced its first new album since 2017's Below the House titled It's Closeness, It's Easy  Set for release May 30th on The Flenser, the record is a soundtrack to life’s quiet changes—grief, love, and the bonds that time can’t break.

If Below the House was about returning home, following in the footsteps of your father and joining a union, and leaving behind youth’s wild days, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy embraces what comes next—the weight of all years, the quiet shifts, the reckoning with what remains. This record is many things; it captures the slow drift of time, the unnoticed shifts in a loved one—the creeping changes in mental health, the quiet pull of addiction, the kind of grief that settles in the bones rather than announces itself.

Along with the announcement, PFB shares a first look at the album with the cavernous and foreboding single “A Flowing Field of Green.” Wasluck comments: "When I first wrote it I was thinking about how often on tour or when visiting other cities I’d want to move there, away from everything I know. But I’ve been to a lot of places and lived in a few too and realized everywhere will suck if you let it. You gotta be the change you wanna see, you gotta make the things you want to happen become a reality no matter where you’re at."

Combining vast heaviness and delicate ambience, Planning for Burial weaves a densely textured sonic palette where thick swaths of sound crash and roar, giving way to shimmers of celestial bliss. It’s potent stuff, and none-more-so than this first single "A Flowing Field of Green."

Listen / share "A Flowing Field of Green"

At its core, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy is about stepping into middle age and taking stock. It confronts the reality of living with the hand that’s been dealt and searching for meaning in what remains. It speaks to loss—the crushing weight of saying goodbye to a beloved 17 year-old cat, the slow-motion grief of watching friends self-destruct, the inescapable passage of time as it bears down on aging parents and the self. But it also reflects the warmth of reconnection, the kind of love that never burns out but instead deepens. The feeling of picking up where things left off, untouched by the years in between.

Though written over the course of two years, the recording process reflects a sense of immediacy. Rather than assembling songs piece by piece over time, the album took shape in singular, immersive sessions—less an act of construction, more an unveiling of something already waiting to take shape.

Rooted in a staunch DIY ethos, Wasluck handles every aspect of Planning for Burial project himself—recording the music, designing the artwork, and performing live as a one-man band. He books his own tours, ever and independent creative. This hands-on approach has led Planning for Burial to play hundreds of shows solidifying his place in the underground music scene. A defining moment came in 2018 when he performed at the Meltdown Festival in London, curated by Robert Smith of The Cure.

As of 2025 Planning for Burial has existed for 20 years. Wasluck’s debut full-length, Leaving (2009), was released on Enemies List Home Recordings, the in-house label of Have a Nice Life. In 2014, he joined The Flenser with Desideratum, becoming a cornerstone for the label’s connection to community and ethos. The follow-up, Below the House (2017), was met with widespread acclaim, further establishing Planning for Burial as a voice that's singular and unique.

Anoushka Shankar Releases Final Chapter Of Album Trilogy 'Chapter Iii: We Return To Light’ Today Now On Leiter

Anoushka Shankar Releases Final Chapter Of Album Trilogy 'Chapter Iii: We Return To Light’ Today Now On LeiterNorth American Tour Kicked Off This Week With Performances To Come At Big Ears Festival, Stops In Los Angeles, New York And More

BUY/STREAM ‘CHAPTER III: WE RETURN TO LIGHT’

Friday, March 14th, 2025 – Anoushka Shankar, the acclaimed sitarist, producer, composer, and now 11X GRAMMY-nominated artist, today releases the third and final installment of the trilogy of mini-albums she began in 2023 honoring the ever-shifting nature of her experience on earth through, each seeking to capture singular, fleeting moments in time with an act of trust: choosing new collaborators and walking into the recording studio with no more than an initial creative impulse. Chapter III: We Return To Light is out now on Nils Frahm’s LEITER label.

“Three chapters, three geographies,” Shankar scribbled in a diary at a café in Goa on New Year’s Day two years ago, manifesting the ambitious trilogy with nods to her roots, across continents and collaborators. Where Ch I: Forever, For Now – produced by Arooj Aftab and featuring Nils Frahm – conjures the immense stillness and beauty of a sun-kissed garden, the Peter Raeburn-produced Ch. II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn veiled the garden over, giving rise to the womblike power of darkness. The second chapter was up for Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album at this year’s GRAMMYs, and her featured role on Jacob Collier’s song “A Rock Somewhere” was up for the Best Global Performance, marking Shankar’s 10th and 11th nominations.

Central to Ch. III is the mindfulness of India at the root of all her music. For the record, she joined with London-based, Indian multi-instrumentalist Sarathy Korwar, a leading voice in the British jazz scene along with composer and sarod player Alam Khan, son of the famed Indian classical guru, Ali Akbar Khan. Together, the three tap into Shankar’s fascination with Goa Trance – India’s electronic music export - which began in her twenties, when she escaped to the beach state and chased dance floor epiphanies in secret forest raves, participating with wild, youthful abandon.

“Hiraeth,” the first song the trio worked on together, features looping melodies and backward sarod lines, an idea seeded by Khan and developed with Korwar and Shankar. For close listeners, it features an Easter egg in the form of the popular Hindu classical, Raga Palas Kafi, created by Ravi Shankar. Similarly, “Dancing on Scorched Earth” sees the artists locking into each other’s rhythms, radiating a collective intensity built on a foundation of hypnotic simplicity. “I discovered my love of a POG pedal on this track to really enjoy that lower octave crunchiness on my sitar,” says Shankar.

On Ch. III, Shankar fully embraces a looping and bending sound technique, adding a further dimension to her voice and bringing her music outside of Western definitions of “neoclassical” and even further away from sub-continental norms of “fusion,” a dated, catch-all banner for collaborative, experimental music.

The trilogy closes with “We Return to Love,” based on one of Shankar’s favorite ragas, “Manj Khamaj,” played on a beautiful major scale with a twinge of nostalgia. It’s an apt conclusion as the recording was made famous by Shankar and Khan’s fathers who famously concluded many concerts and recordings with it.

This is where the story ends, where the music returns to ancestral echoes while carving a path for modern Indian sounds, where all three artists step into a space of deep-rooted celebration. Ch. III’s final frame is of someone stepping out from a forest rave into the quietude of a shoreline. The feeling is a mix of nostalgia and renewal. It echoes Shankar’s journey through those Goa raves where all she could do was follow a sign and a person, except it’s now Shankar who is signposting the listener. With Chapter III: We Return to Light, feet meet the water, marking the end of a journey, a return to love, and a place of rest—a perfect, radiant conclusion to the trilogy.

Following the album release Shankar will perform at Big Ears festival in Knoxville and begin a headlining tour with stops in Los Angeles, Houston, Toronto, New York City, and more.

“Splitting the difference between classic garage skronk and a metallic murk that eschews doom for grime, The Thing can sometimes seem at war with their own desires: They’re as eager to play heavy riffs as they are to deliver a clean melodic punch.”

“...a much-needed shot in the arm of actual rock and roll.”

“New York psych/garage outfit The Thing are deeply DIY.”

Today, The Thing, one of New York’s most provocative rock bands, releases the first two singles from their upcoming record with “Above Snakes” and “Dave’s TV.” They have revealed that their self-titled third album will arrive in packs of two songs each month, until the 12-track LP is out in full this summer — Stream the first two tracks.

“‘The Thing’ is a fully analog record, tracked live to tape without any computer,” shares the band. “Intended to be listened to loud and fully through, the album reveals a universe of sounds and moods that brings forth our most ‘Thing’ record yet.”

First up in the album’s sequence is “Above Snakes.” An old Western term that means to stay alive and keep on living no matter what life throws at you, The Thing wrote this one with resilience in mind. They set the album’s tone disgruntled but ready to smash all the chains that could possibly bar them from being the band on everyone’s tongue.

Moving into “Dave’s TV,” The Thing shared that this song, “Is about being in love with someone who is in love with someone else. She’s watching Dave’s TV.” Experimenting with a krautrock beat, The Thing’s influences not only geographically wander along with them, but hop through decades they weren’t even alive for. In the official video, the band dials up the camp as they film outside of none other than Dave’s TV store in Millerton, NY — Watch.

Two weeks ago, The Thing announced their European headline tour. After playing this week at Austin, TX’s SXSW, The Thing will then play their hometown of NYC and then Nashville before spending May and June electrifying Europe. While playing internationally, the band will make stops at Relache Festival in France, Best Kept Secret in The Netherlands and the sold out Freak Valley Festival in Germany. 6x GRAMMY® Award-nominated musician/songwriter/producer Steven Wilson’s eighth album The Overview is out today on Fiction Records. Massively ambitious and hugely expansive, Wilson’s most audacious release to date was recently launched with a sell-out screening of Miles Skarin’s accompanying film at London’s BFI IMAX cinema, before multiple sold-out screenings at theatres around the world.

STREAM/PURCHASE THE OVERVIEW

The Overview consists of just two tracks: "Objects Outlive Us" and "The Overview," each inspired by the "overview effect" that astronauts experience viewing the Earth from orbit. Although initially a solo recording, the finished version of The Overview features studio help from regular collaborators Craig Blundell (drums), Adam Holzman (keyboards), and Randy McStine (guitars) alongside a set of lyrics from XTC’s Andy Partridge that help form the story that drives "Objects Outlive Us." The album has a resolutely singular sound and vision that pulls pieces from different periods of Wilson’s 30-plus-year career. There are nods to classic Porcupine Tree records as well as the world-building storytelling of The Raven That Refused To Sing and the forward-thinking electronics of The Future Bites and the spatial audio vision that ran through 2023’s The Harmony Codex. Consistent with Wilson’s reputation as a modern-day producer par excellence the album is also a true audiophile experience, and to this end, spatial / Atmos audio versions of The Overview are available physically and digitally. All vinyl versions of The Overview have been specifically mastered at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road.

The Overview is currently available on vinyl, CD, Blu-ray, limited edition mint vinyl, and digital formats (the deluxe box set format sold out on announcement).

To celebrate the release, Wilson will be setting out on the eagerly awaited North American leg of The Overview Tour – his first full-band solo headline run in the US and Canada in over seven years. Dates get underway for the Live Nation-produced run starting September 9 at San Francisco, CA’s The Masonic and continue through mid-October. Highlights include shows at historic venues as Los Angeles, CA’s The Wiltern (September 10), Toronto, ON’s Danforth Music Hall (September 22), Montreal, QC’s MTELUS (September 25), and Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Paramount (October 2). Artist presales begin Tuesday, January 28 at 10:00 am (local) while on-sales start Friday, January 31 at 10:00 am (local). ABOUT STEVEN WILSON:

Hailed by David Fricke in Rolling Stone for his “fighting spirit and truly progressive ideals in rock composition, group improvisation and emotionally authentic storytelling,” Steven Wilson is, among his many guises, a visionary solo artist, founding member of GRAMMY® Award-nominated British rock band Porcupine Tree, and pioneering spatial audio remixer known for his work with such artists as King Crimson, Yes, Tears For Fears, XTC, New Order, and many more. The Overview follows Wilson’s seventh solo studio album, 2023’s The Harmony Codex, which debuted at #4 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart amidst worldwide critical applause from the likes of MOJO, which praised the groundbreaking collection as “a sonic journey where you never quite know what’s round the corner.”

2022 saw the internationally acclaimed release of Porcupine Tree’s long-awaited eleventh studio album and first release in over 12 years, Closure/Continuation, which debuted at #2 on the UK Albums Chart and reached #1 in Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. An epic world tour followed, making stops in North America, South America, and Europe before culminating with a triumphant sold-out show at London’s famed OVO Arena Wembley. 2022 also saw the publication of Wilson’s much-applauded first memoir, Limited Edition of One (Little, Brown).

What’s more, 2024 was highlighted by The Itself of Itself, the first full-length release from Wilson’s experimental solo project, Bass Communion, in more than 12 years. The album’s limited-edition release was celebrated with Wilson’s only live appearance of 2024, a sold-out performance at London’s intimate Cafe OTO, as well as the long-awaited arrival of the previous Bass Communion catalog at all leading streaming platforms.

Twin Shadow unveils new album 'Georgie'

TWIN SHADOW RELEASES NEW ALBUM

GEORGIE - LISTEN

“HEADLESS HERO” EXAMINES

FATHER FIGURE RELATIONSHIPS - LISTEN

WILL PLAY DATES IN NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES

AND TONIGHT AT SXSW IN AUSTIN

GEORGIE AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE NOW VIA DOM RECS

Today, Twin Shadow releases his sixth album, Georgie, on the independent label Dom Recs.

Twin Shadow, the name under which Dominican-born American musician, director, and producer George Lewis Jr. performs, delivers an intimate, minimal, eleven-song record—one that leans into grief, memory, and the quiet pulse of self-reckoning. Unlike past projects shaped by specific moments of transformation, Georgie wasn’t born from a single event or tragedy. It emerged from a deeper, more fluid place—an artist listening to his own instincts in real time, writing in the moment rather than reacting to it.

“I had to come up with some way of doing it, some way of taking my attitude of genrelessness and really go for it,” Lewis says. “In a moment, I closed my eyes and said: no drums and yes! Instruments without frets.” The album is built on and written with fretless bass and pedal steel—textures that let the songs breathe, that move with an internal, unforced rhythm. “Programming drum machines has been a passion of mine for a long time, but drums always felt like clear markers for ‘style.’ And I didn’t want to be ‘in fashion.’ I didn’t want anything slick. I’ve tried all that. I wanted to feel my own internal pulse—my own clock. Once I committed to no drums, that was enough of a blueprint. The songs poured out quickly.”

That immediacy, that here-and-nowness, is what Georgie is really about. The songs exist without pretense or over-explanation. They are simply there, fully formed, unguarded.

One of the album’s most personal moments is the standout track Headless Hero. “I had two significant father figures in my life, both of whom are now gone,” Lewis explains. “Growing up in a house with a strong mother and three sisters alongside another family with three sisters, my relationship with outside masculine energy has always been complicated. This song reflects on my deep connection with these men, for better and for worse.”

Lewis finished Georgie just as his father’s health began to fail. A few weeks before his passing, Lewis called and asked him to create the album’s cover. “I told him, ‘All you gotta do is sign your name.’” His father hesitated, unsure. “What kind of handwriting?” he asked. “Your handwriting,” Lewis told him. “I hate my handwriting,” his father admitted. But he grabbed a notebook from the grocery store in San Cristóbal and wrote his name in Sharpie. Page after page. And there, on the very first one—the one he hadn’t overthought—was the signature that would become Georgie.

This album is dedicated to Big George Lewis—the OG Georgie.

In the past few months, Twin Shadow has released three songs and videos from Georgie, including “As Soon As You Can,” “Good Times,” and “Permanent Feeling.” Twin Shadow conceived and directed all three videos.

Line Of Best Fit

Today Panchiko, the English band who has consistently shattered expectations over the past few months, shares their latest single "Mac's Omelette." This is the fourth song form their forthcoming album Ginkgo, due out April 4 via Nettwerk, and precedes their biggest US tour to date with bills at Brooklyn Paramount, Hollywood Palladium, The Fillmore, & more all listed below. Listen to "Mac's Omelette" here, and pre-save Ginkgo here.

On "Mac's Omelette," we get a care-free, meandering, piano-led, introduction. This is shortly met with a darker melodic line, reminiscent of something Thom Yorke might conjure up while on an introspective stroll in the early evening. The sound is quite unexpected, given the last single "Honeycomb," which is lush with 1970s pop-rock  of ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky," or the moody "Shandy in the Graveyard" ft. New York rapper billy woods.

Watch the official visualizer for "Mac's Omelette" here.

Of the single, Panchiko explains, "The little piano piece that wouldn’t go away, recorded on my brother’s piano one Christmas in Liverpool. It lived on the laptop for a while, but turned into this laid back number mid way through making the new album. Make what you want from the lyrics, To me the song represents being mid journey staring out the window finding new meanings in the unexpected, enjoying life right?"

As 90s kids in the city of Nottingham, Panchiko played shows to nearly empty rooms and eventually set aside the hope of becoming full-time musicians to pursue other careers. That was true until 2020, after discovering that an internet user found Panchiko’s discarded 2000 demo CD, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, in a Nottingham charity shop, posted it to 4chan in 2016, and effectively made their long let-go-of dreams imperative to pursue.

With the new album, Panchiko rediscovers and expands upon its beloved sound. The original rawness and fine grit of the demo CD remain but with an even more varied palette. Across the record, we hear moments reminiscent of ELO's electronic, chromatic playfulness, OK Computer-esque, brainy theatricality, and even bits of Rage Against The Machine's hip-hop flow.

Fans at The New York Times, NPR (Most Anticipated Albums 2025), Consequence, Fader, Uproxx, The Guardian, Bandcamp, and more have been fascinated by the band's story and blown away by their sound; both Stereogum and Brooklyn Vegan included Ginkgo in their Most Anticipated Albums of 2025 lists. Over the past year, they've reached 111M streams on Spotify alone, with their following on the platform growing by 166k in the same amount of time; they've sold out major venues in NYC (Brooklyn Steel), Los Angeles (The Novo), DC (9:30 Club), and so many more – doubling the size of venue they play in the span of two years – with a major festival appearance at Levitation this fall. They just wrapped up a tour across the US, with more upcoming dates in the US / EU / UK in Spring 2025. Routing below.

Panchiko — now composed of original members Andy Wright (keyboardist and producer) and Owain Davies (vocalist and guitarist), alongside new members guitarist Robert Harris, bassist Shaun Ferreday, and drummer John Schofield — pursued their new path with vigor. Upon discovering their virality in 2020, they toured the world and wrote, recorded, and released their first album in 20+ years, 2023’s Failed At Maths. But after the thrill of the whirlwind came a new question. What comes next when your dreams come true? The answer is Gingko, a 13-track project that finds the band making some of their most introspective, cinematic, and moving music yet.

"Mac's Omelette" is out now, listen here.
Pre-save Ginkgo, due April 4, 2025, here.
